Chapter 398: Regressor Instruction Manual (4)

‘No way.’

“Point C, 321.12,” I[1] said.

- Affirmative.

“Point C, 321.69,” I told Kim Hyun-Sung.

- Affirmative.

‘How is he so fast?’

As the battle went on, my jaw dropped even lower. I was having a difficult time tracking Kim Hyun-Sung’s movements even though I was moving my eyes as fast as I could. It seemed that I had already reached my limits.

I wanted to praise myself for making it this far, but I had no leeway to do anything else because the battlefield was constantly changing, which meant the information I was seeing was changing as well.

The battlefield was changing so fast that it was ridiculous. I was surprised by how Kim Hyun-Sung carried out the orders I gave him, even if it seemed a bit too much. He was moving too fast, so I had to make sure his routes were safe in real time.

‘Shit.’

The issue was that I ended up making more work for myself, and it was all because I thought that I had already gotten used to Kim Hyun-Sung’s speed. I knew I shouldn’t have asked for priests and mages. I had already expected that Kim Hyun-Sung would be moving faster than most people, but it was difficult to support him while he was drunk in the atmosphere of the battlefield.

The best I could do for him was constantly instruct him to go to where our allies were located to get him healed up and refresh his buffs. I also made sure to block the spells falling toward him as well as dispatch warriors ahead of time so that they could carve a path he could use safely.

To be honest, I was already pushing the envelope by doing all these.

‘I can’t pay too much attention to the details.’

I had no time to pay attention to the types of buffs Kim Hyun-Sung was receiving as well as the type of spells that had to be blocked. Of course, this included the type of support he was receiving as well as the amount of holy power being poured over him. If I knew and took into account the habits and attributes of those with Epic and Legendary attributes, then I was sure that Kim Hyun-Sung would find it a bit easier to move.

Kim Hyun-Sung’s limits definitely didn’t lie here, so I got bothered by the fact that I was holding him back. I felt relieved that I was somewhat helpful, but I was sure there were disadvantages when it came to receiving orders from me.

“You can slow down. Pay attention to your stamina,” I told him.

- Okay.

‘Yeah, let’s take a break…’

- Cough!

- You crazy monster! Die! Stop him! Don’t let him come up here!

- Don’t hold back on your spells and arrows. We just need to hit him once. Just once!

‘I told you to slow down, man…’

- Shut up and pull the string! Stop him from coming up—cough!

- Ahhh!

- There’s only one enemy! Only one!

‘Slow down, you bastard!’

- What are the warriors doing?!

- Magic! Stop him with magic! Magic! Aaahhh!

“Good job, Mr. Hyun-Sung,” I told him.

- It was nothing.

‘I told you to slow down. Damn, he seems like he’s having fun.’

Kim Hyun-Sung was having fun while I felt like my head was going to explode just from supporting him with all I had. All sorts of information made a beeline for my head as I watched the battlefield, but my brain was finding it difficult to process all the information it was receiving at the same time. As such, the faster Kim Hyun-Sung moved, the heavier the burden was on me.

‘Will my Intelligence increase after doing all this?’

I had no idea how much information my brain could process because this was the first time I used my brain like this. I never had the opportunity to do something like this, even back on Earth. Personally, I thought the reason I managed to last this long was because of my high Intelligence stat.

If my stats were similar to my stats back when I was still in the tutorial dungeon, then I was sure that I would collapse within fifteen seconds of doing all this. Actually, scrap that—five seconds could be my limit back then.

I felt stupid for thinking that getting a nosebleed from overworking one’s brain only happened in cartoons or movies. I even laughed out loud and mocked by saying that it was all a lie to create a dramatic effect, but I was mistaken.

My head was aching badly, but I couldn’t do anything about it. I had to keep moving my eyes. To make things worse, I couldn’t even wipe away the blood dripping down my nostrils because Kim Hyun-Sung was still waiting for my order.

‘Why is this guy making me work hard?’

It wouldn’t be bad to move a little slower, but the way he moved made it seem like he was trying to make me reach my limits. The situation abated a bit, but I saw him moving fast, so I had no choice but to force myself to move with him.

I bit my lips for a moment, but then I suddenly saw a flying spear grazing Kim Hyun-Sung’s shoulder.

Ah.

- I’m fine.

‘Shit…’

My heart started breaking when I saw the wound on his shoulder, and even though it wasn’t a deep wound, he wouldn’t have been wounded in the first place if I just reacted a bit faster.

‘I missed it.’

Obviously, I bit my lips because it hurt my pride a bit. It shouldn’t take long for me to find the guy who had hurled the spear because I was sure they chose Kim Hyun-Sung as their target.

‘Don’t get hurt, Hyun-Sung.’

The enemy targeted Kim Hyun-Sung much later than I thought, and I had made a mistake by thinking that they were supporting a different detachment. The enemies were being plagued by Kim Hyun-Sung, so I was sure they threw the spear after receiving so much damage.

I was certain that they were prepared for the consequences as well. After all, they knew that they would end up getting killed if they moved hastily.

‘He’s a difficult type of enemy to deal with.’

Those who knew their limits were more annoying than those who were arrogant. In addition, they even had an escape route, so they definitely considered their safety the top priority. Another spear was thrown at high speeds, and I scrambled to figure out what was around the enemy.

It was already a lot of work for me to move Park Deok-Gu and Yoo Ah-Young’s detachment, giving precise instructions to the mages about when and where they should use their magic.

I was moving my left and right hand in different directions as well. I was worried about making a mistake with my hands, but fortunately, no mistake happened so far.

The magic hologram showed Kim Hyun-Sung moving. I didn’t expect that it would be so enjoyable to make him move as efficiently as possible within the confines of the battlefield and the situation. Kim Hyun-Sung didn’t waver even once. He would either dodge or block the flying spears before moving toward the many coordinates I was giving him. There was a sense of thrill in doing all this. I felt like I was doing a puzzle, and the puzzle pieces were finally starting to make sense.

I just had to support him at the right time and at the right place, and the regressor would kill the enemy for free.

‘This regressor will kill the enemy for free!’

Flying spears kept on flying at him, but he continued to dodge or block them. The spear-throwing opponent was probably speechless and confused by Kim Hyun-Sung’s movement. I finally gathered enough information about the spear-throwing opponent, and I proceeded to deliver the information to Kim Hyun-Sung as well as the optimal route for him to reach his destination.

Kim Hyun-Sung reacted so quickly that it was difficult to think that he was actually moving based on the information I just gave him. However, I could clearly see from here that he was following my instructions to the letter.

The tricky spear-throwing opponent kept on targeting Kim Hyun-Sung. Honestly, it was more accurate to say that he was a sniper rather than just a spear-throwing player. If Kim Hyun-Sung were a bit closer to him, then I was sure that he wouldn’t even try to attack him. As such, it became clear to me that his detachment was supporting him.

The priests and vanguards at the front line were moving together. The spear-throwing opponent had to have thought that it would be too much for him to throw more spears because I saw him retreating through the goddess’ mirror. I got annoyed because he actually threw one last spear before retreating for good measure.

‘My head hurts.’

Kim Hyun-Sung had to conserve as much stamina as possible, but getting rid of a powerful named player from the enemy’s side would be a net positive result.

“The seventh detachment will soon arrive at the provided coordinates,” I said.

- Affirmative.

The allied and enemy forces sustained more damage as time went on. Kim Hyun-Sung was doing his best to block as many spears as he could, but it was physically impossible to block so many spears flying in so many directions.

“Ji-Hye, make a path!” I ordered.

“What? Where?” she asked.

“I’m going to dispatch the seventh detachment to the coordinates I just shared. You just have to make sure that they arrive there as fast as possible. I made sure that the location is near the seventh detachment,” I replied.

“I don’t have time to—ugh…” she trailed off.

“This is the top priority. Hurry. We’re going to catch that named player, so focus on this a bit more,” I requested.

Ah, I’ll try! I just need to open a path, right?” she asked.

“Yeah. Do it as soon as possible. You can leave the rest to me,” I replied.

“Got it.”

The troops started moving to carve a path, and the battlefield started changing. Kim Hyun-Sung definitely noticed the path being created because he moved in a direction that perfectly matched the route I just told him.

It was obvious how Kim Hyun-Sung easily caught on to the changes and started moving accordingly.

‘Intuition.’

He wasn’t moving based on decisions or what was in front of him. He was moving based on the intuition that he had honed from spending a lot of time on the battlefield. I wasn’t sure if he was aware, but it was a type of skill a person wouldn’t be able to obtain even after studying military tactics.

“You don’t have to dodge it,” I instructed.

- Affirmative.

It didn’t take long for the seventh detachment to create a path and for Kim Hyun-Sung to start moving using it. I saw him swinging his sword. I told him that he didn’t need to dodge because I thought it would be more advantageous if he minimized useless movements to conserve more stamina. Still, I was curious about how he would interpret my order. If he were even a bit doubtful of me, then there was no way he would have followed my instruction without hesitation.

‘Well, shit! I trust you as well, Hyun-Sung!’

The enemy frowned. The flying spear struck Kim Hyun-Sung, but it shattered with a loud noise. He swung his sword at the enemy, and the enemy cried out in response.

- Aegis!

Huh?

A large shield manifested on the enemy’s left arm.

‘Shit!’

He quickly created a spear in his right hand and attacked Kim Hyun-Sung.

‘Is he in danger or not?’

I stared at the unknown shield with Mind’s Eye, and I couldn’t help but get worried. The seventh detachment was already heading toward the enemy detachment surrounding Kim Hyun-Sung. However, the enemies made the mistake of not preparing a mage ahead of time.

They definitely thought that they were enough to deal with Kim Hyun-Sung.

Park Deok-Gu finally couldn’t maintain his unique attribute, Noble Sacrifice, after taking damage from the spear for the third time. Many thoughts appeared in my mind at the sight, but I couldn’t find a way to help Kim Hyun-Sung dodge the incoming attack.

“Do…”

Our lovely regressor turned blurry before I could tell him to dodge. He inexplicably blinked behind the enemy and quickly swung his sword. The spear-throwing man was stupefied. Kim Hyun-Sung was definitely in front of him just now, but the former blinked behind the latter in the proverbial blink of an eye, so I could understand the spear-throwing man’s shock.

The shield he was holding up quickly went flying, along with the arms of the enemy soldiers around him. There was no way an ordinary person would have seen what just happened.

If it weren’t for my attribute, then there was no way I would have understood what happened just now.

The man hurriedly activated an artifact in response, but Kim Hyun-Sung was already in the midst of them all. Kim Hyun-Sung quickly severed one of the man’s arms before the latter could even react.

- Ahhh!

- Stop him! S-Stop him!

- Cough!

Wow…

I found it ridiculous that I actually got worried about him.

‘I-I can’t figure out his limits…’

Funny enough, the 3rd tiger general that was just brutalised has shown a possible future of mc, job wise.
We can assume he's some kind of ice spear sniper or sth. And so it's only natural that he went through a rare job of magic lancer which was one of the 2nd jobs Kiyoung could use.
