Chapter 939: Defective Products |
"Good." he smiled and said, "Here, let me check the condition of your Dantian."
He moved to place his hand on her abdomen, but Rima grabbed it, stopping him.
He looked at her in confusion.
"No need to waste time. I know it’s almost completely destroyed and soon it’ll vanish completely." she said calmly.
"I see." Max nodded, then said with a hurt look on his face, "You no longer believe in me as much as before, huh? That’s understandable. I failed to save you, after all."
"No, no, no. I-I didn’t mean that." Rima hurriedly shook her head. "I just..."
"You don’t need to explain yourself. You feel what you feel, right? It’s alright." Max smiled and this only served to make her panic more.
A moment later, she did what he was aiming for. She took his hand and placed it on her abdomen.
"Here, check it. I won’t stop you again, but don’t ever say that I don’t believe you." she said with tears in her eyes.
After checking her condition, he let out a sign of relief. "It’s stable."
"Really?" asked Rima, a suspicious look on her face.
"Yeah. It’s in the same condition as the time I first saw it." nodded Max.
Rima nodded.
After accompanying her for two hours, he told her he needed to go back and make some talismans and left the room.
Rima’s smiling expression crumbled after he walked out of the room.
"That bastard. If he hadn’t destroyed my Identity Badge too, Max wouldn’t have to waste time making talismans." she grumbled, her expression overcast.
She really hated Lord Grimheart, that petty, and insidious man. Not only did he crippled her so she would suffer all her life, he also destroyed her Identity Badge and Spatial Ring, leaving her with nothing.
After a while, her eyes glazed over and she muttered, "Can you... really... heal it?"
...
The next morning, Max met with Ryuna and they entered the Talisman Hall’s Resource Hall.
As soon as they entered, Max felt several gazes on him.
Following Ryuna, he arrived in front of the room with just a window behind which sat an old, grey-haired woman.
She was hunched over a pile of papers, staring at them intently as if they had something very fascinating.
Ryuna signalled him to go ahead.
Max nodded and stepped in front of her, putting his Identity Badge on the window, "Elder, I would like to"
Swoosh!
Before he could finish, a man appeared in the room and held the old woman by her shoulders, helping her out of the seat. Then, he flashed Max an apologetic smile, "Can you come later? Elder is tired now and need to rest."
Max frowned and glanced at Ryuna, who shrugged in a way that said, ’Told you it won’t be easy.’
Without a word, Max headed to the second exchange counter where a man with glasses was sitting behind the window.
This time, even before he could speak, the man slammed his hand on the desk and muttered, "I again ran out of Spirit Nourishing Liquid. Have to go bring some more. Can’t let disciples go empty handed."
Then, he was gone after putting ’temporary closed’ sign on the window.
Max went to the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth window and the person in charge would leave for some reason or other or give some excuse why they could not serve him temporarily.
Max glanced at Ryuna and said, "If not for the Talisman Hall Master enforcing the rules strongly, the entire Hall would have indeed been corrupted and destroyed completely by now. I finally believe you that this faction is really vermin to the entire Beast Emperor Hall."
He hadn’t lowered his voice, so everyone in the building heard him and the faces of everyone from the Grimheart Faction turned green with embarrassment and rage.
"Hmph!"
A snort rang out.
"What ill things are you talking about, you impudent brat!" A man walked down from upstairs, glaring at him.
"Oh, did I say something wrong? Do you want to punish me for it?" Max asked, a wide smile appearing on his face. Then, he raised his hands in surrender and said, "Sure, go ahead. Arrest me and put me on a trial."
He then looked at Ryuna, "Ms. Ryuna, make sure I get a trial and some real people with authority should be there, not someone’s pawns."
The man glared at him, his aura fluctuating around him. It really looked as if he was about to attack him, but it seemed the Talisman Hall Master was still feared, so he did not.
"I don’t want him in my hall even for a second more than necessary." he coldly said and headed upstairs.
"Your hall? What a grand wish!" Ryuna scoffed behind him which made his steps falter before he disappeared.
"Disciple. Please come here and tell me what you need." someone called out from one of the nine exchange counters.
Max felt disgusted and wanted to storm out, but that would be his loss.
So, he forced his displeasure and disgust down, went over and put down his identity badge and nine Thunder Talismans he created yesterday.
"I want to sell them. Don’t try anything funny or I’ll just stay here. Then you will have to handle your master’s wrath." said Max, his voice cold.
The man pursed his lips. After making an entry with his identity badge, he inspected the talismans one by one.
If he was surprised, he didn’t show it and calmly said, "Each of these talismans is a High-Grade Tier 4. Since they fall in the peak of high-grade too and are of Thunder Element, each can be sold for 35 Merit Points or 350 High Grade Mana Stones. Do you want to proceed?"
Max thought for a moment.
35 Merit Points for one High-Grade Tier 4 Thunder Talisman was pretty good as it was almost four times the price of Mid-Grade Tier 4 Fire Talisman.
"Yes," Max nodded, then looked through the catalog of resources available.
"Give me a stack of Low-Grade Tier 5 Talisman Paper and Attributeless Talisman Ink of the same grade. Give me one Low-Grade Thunder Essence Stone, and two Low-Grade Tier 5 Spirit Replenishment Pills.." he ordered.
The man nodded, and placed the items he requested in front of him.
"Talisman Paper, 40, Attributeless Talisman Ink, 60, Thunder Essence Stone, 120, Spirit Replenishment Pills, 40 each. So, the total is 300." the man counted the price, then said, "Your balance is 15 Merit Points."
"How come these Spirit Replenishment Pills are so expensive? I bought one outside for just 100 High Grade Mana Stones." he asked.
The man gave him a look, then said, "You must have bought it from some wanderer, not from a proper channel, right? That pill cost you less because it was a defective product. You’ll realize it after using these."
Max’s brows furrowed, but he didn’t say anything. After receiving the 15 Merit Points, he walked out of the hall with Ryuna.
