Chapter 1110: Healing (1) |
The Grand Elder was momentarily stunned, and the other elders and dragon kings around him also furrowed their brows.
The hot-tempered Fire Dragon King couldn't help but say, "That won't do. What if you—"
Before he could finish, Liu Weichao silenced him with an icy glare.
"We can't delay any longer. Otherwise, he won't last another day," Tang San said grimly.
He could heal Xu An'yu—and, truth be told, he was the only one in the world who could. But such treatment would inevitably expose some of his secrets, so it couldn't be done in front of the other dragons.
Liu Weichao took a deep breath and said, "Your Majesty, may I remain? If you have secrets to protect, I swear on my life that I'll take them to the grave, whether or not Xu An'yu survives."
Hearing this, Tang San was moved. After a brief pause, he nodded and said, "Alright. You are a loyal man, and I appreciate that. But I will need you to swear a Blood Oath afterward."
"Agreed." Liu Weichao sighed in relief. Tang San's response implied not only sincerity, but confidence. He really could do something.
The others were dismissed, leaving only Tang San, Liu Weichao, and the unconscious Xu An'yu in the room.
Tang San stood by the window, in the sunlight. A gentle bluish-golden light started to glow on his skin as dense life energy began to radiate outward. Even Liu Weichao felt his spirits lift at the vibrant aura of that high-level life energy.
Tang San raised his right hand and reached toward Xu An'yu, slowly infusing life energy into him. The latter was far too weak; before any healing could begin, his life force had to be replenished to ensure his safety.
Given the severity of Xu An'yu's injuries, only Tang San, or maybe two Emperors working together, stood a real chance of saving him. But even two Emperors working together couldn't match Tang San's harmony and control, and even all Emperors combined had no control over life energy.
As the life energy poured in, a touch of rosiness returned to Xu An'yu's pallid face, and his breath stabilized. Tang San didn't stop; while continuing the infusion, he extended his left hand, and a speck of strange white light drifted out. It did not make contact with Xu An'yu, but just hovered over his chest.
Liu Weichao watched nervously. Xu An'yu was like a son to him, and more than that, he was the hope of the dragon race.
The dragon race was undoubtedly the strongest race on the continent, but such strength came with its own issues. Most notably, each dragon lineage was powerful and proud, almost invariably refusing to submit to another. Thus, only when a truly supreme figure emerged to unify them could the dragons reach their peak—like when the Crystal Demon Emperor had ruled. As Dragon Lord and First Emperor, she had compelled even the wildest of the dragon clans into submission, leading to unprecedented prosperity. But she had never shown interest in expanding or, indeed, even properly ruling the race; otherwise, the dragons might've become even stronger. Perhaps they would have given rise to even more Emperors.
Her sudden demise had left the dragon race unprepared. With her gone, only the Tenebrous Demon Emperor remained among the Emperors, and as a Tenebrous Dragon known for his demonic tendencies, his relations with other dragons were strained. To prevent him from becoming Dragon Lord, the clan had fought bitterly, eventually rallying behind Xu An'yu.
In terms of strength, heritage, talent, and potential, Xu An'yu was the brightest star of the dragon race, their best hope of producing another Crystal Demon Emperor. He had proven it in the Battle for the Throne, where he would've been champion if not for Tang San's unexpected rise.
No one had imagined that after reaching Crown Prince status, he would be ambushed so brutally. If he died now, the fragile unity of the dragon race would shatter once more. As Grand Elder, Liu Weichao could not bear that outcome.
So of course, he was tense beyond words.
He dared not use his divine consciousness too much, for fear of accidentally interfering; instead, he relied on his physical senses.
When that speck of white light appeared, Liu Weichao trembled. Though it was tiny and seemed unremarkable, to his incredibly refined senses, it felt as if it contained an entire world. Even his bloodline power surged uncontrollably, as if yearning to fuse with that white radiance.
Just then, the white light trembled, sending out rippling waves. Around it, a mysterious gravitational force formed.
From Xu An'yu's body, red and blue strands of light began to drift outward, drawn into the white glow, and then vanished.
Seeing this, Liu Weichao's eyes widened in shock, then lit up in elation. Hope—this was hope!
They had exhausted all the dragon race's reserves, tried every possible method and rare treasure, but none could eliminate the invasive energy within Xu An'yu. Yet Tang San's method had begun to yield results from the very first moment.
And how could it not? Tang San was intimately familiar with the energy within Xu An'yu, for it was none other than the extreme forces of yin and yang.
When he first sensed the dual forces inside Xu An'yu, Tang San's immediate thought was how lucky his friend was to be alive.
After all, the amount of energy within Xu An'yu was tremendous, at the level of a divine item, yet unlike Tang San, he had no chaos energy to moderate it. In other words, those extreme yin and yang forces had been clashing violently within him. The fact that he was still alive, even barely, was a testament to both the potent treasures used to support him and his incredible physical resilience. Especially noteworthy was the wisp of holy light guarding his heart, clearly the power of the Light Sprite. Without that, he'd have perished long ago.
Tang San didn't even need to think to know what had wounded Xu An'yu: It was undoubtedly some kind of prototype divine item forged by the Sunborne Nymph Emperor and the Earthshade Nymph Emperor while experimenting with yin-yang fusion. A failed product that would undoubtedly explode upon use, but precisely for that reason, absolutely terrifying.
He could easily picture it. In the ambush, two such disposable divine weapons had likely been used to slaughter the other guards and breach Xu An'yu's defenses. The final blow must've been an eruption of yin and yang that invaded his body directly. A true assassination strike. But Xu An'yu had proven far tougher than expected; he had somehow managed to survive and return to Crystal City.
The speck of light Tang San had released was, of course, a wisp of chaos energy; nothing better could neutralize the yin and yang within. It was even something of a boon for him, as absorbing those forces would even nourish his own Chaos Blue Silver Emperor.
As red and blue strands of energy continued to swirl into the white light, Tang San also sustained the flow of life energy into Xu An'yu, keeping his condition stable and healing the internal injuries left by the yin-yang clash.
