Chapter 396: Regressor Instruction Manual (2) |
“What was that just now? What kind of guy lets himself get carried like a princess?” Lee Ji-Hye asked.
“You saw that?” I asked.
“Yes, I saw it, and that’s why I said you shouldn’t go out there and peek like that. I haven’t told you this yet, but your face is no different from a taunting totem, and while we’re on the subject, please refrain from looking at people with those sparkly eyes of yours. It’s the reason why that novel about you is selling like hotcakes even though we’re in the middle of a war. Did you know that many women are leaving the front lines? I’m not sure if this is true, but the women are saying that they don’t want to die because they’re still waiting for the next volume. It can be helpful—yes, but you know that getting involved in a rumor is—”
“What novel?” I asked, interrupting her.
“You don’t know?” she asked.
“I’ve heard of it, but what does that have to do with—”
“I-It’s nothing. You’re slow in the strangest parts,” she said, interrupting me.
“What?” I asked.
“Don’t worry about it. Anyway, did you get hurt?” she questioned.
“Be careful. If it weren’t for Mr. Hyun-Sung—anyway, monitor this screen for now since I have to give orders. Actually, it’s better for you to stay here because you understand Hyun-Sung oppa better than I do,” she said.
“What’s with the screen?” I asked.
“It’s a Kim Hyun-Sung exclusive magic hologram. We’re using an action camera, which will give us a first-person point of view of Kim Hyun-Sung because it’s hard to keep up with him using an ordinary camera. The basic route is set, but… your job is to give directions, coordinate, and set the objectives. Aside from those, you can give support when it comes to smaller tasks. You can easily make a decision because you know Hyun-Sung oppa’s abilities better than me. You know them, right? I honestly want to do it, but I think you’ll do better than me. I need to check the other stations as well,” she explained.
“You’re awfully prepared,” I remarked.
“Since we’re going to use Tall Boy, we might as well use him properly. His stamina and mana are limited—ah! Don’t make him overdo it. I’ll go back to my work now since the enemy seems pretty tough,” she reminded.
“We’re not getting pushed back, right?” I asked.
“No, but I’m still worried. Anyway, it’s about to start. Focus,” she said.
“Okay.”
‘Yeah, she sure is a successful woman.’
I couldn’t help but think that way…
I knew she was a smart woman, but I had never expected her to use this kind of method. We were able to view Kim Hyun-Sung’s actions from his point of view, and since we would give him instructions, it was no different from playing a game. Actually, it was closer to Auto-Hunting. I didn’t have to manually control our tactical Kim Hyun-Sung because he would take care of everything on his own.
‘I think this is good—no, it’s great.’
I had no choice but to trust Kim Hyun-Sung’s decisions because he had more experience on the battlefield than me. I was sure that he knew how to fight and what he had to do to conquer the enemy. Of course, a war this big was more complicated. Kim Hyun-Sung’s eyes weren’t everywhere. He wouldn’t know exactly what was happening on the battlefield unless he had a bird’s eye view of everything. As such, my job was to support him using a camera that gave me a larger view of everything and his personal action camera. This was definitely the perfect job for me because I knew Kim Hyun-Sung’s abilities better than anyone else.
‘Nice.’
- I’ll start breaking through.
“Okay, Mr. Hyun-Sung,” I replied.
Lee Ji-Hye was right. Ordinary eyes couldn’t keep up with Kim Hyun-Sung once he started running with all his might, and if it weren’t for his personal action camera, I wouldn’t have been able to see how he was moving.
‘Is he really human?’
His surroundings were changing really fast, and describing his speed as just fast wasn’t enough. It looked like he was faster than a train. He unsheathed his sword, and in the proverbial blink of an eye, the arms and legs of the enemy in front of him went flying.
The enemy’s limbs were still in the air, but Kim Hyun-Sung was already swinging his sword elsewhere. As soon as he started running around everywhere, the weapons and the severed limbs of the enemies started flying into the air.
Before their severed limbs and arms touched the ground, Kim Hyun-Sung was already elsewhere.
- Swish, thud!
The enemy showed all sorts of reactions.
- Ahhhhhhhh!
- What the! What? What’s… that?!
- Stop him! Do whatever you can to stop him from climbing up!
- Just now! Ahhhhh!
- Shit! Medic! Medic! Priest!
- This is so crazy! Shit!
His movement was so chaotic to the point that I felt like I couldn’t react fast enough to his actions even though I was giving him instructions. It was difficult to give instructions to Kim Hyun-Sung.
‘He’s too fast.’
“A101 on your eleven.”
- Got it.
“After B21 on your nine.”
- Affirmative.
“Change route.”
“Next destination, south-west quadrant, kill the enemy mage. Move immediately to E point.”
- Okay.
His sword incessantly danced, and before I could say anything else, he arrived at the destination and eliminated the target.
“Ji-Hye, Lee Ji-Hye!” I hurriedly called out.
“...”
“Ji-Hye noona!” I yelled.
“W-What? I’m busy right now, too,” she answered.
“Send a few more goddess’ mirrors to my side. One for each point. Hurry,” I ordered.
“Why?” she asked.
“He’s moving too fast for me to track properly. Hurry up. I need a wider view,” I replied.
“H-Hold on,” she said.
“Okay.”
Lee Ji-Hye had to have seen my situation with her own eyes because she immediately sent mirrors to each point. Afterward, my eyes and hands started to get faster because the situation was being shown live. I had to move fast because Kim Hyun-Sung was moving faster than my eyes, and I couldn’t help but pant while doing my best to keep up with him. I was sure that the only reason I could keep up with Kim Hyun-Sung was thanks to my eye-related ability. If Lee Ji-Hye were in my shoes, then she would have long fallen behind. I continued giving instructions, setting objectives, and finding out in real-time where our nuke called Kim Hyun-Sung was needed the most on the battlefield.
‘This isn’t enough. This isn’t nearly enough.’
I couldn’t follow Kim Hyun-Sung’s movement, and I felt really frustrated because I couldn’t give him the information he needed. It felt like I was arrogantly trying to drive a Lamborghini. A part of me felt miserable for not being able to bring out our lovely regressor’s full potential, but I wasn’t going to give up. As I moved my fingers, Kim Hyun-Sung’s personal screen didn’t stop moving, and I couldn’t give him time to rest. If his guide decided to sit back and watch, he would surely start doubting the guide.
‘This makes my head hurt...’
I was neither a genius nor a smart guy. My brain was having a hard time processing the information my eyes were seeing, and I suddenly felt something wet on my nostrils. The rusty smell of blood lingered around me. I was struggling, but I wanted to applaud myself for being able to keep up with Kim Hyun-Sung’s movement so far. I wanted to pat my own head, but I had no time to do that because the enemy was sending soldiers to counter our nuke. Unfortunately for them, Kim Hyun-Sung was a different kind of beast.
- You bastard! Dieee!
A large-framed soldier shouted. He looked proud, but he was instantly decapitated.
- Maintain the shield spell! Buy a bit more time!
The soldier who had just shouted collapsed when his arm was severed. I wasn’t sure how Kim Hyun-Sung was making his decision about who he should kill, but he definitely had a standard. Personally, I prefer that he didn’t kill everyone, but there were benefits to creating casualties.
“A mage is channeling a spell at 213.41. The target seems to be at the base,” I informed.
- Affirmative. I’ll take care of them after finishing up here.
“Next.”
- Affirmative.
“Next.”
- Affirmative.
“Next.”
- Affirmative.
The mage was pretty far, but I believed that Kim Hyun-Sung would make it.
Kim Hyun-Sung retrieved a dagger from his chest pocket and hurled it. The dagger pierced the shield spell and lodged itself into the channeling mage’s forehead.
- Done.
‘He’s really fast.’
However, what he did just now consumed a bit of his mana. The repercussions couldn’t be seen right now, but it would be best for him to conserve his mana. After all, we still had no idea what would happen later.
“You can slow down a bit,” I told him.
- Okay.
‘Who the hell is he?’
I was seeing the same thing our lovely regressor was seeing. I saw soldiers placing a dangerous monster before him, and there were named players from the enemy’s side as well. Even though I was watching the scenes through a screen, I could feel the enemies’ breathing, Kim Hyun-Sung’s breathing, and the intensity of Kim Hyun-Sung’s skirmishes with the enemies. He wasn’t in any danger at all. Hundreds of arrows were flying all at once toward him. There was also a small group of soldiers and mages created to stop Kim Hyun-Sung, and they kept on attacking him. I thought he would retreat at the sight of all this, but he was so ridiculously good at combat. He either dodged or blocked the attacks he couldn’t dodge.
This was my first time seeing him fight at this high of a level.
‘He’s too strong. His existence is breaking the balance.’
There was a reason he was called the masterpiece created by the gods. I couldn’t help but feel a pure sense of awe at how a mere human being could be this strong. There wasn’t anything extraordinary about what Kim Hyun-Sung was doing. He was just dodging or blocking attacks. However, seeing him repeat such simple actions hundreds of times without fail was a sight to behold.
‘He can only be described as overpowered.’
The arms of the majority of the soldiers were severed before they could do anything to stop Kim Hyun-Sung. Even the skilled soldiers didn’t manage to last that long. At this point, I could already deduce the enemy commander’s thoughts. I was sure they were thinking that a moving nuke had fallen in the middle of the battlefield. Even I couldn’t believe what was going on despite seeing it with my own eyes. Finally, I noticed the enemy soldiers changing their strategy.
‘They’re trying to suppress him.’
Part of the overall force I could see was focused on Kim Hyun-Sung.
“Ji-Hye noona!” I called out.
“...”
“Ji-Hye noona!” I yelled.
“...”
“Honey! Darling! Wife!” I shouted.
“Huh? What now?” Lee Ji-Hye answered.
“Give me a priest and a mage. A named player with the longest cast range. Actually, give me a list of priests and mages in each quadrant. Hurry up and send them right here,” I ordered.
“W-Will you be okay?” she asked.
“What do you mean?” I questioned.
“You’re bleeding, oppa.” She pointed out.
“I’m fine, so just send them. Hurry,” I answered.
“O-Okay. Y-You seem like you need them more than him…” she stuttered.
“Hurry up. Then, display the current situation on the mirror,” I requested.
The goddess’ mirrors—no, the magic holograms in front of me depicted a sight to behold.
“I feel like we should make an operational manual or something for this,” I muttered, but I had other thoughts as well.
“That sounds fun. What will you call it?” she asked.
I didn’t answer her, but the perfect title for the operational manual was in my head.
‘Regressor Instruction Manual.’
“That’s it! Hyun-Sung! I love you! Shit!” I cried out.
