Chapter 198: Wings of the Sky

"All set?" Qin Ziwen asked.

"All set, I already spread the gasoline in advance," Du Yu nodded.

With that, he stepped forward two paces, took out a long arrow, lit the arrowhead wrapped in an alcohol-soaked cloth, and aimed into the distance.

The bowstring vibrated, the flaming arrow traced a crimson streak and embedded itself in the grass. A pillar of flame erupted with a roar, orange-red tongues of fire blazing along the gasoline trail, transforming into a ring of fire that encircled the hadrosaurs.

"Oom~"

The hadrosaur herd let out low, drawn-out cries.

Several young dragons panicked and retreated, hiding beneath the bellies of the adults.

The tarbosaurus jerked its head back, its amber vertical pupils narrowing into slits. It squinted its eyes, staring at the flames before it, and slowly began to back away.

In the sky, a long, narrow stream of gasoline traced an arc, a large amount of it splashing precisely onto the back of the hadrosaur leader.

The Crowned Eagle circled once before landing back on a high point, picking up a second bucket of gasoline.

Bucket after bucket of the pungent liquid was poured onto the rough back of the hadrosaur leader. The gasoline mixed with soap solution, the viscous fluid filling the numerous grooves and ridges on the hadrosaur's spine.

Some of the soap solution inside hadn't fully mixed evenly with the gasoline, but one couldn't ask for too much from a bird's claws.

The hadrosaur leader raised its head, looking up at the Crowned Eagle in the sky. It tentatively lifted its upper body, wanting to open its mouth and snap at the eagle.

But the Crowned Eagle merely tilted slightly to dodge, flapped its wings, and shot up into the sky. The hadrosaur leader could only watch its retreating figure and let out a dissatisfied cry.

Qin Ziwen had long since taken out his lighter and lit a bonfire.

Smoke rose from the bonfire. The Crowned Eagle plummeted from the sky, its claws grabbing a torch, and flew back up.

A fierce wind howled, instantly snuffing out the torch.

The Crowned Eagle swiftly turned back. This time, it grabbed a piece of charcoal glowing with embers, burnt red-hot.

"Sizzle—"

White smoke rose from the Crowned Eagle's claws. Under the howling gale, the charcoal grew increasingly incandescent within the airflow.

The Crowned Eagle's speed increased more and more, even carrying a hint of impatience.

It flew to a point above the hadrosaur leader and hastily dropped the charcoal.

The fist-sized, dark-red glowing charcoal stone fell.

"Thump~"

A sphere of orange-yellow flame erupted from the hadrosaur leader's back out of thin air. Then, the fire spread like flowing water.

In the blink of an eye, it had expanded across the entire area of the hadrosaur's back soaked in gasoline.

In an instant, the broad spine became a torch!

"ROAR!!!"

The hadrosaur leader let out a piercing roar.

The viscous flames burned on its spine. The intense pain was unbearable.

It lay down on the ground, trying to smother the flames with the grassy turf.

But the gasoline mixed with soap solution clung stubbornly to its body.

Its massive frame rolled once on the ground. Finding it useless, it then ran a circle to the left and right, only to find flames all around. The only path left was the lake behind it.

It turned and charged into the lake.

Its four hooves stepped into the lake surface, the water rising past its ankles, then its knees.

The cold lake water soothed it slightly, but the pain on its back remained.

The Crowned Eagle swooped in from the side and rear, its claws raking several bloody gashes on its neck.

The hadrosaur whipped its head around, biting at empty air.

The Crowned Eagle had already taken advantage of the moment to fly up, continuously harassing from the air. With the added pain of the burning flames, the hadrosaur leader grew increasingly irritable. The deeper it went into the cold lake, the more of its body was submerged, and the more the pain on its back was relieved.

Where the lake water met the flames on its back, large plumes of white steam billowed up. With each step further, the pain on its back diminished a fraction. Even the attacks from that annoying thing became slower.

It continued walking towards the deeper part of the lake. The gasoline left a thin film of oil on the water's surface along its path, which continued to burn.

But the surrounding water grew deeper and deeper. It hesitated for a moment, looked back, and saw the oil film on the water's surface behind it still burning, the flames reflected in its pupils. The hadrosaur let out a low growl and continued walking backwards. It planned to cross the lake and go ashore on the other side.

Suddenly, its front hooves stepped into emptiness. Half its body plunged into the water.

A large stream of bubbles churned on the surface.

The hadrosaur leader struggled desperately, but the mud beneath its feet sucked it in deeper and deeper, firmly gripping its four limbs.

Its massive frame became a burden at this moment.

"Gurgle gurgle......"

The hadrosaur leader's head broke the surface. Although its body length was eighteen meters, its shoulder height was only six meters. In the deep water zone of the lake, its head could barely stay above.

The Crowned Eagle stomped heavily on its face, pushing it back under the water.

The lake water submerged its head.

On the lake surface, several huge bubbles burst. The turbid lake water gradually calmed, leaving only ripples.

The tarbosaurus stood by the lakeshore, watching the drowned hadrosaur leader, a flicker of wariness flashing in its eyes.

It picked up the wild horse by its mouth and left without looking back.

On the shore, the hadrosaur herd looked at their leader sinking to the lake bottom and raised their heads to the sky, letting out mournful cries.

In the distance, He Biao felt his throat go dry. Dinosaurs could be killed like that? Drowned with water? That was also incredibly lucky.

In the sky, the Crowned Eagle still circled above the lake.

Its flying speed grew faster and faster. Finally, it transformed into a sharp arrow shooting straight up into the sky, disappearing into the thick cloud layer.

"Screech—"

A cry that resounded across the oasis echoed through the sky.

A dark shadow descended from overhead. Almost none of the people present could clearly see its movements before the Crowned Eagle had already landed precisely beside Qin Ziwen.

Its appearance was no different from before. The Crowned Eagle's body size hadn't changed.

But its claws had changed extremely noticeably, a full size larger than before, and gleaming with a metallic luster.

The stones beneath its feet were sliced apart as easily as tofu.

Du Yu looked gravely at the Crowned Eagle. From the current Crowned Eagle, he sensed an unprecedented level of threat!

His hunting intuition was screaming at him, extremely dangerous!

This level of danger was even comparable to that of the tarbosaurus.

To think it actually succeeded in advancing.

Qin Ziwen felt somewhat dazed. It was originally just an attempt, setting up gasoline near the hadrosaur in advance. As long as the hadrosaur wasn't stupid enough to charge into the fire, it wouldn't cause it harm, serving at most as a means of driving it away and isolating it.

It mainly relied on the viscous gasoline concocted by the Crowned Eagle and the burning charcoal.

If the hadrosaur, after being startled, hadn't headed into the lake but instead charged recklessly outward, this gasoline would have had a hard time burning it to death.

Its body was too large; the range and duration of the gasoline fire were limited.

The pain from the burning flames disrupted its thoughts. Coupled with the gasoline floating on the water surface behind it and the panic caused by the flames, it headed into the deep water zone and became stuck in the mud.

This was the advantage of an aerial unit. If it were a land-based unit, this operation would have been nearly impossible.

The right timing, favorable terrain, and human effort all stood on the Crowned Eagle's side.

Qin Ziwen cast Insight on the Crowned Eagle.

[Superhuman·Sky Wings·Crowned Eagle: ☆☆☆★★]: Level 2 Steel Claws, Level 2 Airflow Manipulation, Level 2 Extreme Speed.

His gaze locked onto Airflow Manipulation. Was this the airflow manipulation he had imagined?

If it could manipulate airflow, plus the Crowned Eagle's explosively increased strength, could it now carry him and fly?

I don't see MC struggling at all, from the start MC acted like he was bear grylls.. what's the point of this survival game when MC is actually playing a different game from the rest?

He's special, the book is meant to tell the story of someone special who is far above others.

If you want to see someone failing, sinking into the gutter,

you're better off looking for a weak, trashy protagonist drama.

Re: Zero or some similar crap.

        weak ? trashy ? protagonist drama ?
no, I wanted MC to be a little normal and struggle, and then grow, I wanted a journey when everything was new for everyone, If I wanted to read a story like this I would read the regressors who actually have a reason to be better than everyone else.
and no man, who like Re:Zero, that thing is pure trash.
Well it wasn't for me so I already dropped it sometime ago, move on now
