Chapter 3)

Fengpiter had fallen asleep, a surprising turn of events that caught everyone off guard. Even the Small Galaxy-level Powerhouses who had come to assist were left stunned, nearly wetting themselves in shock.

This was none other than Fengpiter, a Large Galaxy Seventh Order envoy, a highly renowned figure within the Fengbao Empire. Yet here he was, unexpectedly falling prey to this situation.

A Large Galaxy-level Powerhouse, dozing off just like that – can you believe it?

Now, no one dared to approach him. If even Large Galaxy-level Powerhouses couldn't handle it, what chance did they have?

In Fengpiter's eyes at this moment, he had forgotten everything, transported back to the days of his youth. Back then, he had been full of ambition, striving to become the cream of the crop, to eventually marry his childhood sweetheart.

It was a clichéd tale, but for Fengpiter, it was etched in his heart.

He had believed in himself, but in the end, he failed. He wasn't chosen, and he never ventured beyond the planet of his birth. He became a failure.

And his childhood sweetheart had married someone else.

Originally, he would have lived a life of mediocrity, eventually passing away.

But then, he stumbled upon a stroke of luck – a near-death Large Galaxy-level Powerhouse, who passed everything on to him in his final moments, entrusting him with the task of seeking vengeance.

What followed was self-evident. Fengpiter succeeded, his strength grew steadily, and he settled the score with his enemy, all while in the presence of the emperor.

Since then, he became a prominent figure in the eyes of the emperor, though not the current one, of course.

He had lived for tens of thousands of years, and many emperors had come and gone. Regardless of the generation, they all valued him greatly because he never married or had children, meaning he had no familial or factional interests.

That was the real reason the emperors valued him.

Fengpiter was well aware of his advantages. After finally resolving his vendetta and promptly searching for his childhood sweetheart, he discovered she had long passed away.

His childhood sweetheart had lived an ordinary life and would not have surpassed a century in lifespan; how could she have endured for as long as he had?

Fengpiter was completely immersed in the world of his dream, lost in his memories of the past. He had no consciousness of the fact that this was all a dream, none of it was real.

This was the terror of the Dream Enchanter – she could manipulate dreams!

Strangely, the Dream Enchanter hadn't killed Fengpiter but had allowed him to remain entrapped in the dream for days on end.

Several days later, Yun Ru and Li Tong finally managed to dismantle the various defenses within the device, gaining a general understanding of what lay inside.

This device could indeed create a Celestial Path, a path that could only be used in the vast interstellar spaces between Large Galaxies, where planetary meteorites were few and far between. Because this Celestial Path was a straight line!

It could infinitely shorten the distance between two Large Galaxies. What would have taken over a year using Fengbao Empire's technology could now be accomplished in less than a day.

For the Red Alert Empire, which possessed Hyperspace Teleportation Devices, this invention held little value. However, for the Fengbao Empire, it promised to enhance connections between various human empires, a significant boon.

Mastering the technology equated to a monopoly. In the future, other empires would have no choice but to seek Fengbao Empire's help in constructing such devices, a lucrative business opportunity.

"Inform Envoy Feng that our research has yielded preliminary results," Li Tong instructed a soldier, directing him to deliver the message.

"Chief Li, you might not know this while you were conducting your research, but something has happened to Envoy Feng."

"What?" Li Tong was taken aback. He knew that Envoy Feng was a Large Galaxy Seventh Order Powerhouse, a level of strength that was at the top no matter where you were.

Even a Large Galaxy Ninth Order Powerhouse would find it challenging to deal with Envoy Feng. How could something have happened to him?

If he had encountered trouble, why hadn't their research facility been affected?

Without a second thought, Li Tong suspected that some organization might be attempting to steal their research findings.

However, upon closer inquiry, he learned that Envoy Feng had set his sights on a hidden figure.

Having experienced that situation himself, he understood that this hidden figure was no ordinary individual, and it was surprising that even Envoy Feng had fallen victim to them.

"Chief Li, what happened?" Yun Ru approached.

Li Tong didn't hide anything from her. As he continued his research, his admiration for Yun Ru had grown. If he weren't part of the Fengbao Empire, he would have seriously considered switching to the Red Alert Empire.

Yun Ru immediately grasped the situation. Fengpiter had apparently confronted the Dream Enchanter, and things hadn't gone well for him. She must have been a formidable opponent if even Envoy Feng had suffered a setback.

"Contact the Powerhouses from your Empire, preferably a Large Galaxy Ninth Order one. Otherwise, Envoy Feng might not make it back," Yun Ru suggested before returning to her research. Until she fully understood the technology related to the Celestial Path, she had no intention of returning to the Red Alert Empire.

During the next seven days, a Large Galaxy Ninth Order Powerhouse from the Fengbao Empire intervened and, it seemed, made some kind of agreement with the Dream Enchanter to rescue Fengpiter.

Fengpiter appeared to be in reasonable condition, albeit somewhat weakened.

"Envoy Feng, Marshal of Fengbao, I'm preparing to return to the Red Alert Empire. I appreciate your hospitality during this time," Yun Ru found them and stated her intention.

This was a prior arrangement she had made with Envoy Feng, who nodded in understanding.

However, Fengbao Marshal, who stood nearby, wore a stern expression and said, "Chief Yun, since you've come all the way to our Fengbao Empire, why not stay a bit longer? Chief Li also wishes to seek your expertise in some matters."

Yun Ru furrowed her brows slightly. "Marshal, this was something I had already discussed with Envoy Feng. I've experienced life in the Fengbao Empire, and now that our research on the Celestial Path device is complete, I intend to return."

It was clear to Yun Ru that Fengbao Marshal was attempting to keep her there.

As for the reasons behind it, she had several speculations in mind. Engaging in conflict at this point would not be advantageous for her. She remained silent and followed Li Tong with a stern expression as they left the area.

Once the two of them were out of earshot, Fengpiter hurriedly spoke, "Marshal, Chief Yun is a representative of the Red Alert Empire. Are we doing the right thing?"

The marshal waved his hand dismissively. "A scientist of such exceptional talent must be retained in the Fengbao Empire by any means necessary. As for the Red Alert Empire, we have a signed alliance. What can they do?"
