Chapter 2730: Deal with a Demon

Noctis gazed at the Demon of Fate, his grin shining with a hidden abyss of barely contained madness.

His voice, once cheerful and pleasant, turned hoarse and low now.

“I wanted to ask your help with slaughtering all the Chain Lords, breaking the shackles Sun God had forged, and unleashing Hope upon the world. I wanted to ask your help with plunging this abominable land into the darkness burning below it, even if it brings all other lands to ruin. I wanted to ask you to help me break the will of the gods... I had to be satisfied with only this little, since the gods themselves cannot be broken."

Noctis laughed.

"In short, I wanted to ask you to help me die."

He looked at the diamond sickle that lay on the stone before him, smeared in blood. His grin dimmed slowly, replaced by exhaustion.

“Well, something like that, anyway. Ah... I am tired, Weaver. I am tired of guarding Hope, from being driven mad by Hope, and from not knowing what my duty is. It was all so clear all those years ago, when the Lord of Light entrusted us with this task. But I've been having doubts."

Noctis sighed and looked at her with a pale smile.

"If he truly wanted us to keep Hope shackled... why did he give us the keys to open her chains?"

His head dropped, and a whisper escaped from his twisted lips:

“Perhaps what he really wanted was for us to release her, all along. What marvelous cruelty that would have been... don't you think, Weaver?"

She studied the tired man in front of her for a while.

“Even I do not presume to know the mind of the gods. Mercy, cruelty, love, indifference... the gods are too vast and too great to contain only one emotion, bear only one desire, and harbor only one intent."

She smiled coldly in the darkness.

“Ah, but I can tell you this, Beast of Twilight. You truly are far too arrogant for a mortal man. Did you really think that seven Transcendent men can contain a daemon? Did you really think that seven human lives are enough to bind the Demon of Desire? Fool... it was your endless desire to keep her bound that had built the walls of her prison and became her chains, not your unending lives."

She leaned forward slightly, studying his pale visage with a hint of a strange, unexplainable emotion.

"But now you desire for me to help you bring those walls down? You offer me your worthless heart and beg me to help you defy the gods? Do you even know what you are asking of me, Beast of Twilight?"

Noctis looked at her with a somber expression.

He remained silent for a while, frowned, then grumbled in a hurt tone:

“Hey. Countless women and more than a few men have fathomed the depths of despair while trying fruitlessly to pursue my heart, you know? It might not have struck your fancy, Weaver, but how can you call it worthless? My heart is quite lovely, if I do say so myself... in fact, I dare say it's the loveliest heart in all of..."

She let out a chilling laugh, making him fall silent.

“In all of Kingdom of Hope? You only see what your burden allows you to see, Beast of Twilight. This land, these chains, and the quiet despair of those who naively surrendered their deaths. You only think about what the liberation of Hope will mean to you, and only fear the desires that consume mortal men. But my burden is far greater, and therefore, I see far more. I see it all”

Noctis smiled crookedly.

“And what do you see, Weaver?"

She smiled ominously, obscured by darkness.

"I see a beginning. A beginning of the end..." The end was inevitable, though. So, her actions did not matter too much, in the end... at best, she would hasten the inevitable instead of becoming the cause of it.

..That was what she told Noctis, at least. “Will you help me, Weaver? I've spent so many years searching for the keys — the Ivory Knife, the Obsidian Knife. But they always elude me. So, I am willing to pay any price. You... are my only hope now, Weaver." Noctis studied the terrifying darkness, then smiled with mischief.

“Oh, but then again, you have already given me an answer, haven't you? After all, the great Demon of Fate would have known my request all along. Therefore, you would not have answered my call only to refuse me." She studied him, as well.

‘That swindler...’

Her voice was mocking and cold:

“What can you give me if you're intending to die? Do not think me a fool, Beast of Twilight. Do not hope that death will let you escape a debt owed to the Demon of Fate." She pointed at him with a clawed finger. “Yes, I shall help you break the chains of Hope. Yes, I shall help you defy the will of the gods. But the price I demand is your life, not your death. Even if you long for the mercy of death, I will curse you to live. I will curse you to live, to hope... and to serve me. You and the one in the north both."

Noctis shivered.

"Well... now, wait a minute..."

But she did not wait.

A fearsome black mask covered her face once again as the clouds receded, washing the world in the silver light of the full moon. Letting out a sigh, she looked up, into the harrowing eternity of fate shining above them.

The Crimson Beast of Twilight was an eerie existence. He was a man whose fate had been plucked from the great tapestry by a god and twisted in on itself, becoming a seamless loop.

So, she reached into the endless infinity of radiant strings and grasped one of them tightly, making all of existence shudder. "W-wait... what are you..."

Baring her teeth, she pulled the String of Fate down, feeling it bite into her fingers. As drops of golden ichor fell to the ground, she bore the weight of eternity. She moved infinity with nothing but the strength of her arm and the force of her Will, changing the shape of existence forever.

The ethereal thread she had pulled down entered Noctis, piercing his chest — where a new heart was already beating weakly, now imbued with a new fate.

She did not break the will of Sun God. Instead, she simply made it so that what Sun God willed did not matter anymore.

Only the will of the Demon of Fate mattered.

“B—by the moon..."

She laughed.

“Beast of Twilight, do not call upon the moon. That is not your name anymore, and you do not belong to the gods anymore. You belong to me now... now, you shall only call the name of Weaver."

From chapter 650: CONVO BW SUNNY AND NOCTIS
    Noctis laughed brightly, then nodded.
"Oh, indeed! Maybe you are right. Gods can be very cruel, sometimes. After all, they are much more ancient and vast than kindness and compassion. Or, maybe, it is not really our lives that keep the Demon bound, but instead our will and desire to keep her imprisoned. Or maybe it is a test of our conviction… that is what the Sun Lord believes, at least. Or maybe… maybe he actually hoped that we would free her. Who knows?"

IT IS SUNNY NOT WEAVER! this is not some divine truth that sunny(weaver) says he is just repeating what Noctis told him in the 2nd nightmare all that time ago. pepeg_33
    From Chapter 631:
Noctis studied the tenebrous demon in front of him, his smile growing wider.
"Ah, what a fortuitous encounter. A shadow! Did fate guide you to me, I wonder…"

    From chapter 632:
Sunny stared at him in confusion, Noctis relaxed and started to hum a joyful melody.
"Ah, Sunless! How fortunate it is that I've met you."
"...Before we met, you see, I was prepared to do something… rather drastic. But now, there is no need. The divination truly worked."

The sorcerer looked away with a distant expression.
"Even gods are afraid of fate, Sunless. So… I was going to make a deal with a certain creature. A harrowing, evil, and insidious monster. The vile Demon known as Weaver, who holds domain over fate. These knives can kill us because they hold the strings of our fates… so, if anyone can find a way to end our lives without the knives, it would be Weaver."
Sunny: 'So… Noctis wanted to make a deal with Weaver to free Hope… and then, I suddenly appeared?'
A cold shiver suddenly ran down his spine.
    'What, exactly, does that mean?'
    aaaahhh G3 is goated! troll18
    And look at this:
    CH 646:
the sorcerer couldn't help but throw glances at him, mumbling some nonsense in a barely audible voice:
"...wonderful… marvelous! My complexion is, without a doubt, the fairest there is in the Kingdom of Hope, but alas, black doesn't suit me at all. I won't be caught dead wearing black. Or alive, really. But this is just perfect! Finally, someone to do justice to this Night Silk I bought! It must be fate, indeed, no doubt about it…"

    CH 650:
"But… the Demon of Fate would have asked a terrible price of me, I'm sure. So, it is very fortunate that you came along! Just imagine… that fiend would have made me into something ugly, or even worse, poorly dressed. The horror!"

    CH 1342:
Memory: Ananke's Mantle. Memory Rank: Transcendent.
    Memory Tier: I.
    Memory Type: Garment.
Eventually, he grimaced and concentrated on the enchantments. The runes read: Memory Enchantments: [Enduring], [Concealing], [Tasteless].
[Tasteless], though… was a rather strange enchantment, if it could even be called that. From what Sunny could see, it didn't do anything. It was just there, containing nothing except for its name and description. The description read:
[Tasteless] Enchantment Description: "Why did it have to be black?".
    'Huh...'
Which was rather perplexing. The people wearing the mantle would not have been able to read the description unless they were sorcerers themselves, which most of the priests of the Nightmare Spell had not been. So, the mysterious creator of the enchanted garment seemed to have left that odd message for no one in particular.
Sunny shook his head. 'That person must have been a bit of a lunatic… also, what are they talking about? Everything looks better in black!'

LOL! troll77 Sunny even remembered Noctis's aversion to black and specifically made his priests to wear black just to troll him troll78

      Extra:
      CH 630:
Soon, Sunny saw a strange picture.
In the center of the valley, a small fire burned, its color entirely white. In front of it, a lone human figure sat. The human's head was hung low, his face obscured by the falling hair. He was naked above the waist, his pale skin covered with dry blood. However, there seemed to be no wounds on the stranger's body… in fact, there was not a single scar on it.
On a stone in front of him, a diamond sickle lay, its blade painted crimson.

      CH 2728:
She wore the nebulous mantle and the black wooden mask again.
She was walking through the shadows, approaching a lone glimmer of light. But there, some distance away... A shimmering white light danced in the darkness, in the center of a small valley that was formed by several hills. A lone human figure sat in front of a small fire there. His head hung low, and his face was obscured by the falling hair. He was naked above the waist, his pale skin covered with dry blood. However, there seemed to be no wounds on the stranger's body... in fact, there was not a single scar on it.
On a stone in front of him, a diamond sickle lay, its blade painted crimson.

G3 would have almost copy pasted those words. Sunny met Noctis at the exact time and place twice once in his 2nd nightmare timeline and again disguised as Weaver in the original timeline.
      my theory is this:
When creating the nightmare spell sunny wanted helpers to spread it among the people in its initial infant stages. Maybe they had to exist outside the tapestry of fate and he already knew a few such people- the immortal saints whose fate was isolated from the tapestry of fate by sun! so sunny went and recruited these people by giving them new fates to become the priests of the spell. thats why their knives were not broken in the original timeline even after all of hope's shackles were broken.

I also have a fan theory about the mordant mimic's memory description mystery:
        CH 647:
        'What… the hell?'
Those words Noctis had just said… weren't they mentioned in the description of the Covetous Coffer? Yes, they were! So Sunny was, and had always been, the pale friend mentioned in it?
        'Huh?!'
How could the Spell have known that this exact scene would play out, all that time ago? Back then, Sunny had not even known about the existence of the Nightmare Seed in the Ivory Tower, let alone harbored any thoughts of entering it.

Maybe after making Noctis the priest of the spell, Sunny removed his disguise and revealed his true identity to Noctis. and they had a convo... while Noctis introduced mordant mimic to Sunny again and said the exact same thing to sunny only this time in the real world and not in the nightmare. Sunny was always considered a pale skinned person so this actually happened in the past and thats how the spell gave that description to the mimic memory even before that convo happened in the nightmare. ha ha this would be fun to find out if its true cheerful

      My fan theory no. 4:
Sunny uses his Shadow dance level 7 mastery to completely impersonate other people. Thats how he manages to masquerade as Weaver, a divine being. While even the Daemon's own siblings cannot spot the difference. Finally, sunny shadowed a divine being! troll32 sunny the goated! troll33
      From Ch 1946 Divine Shadow:
Overwhelmed by these thoughts, Sunny made a tentative guess about what the final form of Shadow Dance was meant to be. It was the ability to become a true shadow of a being — all of them, including their mystical powers and authorities — not just their shape.
