Chapter 192: Crowned Eagle's Superhuman Path

On the Gobi Desert Plain, two-wheeled pushcarts were lined up in a long dragon formation.

On the left and right sides were three hundred men who had come out from the residential complex.

These were all able-bodied young men, accounting for nearly half of the complex's young male population.

Everyone wore various types of hats, pushing the carts as they embarked on their journey.

Qin Ziwen called over Qin Ziwu and Cao Biansheng and asked, "For this trip to the oasis, which of you is planning to attempt to advance to Superhuman?"

The two looked at each other, then turned their heads away.

"Big brother, I want to try a bit harder. Attempting it now... I'm not quite satisfied," Qin Ziwu said honestly.

Cao Biansheng scratched his head, thinking it over. "Guild Leader, I want to accumulate a bit more experience."

"Alright then," Qin Ziwen nodded, feeling somewhat helpless. They had the Breakthrough Card, but unexpectedly, no one wanted to attempt a breakthrough in the short term.

He thought for a moment, then turned to look at the Crowned Eagle standing in the pushcart.

This guy was too lazy to fly and was currently lying in the pushcart.

"Then it's you," Qin Ziwen made up his mind.

Leaving the card in the warehouse wouldn't generate any interest. It was better to convert it into combat power as soon as possible.

The Crowned Eagle was different from humans. Humans could go to the Celestial Star Arrow Gallery and the Martial Training Ground to learn techniques and improve their abilities, but the Crowned Eagle had already reached its limit.

Even given more time, its combat power had hit its current ceiling and was difficult to improve further.

During a rest break along the way, Qin Ziwen took out the card and slapped it onto the Crowned Eagle's back.

[Please select a Superhuman path for Recruit · Ordinary · Crowned Eagle]

[First-tier: Carnivore (Consume over 500 jin of fresh meat within the next five days)]

[Second-tier: Sky Crown (Within the next seven days, single-handedly destroy a Pterosaur flock exceeding one hundred in number. The wingspan of these Pterosaurs must not be less than one meter)]

[Third-tier: Wings of the Sky (Single-handedly hunt a healthy prey whose body weight exceeds your own by a hundredfold)]

Qin Ziwen glanced over the three tasks. They were completely different from Du Yu's tasks.

This Breakthrough Card seemed to generate different tasks based on the individual.

The third-tier task appeared simpler than Du Yu's, changing from a thousandfold to a hundredfold, but humans could create tools and set traps, which was an advantage animals didn't have.

Then there were the first and second-tier tasks.

Currently, the Crowned Eagle's daily food intake was about 10% of its body weight.

That was roughly over twenty jin. Over five days, a normal intake of over a hundred jin should be no problem.

Five hundred jin was almost double the Crowned Eagle's own body weight.

This was outright gluttony. Of course, in the short term, if it ate heavily, consuming three times the normal amount of food wasn't impossible.

As for this second-tier task... destroying a Pterosaur flock exceeding one hundred in number, that might be a bit difficult.

First, you normally might not even encounter a suitable Pterosaur flock. Second, even if you did, wanting to single-handedly destroy a flock of over a hundred Pterosaurs... the difficulty was not just a little bit high.

At least, without special circumstances, completing the second or third-tier tasks would be very hard.

Of course, the first-tier task wasn't simple either.

After pondering for a moment, Qin Ziwen decided to wait.

There was still a day left to make a decision anyway. He would first check the situation at the oasis before deciding. At most, by tomorrow daytime, they would reach the oasis.

......

Hot wind swept up sand and gravel, wheels crushed parched yellow withered grass.

Wang Sheng wiped off his sweat, glanced back at Cao Biansheng behind the team, exchanged a few words with his classmate beside him, then walked back to the very rear of the group.

Arriving beside Cao Biansheng, Wang Sheng said, "Hey, how about we rest for a while? It's too hot during the day. How about we rest during the day and set off again when the sun is about to set and the temperature drops a bit?"

"Go tell my boss about that, why are you telling me?" Cao Biansheng yawned.

Wang Sheng said, "I'm asking you, aren't I? I'm not familiar with your Qin Alliance's Guild Leader. Can you help go talk to him?"

"Guild Leader, Wang Sheng has something to discuss with you!" Cao Biansheng shouted towards the back, then turned his head to Wang Sheng. "Alright, I've told him for you. Go on over."

Wang Sheng's face darkened.

Nevertheless, he still found Qin Ziwen and voiced his idea.

Qin Ziwen looked around at everyone; their faces were all sweaty.

He immediately nodded. "Alright, I was thinking the same thing. I see a shady spot up ahead, let's go there."

"I'll go inform the Alliance about this," Wang Sheng said happily. It seemed this Qin Alliance Guild Leader was easier to approach than imagined.

He went to find He Biao, the person in charge of the Alliance. The Alliance side readily agreed as well.

"Let's rest up ahead!" someone in the team shouted.

The crowd cheered, "Good!"

"Alright."

The cart convoy arrived at the shady spot ahead.

It was actually several large weathered rocks standing on the plain. The rocks were a good twenty to thirty meters high, casting large shadows on the ground.

Everyone first secured the carts, then cleared the resting area.

"There are snakes here, be careful!" someone shouted.

At the base of the rock wall, a Cobra sprang out from a crevice, its neck instantly flattening and expanding.

It swayed its head, flicking its tongue.

Thwack!

A long stick came down, directly knocking it unconscious.

Jin Hao struck a few more times with the stick, confirming the Cobra's head was a bloody pulp, then used the stick to flick it away and toss it aside.

Someone nearby went over to pick up the corpse. "Don't waste it! Heat it up and it's still edible. Jin Hao, you don't want this snake, right?"

"Don't want it, you can have it," Jin Hao shook his head. Although he knew the snake meat was edible, if not handled properly, it could easily cause diarrhea or parasite infection. Better to avoid the trouble.

Everyone rested under the rocks until evening. When the sun set and a hint of coolness touched the Gobi Desert Plain, the team set off again.

As they walked, the scenery ahead gradually changed.

From the flat Gobi plains to patches of hills.

The surrounding plants also gradually became denser.

Sometimes, they could even see small animals darting through distant bushes.

"There's killing intent," Du Yu suddenly said. "There's an ambush ahead."

Receiving Du Yu's warning, Qin Ziwen decisively ordered the team to stop, simultaneously sending out an alert for the two teams ahead to halt as well.

When the team stopped, from both sides and the sand dunes ahead, figures with pairs of glowing green eyes emerged.

By the moonlight, they could be recognized as creatures similar to Gobi wolves.

Their size wasn't large, only about the size of wolfhounds, but they were densely packed, numbering over a hundred. They surged forward one after another, leaping out from behind the sand dunes, then spreading out to both sides. Like shadows seeping out from a sea of sand, they swiftly surrounded the group.

Wang Yun found it somewhat unbelievable. "Can wolf packs be this large?"

He had never heard of wolf packs reaching such a scale.

"Form up! Quickly!"

Du Yu shouted.

Within the team, pushcarts were positioned at the outer perimeter. Under his and Yang Cunshen's direction, the carts were linked end to end, but narrow passages were left between the vehicles for wolves to pass through, forming a ring around the outside.

Those with long weapons held them, surrounding the outer perimeter, forming spear formations.
