Chapter 517: Please Kill Me (2)

“Please… kill… me…” I begged.

I acted like I was in extreme pain while unleashing my fake tears. I stared at Kim Hyun-Sung as if I couldn’t take it anymore and simply wanted things to end right there and then.

Kim Hyun-Sung was stupefied. I felt like shouting in delight because of my near-perfect acting, but I obviously couldn’t do something like that. I had to look as sad and as desperate as possible. I cringed to the point that my fingers and toes curled in, but this scene was more important than anything else.

‘This is the pinnacle of self-sacrifice. Indeed.’

The will to give up my life for the peace of the continent.

Goosebumps broke out all over me when I thought about how every living being on this continent was watching this scene at the moment. I could already deduce what they were feeling when they heard the corrupted Light Ki-Young asking to be killed.

It wasn’t just Kim Hyun-Sung.

Park Deok-Gu, Cha Hee-Ra, and everyone else who had been rooting for me just now was now staring at me with sadness.

Kim Hyun-Sung still looked like he had no idea what to say, so I decided to speak.

“Before it’s too late…”

“Mr. K-Ki-Young,” Kim Hyun-Sung stuttered and clenched his fists.

“You have to do it… Mr. Hyun-Sung. Any longer—” I paused.

“Have you come back to your senses?!” he asked.

“AAAARGH!

“Mr. Ki-Young!”

Aaaah!

“Hurry—Aaaargh!” I yelled.

“Mr. Ki-Young…!”

He had to have realized that something was wrong because he immediately ran toward me, but what greeted him wasn’t Light Ki-Young’s warm arms, but Dialugia’s claw.

Boom!

There was a loud explosion as Dialugia sent him flying.

- I-I think I hit him…

‘I’m sure he survived that. People are more focused on us than I thought, and isn’t it more beautiful to see both of us covered in scars?’

- How… With a human like him—Wait, just now… How could you…! T-That kind of dialogue… Do you really not have even an ounce of shame?

Shame? Could I eat that?

“You nauseating hum—Please… Argh! I’m still…! Keugh!

“...”

“Mr. Hyun-Sung… Mr. Hyun-Sung, please…! Keugh… ugh… ha… ha… ha,” I begged.

“...”

AAAAAAARGH…! Haaa, haaa… I’m begging you…!” I added.

“...”

I was sure that this was the hardest acting I had ever done in my entire life, and I was confident that both Ahn Ki-Mo and Kim Ye-Ri couldn’t possibly surpass me right now.

The reveal of the internal struggle between Light Ki-Young and Doom Ki-Young was more gruesome than any other battles so far. My face distorted, and I started twisting before either vomiting or grabbing my chest.

There was a vicious smile on my lips, but my sad eyes kept on unleashing fake tears.

In addition to resisting evil, I was also breathing heavily as if I had already reached my limits.

I was sure that the number of viewers had shot through the roof, and every human being on the continent was definitely praying while watching the scene unfold.

They were definitely praying for Father Lee Ki-Young’s victory against Doom Ki-Young; they were definitely praying that he would have enough strength to resist Belial’s power and fight next to the light once more.

I was sure that they were waiting for a miracle, but a director was supposed to betray their audience’s expectations.

The scene of Light Ki-Young coming out to say his last words were cut short because Doom Ki-Young regained control over Father Lee Ki-Young’s fleshly body once more.

Hahaha…” Doom Ki-Young wiped his tears and fixed his mask. He revealed the evilest smile imaginable and unleashed a signal, notifying everyone that he was in control once more.

Hahahaha!” The childish laugh was so cringey, but it was a shocking scene that surely brought despair to some people.

Kim Hyun-Sung was stupefied as he walked backward while staring at the ink-like smoke twirling around me. I was worried because he looked like he had made up his mind about something.

‘He’s not going to actually kill me, right?’

There was no way he would kill me. He was the same lovely regressor who had been talking to me just a few moments ago, right?

‘I’ll never give up…’

He even said that to me, and he was the type of person who would strive to keep his word no matter what, so there was no way he would give up on me. I was sure that he simply decided to incapacitate me before trying to bring me back to my senses.

I really hope that he was trying to do that rather than just killing me outright…

I stared at him, slightly worried, but Kim Hyun-Sung’s expression was ice cold.

‘No way, right? Hyun-Sung, we’re still friends, right?’

I was worried that he would say something like—I’m sorry, Mr. Ki-Young. Since you want to sacrifice yourself, then I can only oblige—Fortunately, he didn’t say something like that.

However, he glared at me and said coldly, “Give him back. That body isn’t yours, you bastard.”

“He’s me, and I’m him. How dare a mere human speak like that to me. You don’t know anything, you dumb human,” I said.

“You’re not him,” he said.

“Your thoughts won’t change anything. One’s nature can’t change,” I told him.

“Give him back, you bastard,” he repeated.

“No way,” I said.

“Give him back…” he mumbled.

“What are you, a parrot?” I asked.

“Give him back, give him back, give him back now, you piece of shit! You bastard…!”

‘Wait, why are you cursing like that, Hyun-Sung…’

“Dumbass…” I said.

“You bastard…!” he screamed and charged at me

‘What’s wrong with him? Shit, he’s out of his mind. Damn it! What’s wrong with you?!’

I wasn’t sure what was going on, but his gaze was telling me that he wasn’t in his right mind. His hand holding his sword was drenched in blood, and he looked like he couldn’t care less about defending himself.

He reminded me of Cha Hee-Ra.

This was my first time seeing him so furious, and the pressure he was exuding made it hard for me to breathe, even though he was at least a hundred meters away.

I felt like a rat in front of a cat—no, more like a rat in front of a tiger. I shrank instinctively, and I felt like I was going to shit my pants. Light Ki-Young’s survival radar rang furiously, and I wanted to collapse to the ground right now and surrender.

However…

Hahaha! This is fun! This is really fun…!” I laughed.

I was too immersed in my role that my mouth automatically started speaking nonsense.

‘Damn it, what do I do? Dialugia… Shit…!’

- I don’t know. I’ll do my best to stop him…

“You bastard…!” Kim Hyun-Sung yelled.

‘Breath! Damn it! Breath!’

- I know!

‘Hurryyyyyy!’

- Don’t rush me!

Booooooooooooom!

“What?”

Kim Hyun-Sung somehow managed to slice Dialugia’s Plague Breath into two. Dialugia panicked and swung her claws at the approaching Kim Hyun-Sung, but the latter was undeterred. He gathered as much mana as he could to attack.

Our top priority was to retreat, and I was sure that Dialugia realized that she had made a mistake because she immediately flapped her wings. Unfortunately, it was too late.

Kim Hyun-Sung was sent rolling away, but he managed to point his sword at us.

Boooooooom!

There was an incomprehensible sound, and I couldn’t quite grasp Dialugia’s disgraceful fall from the skies. I recovered my balance, but I ended up falling in the same direction as Dialugia.

I had no idea how he arrived in front of me, but Kim Hyun-Sung extended his hand toward me. Kim Hyun-Sung bit his lips while clenching his fists.

‘Why are you gritting your teeth like that?’

However, the conflict in his eyes only lasted for a moment. He looked like he had finally made a decision and reached out for my face.

I hurriedly called out to Belial. ‘Belial! I’m dying… I’m dying!’

The uncontrollable lump of mana within me burst out like a deluge. The mana assumed the figure of a massive demon and enveloped me. The demon looked like Belial, but the difference was that it was made from mana that could be seen with the naked eye.

This was my first time seeing mana being used like this.

‘He’s actually going to hit me!’

However, I thought that it shouldn’t be that bad for me to take a single hit from Kim Hyun-Sung, considering the amount of mana he barely managed to gather.

‘Huuuh?!

Boooooooom!

However, the impact that I felt made me tremble all over.

‘Aaaargh!’

I instinctively suppressed my screams, but I had no idea what was going on.

I couldn’t tell if I was being bounced around somewhere or if I was flying somewhere else. To make matters worse, the impact I received was so powerful that I actually felt like I was suffocating. When I came to my senses, I found myself in an unknown place.

Craaaaaaack!!!

Cough! Cough!

I couldn’t stop coughing.

‘Damn it. I’m alive, right?’

Belial’s mana took the brunt of the attack, but I still got injured.

My legs were trembling, but I mumbled, “It’s fun…! It’s really fun!”

‘It’s not fun. I want to go home. I don’t want to do this anymore… Damn it…!’

However, Belial’s mana seemed deaf to my wishes as it pulled me up and made me punch Kim Hyun-Sung. Kim Hyun-Sung turned his attack into a block, and he was sent rolling away by the impact. However, he reappeared in front of me in the blink of an eye and swung his sword once more.

‘I’ll probably look pathetic if I were to ask him to spare me, right?’

There was a loud boom as another powerful impact was transmitted to me once more from Belial’s mana. Belial’s mana was durable enough to block the attack, but the impact that I felt was definitely real.

It seemed that not even Belial could dampen the shockwave of Kim Hyun-Sung’s attacks. The sight made it seem like one of the monsters was going easy on the other, but the current situation was definitely a fight between monsters.

I gulped out of nervousness at the realization, but the way the two monsters exchanged attacks made the entire scene look a bit more melancholic and intense. In addition, the way Kim Hyun-Sung kept on swinging his sword while covered in blood broke my heart.

‘Man, Hyun-Suuuunggggg…’

“Damn it…!” Kim Hyun-Sung yelled.

“...”

“Damn it…!” he repeated.

Ha… Hahahaha!” I laughed.

Aaaahhh…!

It was unlike him to go beyond his limits, and I could see that he was truly desperate because he was beating up his paralyzed leg.

The battle continued, and Belial’s mana was starting to deplete while more injuries started to appear all over Kim Hyun-Sung. Both of us were having trouble moving because we were reaching our limits, and it wasn’t really strange.

After all, we had been exchanging moves for a few hours by now.

The battle was in a lull.

Everyone had already reached their limits, so they could only watch the gruesome fight.

Ha, ha, you’re not bad… for a piece of trash,” I commented.

“I can save you,” Kim Hyun-Sung said.

“What are you—”

“I can save you. I can…” he repeated.

“...”

“I can save you this time. This time… I’ll save you no matter what,” he said. Anyone could tell from his anguished look that his mind was reaching its limits. I was enjoying the situation, but the sight pricked and made a scar in my conscience.

“I can save you, Mr. Ki-Young. I’m sure… no matter what… so please trust me and hang in there. Trust me and hang in there…” he muttered.

Kim Hyun-Sung was desperately holding back his tears as he stood in the middle of Lindel’s ruins.
