Chapter 695: Player One |
Hearing the exchange between the leader of Team One and Gao Ming, the other security members were silent. They didn’t have the ability to escape with so many corpses. The bodies had to be taken care of if they were taken out of the tank. Having them possessed might be the best solution for now.
“This lab contains Immortal Pharma’s many secrets. They won’t allow this place to be exposed. We should split up.”
After the security members woke up, Gao Ming shared his real plan. “I will place some special ghosts into the vessels. Zhang Ding, you’ll drive the ship and lead them to Jiujiang to distract Immortal Pharma. The rest will come with me. We’ll get off the ship around Xin Lu to find Huang Yin.”
Gao Ming shared the information about the Haunted House Boss with Zhang Ding. He handed over his worker ID. He realised after he conversed with No. 2 that Jiujiang Blood City was the Central Blood City of the inner world. It was in a war with the Blood City hidden in the dark.
According to legends, Jiujiang Blood City was previously very weak and isolated. It was the ambition of its owner to give every eye that had gotten used to the dark to see light, and Jiujiang started to become scary. They used chains to lock Jiujiang in the middle of the Blood Cities. There was rarely war between the Blood Cities, but once there was one, it would not end until one side was wiped out. Jiujiang probably wouldn’t have the time to handle anything else.
Gao Ming gave Zhang Ding some private missions. He didn’t provide the details to Zhang Ding in front of the security members.
“Boss Zhang left a part of his flood inside my torture room, so we can communicate at any moment. If everything goes well, we’ll meet up at Xin Lu Blood City.”
Gao Ming assigned different people different tasks. He delegated the jobs wisely.
…
“I didn’t know the sky could be so bright…”
The destroyed ship floated on the sea. The dreaming crew drove it towards the horizon.
On the other side, Gao Ming and the leader of Team One got on a trash truck. Wan Jie leaned on the door with his eyes closed. He hadn’t said anything since they got off the ship last night.
“Where are we going now?”
“The trash site.”
The honk beeped. Molten Fire Trash Management Centre’s gate opened. The truck stopped when it was deep underground.
“This place still hasn’t been discovered, right?” Gao Ming saw Brother Chong instantly. The self-inflicted wounds on his body deepened.
“Thanks to you, Immortal Pharma doesn’t have the time to deal with us.” Brother Chong was in a good mood. Anyone would be happy to have a powerful ally like Gao Ming.
“Where’s Zhang Mingli?”
“He’s been targeted by an Unmentionable. It behoves us not to mention him lest we get discovered.” Brother Chong was hopeful. After all, the worst was over. With Zhang Mingli and Gao Ming, everything could only get better.
“The less you know, the happier you’ll be.” No. 2 sighed.
“I need a lot of taboo game helmets. How many can you collect for me?” Gao Ming cut straight to the point.
“We have around ten in storage.”
“That is not enough.” Gao Ming frowned. “Didn’t the game used to have more than a million players?”
“Most of the gaming devices have been confiscated by Immortal Pharma. I can ask the other players for you.” Brother Chong made a quick calculation. “I think I can get around a hundred for you.”
Sensing the power surging inside the torture room, Gao Ming shook his head. “I need at least ten thousand of them.”
“I don’t think I can help you. Only Immortal Pharma might have that many. Wait…” Brother Chong hesitated. “There might be another place.”
“Where?”
“Perfect Life’s game graveyard.” Brother Chong didn’t want to share this secret, but for the sake of the big picture, he explained, “Perfect Life was meant to be a bridge between life and death. Many players were at the end of their lives. They chose to upload their consciousness into the game. I didn’t know if they succeeded or not, but as Perfect Life was banned, these people’s consciousnesses would have evaporated even if they succeeded. However, their devices were preserved. During our massive conflict with Immortal Pharma, more and more players were forced to commit brain death. To memorialise these people, we placed their gaming devices in the same place. We call it Life Cemetery. Only Huang Yin knows its exact location.”
“So, we still need Huang Yin.”
“We have been looking for him too. However, he’s too mysterious.” Brother Chong shrugged helplessly. “If you’re desperate, I can lend you the gaming helmets here first.”
“I know where Huang Yin is. Once you enter Perfect Life, I can locate him.” No. 2 knew what Gao Ming wanted.
Saying goodbye to Wan Jie and the leader of Team One, Gao Ming and Brother Chong headed underground. He had been here before and easily found the gaming chamber he used last time. He didn’t waste time. He connected the wires and logged into the game. After the healing voice ended, Gao Ming appeared inside the Death Building. Perfect Life was similar to Han Hai, constructed by the world’s saviours. It was a world teetering between the brain and the inner world. It could collapse at any moment.
“There’s a dresser here that was previously used by a Pure Hatred. Following my instructions, carve down the dates at different spots.” No. 2 guided Gao Ming. “The dates are important to Huang Yin and the saviour. I don’t remember the significance of the dates, but I do remember the dates themselves.”
With the players watching in shock, Gao Ming walked to the dresser in the middle of the building. He opened the door, which was covered in a flesh ghost pattern and a dream trace. He crawled into it.
Gao Ming wrote down about ten dates in different corners. When he carved down the last date, the temperature inside the dresser plummeted.
After a long time, Gao Ming heard rapid footsteps from outside the dresser. A pair of hands yanked open the door.
The chill wind touched Gao Ming’s face. A heavily injured middle-aged man stood outside the dresser. His brilliant eyes dimmed with wariness when he saw it was Gao Ming inside the dresser. He darted back.
“Huang Yin?”
There were worm-like curses crawling in the man’s wounds. His exposed skin was covered by the black mist. The darkness slowly consumed his face. The middle-aged man looked like he was dying.
