Chapter 2798: Abandoned Throne

Rain let out a relieved sigh.

Then, she trembled.

Escape?

They were abandoning the Ivory Island. The Tower of Longing had become the symbol of the Human Domain and was synonymous with Changing Star's throne, so if it were to fall into the hands of the adversary — whomever the enemy was — wouldn't it mean that the Human Domain fell, too? Not to mention that they were high above ground, with nothing but open sky all around them. Even if Lady Cassia could summon a winged Echo, how were they supposed to escape the pursuit of the Night Garden?

"Go!"

Lady Cassia was already exiting the room. Biting her lip, Rain assigned three Epithets to the wheelchair — Stable, Light, and Levitating — and pushed it forward while assessing how much of her essence was being consumed.

It was far less than she had anticipated.

‘So the efficiency of the Epithets is affected by my Rank, as well.'

Being a Master was quite neat.

She wondered what her Ascended Ability was. Sadly, now was not the time to find out.

Rushing through the acrid smoke, they reached the main stairs of the Ivory Tower and swiftly descended to the ground floor. As they did, a few more Fire Keepers attacked them — Lady Cassia clashed with them each time, bringing them down in mere seconds.

The woman in the wheelchair remained emotionless and detached through all the mayhem.

Rain, meanwhile, had to reassess her opinion of Song of the Fallen. Lady Cassia was renowned among the Saints, of course, but not exactly for her battle prowess — more so for her insight, virtue, and diligence. She was seen as a wise advisor and assistant to the radiant Changing Star, all but indistinguishable in the brilliance of her master.

However, seeing her fight the Fire Keepers — the best of the best among the warriors of humanity — Rain had to admit that Lady Cassia was a bit... terrifying. More so because her strength had gone unnoticed for so long, despite the spotlight aimed at her at all times.

Yes, the Fire Keepers were of a lesser Rank than her. But she did not simply defeat them — she crushed them with impossible swiftness, a cold kind of grace, and flawless efficiency in her movements. More than that, she did so barehanded despite the array of powerful Memories her opponents wielded, while managing to keep them all alive.

Suddenly, Rain felt that the blind Saint was far more suited for the darkness of the Shadow Clan than for the splendor of the Fire Keepers. In fact, she was far more suited for that darkness than most of the actual members of the Shadow Clan.

They passed through the jaws of the dead dragon and escaped onto the emerald grass of the Ivory Island. From here, the Night Garden was like a dark wall that loomed above the great pagoda, blotting out the sun.

There were already winged Echoes and Awakened warriors trying to breach the gap between its deck and the shores of the flying island — a complicated runic array was keeping them at bay for now, but it was not going to last long against the devastating cannonade.

“Hurry."

Lady Cassia guided Rain around the Ivory Tower and moved across the grass toward the grove of ancient trees in the distance. Then, however, the whole island shook, and the runic array was extinguished in a flood of silver light. Rain barely kept her balance, sensing something colossal and terrifying approaching them from the sky.

Lady Cassia turned and raised her head. Her expression turned grave.

"...Nightwalker""

She hesitated for a moment, then faced Rain.

“You go forward, Rain. There will be a gazebo and a stone arch behind the grove. Invoke the True Names of Fire, Divinity, and Stepping Across Thresholds when you get there, then channel them into the stone. I'll join you shortly."

Rain hesitated, looking at her with worry. "But..."

But Lady Cassia was already turning away, outstretching a hand to summon a Memory. "Go. There is no time to waste.’

Gritting her teeth, Rain turned her back to her and pushed the wheelchair forward. The island quaked and quaked as they rushed toward the grove. Then, the ground beneath her feet seemed to ripple, and a flash of silver light drowned everything around.

A deafening thunderclap slammed into her back, sending Rain to the ground.

‘Damn it...’

Rising, she grabbed the handles of the levitating wheelchair once more and hurried toward the stone arch Lady Cassia had told her about.

There, Rain stopped and invoked the True Names.

The True Name of Fire was simple enough to channel. So was the Name of Stepping Across Thresholds. Divinity, however... That was one of the first Names Nephis had taught her, since it was the foundation of countless other Names. It was also the opposite of the Void, and therefore of Corruption. However, although all Shapers had to know it, they almost never invoked it. Rather, they were incapable of invoking it, since mortals were not meant to command Divinity.

Nephis could channel it because of the Flame of Divinity burning in her soul, as well as because of her Divine Lineage.

Rain, however, possessed neither. So, she had never even attempted to do the same. She had no other choice now, though.

The weight of the primordial Name was almost crushing. To Rain's surprise, however, she was not torn apart by it — instead, her Mark of Shadows seemed to respond to the Name of Divinity, and assisted her in channelling its radiant melody.

As Rain swayed from the burden of invoking three Names, the ivory arch seemed to grow a little hazy.

Then, the emptiness within it was suddenly replaced by a cool darkness.

It was a startling sight. Behind the arch was the blue sky, but inside it was a dark hall illuminated only by the ghostly light of an enchanted lantern.

‘What... now?"

Before Rain could finish the thought, someone suddenly landed on the ground near her. Then, a delicate hand pushed her into the darkness.

Rain stumbled forward, passed through the portal, and rolled on the stone floor. Turning around, she saw Lady Cassia — her bloodied garments disheveled and torn, their hems singed — pushing the wheelchair from the grass of the Ivory Island onto the obsidian floor of the dark hall.

As soon as they passed through the portal, it was extinguished. All that was left was an ebony arch that seemed to grow from the floor.

Lady Cassia exhaled heavily and fell to her knees.

In the silence that followed, Rain suddenly heard the sound of unhurried footsteps approaching them from the darkness. Looking up, she saw eyes that were like two pools of mercury looking down at her.

Her reflection in them looked small, weak, and frightened.

“Well, well, well. Look what the cat dragged in!"

A tall man with strange mirror-like eyes was looking down at her, smiling faintly.

Then, he turned to Lady Cassia, his smile turning a little sinister.

“Ah, if it isn't my favorite witch. Welcome to my Domain, Lady Cassia. I must say, being covered in blood suits you really well..."

Cassie was dazed by the chaotic current of memories
she was absorbing. In one memory, Rain was
preparing to embark on a journey to Ascension - in
the next, she was trying to escape the Ivory Island as
it was being besieged by the thralls of the Hunger
    Domain.

Sunny and Nephis were absent, gone to fight some
unknown battle. The Fire Keepers - those most loyal
to Changing Star among all of mankind - had fallen to
the plague of Asterion, proving that the Longing
    Domain was all but extinguished.

It did not make any sense. Why had they allowed
things to become so dire? Even if the Dreamspawn
held humanity hostage, there should have been a
point where the price of inaction had grown heavier
than the cost of engaging him in a direct battle. And
yet, he had been allowed to continue spreading his
appalling influence until even the Tower of Longing
    was lost.

The answers lay in Rain's memories, but those
memories were gone, erased by Cassie herself. So, she
had to abandon that direction and focus on a new
    one.

In the beginning, when she had yet to remember who
she was, her actions were nothing but instinct. But
now that Cassie had collected more pieces of herself,
solving her own being like a puzzle, she gained more
control over her Will. So, the speed at which she
absorbed the memories vastly accelerated, and she
could discern their nature more easily.

The tendrils of her Will shot through the ocean of
memories, catching dozens of small shards that
glistened weakly in the darkness. She was searching
only for the memories of what had happened after the
council of the champions of the Human Domain and
the siege of the Ivory Tower.

The memories of the plague ...

The smaller shards flashed through her mind,
becoming a part of her instantly.

In one scene, Chief Bethany was spending a peaceful
evening with Quentin, her romantic partner and a
hidden blade of the Shadow Clan.

    His expression was somber.

"Have you heard about what happened in the Glass
Hell, Beth? The rumors are most likely exaggerated,
but even if some of it is true ... damn it. These days, it
really feels like the world has gone crazy."

Beth, who was sitting on the sofa and reading a book,
her feet resting on his lap, looked at him with a wry
    smile.

"These days? The world has never not been crazy,
    don't you think?"

She turned a page and shrugged.

"The Glass Hell ... the Glass Hell. I've heard about it. I
wonder how much solar energy can be collected from
that glass plain. Nobody is insane enough to build a
solar farm in Godgrave, but the Glass Hell? That can
    be done, I think ... "

Quentin looked at her in confusion and frowned.

"Hey, I know how you love to lose yourself in
academic ponderings. But this is a little inappropriate,
don't you think? So many people have already died,
and if the rumors are true, many more will die soon.
    Aren't you concerned?"

Beth looked at him and sighed.

Leaning forward to pat his shoulder, she said in a
    reassuring tone:

"Don't worry. It will all be resolved soon - there's no
    reason to be concerned, really."

    He raised an eyebrow.

"There isn't? Why do you think that?"

Beth looked at him and smiled.

    Her tone was chipper.

"Because of Lord Asterion, of course. Hasn't he
promised to help? I am sure he'll sort things out."

    Quentin froze.

His expression did not betray any emotions, but his
    eyes quaked a little.

"W-what ... what did you say?"

Beth blinked a couple of times.

"I said that Lord Asterion will deal with it. I mean, he's
a Supreme, right? And he's much older and more
experienced than the other two. So, he'll help."

Quentin remained silent for a while, frowning. Then,
he asked in a neutral tone:

"Didn't you get into a fight with Russel just a week ago
because he was going around advocating for that
man? You even put him on probation for disrupting
    morale."

    Beth tilted her head, surprised.

Something strange glistened in her eyes, as if a golden
    spark ignited in their depths.

    Then, she laughed.

"Oh, did I really? Well, I must have been in a mood. I'll
have to apologize to Russel ... "

In another memory, Seishan was looking at
Ravenheart from the slopes of a tall mountain,
accompanied by two of her sisters.

Lonesome Howl was saying in a low tone:

" ... They even smell different. It is difficult to notice,
but once you know the scent, you can't mistake it for
anything. There were a few at first, then many. Now,
the entire city reeks of hunger - I don't even know
how many people are still free of the plague.
Nightingale is worried about the wrong things."

Moonveil, who was standing nearby, raised an
    eyebrow.

"What are you trying to say?"

Lonesome Howl gave her a somber look.

"I am saying that while we are all running around
panicked because of Mordret, what we should really
be worrying about is being stabbed in the back."

    Seishan exhaled slowly.

"I agree with Howl. I felt it, too ... the blood flows
differently now. Things are far worse than we
anticipated. I don't know what Nephis is thinking, not
    burning the infection away."

    Moonveil shrugged.

"She probably doesn't want to massacre half of the
human population. Plus ... is there really a need to
    dispose of the infected?"

Both Seishan and Lonesome Howl gave her odd looks.

    "What do you mean?"

    Moonveil smiled faintly.

"The subjects of the Hunger Domain have not done
anything remotely harmful yet. It doesn't seem like
they are going to turn against humanity, either - the
only thing they are guilty of is diminishing the power
of Changing Star's Domain. Is that really a crime
worthy of being punished by death?"

    Seishan frowned deeply.

"You were the first one to affirm your loyalty to
Nephis. Why are you changing your tune now, all of a
    sudden?"

Moonveil met her gaze and tilted her head a little.

"The Dreamspawn has not shown any hostility toward
us, has he? Perhaps we were too hasty in dismissing
    him as an enemy.

    Lonesome Howl scoffed.

"You must have lost your mind. Have you forgotten
that his real goal is to devour us all?"

Moonveil stared at her silently for a while.

Then, she frowned and brought her hand to her
    forehead in confusion.

"Right. How could ... how did I forget?"

Her face was deathly pale all of a sudden, and she
looked at her sisters with wide eyes.

    "I ... I can't be ... I am still myself, right?"

Seishan and Lonesome Howl studied her with alarmed
    expressions.

They were worried about their sister ...

But, at the same time, an even deeper anxiety was
    taking hold of them.

How would they themselves know that they were still
    who they used to be?

2800 The Sound of an Opening
    Door

In a different memory, Effie was staring at the fire
dancing in her fireplace with a distant expression. Her
usual cheerfulness was gone, and instead, a sense of
doubt and unease had taken root in her hazel eyes.

Soon, there was the sound of an opening door, and
she looked toward the entrance. She sighed heavily,
and then forced herself to smile.

A few seconds later, her husband walked into the
room and looked at her in surprise.

"Oh? You're home early today. I thought we'd be
barely seeing you in these next few weeks."

    Effie scoffed.

    "Don't sound so disappointed."

Her husband laughed and walked over to hug her.

"Never. I'm beyond happy that you're here. Ling will be
beyond himself, too, once he gets back from his
lessons ... oh, are you hungry? I can cook something
    up if you are."

    Effie smiled.

"You know me. I am never not hungry."

As he went to prepare dinner for them, the smile
faded on her face, and she studied his back with a
    complicated expression.

As they ate and chatted, Effie kept glancing at her
    husband when he looked away.

    Eventually, she asked:

"By the way ... did you hire a new tutor for our
    dumpling?"

Her husband took a sip of tea and nodded.

    "Yes, a history teacher. Why?"

    Effie hesitated.

"Why does he need a new teacher? What's wrong with
    Julius?"

    He laughed.

"Why, nothing is wrong with Teacher Julius, of course!
It's just that our son is quite energetic, and Teacher
Julius is not a young man. Plus, he can't be a specialist
    in everything."

Effie remained silent for a while, then frowned.

"Still. Who is that new tutor? What are his
credentials? Was his background checked? Most
importantly, why would you just go and hire him
without discussing it with me first?"

    Her husband seemed taken aback.

"What? You were just busy, that's all."

    Effie's frown deepened.

"I am never busy when it comes to our son. You know
    that."

It might have been a simple case of
miscommunication. Her husband might have just
made an impulsive decision, thinking about what was
    best for Little Ling.

    Or ...

It might have been something else.

    Could it have been?

Effie had been tense and alarmed as of late. She was
especially anxious because the Dreamspawn had
already expressed his interest in her son. So, she was
sensitive to everything that had to do with Little Ling.

She wouldn't have even known that Ling had a new
tutor if Sunny had not told her. Her husband would
have never made a decision as important as choosing
a teacher for their son without her - especially not
when the plague of Asterion was spreading across the
    two worlds like a wildfire.

He knew how perilous things were at the moment.

That was not alright at all.

    That was ...

    'Suspicious?'

But no, maybe ... maybe she was just being paranoid.
Maybe she was wrong, and there was a perfectly
reasonable explanation for all of this.

Her husband looked at her silently.

    Eventually, he said:

    "That is not true."

    Effie was confused.

    "What?"

    He sighed.

"It's not true that you're never busy when it comes to
our son. In fact, you are quite busy too often for him ...
or for me. I get it, I do. You are an important person.
Your duties often keep you away from home, and
sometimes, you have to leave for entire weeks to fight
for humanity on the frontline. I am not blaming you
    for that."

    He shook her head.

"But it's unfair to say that you always have time for us."
    Effie stared at him, aghast.

    Effie stared at him, aghast.

A sharp sense of guilt cut across her heart.

But, at the same time ...

She couldn't help but notice that he had avoided
answering any of her questions. Was it a coincidence,
    or a tactic?

    Could she ...

Could she still trust her husband?

    That question was maddening.

The appalling ambivalence of it all cut her like a dull
blade. She wasn't sure that he was being dishonest,
but she also couldn't be sure that he was entirely
sincere. She wanted to demand answers, but was
afraid of finding out the truth. More than anything,
she was afraid of accusing him of betrayal only to find
out that it was all a misunderstanding.

'I hate it. I hate it all.'

    Effie lost her appetite.

Pushing the plate away, she looked at her husband
    and said:

"I want you to tell me something."

    He raised an eyebrow.

    "What?"

Effie stared at him for a while, then said:

"Tell me that the Dreamspawn is a vile scumbag, that
he only has malice in his heart, and that Nephis is
going to seal that wicked ghoul for all eternity sooner
    or later."

Her husband looked at her with a faint smile.

The silence stretched between them, making a cold
    shiver run down Effie's spine.

    Eventually, though, he chuckled.

"Is that all you want? Sure. The Dreamspawn is a vile
scumbag, has only malice in his heart, and is going to
be sealed for all eternity by Lady Nephis soon."

Effie let out a relieved sigh.

    But then, she hesitated.

'Why ... is he not angry with me? Shouldn't he be angry
    for being suspected?'

She looked at her husband, still unsure.

He chuckled, shook his head, and focused on his food.

'Maybe I was wrong, after all.'As the fire burning in the fireplace reflected in his
eyes, a golden gleam seemed to spark in their depths
    for a brief moment.

... And then, a scattering of other memories flashing
like abominable snapshots of a dying world.

Effie was sprawled on cold stones, iron chains binding
her bloodied limbs. Only there was no trace of the
hale, vivacious woman she had been anymore -
instead, she was like a corspe, so gaunt that it seemed
that a gust of wing would break her in half.

Her arms had become skeletal and weak. Her ribs rose
like ridges, hugged tightly by the lifeless skin. Her
stomach was so thin that it seemed to cling to her
spine. Her gaunt face was sunken and bruised, with
feverish eyes burning on it darkly. Her legs were like
long sticks, bent awkwardly. It did not seem like she
    could move them anymore.

Her body was a ghastly image of a beast that was
slowly consuming itself, having already digested most
    of its own flesh.

Then, there was the sound of an opening door, and
she turned her head listlessly to look at the bars of her
    cage.

A delicious aroma wafted through the stale air.

Her husband appeared at the entrance of the
dungeon, stepping carefully over the runes carved
into its floor. He was carrying a tray brimming with all
    kinds of delicious food.

He placed the tray in front of the cage and smiled.

    "I brought your favorite."

Effie simply stared at him, not saying anything. He
hesitated for a while, then sighed.

"I simply don't understand why you're persisting in
this foolishness, my love. All you have to do is tell me
    where our son is."

He studied the ghastly wreckage of her body, his
    expression turning somber.

"You don't even have to say it! Just think it. Please,
Effie ... tell me where our son is. Let's end this. Where
    is Little Ling?"

Effie remained silent for a while ...

    Then smiled slowly.

Her hoarse voice was like a dying echo.

"Oh, yeah? Is the ghoul ... reading my thoughts, then?"

Turning away from her husband, she looked at the
ceiling and suddenly let out a laugh.

    "What am I thinking
    no about now?"

Her husband's expression changed. He lingered for a
    moment, then frowned in confusion.

" ... Food? You're only thinking about food?"

    Effie's grating laughter grew louder.

"Ah, what to do? The food! All I can think about is
food! How unfortunate for that bastard, huh?"

Her laughter turned into coughs, and then into sobs.

    "The food ... ah, I'm hungry ... "

Somewhere else, Quentin and Beth were holding
hands, smiling, as they looked at the sky. In the sky,
the Ivory Island was being besieged by the Night
Garden, minutes away from falling into the hands of
the thralls of the Hunger Domain.

"Look, Beth! The Saints of Night are going into battle!"

    Beth smiled joyfully.

"Yeah. That silver light ... how pretty."

And somewhere else, in Ravenheart ...

Seishan found herself having to spill the blood of her
    sisters.

But before too long, she was of one mind with them
    again.

Thank you for the chapters. Madness, these chapters are pure madness. I was thinking, what if Cassie becomes a purely mental being, or perhaps her Will becomes strange? Sunny's is malleable like him, Nephi's isn't, but it's as expected. Will Cassie's Will become like a bunch of tentacles?

    Quote: Malfunction
It was explained thoroughly in some chapter that sunny was important enough to cause fate to collapse and weak enough to have his fate stolen. If he was any less important fate would heal itself from his absence and if he was stronger he couldn't have had his fate stolen

    Quote: Seasick_sign
No, it was because his fate was stolen the moment he ascended. The Vile Thieving Bird is plenty able to steal Asterion's fate.

How? The VTB that stole Sunny's fate wasn't even a hatchling it was an egg. What rank would you guess the VTB that stole a full fledged deamon's eye of fate would be? The shade he got from that egg was stolen from within his own seasoul without him even realizing when and how mother VTB stole it.
    7
You people make baseless accusations and theories like sunny killing VTB, getting his fate back and using VTB shade to steal Asterion's fate with out any sense and logic whatsoever. If Sunny had a VTB to steal anything for him he could just have it steal the nightmare spell from dreams god sleep, the end of story. Butter how does he kill a VTB that's that powerful?
    7
It's like Amon, It doesn't even need to fight anyone it can steal anything from anyone, it can steal sunnys aspect and use it against him leaving him without an aspect to fight back with. His battle style? It can steal that too. His shadow? Stolen, his hands? Stolen. His social security numbers? Stolen. Credit cards? All stolen. His identity and life stolen. Everything stolen, leaving him naked on a deserted road trying to hitchike a ride home with nothing to fight back with. He wasn't even left with a mobile phone to call 911. So how? Tell me how?
    Quote: Malfunction
It was explained thoroughly in some chapter that sunny was important enough to cause fate to collapse and weak enough to have his fate stolen. If he was any less important fate would heal itself from his absence and if he was stronger he couldn't have had his fate stolen

    Keep repeating the baseless theory

So what's the basis of yours? Tell us, we're dying to find out. Let me guess, is it VTB can steal sunnys fate so it can be used to steal Aster's fate too? Yep sounds totally reasonable...if you're name is Ammon or Cuttlefish

A giant creature had been hiding in the darkness of the vast cavern, hidden completely from his sight, his nose, and even his shadow sense, despite being the size of a hill. It had a hunched back, a disheveled mantle of messy black feathers, a terrifying beak, and mighty wings that were vast even when folded, hiding its gaunt body. And a vile soul filled with more Corruption than he had ever seen, spreading outward from six grotesquely giant nodes
This is the description given before the theft of Sunny's destiny.
Fate… the Thieving Bird stole my fate…'

But what did it mean, to have his fate stolen? In simple terms, it meant that the loathsome miscreant had taken all the countless strings of fate that bound Sunny, and tore them away. Leaving Sunny entirely free of their shackles. However… those shackles…

Were also what made Sunny the person he was, and what connected him to all other living beings, as well as to the world itself. He suddenly remembered a thought that had visited him once, in the depths of a Nightmare...

As one went through life, they collected strings and tethers that connected them to others. Everyone's fates were intertwined, and everyone was tied down and bound by those numerous connections, some of them fleeting, some deep and precious. Sunny, too, was tethered to the world that way.

...Or rather, he had been. By proclaiming that he wanted to break fate… that he wished to be free of its chains…

Had he not proclaimed his desire to set himself free from these tethers, as well?
      As stated by Sunny himself

OMG!!!! it's a figure of speech! It's an egg is Chinese version of an idiot. Why'd you have to pull up the holy scriptures to discredit me bro. I thought we'd be on the same page about this. Don't tell me you also support this theory that Sunny can use VTB to steal Asterion's fate???

Never, I think that's pure idiocy. I would say that perhaps he could create a supreme (or greater) memory with a time worm (with the VTB's body) that would allow him to disobey the orders of the dark bond (Weave created memories that reverse the Fault, there must be a way to disobey). Honestly, there's no reason for Asterion to have his Destiny stolen; he's a great motivator for Cassie to achieve supremacy.

I resorted to texts because many others seem to read with their butts.

Aw c'mon, I know you pulled up the holy scripture to verify what I said about the egg part so I know it planted a seed of doubt in your mind that you had to double check it yourself right?

Actually no, because I finished reading it again the day before yesterday and my memory is bad, but not that bad. Regarding the part about the egg in your comment, initially I didn't read it properly and thought you were being literal, then I read it again and saw that you weren't. But I thought others might take it seriously, I mean, look at the theories these guys have, it's almost funny. Regarding Sunny's fate, I had written a similar description some time ago, addressing other points, and I thought it would be relevant based on the comments you mentioned.

Not only is that stupid to assume ANYBODY would be on the same page with that analogy.. is that even true?

And nah you clearly misremebered that the vtb is the original rank and class it was when it stole a damons eye..

The whole point of the vtb was that it was a lesser rank thank the gods and daemons yet was still a nuisance

My guess is that Sunny and Nephis are in the tomb of Ariel, trying to get Sunny’s fate back so they can use the vile thieving bird’s ability to pluck Asterion from the weave of fate.

HOW MANY TIMES CAN I REPEAT THIS? It will not be possible to snatch Aster's fate because he is already too strong for that. The whole point and the paradox with Sonny was that his destiny was stolen when he was weak enough to do it.

No, it was because his fate was stolen the moment he ascended. The Vile Thieving Bird is plenty able to steal Asterion's fate.

Where are the strings of fate wrapped?
I was re-reading and don’t understand this, are they wrapped around earth?

    Chapter: 2722
The man glanced at her with a friendly smile. “You can't even imagine. You can't even fathom it, young lady. The moon might be a stunning place, but looking down at your planet from up high... ah, all I could think about was how important it had turned out to have a damn string tied around your wrist..."

It could mean two things. 1, Asterion literally meant the tube that wraps around the spacesuit, 2. The Thread of fate. It doesn't really matter how it is wrapped, Fate is in a Tapestry so we can assume everything inside is bound to the tapestry.

He meant the string of Ariadne. To come back from labyrinth - in his case from moon.
And the strings of fate are everywhere - they not only wrap around things but also go thru them - we see that with the string of Night Garden. They are on different plane of existence.

He wasn't talking about fate, as the chapter was talking about the myth of Ariadne. He was regretting not having a string to guide him through the maze, or in his case, not having a way to get back to earth

Aster wasn't talking about fate, he was talking about a path of exit. The character he was talking about entered the labyrinth with a string tied to her wrist. That sting was used to go back to the entry point so she wouldn't get lost inside

Suddenly, Rain felt that the blind Saint was far more suited for the darkness of the Shadow Clan than for the splendor of the Fire Keepers. In fact, she was far more suited for that darkness than most of the actual members of the Shadow Clan.

Hehe... and I thought I was the only one who got turned on by the idea of a blind seer serving as the priestess of the shadow sovereign.

Also what the frick is going on is Cassie cooking again?

Also I just caught up... f#ck.

I actually thought Cassie was Sunny's first Saint under shadow clan about a few 100 chapters prior. I thought sunny gave her shadow mark to save her when ki Song poisoned her blood. She's also been working with sunny in the shadows a lot since then plus her secret crush on sunny she ships towards her best friend nephy

So sunny and nephis are either toa, or the underworld. smile of heavens soul is in a 5th nm seed. so they would have to go to the tomb of ariel, find the vtb and beat it, then skip the river of time natural apotheosis method, trek all the way to i think it was north America find the 5th nm smile of heavens soul is in beat it and then come back. or travel to the underworld in search of the last weave in hopes that when they all combine they can win against asterion. both of these seem iffy maybe their's a third option via soul serpent's transformation ability?

I understood now don't underestimate g3 writing... bro f*cking escalated the level of peak...

So, as I guessed rain was consumed by asterion domain as well as fire keepers, also night garden and if nightwalker is in his control that means naeve, bloodwave, aether too possibly jet too but i don't think so she would be able resist it, also i think the night garden ship creature is also in his control, as per my guesses when nephis and cassie were escorting mordet they made a deal with him that he would help them as a last resort to fight against asterion when his powers escalated...

Wake of ruin was too converted into enthrall possibly many others too, and if rain was enthralled then chances are other awakend of shadow clan are too enthrall they might have attacked forgotten shore, ravenheart, bastion and many other places so sunny's other incarnation are dealing with those places and he and nephis is fighting against asterion not in bastion but other place
