Chapter 211: Mutant Tarbosaurus

"Big brother, how was it?" Qin Ziwu asked, eyes full of expectation.

Qin Ziwen pondered for a moment, then told him about his tasks.

When Qin Ziwu heard his brother's three tasks, he felt something off, why did they seem completely different from Instructor Du's?

If Instructor Du's tasks were about charging into battle as a warrior, then big brother's tasks were about turning him into a leader.

It was just that the third-tier task was a little strange — Beast Tamer, how did it suddenly become a breeder?

Qin Ziwu grinned and said, "Although the name is weird, it's still pretty easy to complete. Didn't Crowned Eagle already break through to Superhuman?"

"Crowned Eagle doesn't count," Qin Ziwen said, looking west. "I'm going back to the residential complex to check."

Creatures hatched in the Giant Beast Breeding Center tended to be larger than their wild counterparts, and there was a small chance of beneficial mutation.

He just didn't know how much bigger a Tarbosaurus hatched here would be compared to a normal Tarbosaurus.

The two Tarbosauruses currently hunting in the Oasis weighed between eighteen and twenty-two tons each.

There was still a huge gap to eighty tons; even with mutation, it wouldn't necessarily skyrocket that high.

.......

Riding the Crowned Eagle back to Home.

Qin Ziwen planned to check on how the Tarbosaurus eggs were doing in incubation.

Although ordinary adult Tarbosauruses didn't meet the requirements, these were hatchlings from the Giant Beast Breeding Center, so they should be larger than normal.

As everyone knows, in nature, as volume increases, weight grows exponentially with each extra meter.

Qin Ziwen took out a card first and used an Enhancement Card on the Giant Beast Breeding Center to activate Beast Spirit.

Then he stepped into the center, and as soon as he entered he stopped.

From the distant shrubs on the first floor, he thought he saw a dark silhouette dart across.

He glanced back at the door.

If he remembered correctly, he had deliberately locked the door before he left last time.

This was his Home; wild animals couldn't possibly wander in.

Without his permission, others wouldn't come in either.

So,

there was only one truth.

He went to the inner shrub area on the first floor.

Sensing his approach, the shrubs near a small tree rustled.

A moment later, a small black head popped out of the bushes, and a pair of red, agate-like eyes stared at him without blinking.

Qin Ziwen's eyes brightened. He crouched down and clapped his hands.

The creature looked wary of strangers and pulled its head back into the bushes, peeking at him through small gaps in the leaves.

"Here, here," Qin Ziwen cooed a few times.

Seeing he meant no harm, the creature boldly crawled out of the shrubs.

This time he could see the little thing clearly.

Its whole body was ink-black, as if it swallowed light itself.

Its eyes were blood-red. It wasn't large, only slightly bigger than a free-range hen from the countryside.

Its head was somewhat large while its body looked delicate by comparison. He reached out to stroke its head.

The newly hatched Tarbosaurus wasn't afraid of people; it chirped once.

Then it waddled forward, bumped its head against his knee, making a soft, affectionate sound.

"Glurp, glurp."

It made noises while stretching its mouth out and gently nibbling his finger.

"Are you hungry?" Qin Ziwen thought for a moment and looked around. "Were you the first to hatch? Where are your siblings?"

"Glurp, glurp," the little Tarbosaurus made an unintelligible sound.

"I'll take you upstairs to have a look." He stood up, picked up the little dinosaur, and headed upstairs.

Upstairs, under the sunlight, the brownish-purple eggs covered with off-white spots still lay in the incubation area, while another spot was littered with black shell fragments chewed to bits, showing signs of having been gnawed — very little remained.

"Looks like you came out earlier." Qin Ziwen teased gently, then carried the little Tarbosaurus outside.

"Liangcai, bring me some fresh meat. If there's no fresh meat, bring only air-dried meat, not smoked," Qin Ziwen instructed.

"Yes, sir," Jia Liangcai hurried off, and shortly returned carrying two large strips of meat personally.

Lowering his voice, Jia Liangcai said, "Sir, this is fresh meat I traded for from them."

Qin Ziwen put a strip of meat into the little Tarbosaurus's mouth. The hatchling wasn't picky and gobbled the whole piece down.

"Don't rush, there's more." Qin Ziwen gently patted its back.

As if calmed by his mood, the little Tarbosaurus steadied and no longer ate as quickly. Its tiny teeth worked hard to tear the meat.

It ate with earnest effort and concentration.

"All black and shiny, I'll call you Little Black," he said.

The little Tarbosaurus, squatting with its back to him while eating, wagged its tail, which made Qin Ziwen laugh; the creature actually had reactions.

He summoned Home, then silently asked it, "Help me extrapolate: what's this Tarbosaurus's maximum potential size?"

[Currently extrapolating... Extrapolation complete]

[The maximum potential weight for this mutant Tarbosaurus is 55 tons]

Qin Ziwen was shocked, then a little disappointed.

He was surprised the little Tarbosaurus's potential wasn't low — a maximum weight of fifty-five tons.

That's roughly more than double a normal Tarbosaurus's weight. By proportions he calculated it would be about 1.4 times the original length.

Using an eighteen-meter baseline for Tarbosaurus length, Little Black could reach about 25.2 meters.

Unfortunately, Tarbosaurus body structure limits their weight ceiling. If this length belonged to a stockier beast, it might have a chance to approach an eighty-thousand-ton class.

Since Tarbosaurus couldn't reach that, what about other large Oasis animals? For example, Paraceratherium — its ordinary individuals are larger than Tarbosaurus. Maybe after breeding center cultivation, Paraceratherium could show promise.

If Paraceratherium also failed, then try to find a Giant Rock Dragon, see if it has hatchlings, or on the next map search for whale calves in the sea.

He wondered if, should this task fail, the breakthrough card's awakened tasks would still be the same three next time.

With these thoughts, Qin Ziwen walked to the other side.

He had only taken a few steps when he collided with Wei Zhaohua.

"Guild Leader! Guild Leader! I think I figured out the use of this plant!" Wei Zhaohua ran over excitedly holding a purple fruit.

"What use?"

Wei Zhaohua trotted over. "It's related to this fruit. I tested the leaves and bark with no effect, but the fruit works on both animals and humans. Its function is that after you eat it, it promotes a secondary phase of physical development!"

Qin Ziwen stopped short. He looked at Wei Zhaohua, and couldn't tell if it was his imagination, but Wei Zhaohua seemed a little taller.

"You... used yourself as the test subject?"

Wei Zhaohua replied calmly, "Guild Leader, rest assured. I tested it on animals first. After confirming it wasn't poisonous, I ate some myself to verify. Just one day, one night passed, and I felt my clothes shrink by about a size. This fruit should be able to trigger secondary physical development."

Damn, you had to use up 3 fruits to figure out something you already knew.

That's really stupid, he already knew the frog ate that and was much bigger than any frog of its kind.

Any idiot would have figured out the fruit's function.
