Chapter 407: Dialugia, Juliana (1) |
“Let go of me, you bastards!” I ordered
“It’s dangerous!” a soldier said.
“I told you to let go of me, you scums!” I yelled again.
“Please don’t be like this, Father Lee Ki-Young. Please, please let it go,” they requested.
“Shit, shit!” I cursed.
“I’m sorry, but…”
“Shit! That dumb pig! That idiot! Who does he think he is?! That dumb pig!”I screamed.
I couldn’t contain my anger, shocking the soldiers around me. They looked as if they couldn’t believe what they were seeing. I could already imagine what they were thinking; they were definitely questioning if I was the Honorary Cardinal of the Sacred Democratic Country.
‘Shit.’
I felt like I had completely ruined my image out of anger, and this was my first time showing this side of mine to other people. I could understand why the soldiers were shocked. After all, I had always been maintaining a magnanimous and kind demeanor.
Of course, I immediately realized my mistake. Usually, I would overreact whenever something like this happened, but I was not in the mood to do something like that. I took deep breaths and slowly calmed down. I was still angry, but I could recognize that getting angry wouldn’t get me anywhere.
The soldiers around me were helping me calm down as well.
‘I have to stay calm.’
Rage wasn’t a good emotion to possess in situations like this. Anger wouldn’t get me anywhere. Anger wouldn’t get me… anywhere.
‘You pig… You pig! You dumb pig!’
However, I was still furious because I felt like Park Deok-Gu didn’t have a chance against Valentin. Yes, he had grown a lot, and I knew his endurance stat was higher than the average person, but fighting was a different beast from tanking. It wouldn’t matter if his opponent were just a moron, but the Fighter of Ronaf was one of the strongest named members of the Republic, so it would be rather strange if I weren’t worried about him. No matter how much I thought about it, I couldn’t find a way for Park Deok-Gu to win, so I could only think about how long he would last.
He had a strong body, so he wouldn’t die so easily, but he wasn’t immortal. As such, even if he kept his defenses up, it wouldn’t change the fact that he was in danger. It wasn’t just him. The allied forces caught near him were weaker than him, so they were receiving injuries from left and right. I was sure the flag bearer of the allied forces had already signaled to Lee Ji-Hye but could Park Deok-Gu endure Valentin’s tracks until the reinforcements arrived? I should have noticed it when he started talking bullshit.
‘Does he really think he’s the protagonist of some movie?’
It was too late to go back, and it would be a more reasonable decision to join the main forces and form a reinforcement detachment out of the main forces. I wanted to run back to him right now, but it would be dumb to do that.
‘Yeah, this is a reasonable decision.’
“A reasonable decision, a reasonable decision—Shit! Yeah, it’s a reasonable decision. So as fast as possible…” I mumbled.
“Father Lee Ki-Young?” a soldier asked.
“As fast as possible,” I repeated.
“Father Lee Ki-Young.”
“Yes?” I replied.
“I-I’m sorry,” they apologized.
“It’s fine.”
“...”
“I’m the one… who should apologize. I showed a disgraceful side,” I apologized.
“It’s okay. That’s an absurd thing to say. You’re not disgraceful, and it’s completely… understandable,” they said.
“Thank you. Let’s hurry and join the main forces as soon as possible,” I suggested.
“Understood.”
“I’ll lead the path,” I told them.
“Are you…”
“No, we won’t be going back. I think it’s best if we join the main forces and break through. The command center probably knows what’s going on here, so I’m sure they’ll do something to help us,” I answered.
“Alright.”
The soldier with an unknown name slowly nodded. I was worried about them having bad thoughts about me, but they seemed to have gotten even more loyal to me. I had no idea why, but I was glad that there weren’t any other problems.
Naturally, I nodded and started walking. The battle was still ongoing. We were slowly getting closer to the main forces, but I could feel that the entire battlefield was moving as well, so I had to find the right path. I was sure the masked scum and Lee Ji-Hye were fighting with their minds above us, and they were probably the reason why the battlefield was changing in real time.
‘That’s a relief.’
The main forces were still standing. I was sure they were still trying to find a way out or a way to attack the enemy’s weak point. The soldiers inside were busy fighting, but if I could watch them from above, I was certain that it would be been an interesting sight.
‘It’s good for that pig.’
Park Deok-Gu could group up with another detachment as long as he didn’t get himself isolated.
When I saw the allied forces getting closer, I started to feel more and more impatient. The detachment in front of us had to have noticed us because they started heading toward us. The enemy forces were resisting hard, but we were able to break through them. During this, the number of soldiers trying to send me to the main unit started decreasing one by one—no, it was more like they were dying one by one.
“Magic! It’s magic! Cast shield magic!”
“Shield! Shield!”
A large fireball fell.
Craaack!
Some of the soldiers holding up their shields caught fire...
“Aaaahhh!!”
It wasn’t the end. Fireballs kept on falling, injuring the soldiers next to me. The soldiers around me were getting injured, but my goal remained the same. I had to pass by the allies and enemies to keep moving forward.
All of a sudden, an impact ran through the allied forces. However, it wasn’t an attack. The nearest detachment, the enemy that was fighting them, and the reinforcements crashed into each other. The enemy detachment got pinched, but the nearest allied detachment was in a desperate situation, so they fought with more vigor the moment they clapped their eyes at the reinforcements.
“Push them back a bit more! You bastards! Push them back! We’ve come here to support you! Reinforcements!”
‘There aren’t that many of you guys to call yourselves reinforcement.’’
However, it was enough to change the situation. Of course, I was helping them as well, and even though I could only inflict a bit of damage with my alchemy magic, it was better than nothing. I knew I had to save my mana, but the soldiers really didn’t have any room to breathe because the battle was dragging on. The ferocity of the battlefield made it extremely chaotic.
I looked around and noticed enemy detachments heading toward me, and I was so frustrated by the situation that I barely managed to suppress the profanity that was about to come out of my mouth. The masked scum’s side had to have sent reinforcements as well, which made me frown. Since he was the type of that person who enjoyed reaping even the smallest profits, I was sure he wouldn’t just sit by and watch our reinforcements take down his soldiers. He was obviously using the reinforcements to capture the detachment in front of him.
For us, it was unavoidable. No, we could actually avoid a confrontation, but…
‘We can’t do that.’
Finding a new path was impossible, and breaking through to join the main forces before us would be a lot faster. I didn’t know exactly which way the soldiers were moving and what the current situation was like because I could only think about one thing.
‘How far are we from the main forces?’
If we quickly broke through them, then I was sure that we would arrive on time.
“Prepare for battle.”
“Prepare for battle! Prepare for battle!”
The soldiers were prepared because we were in the middle of the battlefield. I told them to prepare for the fresh batch of soldiers heading toward the allied reinforcements and allied forces.
‘It’ll be difficult, but…’
We had no choice.
I took a deep breath as screams echoed everywhere. I wasn’t really comfortable being in the middle of a bloody battlefield, so I had no choice but to close my mouth and hold my hands together. I continued hearing the sound of metal clashing against metal and the detachments in the area grouped up with the reinforcements.
I couldn’t remember their name, but the person responsible for the enemy soldiers looked familiar. They looked as if they had come back alive and were part of the detachment that split from the main forces. Actually, it was more like they got separated from their main forces because of our allied forces. To reap small profits, they skinned our soldiers and caused a lot of damage. The soldiers who couldn’t hold out were hunted and skinned. The bastard’s tactic was detailed and perverted to the point that it gave me goosebumps. He looked exactly the same as the time we played the game together.
‘We’re getting pushed back.’
Obviously, I realized that Lee Ji-Hye was going through a lot. If things were going well, the allied forces with us wouldn’t have fallen out of line and gotten hunted like that. It didn’t seem like they were getting beaten to death, but they were still in pain.
‘This is bad.’
Park Deok-Gu and Valentin were fighting right now, while Kim Hyun-Sung got isolated, so I had no idea where he was. It was the same for Kim Ye-Ri and Jo Hye-Jin’s detachment. Even worse, the main forces were suffering more and more damage as time went on. The situation looked fine right now, but a few hours later, I was sure we would see a big difference in the number of our soldiers compared to them. As such, I had to turn the tables somehow. Even the smallest opening was fine because as long as there was an opening, we could break through it.
‘Should I use the Light Bomb potion?’
No. It had a huge range, but it wasn’t that big. In addition, I didn’t really bring it along with me just to use it on a few soldiers.
‘Should I aggro them?’
It wasn’t a bad idea to have someone cause a commotion. It didn’t take long for me to organize my thoughts, and when I was about to give orders to the detachment that was fighting the enemy troops near me, an enemy suddenly appeared next to me.
‘An assassin?’
I had no idea how they got so close to me, but my current objective was to survive. I was still confused, but I moved backward and raised my hands. Unfortunately, the enemy’s dagger reached my neck faster than I could channel my spell.
A soldier next to me reacted, and he thrust his spear at the assassin. Sadly, the assassin was too good for them to get hit by a mere spear thrust.
‘Shit!’
I bit my lips, and a sword fell from the sky, piercing the assassin’s head.
“J-Juliena?”
I looked up and cheered when I saw it.
“Roaaar!”
It had been quite a while since I last saw her, but I finally saw my wife again.
