Chapter 950: Gambling

The man approached Kyle, who was currently focusing on the Law of Minor Earth.

“Hey, you,” the man transmitted with a dominant tone.

“I’m not selling the spot,” Kyle answered absentmindedly.

“Move it, unless you want to be humiliated!” the man transmitted.

Kyle blinked for a moment before looking at the man from the Tribes, who was currently standing right between Kyle and the exhibition he was looking at.

“What is this about?” Kyle asked.

“Are you deaf?” the guy asked with a snort. “I said, move it!”

Kyle just looked at the guy in confusion. This situation felt unfamiliar. Some random guy had approached him and started making trouble for seemingly no reason. Usually, everyone just lived their lives, and conversations were primarily civilized. If there were disagreements on something, people talked about it or came to a trade agreement.

The last time Kyle had experienced something like this was in the Secondary Sector, but that had also been different. Back then, people just wanted to kill him. The actual last time he had felt something like this was when he had been an Exchange Seeker.

That had been over 25,000 years ago.

“What’s his problem?” Kyle thought.

“Aren’t you supposed to purchase this spot?” Kyle asked with a raised brow.

“You’re not a Sect Member,” the guy transmitted. “You’re just a random guy. Move it, or I’ll request a duel with stakes.”

“Duel with stakes?” Kyle thought as he looked through the information stored in his Emblem. He noticed that a new page with rules for Tribe Members had been added, and he quickly read through it.

“Ah, I see.”

“The standard price is 30 Merits,” Kyle transmitted. “Do you really want to bet that much?”

The man huffed for a moment, and a request for a duel was sent to Kyle. If he lost, he would have to hand over the spot. If he won, he would gain 30 Merits. If he declined, he would lose the spot.

Kyle accepted the duel and ordered his Emblem to make a default judgment. After all, Kyle didn’t want to leave his spot to fight someone. Sure, the pit would be locked until the duel was finished, but it was still annoying.

If either party was convinced that they would definitely win against the other party, they could ask for a default judgment.

“A default judgment?” the man of the Tribes thought in confusion as he felt his Emblem asking for certain information.

In order to make a judgment, the Emblems would measure one’s Realm, Momentum, and Laws, including Complex and Refined Laws. If there was a substantial difference, a default judgment would be made. If there was only a small difference, the duel would take place.

The guy was a Fulfilled Sage. His Momentum was pretty good. He had a powerful Battle Rite and a fitting Core Rite. The guy knew that Kyle was most likely a Unique Sage, but his colorless and weak aura represented an abysmal level of Battle-Strength. So what if this guy was good with pain? That didn’t mean he was stronger.

At the same time, Kyle’s Emblem also measured his strength. As the holder of the Emblem, Kyle could decide how much information he gave it to measure. Lying wouldn’t work, and usually, not giving the Emblem all the information just made things worse.

Nevertheless, Kyle decided that he would only share part of his power with his Emblem.

**Realm:** Legendary Sage.

**Momentum:** Beyond Peak.

**Laws:** All Major Laws of the Aspects.

That was all Kyle shared with the Emblem.

The two Emblems shone, and the results came in.

The guy’s eyes widened in shock as he noticed that he had been declared the loser via default judgment.

He saw a huge chunk of his Merits vanishing, and he just looked at Kyle in shock and horror.

“Thank you for the Merits,” Kyle transmitted. “Good day.”

The guy didn’t know what he should say. He had thought that Kyle was an easy target, but things had not developed as he had hoped.

The guy gritted his teeth in frustration and anger while looking at Kyle.

“Give me back my Merits!” he demanded.

“Why should I? You offered the duel,” Kyle answered absentmindedly as he focused on the Minor Earth again.

“I might not be able to beat you, but someone else can!” the guy transmitted with anger. “You can have the pit, but I want my Merits back! If you refuse, I’ll ask someone stronger to take them back! I will get them back, one way or another! You’ll regret not listening to me, you hear?!”

“More duels?” Kyle asked. “Sure, I could use more Merits. Anyway, I’m busy. You can keep talking, but I won’t answer. Have a great day!”

Then, Kyle ignored the guy as he kept transmitting threats. Sadly or luckily for him, fighting was prohibited without an authorized duel.

Eventually, the guy left the Law Well.

Kyle noticed and looked at the leaving person for a moment.

“This is so weird. It’s almost like this guy is a kid. He just suddenly started making trouble, and after he lost, he started complaining. Dude, this guy is over ten thousand years old. Act your age, man!”

“Also, what’s with this B-movie villain dialogue? Well, I guess amongst millions of Seekers, there’s bound to be one dumbass.”

“Anyway, back to comprehending!”

Kyle focused on the Minor Earth in front of him again.

“Did you take his Merits?”

Kyle looked to the side as he noticed that a new person from the Tribes had arrived.

This time, it was a tall woman with a humongous axe on her back. Based on her aura, she was a Unique Sage with average Battle-Strength. Well, it was average for a Unique Sage. Behind her stood the guy from earlier, looking at Kyle with an arrogant sneer.

“Bro, what is this development?” Kyle thought. “He actually went to his mommy to cry, and now, his mommy is here. What is this even? I feel like I’m in some kind of weird alternate dimension in which ancient immortals are as impulsive as teenagers.”

“He asked for a duel. I accepted. I won,” Kyle transmitted.

“These Merits were mine,” the tall woman transmitted. “They were not his to bet. You may keep ten of them for your inconvenience, but I’ll need the other twenty back.”

“Why does he have your Merits?” Kyle asked.

“That was his centennial tribute to the family,” she transmitted. “As members of the same family, it is our duty to stand up for each other. So, please, give me back the Merits.”

“Why would he gamble with his tribute if it’s that important? You sure want a gambling addict in your family?” Kyle asked.

“You’re in no position to judge our family,” the woman said. “I have asked several times, but you wouldn’t listen.”

The next moment, a request for a duel arrived.

The stakes were the spot in the pit and 30 Merits on one side, and 60 Merits on the other side.

“Sure,” Kyle transmitted before accepting the duel and asking for a default judgment.

This time, just to be sure that the judgment went through, Kyle also shared his **Law of Black Hole**.

The tall woman’s eyes widened as she saw that she had lost the default judgment.

“Would you look at that,” Kyle commented.

“Seems like gambling addiction runs in the family.”
