Book 4: Chapter 5 |
Before the two sources of entertainment from the Sea Dragon Clan—ah, no, correction, before the two guests from the Sea Dragon Clan arrived, Leon needed to recover from his injuries first.
After all, fulfilling the promise he had once made to Claudia required a healthy body.
Speaking of being injured, the battle in the Empire had also made Leon faintly aware of his own limits.
If not for the second dragon sigil storing double the mana, and if not for Lothswisse’s heart-protecting dragon scale, then Night Armor would have been Leon’s final dance.
Even the strongest dragon slayer could not withstand the backlash of opening all nine gates at once.
No wonder the ancient text of Nine Hells Gate repeatedly emphasized phrases like “very few people in the world can open all nine gates.”
It constantly reminded practitioners that obtaining power beyond one’s limits required paying a corresponding price—and that price was sometimes unimaginably high.
So after resolving the Empire’s crisis, Leon began thinking about how to break through his current limit.
Setting aside the fact that the former queen Elizabeth was still at large, even Constantine’s side was not something Leon could fully relax about. Although Constantine had played a role in taking down the Empire, that didn’t mean he truly stood on Leon’s side.
He possessed vast primal power, and with Constantine’s battle-hungry personality, he would never let such power go to waste.
Moreover, Constantine had personally declared that he would defeat Leon one day.
Add to that the various undercurrents stirring within dragonkind, and Leon could find no reason to lay down and enjoy a peaceful retirement.
So in order to protect himself and those he cared about in such a chaotic era, he needed to become stronger.
Stronger than he was now.
Of course, while he couldn’t completely “lie flat” just yet, Leon still granted himself a small vacation.
After all, he had just dealt with the Empire’s mess, and while recovering from his injuries, he wanted to rest properly for a while.
Spending time chatting with his daughters every day, guiding their magic practice, listening to his sweet little treasures call him “Daddy” over and over—
Now this was real stay-at-home dad life!
However…
Someone didn’t want Leon to enjoy a quiet vacation.
Lothswisse Merkwy, Queen of the Silver Dragons, a widely acknowledged workaholic, and one of only two beings in the world capable of restraining Leon—
the other being Little Light’s uppercut.
Ever since returning from the Empire, Leon had been deliberately avoiding Lothswisse.
On the first day, Lothswisse asked Leon to bathe with her.
Leon politely declined with, “Your Majesty inspected the border today and must be exhausted from the journey. You should rest early.”
On the second day, Lothswisse wanted Leon to take a look at the black lace slip nightdress she had just bought and see if it looked good.
Leon declined again with, “Wife, you’re a natural clothes hanger—everything looks good on you! I’m sleepy, going to bed!”
On the third day, Lothswisse brought out a brown hard candy, saying it was Little Light’s newly refined concentrated, harmless dragon-strength candy with stable effects, and urged Leon to try it.
Leon rejected her for the third time, saying, “I am the strongest dragon slayer. If I’m eating dragon-strength candy, it has to be the Pro Max version. I wouldn’t even touch a mere concentrated version.”
On the fourth day—
“Tonight, after you finish bathing, wait for me in bed, captive.”
The queen issued her command with authority, no longer bothering with any “marital coded language,” and stating things plainly to prevent this idiot from finding more excuses to dodge his obligations.
“…I’m a bit tired. How about tomorrow?” Leon struggled weakly.
“Don’t humans have a saying that goes, ‘Tomorrow upon tomorrow, how many tomorrows there are’? It’s meant to remind you to cherish time and do what needs to be done today.”
“You remembered it wrong, wife. It’s actually ‘Tomorrow upon tomorrow, there are indeed many tomorrows,’ meaning life is long and nothing is truly urgent. Even if you put it off until tomorrow, it’s fine,” Leon said with a straight face, fabricating nonsense.
The queen snorted coldly. “Life is long? Longer than mine?”
“Uh…” Leon was momentarily speechless.
Right—hers was longer.
“S-so… is it really that urgent, Mother Dragon?”
“I’m not in a hurry.”
Lothswisse said calmly. “I just think you’ve worked very hard these past days and are under a lot of pressure. I want to help you relax. I’m doing this for your own good.”
“Wow, your reasoning is truly flawless!”
Lothswisse tilted her head slightly, arms crossed, her beautiful silver eyes sizing Leon up.
After a moment, she asked meaningfully,
“Leon.”
“What?”
“You’re not… having a midlife crisis, are you?”
General Leon froze and blinked. “A m-midlife crisis…”
“Yes. I’ve heard that when human men reach a certain age, they gradually lose that kind of desire and become detached from worldly wants. Even their bodies start to—tsk, tsk, tsk. So that’s why you’ve been rejecting me all this time, isn’t it?”
“Nonsense! I’m only twenty-five! My body’s perfectly fine! Where would a midlife crisis even come from?!”
Hearing this, Lothswisse revealed a triumphant smile.
For Leon, provocation was an old trick—but a very effective one.
“Then go take a bath.”
“…”
Only then did Leon realize he had fallen into the Mother Dragon’s trap again.
In truth, his repeated refusal to “hand in homework” had nothing to do with a so-called midlife crisis—it was careful planning for the future.
During the Empire battle, Leon had opened with a big move, consuming an entire dragon sigil’s worth of mana to cast Dragon Annihilation.
After that, he had used all his remaining mana to open the Ninth Gate.
After the battle, his right leg had fractured from the power backlash and was still wrapped in a cast.
In other words, Leon was currently in a state of empty mana and low health.
If he were to engage in passionate activity with the Mother Dragon in this condition, the initiative throughout the entire process would be firmly in her hands.
Just thinking about it was terrifying!
That was why Leon had been finding excuses to refuse Lothswisse these past few days.
He had planned to muddle through until his body recovered a bit, and only then face the Mother Dragon on equal footing.
But then again, people who share a bed rarely think differently.
If Leon’s reason for refusing was that his current physical state would make him lose control—
then naturally, Lothswisse was thinking the exact same thing.
Strike while he’s sick—finish him off!
If she didn’t give him an unforgettable “giant dragon impact,” he might truly forget his status as a captive!
And she had been planning this ever since the day they returned from the Empire.
Today was simply the moment she had lost all patience and decided to play her hand openly.
If he dared refuse again, she was prepared to use some “violent” measures.
The couple stared at each other.
After a long moment, Leon yielded, deciding to make one last attempt at gaining sympathy.
“Lothswisse, look, my leg injury hasn’t healed yet. It’s inconvenient to move around… and if I exert myself too much, it might worsen the injury. You wouldn’t want your husband to be stuck with a cane for the rest of his life, right?”
“It’s fine. You don’t need to move.”
The queen’s tone remained calm—and it was with that same calm tone that she delivered the next explosive line.
“I can move on top by myself.”
Leon: ?
“Outrageous words! Outrageous words!!”
“What are you yelling for? It’s not like we’ve never tried that position before.”
“I-it still won’t work…”
“Tsk.”
Lothswisse frowned slightly and clicked her tongue in impatience.
“If you say ‘no’ one more time, you’ll really be killing the mood.”
After a pause, she also showed some understanding toward Leon’s current physical condition.
“Fine. Since it’s inconvenient, we’ll switch to a relatively safer method.”
Leon looked up, an ominous feeling instantly rising in his heart.
“What… method?”
Lothswisse rose from the bedside, her bare, jade-white feet stepping lightly as she walked toward Leon. She lifted her hand and gently unfastened her bra.
Soft fullness escaped its restraint and bounced free.
Moonlight poured in through the window, sprinkling softly over those tender hues.
Faced with such a fragrant and seductive sight, Leon couldn’t help but blush slightly.
“Lothswisse…”
“It’s my first time trying this. If I don’t do well, please be understanding.”
“Huh?”
Don’t do this, Mother Dragon. Saying that only makes this scarier!
