Chapter 482: You Should Be Punished (3) |
I couldn’t really check if she had gotten into a contract with a beast, and the energy that burst out of her body wasn’t a type of magic I had seen before.
I deduced that Jung Ha-Yan had mustered a tremendous amount of mana because the strange tentacles around me tightened. I couldn’t help but think that Rimoura, the High Priest of the 27th Legion and was within the top 2000s among demons was nervous.
I glanced at her and saw that she was smiling brightly.
‘You can stop her, right?’
I wasn’t sure why she was smiling, but she seemed to be enjoying this. Of course, I wasn’t enjoying this at all. I started to feel uneasy at the impending battle between monsters.
Their clumps of mana started moving as if each clump had a will of its own.
‘Shit… I hope Jung Ha-Yan isn’t trying to kill me as well.’
I couldn’t help but feel that way. I also started doubting if Jung Ha-Yan was still in her right mind. The way she kept mumbling with her messy hair reminded me of Juliena. I was sure of it; Jung Ha-Yan was ready to cause some serious trouble.
“Dieeeeee!” Jung Ha-Yan yelled.
Crack! Crackle! Boooooom!
A few clumps of mana flew toward the other demons in the area while the remaining clumps flew toward her.
When the clumps of mana exploded, the tentacles around me loosened up. I was sure that Rimoura found it hard to fight Jung Ha-Yan without going all out while making sure I was safe.
I was sure that Jung Ha-Yan’s magic made her feel threatened.
I moved backward, and the tentacles blocked the next wave of attacks by stacking on top of each other. Their combined force managed to stop Jung Ha-Yan’s attack.
- Fun.
Rimoura said that, but she was biting her lips because her tentacles were losing against Jung Ha-Yan’s clumps of mana. I wasn’t sure how to describe this, but Jung Ha-Yan’s magic consumed Rimoura’s tentacles while moving forward. Jung Ha-Yan’s magic seemed to be tearing Rimoura’s tentacles apart.
‘Shit… An innocent bystander is going to get hurt in the fight. Think about me as well!’
“Roooaaar!”
Craaaaaaaack!
“Groooooooooowl!!!”
Booooooooooom!
There was an explosion, and I could hear the members of the demon legion melt. The demon soldiers who appeared with Rimoura to give her the grand entrance earlier melted in an unrealistic way.
‘What’s going on…’
“Die!!! Die!!! Dieeeeee!!!” Jung Ha-Yan yelled.
The clumps of mana spurted thorns that pierced the heads of the demons, and as if it wasn’t enough, the demons’ heads exploded moments after being pierced. I couldn’t identify the spells that Jung Ha-Yan was using, but I thought it was some kind of spell that she could still manipulate after casting it.
The thorns would inject mana from the clumps, and the mana would go berserk after being injected, resulting in a gory explosion.
I felt like I was watching a miracle unfolding in real time. Jung Ha-Yan was displaying prowess that was so amazing it rivaled Benigoa’s descent into my body. She swept away the demon legion by herself, and it was such a cathartic sight for some reason.
‘What’s… going on… damn it…’
“Roooooooooar!!!”
Craaaaaaaaaaack! Boooooooom!
‘Is this real?’
Many different thoughts popped up in my head. I had allowed Jung Ha-Yan to come with me because I unconsciously thought that I had to spend more time with her. However, I couldn’t help but contemplate my decision back then.
I wasn’t sure if I was willing to take on the risk of carrying around a bomb that could explode at any moment.
‘Shiiiiit…!’
At this point, I didn’t have to think about it because she was way worth the risk. She was one of the puzzle pieces that I needed in the upcoming war, and it was such a marvelous sight to see her overcome the mana limits of mankind.
The majority of the demons in the surroundings were annihilated. I thought they were simply Rimoura’s underlings, but every single one of them wasn’t weak. If I had to categorize them based on the continental standards, they were at least epic rank. Still, they died as if they were nothing but air.
I finally understood why Kim Hyun-Sung—the war hero of our past lives—had taken so much care of Jung Ha-Yan.
“Ha… Ha… Ha…!”
‘Jung Ha-Yan still hasn’t reached her maximum growth?’
“I’m going to kill you. I’ll tear you to shreds… I-I’m going to kill you!” Jung Ha-Yan threatened.
- They were my friends, so I’m kind of sad.
“S-Shut up!! Shut up!!!” yelled Jung Ha-Yan. She unleashed another powerful spell.
‘Seriously… What’s…’
I stared agape as the fight between the two monsters intensified. Rimoura managed to survive Jung Ha-Yan’s onslaught, so I thought it was now her turn.
However, it seemed that Jung Ha-Yan wasn’t done just yet.
Magic arrows started flying toward Jung Ha-Yan, and Rimoura was careful not to hit any of the remaining demons.
“Eeeek!!!”
Magical chains emerged from the ground, and they were covered in flames that seemed capable of burning just about anything. Jung Ha-Yan’s wind blades were also thick enough that I could actually see them with my naked eye.
Anemone’s dark orb that devoured Laios and Jung Ha-Yan’s ridiculous spells that I was seeing for the first time wreaked havoc in the surroundings. I couldn’t see things clearly, but I could tell that the terrain was changing.
Dozens of tentacles flew toward Jung Ha-Yan, but she simply suspended them in mid-air with magic without moving even an inch.
Rimoura tried to approach her at the same pace as her tentacles, but there was no way that the crazy mage would allow her to do that.
Jung Ha-Yan changed the direction of her spells and placed traps around her to stop Rimoura’s approach.
However, this was a fight where one party wanted to escape while the other wanted to give chase, so I thought that it wouldn’t end soon.
Rimoura’s smiling face finally cracked as she started to look a bit serious. She finally realized that the battle wasn’t going the way she wanted it to go. She was suffering a penalty that did not allow him to kill Jung Ha-Yan, so her actions were limited.
However, I reckoned that even if that penalty didn’t exist, I thought that Rimoura would still have a hard time fighting against Jung Ha-Yan. In addition…
‘Jung Ha-Yan is also suffering from a penalty.’
- That’s it?
“Eeeeeeeek! Die!!! Die!!! Just die already!!!” Jung Ha-Yan shouted.
- You won’t be able to protect him… I’ll take him with me today, and I really feel bad for you…
“S-S-Shut up! Shut up…!” she yelled.
- How should I deal with him so that I can have more fun? I can definitely turn him into a man who won’t be able to live without me… In a week’s time, he won’t even notice a human bitch like you. You’re going to lose. You’ll end up bawling on the ground.
“Hiccup… S-Shut Up…” she stuttered.
- Once we’re done here, I think I should ruin his mind. I think it’ll be best if I turn him into an idiot, so he won’t be able to think of anything else. Then, I’ll slowly have my way with this disgusting human. I think that’s the best way to go about it. Ha…
“S-Shut… up… Shut up… Shut up!!! Heuuuung… Just die already! Die!” Jung Ha-Yan yelled.
When the battle started, it seemed as if the two were on the same level. However, the situation started changing as time went on.
‘Experience really does make a difference…’
There was a reason why having enough experience was important.
Jung Ha-Yan was easy to provoke, and she had been using an unreasonable amount of mana to cast her spells. The demon lord definitely noticed that because she kept on taunting Jung Ha-Yan.
Jung Ha-Yan’s furious face became filled with annoyance and anxiety because she discovered that she was starting to reach her limit. It wasn’t really strange that she was fast approaching her limits because she still hadn’t recovered from mana exhaustion.
I was sure she didn’t have that much mana to begin with. The Heart of an Archmage allowed her to recover a portion of her mana while we were on our way here, but it didn’t change the fact that she was still in a bad condition.
It didn’t matter even if she carefully managed her mana consumption, she still wouldn’t be able to guarantee her victory against Rimoura.
Unfortunately, the furious Jung Ha-Yan had been wantonly casting her powerful spells.
Eventually, Jung Ha-Yan’s spells lost much of their firepower, which allowed Rimoura to take more space. This outcome wasn’t really strange.
“Hiccup… Heuuuuung… Go away! Go awaaay! Go awaaaay…!” Jung Ha-Yan screamed.
She channeled a spell, but nothing happened when she cast it.
- How sad… Looks like you’re empty.
“Eeeeeeeeeek! Eeeeeeeeeeeek…!”
Jung Ha-Yan definitely didn’t want to give up because she pulled out a dagger and charged at Rimoura like a lunatic.
There was an explosion, and Jung Ha-Yan flew away.
She rolled on the ground a few times before stopping.
Rimoura approached Jung Ha-Yan and held her up by the hair.
Then, Rimoura slapped Jung Ha-Yan’s cheeks before slamming her into the ground.
‘You’re going to kill her. Shit…! Stop it.’
I glanced at her, and Rimoura came back to her senses. She finally realized that she had gone overboard because she nodded slightly.
Rimoura’s two attacks destroyed Jung Ha-Yan. Jung Ha-Yan couldn’t even create a barrier after exhausting all of her mana.
At this point, she was too weak to resist Rimoura.
“Heuuuuung… Cough… Cough… Oppa… oppa…!” she called out.
‘Geez… you’re breaking my heart…’
“Oppa… Hiccup… Bleeeck…! O-O-Oppa…” she repeated.
She was having difficulties moving, and she sobbed loudly when Rimoura wrapped her tentacles around me again.
She staggered up and ran after us, but she collapsed after taking just a few steps.
“Oppa… Please don’t go…! Don’t go… Hiccup… Heuuuung…” she cried.
‘Don’t do that… You’re breaking my heart…’
“Don’t take him… D-Don’t… Cough… Cough… Don’t take him away…” she begged.
- I’m going to take him away.
“Hiccup… Heuuung… Hiccup!”
“Ha-Yan…” I called out.
“Oppa… Oppaaaaa…”
Jung Ha-Yan desperately stood up and started walking slowly toward me, but she stumbled and fell to the ground.
She kept spitting out blood, and I could see why—it was all because she had sustained so many injuries that she basically looked like a tattered rag.
It broke my heart, but I had to put an end to this drama. If my goal were to fix Jung Ha-Yan’s habit, I would have ended things here, but I had a bigger picture in mind.
“I-I’ll go with you. Please let her go…” I begged.
‘Nice line!’
“Heuuuuuuuuuuung…! Don’t do that… Don’t do that, please… Hiccup…!” Jung Ha-Yan begged.
- You’re making me want to play with her a bit longer, but… I was planning on letting that woman live, anyway. And if you’re the price for letting her go, then don’t mind if I do.
“Thank.. you…” I said.
“Oppaaa… Hiccup… Opaaaaa!! Cough! Cough! Heuuuung… Oppa…!” she called out.
I started floating up into the sky.
Jung Ha-Yan was horrified at the sight. She stood up with much difficulty and started running toward me, but she stumbled on a rock and fell to the ground. Still, she didn’t give up. She stretched her hand out toward me with her face covered in tears and snot.
She started crawling her way toward me with her hand stretched out in front of her as if she was trying to snatch me out of mid-air.
“I’m sorry. Hiccup… I-I’m sorry… It’s my fault…! Hiccup. Hiccup!” Jung Ha-Yan said.
“...”
“Heuuuuung… I’m sorry. I’m—It’s my fault!” she repeated.
“...”
“Please… Please… Please… Hiccup… Hiccup. Give me one more chance, oh God! Please… Please… Just once…!” she begged.
“...”
“Hiccup… Hiccup… Oppaaa…!” she called out.
“...”
“...”
“Live a good life…” I told her.
I smiled bitterly for the sake of a beautiful ending.
A part of me felt sad to see Jung Ha-Yan calling out to me desperately.
‘This is what you call a soap opera.’
I couldn’t help but nod at the ending I had orchestrated.
