Chapter 3111: Final Heartbeat

[Your shadow has been destroyed.]

As one of his Shadow Cores exploded, a few others cracking from the aftershock of the devastating blow, Sunny was blinded by pain. He staggered and fell to his knees — all of his remaining incarnations did, some hidden from sight in the dark embrace of shadows, some surrounded by people, some waging war against terrifying abominations on calamitous battlefields.

‘N—not good...’

He had lost a Shadow Core, becoming a Terror once again — in an instant. One of his seven shadows, the crazy guy, had also been destroyed. Sunny did not have time to mourn the death of his invaluable helper, though, or think about how easily his incarnation had been killed.

How easily he had been killed.

After all, the disaster was not yet over.

The Unholy Nightmare Creature was still there, and neither Sunny nor Nephis were out of danger. In fact, Sunny thought that he would be lucky to only lose one incarnation today. That thing in the Abyss... to say that it scared him would be no different from describing an asteroid impact as bad weather. There were simply no words in the human language to name the feeling it inspired.

Sunny was shaken.

However, he had to act, and he had to act fast.

There had been two of his incarnations in the Underworld. One was gone now, but the other one remained — when Sunny dismissed Saint, he was left alone in utter darkness, suppressed and suffocated by its tenebrous expanse.

He could feel the fractured surface of the ramparts beneath him, as well as the cold wind blowing from the distant abyss. The defenders of the city had been slaughtered, and the shades were gone, having returned into the dark expanse of his soul with their commander. Only the shadow of the Prince of Darkness remained, slowly turning toward the great chasm, far away in the distance.

Nephis flashed past the towering colossus, then landed nimbly on the scorched and fractured surface of the devastated square. She slid back dozens of meters, finally coming to a halt at the very edge of a deep fissure.

By then, the Prince of Darkness was already swinging his enormous sword. The blade of the titanic greatsword, almost two hundred meters in length, was slow to accelerate — however, when it gathered momentum, its edge was heavy enough to cut the world apart.

However, before the colossal shade could deliver the blow, an invisible presence flickered in the darkness in front of it.

In the next moment, the towering figure of the Prince of Darkness was obliterated, disintegrating into a million pieces. The shadow of a Supreme Titan crumpled in the blink of an eye, vanquished without offering any resistance. Torn apart like a paper figurine.

Sunny was covered in cold sweat, gritting his teeth as terror clawed at his heart.

He was surrounded by elemental darkness, utterly devoid of power. There was no time to assume the form of the Jade Saint and channel Neph’s flames, either. He only had a few moments left to act.

So, gathering all his strength, he raised his hand, made it into a fist, and slammed it into the ground with all the strength of a Supreme.

The ground quaked.

In an instant, a terrifying amount of kinetic energy was converted into heat. The surface of the ancient stone shattered beneath his blow, melting and vaporizing in a devastating conflagration.

And therefore, there was a flash of light. This mundane light was weak and feeble, easily defeated by the endless mass of true darkness — its radiance was dim, and it had only lasted a brief moment.

But that moment was all Sunny needed to dive into the embrace of shadows cast by the fleeting explosion of light and emerge from them many kilometers away, in front of Nephis.

There, the mystical lantern left behind by Broken Sword still glowed, illuminating the ruined streets of the ancient city and summoning countless shadows into existence. Sunny arrived just in time to reach forward and catch Nephis, helping her balance herself and pulling her away from the edge of the deep fissure.

For a moment, they were face to face, pale and terrified.

That terror was not something they could control — it was simply an inevitable consequence of mortal beings finding themselves in the presence of a god... a fallen and corrupted god. That was why even Nephis, who had always shared a distant relationship with fear, could not control it now.

“Sunny...”

Her whisper was barely audible.

Unlike Sunny, Nephis was not sensitive to fate, so she had not witnessed the prisoner of the Abyss. However, she had inherited the Knowledge of Corruption, so she must have sensed it in her own way.

Sunny did not answer. There was no time for words — he knew that they only had moments left to live.

Trying to run was meaningless, as well. How could they hope to outrun a god? Speed and distance meant nothing in the face of an Unholy creature. Reality was nothing but a malleable canvas for that being, fragile and brittle. With a thought, it could bring them back.

Sunny raised a hand, feeling like he was suffocating.

He had not felt so weak and powerless — utterly helpless — in a long, long while. How could a demigod feel that way?

Sunny was standing with his back to the great chasm, while Nephis was facing it. He saw her eyes widen as he looked over his shoulder, trembling uncontrollably.

‘Faster, faster...’

He looked down, fearing catching a glimpse of what Nephis saw, reflected in the dark depths of her terrified eyes.

There was an eerie sound... the sound of stone turning to dust, of a waterfall turning to ice, of winds dying as something that had never been meant to exist moved through them.

Perhaps it was a giant, skeletal hand rising above the edge of the boundless black void. Sunny felt it then...

A clear premonition.

A damning understanding that he only had a single heartbeat left to live.

‘Faster!’

And, just then, a Memory finally manifested itself into existence in his hand, woven out of darkness.

It was a small lantern carved from black stone.

Sunny finally remembered how to breathe. Before the gaze of the Unholy horror fell on them, he turned into a shadow and pulled Nephis into the gate of the Shadow Lantern.

In the next moment, both of them disappeared.

The black lantern fell to the ground, rolled on shattered stone, and vanished without a trace.

A dead silence settled over the Underworld. Now, once again, only darkness remained, shrouding its vast and terrifying expanse.

The abyssal horror was playing with them out of boredom, and they thought it was wise to try to kill it 😂... Well they learnt a great lesson about why Anvil and Ki Song didn't go all out waging war against the dream world... One group decided it was wise to sneak into the underworld, another group thought it wise to wage an all out war in the underworld 🤣

Does it say what it was, an unholy what?
No idea how accurate these diagrams are that they see on google but if it’s somehow just an unholy beast they should be able to kill it. It def shouldn’t be this strong.
But if it’s an unholy monster, maybe they could fight it, but demon or above they’d be f#cked. Once again just looking at graphics I have no clue how accurate the power scaling really is these.

How could an unholy beast even exist? Don’t they pretty much have to be a higher class?

Unholy is nearly as bad as it can get. Unholy beings on the corruption path correlates to Divine beings on the ascension path — beings that encomposs entire realms and laws. It doesn't matter how many soul cores it has.

As good as Sunny and Nephis are, they already struggle enough dealing with Cursed abominations. And Unholy is a step past that; two ranks higher and a full-on god. It can wipe out an army of supremes any day.

Even if both sunny and nephis were at full power as supremes, they prob wouldn't be able to beat a unholy beast, due to the exponential gaps in power as you ascend rank.

Not to mention that both sunny and nephis are weakened by the true darkness and that this unholy is a nephilim or angel, meaning that it is likely stronger than the average unholy being.

It was stated that it's easier for corrupted creatures to ascend, because all the had to do was keep consuming... If there are Great and Sacred beasts, don't you also think divine beasts would also exist or do you expect all divine and unholy beings to be titans?

They can't even kill a great titan 😂, Nephis was lucky enough to kill Abjuration before it eliminated humanity, wandering Archeon was a mindless shell, the Sacred monsters in Ariel's game were nerfed, VTB and vile beat the shit out of them even with all their preparations and VTB having Sunny's slave attribute to Nephis... VTB was trying to flee by the way, it's a thief, not a warrior.
And you are saying they should kill an unholy beast or whatever class that creature is 😂

class dosn't matter here and yes their are also levels in unholy but you need to see; that is an unholy creature. wether it's a beast, a monster, a devil or even higher. the power gap between realms became more vast as they ascended higher and it's same for corrupted beings as they descended in corruption and unholy beings are the pinnacle of power, equalant to divine beings so even if it's just an unholy beast with a single soul core, it's enough to sequeze both neph and sunny like a bugs since they are two major realms below it.

Ever seen a graph that grows exponentially, if let's say power level of current supreme titan sunphis is rank 5 (supreme), and unholy being is rank 7, so if the graph in this case scales x_squared=y, then 5 squared is 25 and 7 squared is 49, approx 50, so we are talking bout something double in raw power alone, not including the Will and influence of its Will

I have some interesting questions that I would like to know the answer to

    1. If Sunny was originally an Avatar of Fate, what was he supposed to do in the end? Nine was supposed to spark a war between the Gods and Daemons, which ultimately destroyed the world. But what about Sunny?
According to the original plan, he was supposed to have a Divine Aspect and a Shadow Bloodline. Or was it the Weaver who made Sunny Fated?

    2. Who are the Divine Shadows? Are they special warriors of the Shadow God? Then it would be interesting to see the special warriors of other Gods
Or the Divine Shadows were created in case the Shadow God wanted an avatar and he inhabited them.
Sooner or later, Sunny will meet the Shadow God. And I think the advantage of the Weaver's Lineage is that Sunny will not be subordinate to the Shadow God. A Divine Shadow that is not subordinate to the Shadow God)

    3. Another good point is that the Shadow God ruled through slavery. I think this shows what kind of God he is.
    The God of Peace)))

      1. In one of the previous chapters, it was basically implicated that Sunny is the Third Paradox. The reason Sunny is [Fated] or is an Avatar of Fate is, ironically, to break fate. In fact, The Nine were Avatars of Fate not because they were supposed to spark a war, but because they needed to kill Weaver who was an enemy of fate. Everything that transpired before that was just means of an end. The gods dying were consequence of their Fate to destroy Weaver.

Technically, Sunny was always meant to be possess a Divine Aspect and the [Fated] attribute even before he was born, but Weaver intervened and planned someone like Sunny to possess his own Lineage—thus turning Sunny into the Third Paradox: a possessor of Divine Aspect, a [Fated], and the blood of a Daemon. Whatever Sunny's fate was supposed to be was overridden and turned into a fate to break Fate.

      2. I would assume that Divine Shadows are equivalent to War Maidens/War Saint of the War Goddess. They are beings borne from that God that are superior in beings and essence.

And I'm pretty sure that it's been mentioned many times that the Gods are dead. Meaning, we have no basis that Sunny will meet the Shadow God again unless there is a major plotwist.

      3. That makes sense, he is both a Divine Shadow and a slave, after all. Maybe it is the nature or culture of the Shadows to be subordinated to someone else?

        1. "Whatever Sunny's fate was supposed"
I wonder what she was like originally. That's the main question.

        2. "And I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned many times that the gods are dead. So, we have no reason to believe that the Sunny will meet the Shadow God again, unless there's a major plot twist."

In the Fifth or Sixth (most likely the Sixth), there will be Gods. Even Nephis mentioned this.

        3. The Shadow God created the Shadow Culture.
It would be cool if G3 explored the theme of slavery through the Shadow God and his character. But that's just my personal preference.

So he just pulls her into the lantern, dismisses it, and then another one of incarnations summons the lantern and they’re halfway across the dream realm. Nice way to always have an escape route.

Is the princess of darkness shade dead dead or just back in Sunny’s soul recuperating? Would suck to lose him.
Damn back to these crazy short chapters.

Hilarious that now an unholy monster is on the lose lol. One look and Sunny’s corrupted? Thats wild.
