Chapter 6: Report

Wei Hongsi took several deep breaths in succession, picked up the cup on the table, and took small sips of water, his mind gradually calming down.

It seemed his skill in cultivating inner calm was still insufficient; he needed to keep practicing.

He gave a self-deprecating smile, increased the number of simulated test subjects from 100 to 300, and restarted the simulation analysis.

Just as he was watching the data representing abnormal situations skyrocket on the monitor, he suddenly heard someone call out next to him, "Xiao Wei!"

Wei Hongsi's heart skipped a beat. On the surface, he calmly switched away from the CMS interface and turned to look at He Feng standing beside him. "Supervisor He?"

"What work are you handling?"

"A small analysis commission, almost finished. Is something the matter?"

"That... yesterday's analysis for Paradise..." He Feng wore a constipated expression, hesitating to speak.

"Oh, the client approved our analysis report. It's already concluded." Wei Hongsi didn't want any complications at this moment and added an explanation, "Actually, it has absolutely no impact on you, Supervisor He, right?"

"Huh?" He Feng was momentarily stunned, then thought about it—wasn't that true!

He had passed Department Eight's commission to Wei Hongsi. Wei Hongsi produced the report. Although the client was once dissatisfied and came looking, they ultimately approved it. So it was over!

"That's good, that's good." He Feng nodded, showing a relieved expression. "Then you carry on with your work."

After sending He Feng away, Wei Hongsi turned his gaze back to the monitor.

Switching back to the CMS interface, he saw the analysis was complete. The data proportion of simulated test subjects showing abnormal situations exceeded 85%, even higher than the previous run.

There was no mistake. Paradise Beverages' Plan B advertisement had definitely undergone post-processing using Zhiwei's Cognitive Mirroring System!

The Cognitive Mirroring System was not unique to Zhiwei Technology. Several other major companies in the industry, along with a few universities deeply invested in this field, had each developed their own systems.

This type of system needed to learn and train to grow. Cognitive Mirroring Systems developed by different organizations, due to differences in technical DNA and application focus, would exhibit significant variations in behavioral analysis dimensions.

It was like a human fingerprint—unique. Plan B, having been processed by CMS, inevitably bore its exclusive imprint.

Wei Hongsi locked his computer screen, picked up his cup, and went to the pantry, using the opportunity to sort out his thoughts.

Clearly, there was a mole within the company. He, or they, had conspired with the advertising agency to jointly concoct Plan B, then submitted it to Paradise Beverages through a bidding process.

This was serious illegal criminal activity. The sentence would likely start at 10 years, and the involved interests would amount to at least several hundred million, possibly even billions.

As the saying goes: Cutting off someone's source of wealth is like killing their parents. If this matter was exposed through his own hands, he might end up getting burned. People willing to risk over a decade in prison were capable of any extreme action.

Wei Hongsi hesitated repeatedly but couldn't think of a proper solution. He added a large spoonful of ice cubes to his cup, took several gulps in a row, and felt much of his restlessness dissipate.

Leaving the pantry, he saw He Feng gesturing and explaining something to several colleagues in their team, full of leadership airs, with no trace of the earlier entangled, constipated look. Suddenly, his train of thought opened up.

For him, this matter was just an ordinary work task. So, he should treat it according to the standard workflow. The superior manager in the work chain would naturally take over the problem.

The only concern was Department Two's director, Yu Sheng.

If he was the mole, or participated in this matter, then this trouble would be unavoidable.

However, that possibility should be very small.

Whether it was assigning this work commission or applying to use CMS, Yu Sheng's reactions had been completely normal.

If he were truly a participant, shouldn't he have shown some nervousness, some special reaction?

Wei Hongsi sat down at his computer and began filling out the analysis report.

All the abnormal data provided by CMS was written in verbatim, without any embellishment. In the conclusion section, he only pointed out what problems existed in the commissioned analysis sample and why it was unusable.

As for the reason for the abnormally high proportion of abnormal situation data during the positive simulation analysis, it was not mentioned at all. Because this was not part of the client's commission. Merely reaching the previous conclusion meant this task was already completed.

However, anyone reading this report would definitely notice this point and draw the corresponding conclusion.

That 85%+ proportion was as conspicuous as a bonfire in the dark night; anyone who wasn't blind couldn't possibly ignore it.

After writing the report, he uploaded and submitted it immediately. No risk warning popped up before his eyes, indicating this choice was correct... right?

A few minutes later, WD feedback showed the director had received the report. Another twenty-some minutes passed, reaching lunch break. The report was still in the director review stage, with no further progress.

Wei Hongsi wasn't in a hurry either. He left his workstation to eat at the cafeteria.

For such a major matter, Yu Sheng probably needed to deliberate. The fact that he didn't immediately seek a private conversation after seeing the report was a very good sign.

If Yu Sheng reported further up, feeding the situation back to the leadership of the "Cognitive Research Center" to which Department Two belonged, then it would completely enter the formal handling process.

Wei Hongsi left the main building and happened to run into Lu Jiaqi. She greeted him first and asked about the work progress.

He wasn't sure how long the report would stay with Yu Sheng. Moreover, once the lid was lifted, the company would inevitably prioritize handling the internal issue.

However, this incident was closely related to Paradise Beverages. Even if the report couldn't be provided first, some communication would likely happen beforehand.

"The results should be out this afternoon," Wei Hongsi said ambiguously.

"Engineer Wei's efficiency is truly unmatched," Lu Jiaqi said with a smile. "Add me as a friend?"

"Sure." Wei Hongsi took out his phone and added her as a Zhixun friend.

The company's WD also had a mobile client, which everyone called "My WD," but aside from work-related exchanges, people didn't like using it privately.

Lu Jiaqi's interpersonal skills were quite good; at least the experience of working together these past two days had been pleasant. There might be some matters needing communication outside of work later, so adding her as a friend was fine.

After lunch, Wei Hongsi originally planned to go to the book cafe to read for a while but received a message from Yu Sheng, asking him to come to the director's office.

So he turned back to the main building, took the elevator to the 16th floor, walked to the director's office door, and knocked twice.

Hearing "Come in" from inside, he pushed the door open and saw two people sitting on the sofa in the reception area. One was Yu Sheng, the other was Gu Shiming, the general manager of the Cognitive Research Center.

Wei Hongsi had seen both of them before but hadn't interacted much.

This development matched his expectations, and he couldn't help but feel settled inside.
