Chapter 134: Split Affinities
Strongest Hammer God

Kyle tried again, and he became angry at the stone again.

Yet, his Ether still remained white.

"The first times are always like this," Mandrake said. "Just keep trying. Maybe it helps if you think about some of your past battles. I presume you killed stuff before?"

"Yes," Kyle answered.

"Just think about the hardest fight you had and how you felt during that fight. Affinities are related to your mind," Mandrake said.

Kyle nodded and thought about his battles.

He decided to use the battle against the Sparkly Bear.

This battle had been exhilarating.

He loved smashing the Sparkly Bear's face in.

Spinning around with his hammer was great.

The sheer power!

There was so much power in his swings, and anything he hit cracked under his power.

He imagined himself swinging at the Sparkly Bear, watching its bones break and its body deforming.

"Ehm, friend?"

Kyle heard Mandrake's confused voice and opened his eyes to look at him.

"Yeah?" Kyle asked.

Mandrake just pointed at Kyle's stone.

Kyle looked down and blinked in surprise.

His stone shone with an orange and red light.

"Congratulations, I guess?" Mandrake said in confusion. "You transformed your Ether into Elemental Ether for the first time. It's just that…"

"That's Fire Ether."

The shock of seeing Fire Ether reset Kyle's mind, and the light around the stone turned white again.

"Can you do that again?" Mandrake asked.

Kyle looked at his stone and remembered how he had felt just now.

A couple of seconds later, he saw the white light turning red.

Mandrake scratched the side of his head in confusion. "You said you have a Metal Affinity, right?"

"Pretty sure I have a Metal Affinity, yes," Kyle said.

"Oh boy," Mandrake said. "I heard about such cases."

"What cases?" Kyle asked.

"You remember how I said that Affinities are related to your personality, mind, and emotions?"

Kyle nodded.

"Well, that's one aspect, but another aspect is the body. As you grow up, your personality shapes the Ether pathways in your body. Someone who was born with a Fire Affinity will almost always have a body that can easily produce Fire Ether."

"But sometimes, there are cases where the body doesn't align with the mind. This means your mind and your body have different Affinities."

"That happens when you have a certain personality fitting to an Affinity but try to suppress it. Someone with a Fire Affinity is prone to anger and violence, but that can be a very bad trait in a village. People generally don't like it when someone constantly shouts at them or easily becomes violent."

"The person might share that viewpoint and try to suppress their anger and become calmer. Over the years, their pathways change, and they have a Split-Affinity."

"Their mind has one Affinity, but their body has another."

Kyle looked at the fiery stone.

He knew exactly where this had come from.

'It's this fucking ritual Theodor put me through,' he thought. 'He said the ritual would grant me a Metal Affinity. The ritual changed my body.'

'But do I actually have a mind fitting for Metal Affinity?'

Kyle thought back to his life on Earth.

Mandrake said that metal was decisive.

Kyle remembered how he often changed his mind on things and how he let himself be suppressed by the world.

'That does not sound decisive,' he thought.

'Most of the time, I just didn't give a shit.'

The Ether on Kyle's stone turned white again.

'I mean, who the fuck cares? Yes, stuff sucks, but if you keep thinking about all the bad stuff, you will just be a miserable pile of shit. Just deal with it.'

'What's the point of anything if you feel like shit doing it?'

"What in the King's name," Kyle heard Mandrake say.

"Huh?" Kyle asked, looking at Mandrake.

Mandrake just wordlessly pointed at Kyle's stone.

Which was now shining green.

"Congratulations again, I guess," Mandrake said. "You just made Wind Ether."

Kyle looked at his stone with surprise and annoyance.

The Wind Ether vanished.

"Seriously?" he asked. "Now, it's wind?"

Mandrake laughed loudly. "Sorry for laughing, but this is too funny."

"You have a Metal Affinity, which means Metal Ether should be the easiest for you to summon."

"But instead, you summon Wind and Fire Ether first."

"It's like your mind and your body are complete opposites."

"Fire is hot and destructive. It is uncontrolled destruction, while metal is controlled destruction."

"Wind is free and uncaring. Meanwhile, metal adheres to rules and makes decisive actions."

"Wind and Fire can be described with many words, but decisive is not one of them."

Mandrake laughed some more while Kyle just looked at the stone in his hand with annoyance.

'Yeah, metal is not for me,' he thought. 'When I swing my hammer, I just want to break and destroy stuff, but most of the time, I just don't give a shit about most things.'

'Fire and wind seem to fit me much better.'

"Are there dual Affinities?" Kyle asked.

"Yep," Mandrake answered. "Around 5% of people have dual Affinities. Their individual Affinities are not as good as someone with only one Affinity, but they can comfortably learn techniques from both Affinities. Having dual Affinities is not better or worse than only having one."

"It's just a different way you have to train and grow."

Then, Mandrake broke out into laughter again.

"But having dual Affinities and your body not fitting either of them is certainly unique. My guy, how have you lived your entire life so that your body developed like this?"

Kyle sighed in annoyance as he remembered Earth.

"Plenty of rules. Not allowed to do shit. Lots of dumb decisions," he said.

"That sounds like a horrible life," Mandrake said with a chuckle. "You probably felt suppressed and felt like you couldn't be who you wanted to be, right?"

Kyle remembered what Magic Lady had told him.

She said that Kyle should follow his heart more.

When had Kyle followed his heart on Earth?

Rarely.

He did what was considered to be the right thing to do.

But that was not what he actually wanted to do.

"Yeah, more or less," Kyle answered.

Kyle wanted to throw a side-eye at Theodor, but Theodor was inside his brain.

In order to throw a side-eye at him, he would need to turn his eyes by 180 degrees, which wasn't really feasible.

So, he was stuck looking at the floor with annoyance.

"Theodor f#cked my Affinities,' he thought.

Then, he sighed.

"But he gave me an Aristocrat's Body. I guess that's better than some Affinities.'

"Well, good and bad stuff, as always.'

Theodor hadn't said anything ever since Mandrake had appeared.

"My guy," Mandrake said. "I think Earth Smash is not the right technique for you. It works with Earth and Metal Affinities, but it doesn't work as well with other Affinities."

Then, Mandrake broke out into laughter again. "I should have known that you don't have a Metal or Earth Affinity just by looking at your hammer."

"Why?" Kyle asked.

"Have you seen that huge thing?" Mandrake asked. "This does not look like controlled destruction at all. Your huge hammer just screams reckless destruction. It perfectly fits someone with a Fire Affinity."

"People with Metal Affinities mostly use swords. They are very disciplined and only pull out their swords when they want to kill someone."

Kyle looked at Mandrake's rapier. "And rapiers are normal for Fighters with Earth Affinities?"

Mandrake was taken aback.

Then, he laughed even louder.

"Okay, you got me there," he said. "Yes, my choice of weapon is also very atypical. People with Earth Affinities walk around with shields most of the time."

The Mandrake winked. "But that's why I got into the royal army, while they have to make do with random jobs."

"You have to craft your identity. There are strengths and weaknesses to every Affinity. By wearing heavy armor and using a shield, you are making use of your strengths as a Fighter with an Earth

Affinity, but that makes your weaknesses even more pronounced."

"They are slow, inflexible, and cumbersome."

"Meanwhile, I can summon walls of earth to defend myself, while I can attack with fast speeds."

"I have an Earth Affinity, but I also focus on Metal Affinities."

Kyle nodded.

That made a lot of sense.

"Is it hard to get into the royal army?" he asked.

"Oh, yeah," Mandrake answered. "The royal army has the best benefits, and they can choose anyone from anywhere. Everyone wants to get in, but there are only sO many open spaces."

"Took me four tries to get in."

Kyle nodded before sighing again.

"Well, there goes Earth Smash.'

Mandrake looked at Kyle for a bit.

Then, he rolled his eyes before shrugging, "How about another technique?" he asked.

Kyle perked up when he heard that. "You're willing to teach me another one?"

"Yep," Mandrake said. "This one is a bit more valuable than Earth Smash, but not by a lot. It shouldn't be an issue to teach you."

"I'm sorry, and thank you," Kyle said.

Mandrake didn't need to teach Kyle anything, but he was still willing to do so.

Kyle respected that.

"Your hammer is quite slow, right? Probably difficult to hit enemies with it,"

Mandrake said.

"Yep," Kyle said with a nod.

"Then, what do you think about learning Air Current?" Mandrake asked.

"What does that do?" Kyle asked.

"It's one of the basic techniques for someone with a Wind Affinity," Mandrake explained. "It reverses air resistance."

"Not sure what that means," Kyle said.

"When you swing your hammer, it probably displaces a lot of air, right?" Mandrake asked. "It probably takes a lot of power to push through that air resistance."

Kyle nodded.

"With Air Current, the air resistance in front of your hammer moves behind your hammer and pushes it forward instead of blocking it. In short, the harder you strike, the more Air Current helps you."

Kyle's eyes widened.

That sounded too good to be true!

"Don't get so excited," Mandrake said with a laugh when he saw Kyle's expression. "It's pretty useful in the First and the beginning of the Second Realm, but at some point, your power will reach a level where air resistance barely matters anymore. That means the boost in speed also barely matters."

"It's nice for the beginning but almost useless later down the line. That's why it's a basic technique and why it's not very valueable.

"I don't care," Kyle said. "It's still better than anything else I know!"

Inside Kyle's mind, Theodor snorted while Mandrake laughed again.

"Alright, then, let's get right to it,"

Mandrake said.

Kyle nodded.

"Summon some Wind Ether on that stone,"

Mandrake said.

Kyle looked at the stone and just let his carefree persona out.

The Ether quickly turned green.

Creating Wind Ether was exceptionally easy for Kyle.

"Good," Mandrake said. "Now, create a circular current. Create many small whirlpools all around your stone."

Kyle furrowed his brows.

The Wind Ether started to move chaotically.

Creating stable whirlpools was not easy.

Yet, Mandrake's brows rose in surprise.

"You're really talented with your Soul. If I didn't know any better, I would think you're a Paladin," he said. "Most people need 30 minutes to get this far."

"Thanks," Kyle said absentmindedly as he focused on the chaotic Wind Ether.

"You're progressing too fast," Theodor spoke up for the first time in a while. "If you learn the technique too quickly, he will become suspicious. Keep it like this for a couple of seconds, and act like you're exhausted."

Kyle couldn't answer, but he followed Theodor's command.

Some seconds later, the Wind Ether dispersed, and Kyle breathed heavily.

"Not bad," Mandrake said. "You did very well on your first try."

Kyle nodded.

Two minutes later, Kyle attempted it again.

Of course, he also failed again.

This repeated for about an hour, and finally, Kyle managed to create several stable whirlpools.

"You're progressing very quickly," Mandrake said. "Wind Ether really fits you."

"The next step is to double the number of whirlpools. Then, you only have to create a connection between them and create a funnel behind your weapon. When you managed to do that, you learned Air Current. The last step would be to practice

it so that you can use it subconsciously during battle. Did you get all that?" Mandrake asked.

"You're progressing very quickly,"

Mandrake said. "Wind Ether really fits you."

"The next step is to double the number of whirlpools. Then, you only have to create a connection between them and create a funnel behind your weapon. When you managed to do that, you learned Air Current. The last step would be to practice it so that you can use it subconsciously during battle. Did you get all that?"

Mandrake asked.

Kyle nodded.

"Good," Mandrake said as he stood up. "The Skysand cloud should be gone by now, and I have things to do. Why don't we take a look?".

Mandrake made a tiny cut in the rubble blocking the entrance and peeked outside.

"Yep, all clear," he said.

Then, he grabbed Kyle's hammer and cleared the entrance with one smash.

As Kyle took his hammer back, he looked at the clear night sky.

The two of them walked out and looked around.

They couldn't see any beast.

"Yeah, I gotta go somewhere else to earn money now," Mandrake said. "I don't think any beasts will show themselves in the next couple of hours."

"Sorry," Kyle said.

"Why sorry?" Mandrake asked. "You were not the one who summoned the Skysand cloud."

"Yeah, sure," Kyle said.

Mandrake looked at Kyle suspiciously.

Then, he remembered where Kyle came from and how he knew about the Stygian Graphite.

Mandrake put his hand to his forehead in realization.

"Wait, you actually were the one who excited the Skysand cloud, right?" he asked.

Kyle felt bad about lying to Mandrake, and he just looked down.

"AHAHAHAHA!"

Mandrake broke into loud laughter.

Then, he slapped Kyle's back with a lot of force, almost making him fall over.

"You're a great guy, Kyle!" he shouted in laughter. "You traveled thorough dormant Skysand cloud. I don't know anyone who is that courageous!"

"Or stupid" Kyle whispered.

Mandrake just laughed more.

"Don't mind it!" Mandrake shouted. "Yes, it was dangerous, but I wouldn't have died. I know how to take care of myself. Also, you told me about the Stygian Graphite. That more than makes up for the Skysand cloud!"

"Sorry," Kyle said again.

"It's fine!" Mandrake shouted. "You're a good man, Kyle!"

"Anyway, I have to get going," Mandrake said, "Do you want to know where the Fire Coast is?"

"Sure," Kyle answered.

Mandrake described the way to the Fire Coast to Kyle.

It was about 25 kilometers to the southwest.

"Go take a break there. You should also advance a Stage before venturing out again. A Peak Adept traveling through the wild is risky, but a Late Adept doing the same thing is akin to suicide."

Kyle nodded. "Thanks again, Mandrake."

Mandrake nodded. "Don't die on me, okay? Maybe I will see you in the royal army in the future, but by then, I will be your superior!"

"I wouldn't have issues with that," Kyle said.

Mandrake hit Kyle's back again with laughter.

"See you, Kyle!"

Then, Mandrake ran towards the north to check out the Stygian Graphite for himself.

He couldn't just forward the hint without looking at it himself.

Kyle sighed.

"Go back into the tunnel and close the entrance," Theodor commanded. "You should learn that technique first before traveling further."

Kyle remained silent as he did as Theodor ordered.

Inside the tunnel, Kyle sat down.

Nobody said anything for a while.

"Who do you think knows more about the world, this Fighter or me?" Theodor asked calmly.

"You," Kyle answered.

"Then, if he knows about Affinities and how they work, do you think I wouldn't know?" Theodor asked.

"You know," Kyle answered.

"Do you think my ritual ruined your natural Affinities?" Theodor asked.

Kyle remained silent.

Based on what he had experienced and what Mandrake had said, the answer was clearly yes.

Yet, Theodor had been a Peak Master Artificer.

Would he make Such a mistake?

"Probably not," Kyle said.

"Of course not, you imbecile!" Theodor shouted. "I could see your annoyance earlier. How did something like that even enter your mind?!"

"Do you honestly think I would ruin my inheritor's future by doing something as dumb as that?!"

Kyle didn't immediately answer.

"You said I have a Metal Affinity," Kyle said.

"Yes, because your new body has a Metal Affinity, Theodor answered. "But this is a different kind of Metal Affinity."

"Different kind?" Kyle asked.

"Yes, it is an additive Affinity," Theodor said. "I gave you Ether pathways that can transport and manipulate Metal Ether very easily."

"But I also left a general framework of Ether pathways in your body. The Metal Affinity does not make it harder for you to use any other kind of Affinities."

"Think about it. How am I supposed to know what kind of Affinity my inheritor would have? I can't! Because of that, I had to make every kind of Affinity fit while also giving them the means to produce golems and to refine ore!"

"Your body can use any kind of Affinity, and it also helps you with refining metals. What your body doesn't do is help you to create Metal Ether."

"It gives you the advantages that a Metal Affinity has outside of combat. Your body does not give you any help when it comes to creating Metal Ether. One is for smithing and mining, The other is for combat."

"I gave you the tools to become a smith and Golemancer, butI did not do that by inhibiting your combat potential!"

"And frankly, I'm insulted that you questioned me!"

Kyle sighed.

"Sorry," he said.

"The fact that you thought that I would make such a rookie mistake insults me!" Theodor shouted.

"Yes, yes, I already said I'm sorry, Boss," Kyle said with annoyance.

"To correct the mistakes of that random Fighter," Theodor said. "Your mind has a dual Affinity for Fire and Wind, but you do not have a Split Affinity. You have a regular dual Affinity, and you just so happen to have some of the advantages that a Metal Affinity has."

"You do not have any talent for creating Metal Ether, but your body allows you to make use of some of the strengths of Metal Affinities without hindering your other Affinities,"

Theodor snorted again. "You really have a dwarf brain if you can't even see that."

Kyle sighed again.

Of course, Theodor's constant abuse was getting on his nerves, but sadly, Theodor was also right.

Because of that, Kyle didn't talk back.

"Now, go learn your first technique," Theodor said. "With your talent, you should master it within 30 minutes."

"Sure thing, Boss," Kyle said in exasperation.

Then, he took out his hammer and summoned some Wind Ether.

A whole bunch of stable whirlpools formed around it.

Now, he just needed to combine them and create the funnel.

Sure enough, it wasn't very difficult for Kyle to combine the whirlpools and create the funnel.

As Kyle held his hammer in front of him, he saw green Ether swirling around it.

'It looks almost like one of these aerodynamics simulations of cars,' Kyle thought as he looked at the swirling hammer.

'It almost looks like it's in motion or something'

Kyle slowly walked out of the tunnel and Swung his hammer.

"Whoa," he said as his hammer moved almost on its own.

He had barely used any power, but the hammer still completed a full swing,

"This is crazy!" Kyle said.

"This is a Fighter technique," Theodor said. "Without these techniques, Fighters are just normal humans."

Kyle swung his hammer again, and this time, he actually used some power.

As the hammer swung through the air, it didn't make any noise. After all, it didn't really displace any air.

"This is so weird," Kyle said.

"Get used to it," Theodor said. "The more techniques you know, the better."

At that point, Kyle remembered Fennek's fiery swords.

"Hey, Boss," Kyle said. "What's the difference between Knight techniques and Fighter techniques? They basically look the same to me "

"Ether usage," Theodor answered. "The techniques are similar, but they achieve similar effects in different ways."

"Knights do not have a powerful mind, which makes them barely more intelligent than normal humans. Because of that, their minds have difficulties in moving their Ether in a complex way."

"Look at all these whirlpools around your mining weapon. You have to visualize every single whirlpool to keep the technique active. You can do that because of your improved mind. Theoretically, Knights can do the same thing, but it takes them tens, if not hundreds, of times longer to practice these techniques."

"Someone with advanced spatial imagination can perfectly imagine a spinning dodecahedron in their mind, while an idiot can't even imagine a spinning cube."

Kyle had no idea what a dodecahedron was, but it was probably some fancy object. He still understood the sentiment that Theodor tried to convey.

"Then, how do Knights use their abilities?" Kyle asked.

"Brute force," Theodor said. "Their application of Ether is much simpler, but since they had an improved Center, they just use ten times the amount of Ether with their techniques."

"Metaphorically, Knights launch huge waves of fire, while Fighters throw smal balls of fire that explode on impact. Both of these attacks cause similar levels of damage, but they are different."

Kyle hada thought at that point.

"But I have an improved Center as well. So, I can just use a lot more Ether while using Fighter techniques, right?" he asked.

"Do you finally understand why Warriors, and especially Experts, are terrifying opponents?" Theodor asked.

Kyle remembered that Warrior was the official name of a Second Realm human who didn't undergo any rituals, while Expert was the name for the Third Realm.

"Is the power increase double witha ritual?" Kyle asked.

"Roughly," Theodor answered. "If a normal human has a power level of one in every Aspect of Power, a Knight has 2.5 in body and Center and only 0.2 in mind and Soul.

The concentration of Ether has its own use, which further increases the power. That's why it's not 2, 2, 0, 0."

Kyle did something that he rarely did.

He did math!

He treated the calculations about powers the same way he treated his business on Earth.

"2.5 times 0.2 is 0.5. Meanwhile, 1 times 1 is 1.

"So, a Warrior has double the power of a Knight?" Kyle asked.

"Did you just do math?" Theodor asked in surprise.

"I can do math!" Kyle answered.

Theodor raised a metaphorical eyebrow.

"The numbers in my example were not very accurate. You can't calculate everything based on that."

"Theoretically, a Warrior can unleash 50% more power than a Knight or Fighter, but that's only under optimal conditions, and that only considers the application of Ether. Physical power can't be calculated with Ether, but it is still an important aspect during a fight. Warriors are not outstanding because of their Aspects but because they lack weaknesses."

"The Warrior needs to learn Fighter techniques and learn advanced Ether control via Knight meditation. He needs to know twice as much as a Fighter or a Knight. Additionally, just getting these techniques is not easy or free."

"Additionally, the numbers take an entire fight of stored Ether into account. While the Warrior's average power is higher, a Knight has much more instantaneous power since they have a lot more Ether."

"Lastly, Aspects of Power can be strengthened further. During the third trial I created, there were several ores that could improve your Aspects of Power.

Knights receive these by working for the Kingdom, while Fighters can obtain them in other means.

"A Warrior would need to get far more materials since they have four Aspects to strengthen instead of two. Additionally, the spread of Ether makes efficient absorption of improving properties more difficult, pushing the amount of materials needed to four times instead of two."

"In optimal conditions, yes, the Warrior would be twice as powerful as a Knight or Fighter, but getting there is difficult."

"Many Warriors are quite outstanding, A rule of thumb regarding their power is to take the power of an equivalent Knight and multiply it by 1.2."

Kyle nodded. He roughly understood what Theodor was explaining.

"What about someone with an Aristocrat's body?" Kyle asked.

"2, 2, 2, 2, if you use my arbitrary numbers from earlier," Theodor answered.

Kyle grinned widely.

"Don't get too excited," Theodor said. "Yes, on a baseline, you are far stronger than an equivalent Adept or Squire."

"But let me ask you..."

"If you fought a Late Squire, who would win?"

Kyle's energy left him.

"I.. don't know," Kyle said.

"That is the correct answer. Surprising, considering you have a dwarf brain,"

Theodor said.

"Squires have trained their combat abilities for years, while you barely have two months below your belt. A fight between you and a Late Squire would be equivalent to a fight between a bear and an experienced but normal human with a strong spear. It could go either way."

"You have a lot to learn. You need a lot of materials to improve your Aspects further. You need to learn how to use all four Aspects of Power."

"Theoretically, you can become almost unrivaled, but the way to that destination is a harder and longer path than the others."

Kyle took a deep breath.

'Fu#king work. I hate work.'

Then, he remembered the last couple of months.

'But I've gotten quite used to working.

"Well, it's gonna suck, but I guess it will be worth it.'

After swinging his hammer a couple more times, Kyle focused on his journey ahead.

"I guess it's time to continue," he said.

"You should be safe for now," Theodor said. "The Skysand cloud should have made almost all beasts retreat. Make use of this opportunity."

Kyle nodded and ran towards the southwest.

His goal was the Fire Coast.

Kyle passed by a couple of small mountains and hills.

When he saw another canyon, he stopped.

"Should I go through the canyon?" Kyle asked.

"Usually, yes, but this is not the usual case," Theodor said. "Just walk around it."

"Sure thing, Boss," Kyle said.

He went to the right side of the canyon and ran near its edge.

If necessary, he could jump into the canyon and try to hide.

Yet, as Kyle kept running, he didn't see a single beast.

"Can you see the black column of smoke in the distance?" Theodor asked.

Kyle looked at the horizon, and sure enough, he saw a tiny black cloud rising from the horizon.

Looking into the distance was weird since fantasy land was obviously on a round planet, but it was so much smaller than Earth.

The horizon was not nearly as far away as on Earth.

"As the name implies, Fire Coast is a Fire Cradle. Fire Coast already existed back when I was still alive, and it is essentially a big volcano. The cloud you're seeing is coming from that volcano. That is your goal."

"Sure thing, Boss," Kyle answered as he kept running.

After running for a couple of kilometers, Kyle slowed down.

He saw a huge ant walking across a hill in the distance.

"That thing has to be like two meters long!' Kyle thought.

Kyle's instincts told him that the ant was a bit dangerous, but not a lot.

However, Kyle knew that ants were never alone.

"Hillstalker Ant," Theodor said. "They are troublesome. One of them isn't dangerous, but their nests contain between twenty and two thousand ants."

"They are a pest. This nest is not close enough to the Fire Coast to be a nuisance, but the rulers of the Fire Coast are probably also not comfortable with its presence."

That was when Kyle saw the Hillstalker Ant turning its head to him.

"It saw you," Theodor said.

Kyle's heart rate rose. "From so far away? I thought ants couldn't see very well! Don't they use their feelers for everything?"

"Why do you think Hillstalker Ants are called Hillstalker Ants?" Theodor asked with a snort. "They climb hills and use their quite developed eyes to survey the surrounding landscape."

Then, Kyle saw the Hillstalker Ant retreating behind the hill.

"That was just a scout," Theodor said. "It is going to alert the ant warriors, and they will come for you."

Kyle gulped. "What am I supposed to do?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Theodor asked.

"Run away?" Kyle asked.

"Apparently, it wasn't obvious to you," Theodor said with annoyance. "No, you are going to kill them."

"Kill them?!" Kyle shouted. "But there are so many!"

"So?" Theodor asked. "They use their numbers to overwhelm their enemies, but their enemies are stupid beasts. You are faster than them, and as long as you don't let yourself get surrounded, you will only be fighting two at a time."

That was when the scouting ant returned.

The next moment, five huge ants appeared behind the scout ant.

They were twice as big and had gigantic pincers.

Just their pincers were already as long as the scout ant!

These ants felt quite dangerous to Kyle.

That was when Kyle saw the warrior ants charging right at him.

"You said they were slow!" Kyle shouted as he saw the ants running towards him.

"I didn't say they were slow," Theodor said. "I said you are faster."

"Yeah, by a bit!" Kyle shouted.

The five ants ran towards Kyle, two at the front and three at the back.

Kyle saw them coming closer and closer.

He became nervous as he activated Air Current on his hammer.

As the ants came closer, Kyle jumped back.

"Stop retreating!" Theodor shouted. "Attack!"

The ants followed Kyle, and their pincers extended, ready to strike.

I can't get hit by those!' Kyle thought as he looked at the pincers.

"Well, here goes nothing!"

Kyle's grip on his hammer tightened, and he jumped forward.

He swung his hammer to the left with incredible speed.

The hammer hit one of the pincers.

CRACK!

The pincer exploded off the ant's head, and the ant flew towards the left, hitting the ant beside it.

When Kyle saw that, he blinked a couple of times in surprise.

'Huh, that was-'

"Move!" Theodor shouted.

The other ant was barely inhibited in its movement and reached Kyle.

The other three ants climbed over the first ant and also approached.

Kyle jumped back, but a jump backward wasn't as fast as a full-on charge.

Kyle found himself in reach of the pincers.

If they closed, he would be hit.

At that moment, Kyle's instincts took over. He immediately stopped and ran forward.

CRACK!

The pincers closed explosively, but Kyle got past all of the pincer's spikes.

He grabbed his hammer just below the head and moved it up.

CRACK!

The pick of the hammer buried itself in the ant's head, killing it in an instant.

"Imbecile!" Theodor shouted in anger.

Kyle quickly pushed the pincers away...

But failed.

The ant was dead, but its pincers were locked, keeping him in place.

"Fu#k!' Kyle thought as he saw another warrior ant climbing over the one stuck to him.

That was when Kyle moved his hammer upward.

The corpse was lifted together with the ant on it.

CRACK!

The ant's head detached from the body, while the body and the other ant flew over Kyle.

Now, Kyle had a head and two two-meter-long pincers stuck on his waist.

Sadly, he didn't have any time to deal with them since the other three ants approached him.

He turned around and immediately started running.

CRK!

But then, he was violently stopped as one of the ants clamped down on the pincers stretching out from behind Kyle.

The other two ants charged at Kyle, while the one that had been thrown earlier also approached him from his front.

He was surrounded.

The one thing Theodor said not to let happen..
