Chapter 102: Unable to See Clearly |
Following Kyle’s gaze, Caitlin finally noticed the “little crybaby” with swollen red eyes standing behind Dean. Her eyes immediately lit up.
“Oh my! This little guy is so adorable. What happened? Why did you cry so much? Your face is all dirty! Is Dean an idiot? He can’t even take care of a child properly?! Doesn’t he even know how to wipe her face…”
Watching Caitlin chatter endlessly, Kyle felt as though he was seeing his sister for the first time.
He completely could not understand what was going on in his sister’s mind!
He had always wanted to see his sister acting jealous, and had even prepared a recording crystal in advance.
But what exactly was this situation? What kind of trick was she playing?
Had his sister been possessed by some kind of “evil spirit”?
Did maternal love really need to be this intense? !
You’re a vampire!
She had completely changed…
Kyle rubbed his forehead again, momentarily speechless. He felt like he had been rubbing his forehead constantly lately.
Feeling extremely bored, he shifted his attention back toward O’Brien.
That man was truly pushing himself to his limit and was already showing signs of excessively drawing upon his origin.
“Forget it… Since you’re currently the only Holy Knight I can cooperate with, I’ll treat this as an early investment.”
Naturally, Kyle would never engage in a losing business deal. With a Holy Knight’s personality, he could completely rely on this favor to make O’Brien indebted to him for life!
This deal was simply too worthwhile!
His gaze swept across the several enormous warehouses below, all packed tightly with patients. By his rough estimate, there were still around one hundred thousand patients here suffering from death energy.
The next moment, he appeared directly above the warehouses “wearing” Alvaro’s outfit.
Sunlight shone upon the gleaming armor, reflecting dazzling brilliance that instantly attracted the attention of everyone on the ground.
He raised both hands, and countless runes manifested!
Simulating the Death Domain he had deciphered from that necromancer’s claw, a ripple containing silence and finality instantly spread outward, enveloping all the temporary medical stations below.
Terrifying domain pressure suddenly descended!
Within the domain, time itself seemed to freeze. Every living being—whether groaning patients, busy volunteers, or guards maintaining order—their movements, expressions, even thoughts, were forcibly fixed in that very instant!
It was incomparably bizarre!
Only O’Brien’s thoughts were still struggling to function, but he likewise could not make a single movement, as though imprisoned within steel.
Furthermore, he was currently extremely weak, his holy light power long exhausted, leaving him unable to resist or squeeze out any more of his origin.
“What kind of terrifying state of existence is this exactly?!”
O’Brien had already gone numb. Were there truly this many monsters inside Coral Thorn City?
However, what happened next shocked him yet again.
He saw countless “evil spirits” seemingly wailing as they were forcibly dragged out from the bodies of every patient inside the warehouses, directly passing through the warehouse walls and ceilings as they flew toward the sky.
Outside the temporary medical stations, countless civilians, adventurers, and merchants also lifted their heads and stared at the metal armor gilded in golden sunlight high above them. Within their eyes, they witnessed a “miracle”.
Many people who had experienced the ghost ship disaster the previous night immediately recognized that it was precisely this kind of existence that had blocked the ghost fleet’s advance last night.
Before countless gazes—
Endless strange and twisted gray mist surged out from the warehouses and rushed toward the metal armor in the sky.
They were absorbed by the armor like a whale swallowing water, completely devoured.
Everything happened within only a few breaths.
After the mist dispersed, the dazzling metal armor in the sky instantly merged into the air and vanished without a trace.
Had all of this not occurred right before everyone’s eyes, many people would probably have thought they were hallucinating again.
“What… was that just now?”
“Was that another Holy War Lord?”
Many people regarded the figure clad in metal armor as another Holy Knight. Although he had seemingly never used abilities such as holy light techniques, every appearance he made felt capable of turning the tide of battle, both terrifying and magnificent.
Clearly far stronger than the Holy Knight currently treating patients!
“He doesn’t look like a Holy Knight. Have you ever seen a Holy Knight who doesn’t use holy light techniques?”
A Master adventurer shook his head solemnly.
“Moreover, that feeling just now was completely different from the warm and hope-filled sensation Holy Knights give off. On the contrary, it was incredibly oppressive and terrifying!”
As the strongest person among the group, his words naturally carried weight, causing those around him to grow even more confused as discussions erupted everywhere…
After Kyle left, everyone frozen inside the warehouses instantly returned to normal.
None of them had any idea what had just happened, but every patient who had been tormented by death energy discovered that they had completely recovered; the horrifying coldness and pain throughout their bodies had vanished entirely.
“I… I don’t hurt anymore?”
“I’m fine! I feel amazing!”
“That cold aura disappeared!”
After a brief moment of shock, the entire area immediately exploded into celebration and chaos. The previously orderly medical district once again became lively due to this sudden turn of events.
“Everyone, quiet down!”
Enduring his exhaustion, O’Brien’s voice rang throughout the entire area.
“Line up and come to me for an examination!”
He guessed that what had just happened must have been Kyle the vampire’s doing. Otherwise, why would someone specifically come here to do such things?
If it had been other senior Holy Knights, they would have used holy light purification instead of directly extracting the death energy.
“This person… when did he become this strong?”
O’Brien could sense just how outrageous the change just now had been. Although he had never personally experienced a Legendary expert’s domain, he still knew a little about it.
That absolute sense of control that halted time and space and forced all things into submission was clearly a characteristic of a Domain!
“Could this person perhaps be a Child of the Era born in response to the times?”
Within the records of the ancient Holy Knight Sanctuaries, whenever the world faced major turning points or disasters, there would always emerge certain individuals blessed with tremendous fortune who stepped forward in response to the era’s needs.
They were known as “Children of the Era” or “Stars of the Age,” and their choices and actions would, to a great extent, determine the world’s direction.
But likewise, such eras were often the most tragic, because these Children of the Era could be born among any race or faction.
Light and darkness, order and chaos—their conflicts would sweep across the entire world.
From O’Brien’s experiences interacting with the other party, the other side had clearly displayed many such traits.
The other party possessed extraordinary power, wisdom, charisma, and opportunities—everything imaginable. More terrifying still, the other party actually ignored holy light! And even sought to change the world!
“Fortunately…”
Looking at the people around him crying tears of joy after recovering, O’Brien felt a trace of relief.
“At least in my view, this person doesn’t seem to be the kind of chaotic and selfish madman.”
He hoped that this kind of existence was merely an exception. Otherwise, the world might once again descend into chaos.
O’Brien mechanically examined the recovering patients while his thoughts drifted elsewhere.
Meanwhile, outside the temporary medical district, the area had already become noisy and chaotic, with countless people discussing who exactly that person wearing the metal armor truly was.
