Chapter 636: Yoink

The Inner Disciple unleashed a rage-filled strike.

He felt humiliated since he had missed so many times.

By now, his strikes had turned to killing strikes, and he was going all-out.

However, he still wasn't using his most powerful Law.

If he used that, he would be disqualified, and he might actually kill his opponent.

Not many people could resist his Complex Law of Mountain Destruction.

This Inner Disciple used to be a Core Disciple because of his overwhelmingly powerful Complex Law.

It was a mighty Level Two Complex Law, after all!

That was even stronger than a Pure Level Two Law!

Just as the Disciple was launching an attack…

Yoink!

Kyle pulled the mace out of the man's hands.

The man looked with horror at Kyle.

The eyes of the audience opened widely in shock.

Silence.

Meanwhile, Kyle just lightly poked the Inner Disciple's chest with the head of the mace, pushing him back a bit.

The Inner Disciple just looked at Kyle in shock.

"So, do I win?" Kyle asked.

The Core Elder recovered and looked at the Inner Disciple. "Do you concede?" he asked with an imposing voice.

The Inner Disciple shook his head to regain his bearings.

Then, he got distracted as he saw Kyle holding his weapon.

All of his will to fight vanished.

"Yes, I concede," he said absentmindedly.

"The Exchange Seeker wins!" the Core Elder announced.

Half of the audience started to cheer, while the other half looked at Kyle with furrowed brows.

Meanwhile, Kyle just gave the mace back to the Inner Disciple, who left without saying anything.

Kyle smiled, waved to the audience, and jumped back to the participant area.

"Quite an impressive display," the Core Elder transmitted to Kyle. "Do you, per chance, have a Metal Affinity?"

"Yep, how did you know?" Kyle asked back.

The Core Elder became relieved.

The most shocking part hadn't been Kyle's ability to disarm his opponent.

No, it was how Kyle had carried the huge mace like it was a wooden stick.

For just a moment, the Core Elder had thought that Kyle had an insanely powerful physical body.

But when he heard that Kyle had a Metal Affinity, the doubts vanished.

His Complex Law probably involved the manipulation of metal, which allowed him to carry heavy metals with the help of his Soul and Center.

If this were just the doing of his physical body, this would be ridiculous.

Such great physical power would put him amongst the top of the Core Disciples.

The fights continued, and the Core Elder sent a voice transmission to the second Inner Disciple, who jumped into the arena.

"I challenge the Exchange Seeker!" the Inner Disciple shouted.

Kyle quickly jumped down. "Hi!" he said with a friendly smile.

The Inner Disciple just narrowed his eyes and pulled out a long sword.

"I want to see how you will pull this out of my hands," the man said with a severe voice.

"Okay," Kyle said.

The Inner Disciple just gritted his teeth.

"The fight begins!" the Core Elder shouted.

The Inner Disciple charged forward, and four Fragments of the Body were activated by him.

Compared to the last Disciple, this one was a level higher and knew two more Fragments of the Body.

As long as the last Disciple didn't use his mighty Complex Law, he was confident that he could win.

He reached Kyle in an instant and unleashed a quick strike.

Yoink.

Kyle just grabbed the blade and pulled it out of the man's hands like it was a toy being held by a toddler.

The entire arena fell silent yet again.

"There you go," Kyle said, lightly swinging the sword around like it was made of plastic.

A deep and profound feeling of humiliation washed over the Inner Disciple.

"I concede," he spoke with a serious voice.

Then, he jumped forward and wrestled the sword out of Kyle's hands before flying out of the arena.

"The Exchange Seeker wins," the Core Elder said.

Deep inside, the Core Elder was starting to feel nervous.

He had expected that the second Inner Disciple would make some trouble for Kyle.

Yet, nothing had changed.

Kyle smiled as he returned to the participant area.

"Start the final phase," the Core Elder transmitted to the last Inner Disciple involved in the ploy.

The last Inner Disciple narrowed his eyes as he jumped into the arena.

He had been extremely confident until just a couple of minutes ago.

But now, he felt like he was entering a True Battle.

When he arrived in the arena, he challenged Kyle, who jumped back into the arena.

The Inner Disciple glared at Kyle with severity. "This battle will not be as easy as your past ones."

"Cool," Kyle said with a casual nod.

The Inner Disciple waited for Kyle to say something imposing, but nothing ever came.

"I'll shove your arrogance down your throat!" the Inner Disciple shouted.

Kyle just looked at the man in confusion.

'Bro! I just said, cool! How is that arrogant?!'

The man pulled out something surprising.

A big hammer!

When Kyle saw the big hammer, his brows rose.

'Hey, another hammer guy!'

"The fight begins!" the Core Elder shouted.

In an instant, the Inner Disciple charged forward.

His speed was much faster than Kyle's other opponents.

This Inner Disciple was a 7/13 Primal who knew eight Fragments of the Body.

In fact, this Inner Disciple used to be among the top three of Core Disciples until he just so happened to lose a fight against an Inner Disciple.

Naturally, that fight was staged.

He also knew a Pure Level Two Law and a Complex Level Two Law.

There were only two other Core Disciples who could fight him equally, and only the three Chosen of the Highman's Club would be able to beat him convincingly.

The man charged forward with all of his speed, and the air distorted as the hammer moved through it.

The man's muscles bulged as he unleashed a terrifying shout.

He swung forward.

'Wow, that looks scary,' Kyle thought.

The strike arrived.

Yoink.

Silence.

The arena fell silent as Kyle pulled the hammer out of the Inner Disciple's hands.

This time, he had actually needed to use quite a bit of strength.

Taking away the first weapon was like taking a toy from a toddler.

Taking away the second weapon was like taking a stick from a child.

The third one was more akin to taking a rod from a 13-year-old.

It was getting a little troublesome, but with enough force, it was still possible.

The Core Elder's face turned white.

    H-How?!

Sure, he could do that, and the three Chosen might also be able to do that, but this was impossible for any Core Disciple!

This was one of their top three Core Disciples!

After some seconds, the Inner Disciple grew enraged.

"You used your Law!" he shouted as he aggressively pointed at Kyle.

"Well, duh," Kyle said with a roll of his eyes. "Would be a bit weird if I did that without it."

"Exchange Seeker," the Core Elder said with a severe tone. "You are only allowed to use physical strength. Was I not clear in my explanation?"

"I did only use physical strength," Kyle said with a bit of annoyance. "Am I supposed to dispel my Infused Body Law?"

Everyone's eyes opened wide when they heard that.

Only the three Chosen had comprehended the Law of Body, and only one of them had made a Complex Law with it!

That one Chosen was the pride of their entire organization!

This… this guy was on the level of their top Chosen?!

As the Core Elder realized what was going on, he felt like he had lost control of everything.

"Prove that you spoke the truth!" the Core Elder shouted, not being able to keep his voice polite, making him sound quite rude.

"Sure," Kyle said with a shrug.

The next moment, an Essence floated out of Kyle's body.

His body became bulky, and his aura changed.

Instead of some basement dweller, Kyle now looked like a huge and muscular guy who punched bears as a hobby.

When everyone saw that, their doubts vanished.

This was very much a physical fighter!

It was just that his Complex Law made him look like a basement dweller.

The Core Elder did his best to keep his expression under control.

Meanwhile, the audience started to chatter.

"Hey, he used to be a Unique Transcendent, right? And if this is his Complex Law, doesn't that mean…"

They all knew that one could only become a Unique Transcendent by comprehending a Complex Level Three Law. If this were his Complex Law…

Didn't that mean that his body had the power of a Level Three Law?!

Not even any of their Primal Chosen had that!

Only a couple of their Crusher Chosen had something like that!

These five Crusher Chosen were the future of their organization!

Two of them even had the potential to become True Sages in the future!

If they got a True Sage, they could also make a False Spirit Lord, which would elevate their organization to a Lower Primary Organization!

Technically, all of them had known what it meant to be a Unique Transcendent, but only today did they truly understand what that actually represented.

    This was…

    Not normal!

    This broke all logic!

This was like meeting a schoolmate in the first year of college who had already founded a multi-million-dollar company.

"The Exchange Seeker wins," the Core Elder spoke, his voice quieter than before.

Meanwhile, Kyle reactivated his Complex Law and jumped back to the participant area.

At the same time, several people inside the Array of Stars' branch laughed loudly.

They had seen this scene play out so many times, and it was always funny.

If a Higher Secondary Organization got a Fulfilled Transcendent as a new member, they would thank their lucky stars and treat them as a Chosen.

Yet, these Fulfilled Transcendents would already be near the end of their lives, and they wouldn't even qualify for the Star Seeking.

The difference in quality between the members of a Higher Secondary Organization and the Array of Stars was difficult to quantify.

    The Core Disciple Trials continued.

    Kyle wasn't challenged.

The Core Elder didn't say anything.

    He had already given up.

They would not get the spot.

200 years of preparation and sacrifices…

    For nothing.

When the Core Disciple Trials were over, the Core Elder proudly announced the identities of the new Core Disciples.

After the ceremony was over, the Core Elder jumped into the middle of the arena.

"Now, it is time for the Core Disciple Rankings!" he shouted.

    The audience grew excited.

"This time, I will be the judge," the Core Elder said as a circle appeared on the ground around him. "Depending on how far you can move me, I will decide your rankings!"

    The audience became confused.

    What?

The Core Disciple Rankings were usually decided in the same way the Core Disciples were chosen.

They simply challenged each other for their position.

What was up with this weird new competition? The Core Disciples themselves were not unfamiliar with what the Core Elder was doing.

Sometimes, he told the Core Disciples to attack him to show that Realm was more important than Battle-Strength.

He was in a higher Realm, and they were helpless against him.

    They couldn't even move him!

Only the strongest Core Disciples managed to make him move a couple of millimeters.

But what was up with that huge circle around him?

He usually just stood there and told them to attack him.

And now, there was a circle with a radius of five meters around him.

Of course, some of the Disciples knew what was going on.

He wanted to save some face.

He didn't want Kyle to bulldoze the other Core Disciples.

"Manor Meander, you're first," the Core Elder said.

One of the Core Disciples narrowed his eyes and jumped into the arena.

He was one of the weaker ones.

After pulling out his lance, the Core Disciple activated all of his Laws.

This was not a competition of raw physical power but of true power.

This meant that they were allowed to use their full power.

The Core Disciple charged forward, and the Core Elder just stood there.

The lance hit the Core Elder in the center of his chest as the shockwave of the hit reverberated throughout the arena.

Then, the Core Elder took two steps back.

Half of the Core Disciples watched in shock, as the other half felt embarrassed.

Only their Chosen could make the Core Elder move by this much!

And yet, they were supposed to believe that one of the weakest Core Disciples could do the same thing?!

The Core Disciples who had realized what was going on felt too embarrassed to watch.

"That was a good attack," the Core Elder said. "You're making your title as Core Disciple proud!"

The Core Disciple became a bit red in the face.

"Thanks," he quietly said as he quickly hurried back to the other Core Disciples.

Naturally, the TV broadcast had been stopped as soon as the Core Disciple Trials ended.

The Core Elder didn't want to embarrass himself in front of the members of the Array of Stars. At least, not embarrass himself more than he had already done.

Only the Highman's Club would see the Core Disciple Rankings.

The Core Elder called for the next Disciple, who quickly attacked the Core Elder before leaving just as quickly.

They couldn't handle as much shame, humiliation, and embarrassment as the Core Elder.

However, a few of the Core Disciples felt admiration for the Core Elder.

Yes, the Core Elder was embarrassing himself publicly, but he was doing that for the Highman's Club.

He was probably just as embarrassed as they were, but for them, he was willing to embarrass himself.

He was throwing away his own dignity to save theirs.

As the Core Disciples grew stronger, the Core Elder took more steps back.

Eventually, it was the turn of the top three Core Disciples.

The one ranked in third place made the Core Elder move five steps, while the other two made him move eight and nine steps.

The difference between third and second place was so big since the actual third-ranked Core Disciple was currently being an Inner Disciple.

"Nine steps," the Core Elder shouted with pride in his voice as the first-ranked Core Disciple finished his strike. "Truly outstanding! You are a rarely seen genius! This is a new record amongst Core Disciples! Amazing!"

The Core Disciples did their best not to shout in anger.

      New record?!

The old record for Core Disciples was to move this guy ten centimeters!

      Nine steps?!

      Four and a half meters?!

When the first-ranked Disciple was done, the Core Elder grandly pulled off the top half of his robes, revealing a chiseled and bulky body.

His aura shot through the roof as dense Energy gathered around his body.

From a casual stance, he changed into a battle stance.

His eyes narrowed as he looked at Kyle.

"Exchange Seeker. It's your turn," he said with a serious voice.

      The Core Disciples looked away.

The Core Elder wasn't even pretending anymore.

Earlier, he stood there like he was waiting for the barista to finish his coffee.

Now, he stood there like he was in a fight for his life.

Kyle arrived in front of the Core Elder.

Naturally, he had already realized what was going on…

      Somewhat.

'He's still scheming against me, huh?' Kyle thought in annoyance. 'You still want to take my job?'

      Meanwhile…

'I'll just let myself be pushed back enough so that my foot touches the edge of the circle,' the Core Elder thought. 'I can't possibly act like he's weaker than my Disciples. Nobody would believe me.'

'But what I can do is to make him just barely win.'

'We can't get his position anyway. I can only save my Disciples' dignity.'

Of course, the Core Elder was planning to let Kyle win, just not by too much.

Sadly, Kyle believed that the Core Elder was still trying to play tricks on him.

'You wanna f#ck around?! Sure, I'll make you find out!' Kyle thought.

"You can just launch a fist or a kick at me," the Core Elder said. "I won't fight back."

Kyle narrowed his eyes. "You're not allowing me to use my weapon?"

The Core Elder's eyes widened in realization.

"Excuse me, I was under the assumption you were fighting barehanded," the Core Elder said. "You are allowed to use your weapon."

He had been so distracted by Kyle's performance that he hadn't even considered that he also used a weapon.

Kyle's display had been so dominant that the Core Elder hadn't anticipated that he could improve his performance even more.

'He has a weapon, right...' the Core Elder thought. 'Let's just hope it's a sword or a bow.'

The next moment, Kyle pulled out his hammer.

The head of the hammer hit the ground, and the entire arena shook.

The eyes of the onlookers widened in shock and horror. Several of them even gasped.

The Core Elder grew a bit nervous.

The other Core Disciples grew worried.

      This hammer looked awfully heavy.

"I'm supposed to go all-out, right?" Kyle asked.

"Yes, of course," the Core Elder said, trying his best to remain stalwart.

In the past, the Core Elder had managed to become a 9/12 Primal due to his great physical talent.

Sadly, the Compression Realm was all about the Center and Energy, and the Core Elder's talent lacked quite a bit in that department.

When it was time, he would become a Fake or Failed Sage in the future, but the organization needed to save enough money first.

But for now, he was only in the lower half of the Compression Realm.

One's physical power barely improved after becoming a Crusher, but in exchange, one's Energy storage increased dramatically.

The Core Elder also had a Complex Level 2.5 Law involving the Law of Body.

He knew that Kyle's attack would be powerful, but he should be able to deal with it.

After all, he was an entire Realm above him.

Nevertheless, the Core Elder was still nervous.

His instincts told him that this was not a smart idea.

      Yet, he had already committed.

      There was no way back.

Kyle's eyes narrowed as he lifted his hammer.

      "You wanted this," Kyle said.

The Core Elder didn't say anything.

The next moment, Kyle started to swing his hammer.

His swing missed, but he wasn't planning on hitting anyway.

Kyle started to spin, and he put more and more Energy into his swing.

The violent spins created a storm in the arena, and the Core Disciples took several steps back.

The arena shook as Kyle put more and more Energy into his swing.

At some point, the walls even started to creak.

The Core Disciples started to become afraid for their Core Elder.

      He could survive that, right?

He was an entire Realm higher!

The Core Elder felt like he stood in front of a Level Eight Primal Beast.

While he could kill them with relative ease, he needed his Laws and his vast storage of Energy to kill them.

Yet, withstanding one of their attacks was not something he liked to do.

Suddenly, Kyle's spinning body moved forward in a very strange and abrupt way.

At the same time, Meteor Energy gathered on the tip of his hammer.

He wasn't using it to increase its speed but to give his hammer more penetrative power.

The Core Elder quickly gathered all of his defenses.

But then, the Core Elder's mind stopped for just an instant as Kyle activated his brutal Momentum.

The Core Elder had a stronger Momentum, but the surprising intensity and suddenness of Kyle's Momentum still caught him off-guard.

      His defenses failed to manifest.

      Kyle's hammer arrived.

The Core Elder's mind went wild.

      'I'm going to die!'

The blunt side of Kyle's hammer hit the Core Elder's abdomen.

      CRKSH!

And the Core Elder's lower body farted exploded off his upper body.

      BANG!

The Core Elder's upper body flew into the distance.

      BOOOM!

And was buried in the arena walls.

      Silence.

On an unrelated note, the concept of fused complex laws are terrifying because that's an essentially limitless source of powerful combinations. Taking kyle's infused law as a basis, you notice that the aspects of different laws can cancel out. This likely means a fused complex law used as an infusion can become THE perfect minmaxed law, which is crazy.

The strength of that could either be the difference between the law of meteor and lightning, or none at all however im inclined to say it leans towards the former (unless the man fuses ever single pure law i suppose?)
