Chapter 394: Contacting Helpers

After Old Man told Yang Haoran everything he knew, and after Yang Haoran confirmed it multiple times, he finally collected Old Man's soul into the soul gathering bead. Then he lit a cigarette, gently tapping his fingers on the table, lost in thought.

One cigarette after another, time passed unknowingly until Yang Haoran's mobile phone suddenly rang, waking him from his contemplation.

Taking out his mobile phone, he was surprised to see it was Guanhai calling. Without hesitation, Yang Haoran answered the call.

"What are you up to, Brother Yang? Come out for a drink tonight. I didn't get to spend time with you during my wedding because I was too busy. How about us brothers have a good drink tonight?"

During Guanhai's wedding, it happened to be a few days after the battle with the Resentful Spirit, a very busy time for Yang Haoran. But he still attended Guanhai's wedding and gave him a generous gift.

Since Yang Haoran was very busy himself, and the groom Guanhai was even busier at the time, Yang Haoran attended the wedding in a hurry and left immediately afterwards. Before leaving, he gave Guanhai a bank card with one million yuan, which he had loaned to Guanhai.

Originally, Yang Haoran had planned to give this card to Guanhai before the wedding, but due to the Resentful Spirit incident keeping him occupied, he ended up giving it to Guanhai on the wedding day itself.

As for where the one million yuan came from, it was naturally taken from the Death God Temple. As the Burial Master of the Lecheng Yin Division, all Death God Temples were under his jurisdiction. With the Death God Temple's annual income, lending Guanhai one million, let alone ten million, was no problem.

The Yin Division did not inquire about or require the submission of the New Genesis Coins earned by the Death God Temple each year. The Burial Masters could use them freely - in other words, this money was an extra benefit given to Burial Masters by the Yin Division to spend as they wished, since the Yin Division was not interested in New Genesis Coins.

Of course, as the current Burial Master, Yang Haoran was also not interested in New Genesis Coins now.

"Tonight is not possible, I have some things to take care of." Yang Haoran replied with a smile.

"Don't give me that useless excuse, we'll meet up tonight. Gotta go." Guanhai didn't believe Yang Haoran had anything important and was about to hang up.

"Wait! I really do have something tonight. I'll come drink with you after I'm done!" Yang Haoran hurriedly stopped him with an apologetic look.

"Really have something?" Guanhai still didn't quite believe it.

"Really, you think I'd lie to you?" Yang Haoran responded with a wry smile.

Guanhai was silent for a few seconds before replying, "Since you really do have something, I won't force you. Come drink with me when you're done. Just be careful."

Guanhai didn't ask what Yang Haoran had to do, but he knew it must involve some danger, so he didn't pry.

"Don't worry, it shouldn't be a big problem. I'll contact you when I'm back."

Hanging up, Yang Haoran massaged his temples and forehead, falling back into contemplation.

The reason he was like this was naturally due to the information he got from Old Man about the spirit master.

According to Old Man, there was a middle-aged woman named Zhao among the staff at the crematorium in the western part of the city. This woman had worked at the crematorium for a very long time. Staff came and went, but she steadfastly remained at her post, without any intention of leaving the crematorium.

Because she was bold, treated people well, and was a senior staff member at the crematorium, the other staff admired her greatly. The younger staff called her Auntie Zhao, while those a bit older respectfully called her Sister Zhao.

And this woman was the spirit master that Old Man mentioned.

Logically, after learning this woman's identity, Yang Haoran should have immediately made preparations and headed straight to the western crematorium to subdue this spirit master.

But instead, he remained in his study room, deep in thought.

The reason was that this spirit master was not just an ordinary one like the previous Du Xiao. According to Old Man, this woman was a powerful spirit master.

Yang Haoran had asked Old Man, if the two of them were compared, whose strength would be greater. Old Man's answer was that he dared not say for certain.

According to Old Man, he had never fought against this woman before. Although they knew of each other's existence in Lecheng, they were not well acquainted, so Old Man could not be 100% certain how his strength compared to hers.

Old Man's uncertainty made Yang Haoran quite conflicted, as he had no baseline for the woman's actual strength, so he dared not make any rash decisions.

If he struck recklessly and the woman's strength was inferior to Old Man's, then it would be great to just capture her directly.

But if the woman was stronger than Old Man, then directly confronting her would be like delivering his own head, wouldn't it?

After much consideration, Yang Haoran still decided to try!

The reason was simple - having finally located a spirit master, he could not give up just because he was uncertain of her strength.

However, since he was not yet clear on her strength, he would not be so foolish as to blindly confront the woman. He definitely needed to have a perfect plan.

First, he needed powerful helpers. With many strong helpers, he could overcome an opponent he could not handle alone.

Secondly, he needed to spend some time understanding this woman's strength. Not necessarily comprehending it thoroughly, but at least grasping a rough idea would increase his chances of success when taking action.

The reason why he prioritized preparing helpers before probing the target's strength was because he was worried that if something unexpected happened during the probing process, he might not have enough time to find helpers at the last minute.

Furthermore, finding people to help temporarily doesn't guarantee their availability. If they happened to have important matters to attend to and couldn't free themselves up, the situation would become complicated.

Therefore, he placed contacting helpers as the top priority and investigating the target's strength second. If anything unexpected did occur, at least he would have some assurance this way.

Of course, it would be better if nothing unexpected happened, allowing him to easily subdue the opponent.

When considering helpers, the first person Yang Haoran thought of was Bai Xue, as well as the Spirit Police team leader Captain Luo.

Bai Xue herself was a great demon. Although not exceptionally powerful among great demons, her current strength was quite formidable, without a doubt.

Recently, despite suffering serious injuries, Bai Xue had access to the Spirit Police's treatment methods and could also use her demonic spiritual power to recover. Her strength had mostly recovered and was capable of being put to use.

From the battle against the Resentful Spirit, it was evident that Bai Xue's current strength surpassed that of Deputy Captain Zhou by a considerable margin. Within the Spirit Police, her strength should only be second to Captain Luo. Having her help would provide considerable support.

However, since Bai Xue was a demon, she could not effectively subdue ghosts, which put her at a disadvantage in that regard. But if Bai Xue directly attacked the spirit master, the situation would be different, as the spirit master's physical body was still flesh and blood. Once the spirit master's physical body was destroyed, it would mean one less enemy.

As for Captain Luo, being an exorcist, his methods could exert a certain degree of suppression over ghosts. At that time, he could work together with Captain Luo to deal with the spirit master's guardian spirits, while Bai Xue focused on the spirit master. Such cooperation would greatly increase their chances of success.

Once he had made up his mind, Yang Haoran didn't plan to waste any time and prepared to act immediately according to the plan.

Originally, he had intended to contact Xu Meijing for help in this matter, but considering that Xu Meijing was likely preoccupied with the issue of the soul-refining cauldron, he decided not to trouble her. If he, Bai Xue, and Captain Luo were unable to subdue the opponent, he could ask her then.

As for whether Captain Luo and Bai Xue would agree to help, Yang Haoran was not worried about that. As long as they didn't have any major matters to attend to, they should not refuse.

So, Yang Haoran first called Captain Luo, explaining the situation briefly. The other party did not show any hesitation and agreed readily.

Afterward, Yang Haoran left the study room and headed towards Bai Xue's bedroom, knocking on her door.

Bai Xue had no missions today, so she was at home absorbing Heaven and Earth spirit qi for cultivation. After Yang Haoran knocked, the door opened automatically, and Bai Xue's alluring voice sounded out.

As usual, Yang Haoran did not enter Bai Xue's bedroom but stood at the doorway to explain the situation. As he had expected, Bai Xue did not refuse either and readily agreed to his request.

After contacting the helpers, Yang Haoran decided to set out immediately.

[Heartfelt thankyou for the support! SlaySaga]
