Chapter 2729: Source Element

She studied the smiling man silently, drops of crimson blood falling into the fire from the human heart he held. The fire danced as it licked his hand, scorching it — his silky skin, once smooth and pristine, was swelling with blisters and breaking now, revealing the sizzling flesh beneath.

His bright smile never wavered.

A vast and hungry madness was hidden in the depths of his glistening grey eyes.

She sighed deeply and looked at the dark sky.

"...We have never met before."

With that, a slender arm revealed itself from the nebulous folds of her mantle. Receiving the bleeding heart between two claws, she studied it for a moment, then casually discarded it by throwing it into the fire. Noctis let out a short laugh.

His gaze slowly travelled away from Weaver's fearsome mask, becoming lost in the dancing flame. After a few moments passed in silence, he spoke in an easy tone:

“Hope has been imprisoned for a thousand years. And humans have enjoyed a golden age for a thousand years. One cannot help but wonder if there is a connection between the two... prosperity and hopelessness, what a pair."

Noctis looked at her again, the smile draining from his stunning face.

"They say that we are prospering, but when I journeyed beyond the borders of the Kingdom of Hope, all I saw was strife and desolation. By the moon! I could not tell who was crazier, those funny people dwelling in the distant realms or me."

He shook his head and sighed.

“It really made me wonder... what had Sun God been thinking when he called upon us to become immortal guardians of Hope."

His gaze turned cold and dark.

“Say, Weaver... I won't ask you why the Lord of Light imprisoned Hope. But tell me the truth — why, why didn't he simply kill her? Why create this long and tiresome charade?"

She looked down at him for a while, then laughed in a thousand chilling voices.

"You must really be mad. Are you really pleading for truth from the master of lies?" Sitting by the fire across from the stunning man, she cast a thoughtful gaze at the dark sky. A cold wind rose, and the pale visage of the moon was obscured by clouds; then, the contours of her mask turned blurry, and it disappeared, revealing...

Nothing.

There was nothing but darkness hiding beneath the fearsome mask.

Noctis seemed to forget how to breathe, looking into the darkness with trembling eyes.

A raspy voice resounded in the silence, making the flames die.

"Have you heard? My brother, the Prince of the Underworld, has broken one of the divine tenets. He has encroached on the purview of the gods and created a race of living beings to settle his lightless lands. No one but the gods had been able to create life before, but now, the Demon of Destiny created life as well... we daemons are inclined to perform impossible feats, are we not?"

Noctis frowned.

"Why are you telling me this, Weaver? How does that answer my question?"

She laughed.

“Because I am known to appreciate deceit, and this is a brilliant lie”

Noctis studied her in confusion.

“What? That Nether created the Stone Saints?"

She shook her head, obscured by darkness. “No. That the gods can create life.”

Leaning forward a little, she reached toward the embers and pierced the ashes with her seven fingers, making sparks fly.

"No one can create life, Beast of Twilight. Not even the gods. All they can do is reshape it — that is what Nether has done, as well, to create the Stone Saints."

Paling, Noctis leaned back and asked in a dazed tone:

"What does that even mean, though? Hey, Weaver... oh, I meant great Weaver, the Demon of Fate... as far as lies go, this one is not even that convincing, don't you think? From the primordial dragons to the smallest of mice, there are all kinds of creatures populating the vast realms. I really expected better from someone known as the master of lies. I was really looking forward to being deviously cheated, fooled, and deceived!" Noctis shook his head in reproach.

She looked at the dancing sparks.

"It's the same old story, from before the dawn of time. The seven gods were born from the Flame of Desire, just like the seven daemons were born from the Forgotten God. You humans were born from stray sparks. How were all the creatures that the gods created born, then? Where did the sparks that gave them life come from?"

The sparks burned away, their frail warmth swallowed by darkness. She raised her hand from the ashes.

"All life comes from the Flame of Desire, in the end. When the gods were creating the first living beings, they merely tore pieces of themselves and used them to breathe life into their creations... just like the Forgotten God did to breathe life into us. My brother, the Demon of Destiny, was the one to fathom that truth — so, he took sparks of his own flame and placed them into his own creations. That was how the Stone Saints came to be."

She looked at Noctis, who was listening to her with an odd fear in his beautiful, mad eyes.

“That is why Sun God cannot kill Hope. That is also why the gods have grown small and feeble over the ages, having spent their flame to populate all the realms."

Noctis shivered.

“Small... feeble..."

A moment later, a sudden laugh escaped from his lips, vanquishing the ominous silence.

“And here I was, thinking myself the most arrogant man in all of Kingdom of Hope. Leave it to the infamous Demon of Fate to call the great gods small. I am ashamed, I am in awe... I have no words, really!"

He wiped the tears from his eyes.

“But how does one connect to the other? I still don't understand why Hope has to live." She smiled.

“What will happen if she dies, Beast of Twilight? The Shadow Realm cannot contain us, daemons. Death cannot swallow us — he had already tried, and failed. That is because we've never been truly alive, to begin with. We are mere manifestations of a greater flame, and even if we are entirely destroyed, the sparks that give us life will simply return to their source. To the Forgotten God."

Her laughter made the world cower.

“And make Forgotten God complete. Was that what you wanted to ask me, Beast of Twilight? Is that why you carved your heart out under the full moon?"

Noctis looked at her with a pale smile, then inhaled deeply and slowly shook his head. “No... not really."

He let out a joyless laugh, then grinned. "Instead, I wanted to ask you to help me free Hope"

The surefire one is Weaver's mask.
If they re desperate to find Adterion's flaw, and Sunny can't use the mask because he must always ready to battle. Cassie using it isn't so far fetched, of course it s very dangerous and im not sure Sunny allowed it. But desperate times call for desperate measure

I don't get the economics of flame of desire in all living species coming straight from some god. Every biological species which is thriving grows in population. Does the shadow realm act as a large common store for flame of desire? death and birth?

And if the reason Hope was imprisoned rather than killed is partly because the flame would return to the forgotten god. Then why - when every realm has been completely eaten by the dream realm besides the war realm - haven't the other gods started to resurrect?

I mean I guess those gods are already dead? so since every realm has been consumed all the sparks go towards the forgotten god? I still don't get it.

Or lets say NMC's kill the flame, then okay the death of everything in your realm won't bring you back since they die corrupted, but what about those who died from natural causes? Does it all go back towards new creating new life or is there some God seed for each of the defeated?

1: my interpretation is every living thing has a little piece of the flame of desire but it gets cut in half every time through repopulation, so it gets smaller and smaller but it never truly goes away. Also the shadow realm is a place where the hollow vessels of being of the flame of the desire goes and the essence storms are kind of like a filtration system.

2: the gods are already dead, they have returned to the flame of desire. Even if they're scattered self in their own realms die and go back to them they are already dead so all that goes back to the flame. They don't go back to the forgotten God, they are siblings, they go back to the flame of desire.

      3: . . . I don't really know

hope was imprisoned as it says the deamons cant be killed as they just leave the shadow realm therefor but it also says that shadow god was the last to die and embraced all his siblings therefor now the deamons and the god can be trapped in the shadow realm? but the flame of desire created the seven gods the god tore of part of their body to create life. but when they die the flame of desire dosent return to the void or the original it just goes out in the same way as you progress up the acsension path you dont get more flame of desire from somewhere it just becomes greater

I think you're complicating it. All that was said is the gods cannot create new life from nothing. The life comes from a part of their life, or another life. Just like a father and mother will impart a part of their own DNA to give birth to new life. Life has to come from another form of life like Darwin's theory. Therefore the gods cannot create something from nothing. That's a power beyond their means. As simple as that.

Simple theories from a fool here!
For gods who have reached the pinnacle of power and achievement, something like time doesn't exist, so much so that one of their creations was the River of Time, or even blessing a dreamer within the nightmare spell in the future after their death (Sunny). Weaver and Sunny may indeed be the same personification of a liar, or even the most honest person in two worlds, but they are at different points in their endless lives. Concepts like the death of a living being were a means to combat the void, but for deities like Weaver, death is nothing more than a night's sleep. Leaving their fragments behind, Sunny devours them while Weaver awakens from a long sleep, or it could be the origin of the forgotten god. After all, we said that Sunny is Weaver, but what if only one of the incarnations is Weaver and Sunny is the forgotten god? For each incarnation, a different daemon will be born from them!? sasuke

I think you overcooked with this one. I don't think Sunny and Weaver are the same person. There's simply not enough evidence to support this but I do think Weaver is trying to resurrect herself through Sunny. Afterall if everything which makes Sunny Sunny gets replaced by Weaver who is to say Weaver isn't alive. A Ship of Theseus. I also think time is way harder to manipulate than you think.

They are different because weaver is not sunny. But sunny is becoming weaver. Sunny is a blank slate, he lost his fate, his past, his identity and true name. His original body turned to ash, all that is left is a shadow of sunny.
        7
Now comes in weaver's inheritance legacy. Sunny gets weaver's blood, bone, flesh, mind, soul, spirit. He's also searching and assimilating memories of weaver. Learning weaver's craft. Once he gets weavers shadow, will he still be sunny then?
        7
If it walks like weaver, talks like weaver, thinks like weaver, has the body and soul of weaver, true name is Weaver the Deamon of Fate can you honesty say that's still sunny and not really Weaver?

To be honest I am pretty much convinced that sunny is weaver and he just somehow reborn into sunny.
Or weaver manipulated everything to make Sunny himself.
      Like right same flaw

Weaver has to take off the mask to tell the truth, just like Sunny. Problably it has the same flaw as Sunny.
Maybe instead of Sunny going back to the past and becoming Weaver, they all could be reincarnations of the daemons, Sunny of Weaver, Nephis of Hope, Cassie could be Ariel, etc...

Methinks this preludes sunny's ability to create sentient shades.

Also, more and more thinking that sunny really Marethyu'd the heck with weaver. Same flaw, same effect with the mask, darkness for a face, same naming style (or lack thereof)

ok so first how tf does cassie know this as i know she can read fate but this is a bit much for a transcendent also this now clearly tells us that the deamons and gods are on a different level as the gods are so much stronger that according to noctis even describing them as weaker from the perspective of weaver the strongest deamon by a mile is silly to him as they are so much stringer that being a but weaker dosent even matter

This isn't a vision due to the ability to read destiny... this is a memory of something that will happen in a future we don't yet know how... In any case, she can't read destiny because the fabric of destiny is destroyed.
