Chapter 691: Voting |
“I became a Dream Ghost outside of Han Hai. My power is different from yours. The rules I have are from outside Han Hai.” Gao Ming told the truth. “The real world has many disciples and altars. It is rife with emotions required by ghosts. Lost memories sedimented in nightmares. These are all nutrients needed to become Dream Ghosts.”
The five exchanged thoughts. The boy questioned, “The reason behind the black mist losing control is because of the war between Blood City, which has fallen into darkness, and the central Blood City. The other Blood Cities haven’t made any move. In fact, they are planning to go after Xin Lu Blood City. This is our best chance.”
The boy’s words caused No. 2 to become nervous. He was trapped in Immortal Pharma. He had lost contact with Xin Lu Blood City. He didn’t know what happened there.
“Xin Lu Blood City connects the real world and the fake world. It is closest to the inner world. It is filled with unimaginable power and memory. Even the other Blood City Owners want a piece of it. If we can snatch enough resources from there, we can rebuild Han Hai!” The boy persuaded the other four. He made rational arguments.
“If Xin Lu is so good, do you think they’ll give us a cut?” The elder hesitated. “If we intervened, we’d only get destroyed.”
“The chance is not going to be here forever! If we wait for the other Blood City owners, we’ll end up with nothing!” The boy argued. They had different personalities, but they all worked for Han Hai. Jing Tuoshen watched this silently.
Gao Ming observed everything. He had seen multiple futures, but this was his first time to enter the core of the headquarters.
“Actually, we don’t need to argue. Even if we don’t agree, he’ll still do it.” The kind middle-aged woman rubbed her hair. “Our words no longer carry that much weight in Han Hai. Since we can’t destroy the other party, we shall listen to them. We’ll vote and decide. Raise your hand if you agree to use the path to leave Han Hai to reach Xin Lu.”
The youngest boy and the middle-aged man raised their hands. The elder and the middle-aged woman didn’t move. They turned to a young man who had been silent. She appeared to be asleep. Her eyes were closed.
“My suggestion is related to the entirety of Han Hai, so naturally, we need the opinions of everyone in Han Hai.” The door of the torture room creaked open. Scary presences leaked out. When Gao Ming raised his head, the God of Flesh and Blood, Yan Xizhi, Gui Yuan and the cursed objects of the various sick zones appeared. Every horror game player in Han Hai sensed it. The giant tree in East City swallowed everyone’s fear. The student council members turned to the north side. There was a reply deep inside the shadow world.
“I’m not here to discuss things with you.” Gao Ming knew how to deal with the headquarters. “I trusted you once, and you almost killed me with a trap. To prevent the same thing from happening, I’ve prepared for the worst. I waited until now because you were more reasonable than I thought.” Gao Ming’s reasoning was simple. He didn’t allow the headquarters the courage to go against him.
“Even with me, you only have three votes.” The middle-aged woman sighed and raised her hand. For her, the headquarters had lost control of Han Hai.
The old man was worried. “Five Dream Ghosts are far from enough to take down one Unmentionable. This is too reckless.”
“The voting has passed. What you need to do now is decide what to do next. Send some people to Xin Lu and make use of the other owners’ greed towards Xin Lu.” The boy was direct. He didn’t know he had injured No. 2.
Han Hai was a prison, and Xin Lu was served. The owners prepared their utensils, but the saviours hadn’t returned.
“When we reach Xin Lu, I’ll do my best to help you find the saviour’s altars so you can contact them.” Gao Ming whispered to No. 2. “Han Hai has been destroyed by the other Blood Cities. Now, you can only rely on Han Hai.” Since No. 2 didn’t reply, Gao Ming concluded, “My promise hasn’t changed.”
For Gao Ming, Xin Lu and Han Hai were in the same boat. Han Hai couldn’t deal with the other Blood Cities on its own, but the saviour’s return might change everything.
“Han Hai is built by the world’s saviours. When Han Hai can protect itself, it’ll naturally help Xin Lu. This is karma.”
“Don’t bring karma into this. As long as you don’t sacrifice any humans after you reach the real world, I’ll be thankful.” No. 2 couldn’t say anything else since he was merely a consciousness.
“Gao Ming, can we know where and how to use the passage? That will make it easier for us to select the investigators to join you.” The elder wanted to know more, but Gao Ming rejected him.
“It’s hard to become a Dream Ghost in Han Hai, but you’ll have more chances in Xin Lu Blood City. I suggest you search out those who are one step away from metamorphosis. As for the investigator candidates, I only need fifty people.”
“Fifty?! That few?”
“That’s already a lot. Every quota is precious. When you’ve decided, come find me at the East City Investigation Centre.”
They confirmed more details. Gao Ming’s trip went smoother than he thought. The headquarters may have already come to a decision before he arrived.
“Our cooperation will only deepen. Before that, I need to request something from you. I need you to allow someone to join me. He is the former main commander of Xin Lu Investigation Centre’s security department, Wan Jie.” Wan Jie was key for Gao Ming to deal with Immortal Pharma.
“Wan Jie?” The boy stopped talking. The middle-aged man and woman turned to the old man.
“Is that too hard?”
“We’ve promised someone else to look after him, but our cooperation with you is more important. You can take him.” The old man waved. Jing Tuoshen led Gao Ming out. The passage with life and death changed again. The platform faded away. Emotionless humans continued to transfer messages. The investigation centre headquarters was like a mad war machine.
