Chapter 277-278 On How to Conquer System Fairies and Make Them Your Wives 277-278 |
Time passed, both slowly and quickly at the foot of Mount Buqi. Slowly, as each day etched itself into their memories. Quickly, as the inevitable approached.
One moonlit night…
“I’m on top!”
“No, it’s my turn.”
“I don’t care! I’ll bite you!”
“Go ahead. Bite harder.”
Yu Ling bit his shoulder playfully. Their nightly arguments about who was on top had become a ritual.
Suddenly, they both froze, their expressions turning serious. They exchanged a look, got dressed, and rushed to the summit of Mount Buqi.
A small crack had appeared in the sky, growing slowly, emanating a powerful, alien aura.
“Are you afraid?” Chen Yin smiled.
“No. I’ve been waiting for this.”
She kissed him fiercely. “Just this once, husband. Let’s kill those bastards!”
“Don’t talk about dying. We’re coming back.”
“Fine! If we do, you can do whatever you want!”
Chen Yin’s eyes narrowed. He drew his sword, its aura intensifying. They held hands and stepped into the fissure.
—
They found themselves in a chaotic realm of swirling colors and distorted images – the Void, the space between worlds, a place even Grand Clarity experts avoided.
Yu Ling felt her spiritual energy stagnating and gripped his hand tightly.
“Don’t worry. Let’s go. It’s time to settle the score.” His voice was calm and steady.
They reached a door, a shimmering membrane radiating a soft light.
Chen Yin touched it. “Don’t touch it. You can’t come back.”
Yu Ling knew it led to the Upper Realm.
Suddenly, voices echoed from behind the door.
“…Hurry up.”
“Coming, Master…”
Two figures approached – a general in silver armor and a soldier in bronze armor, both wearing fanged masks. They stepped through the door and froze, surprised to see them.
“Who are you?!” the general shouted, his aura powerful and intimidating.
Yu Ling almost flinched, but Chen Yin shielded her. “Are you from the Upper Realm?” he asked calmly.
The general sized him up and chuckled. “I thought it was one of the Dao Venerable’s subordinates. But you’re just ants. The ‘variable’ Master Jiazi mentioned?”
The soldier sneered. “Ants trespassing in the Void? And that girl is quite pretty…”
“He gets tired of them quickly. We’ll keep her as a spare.”
They continued their conversation, their words arrogant and dismissive.
Yu Ling’s fists clenched, her mind calculating.
Chen Yin’s eyes turned cold. “So ‘Jiazi’ is the one who sent the projection. He didn’t come personally? What a pity.”
Their laughter stopped. The general turned to him, his eyes narrowed. “Are you mocking Master Jiazi?”
“Not at all,” Chen Yin shrugged. “Just wondering if one of you could deliver a message. Tell him to come here personally. I need his corpse.”
Their expressions darkened.
“Ant, do you know what you’re saying?”
“I can repeat it.” Chen Yin grinned. “Go fuck yourself, you piece of shit.”
The general’s aura surged, his anger barely contained.
“You insolent ant!” the soldier yelled. “We’ll turn you into jerky, and Master Binggeng will have his way with your girlfriend—”
He suddenly stopped, a gurgling sound coming from his throat. He touched it, his hand coming away covered in blood.
“Talking shit, huh? I love shutting people up,” Chen Yin grinned.
The soldier stared at him in shock, then clutched his throat, trying to speak.
“Stop whining! You won’t die!” the general said with disgust, his gaze fixed on Chen Yin, a flicker of caution in his eyes. “A Sword Dao Cultivator? A troublesome ant, indeed. Let me see what you’re capable of!”
Chen Yin glanced at Yu Ling. “Can you handle that one?”
“I’ll beat him to a pulp!” Yu Ling nodded seriously.
“Then he’s all yours.”
Chen Yin turned his attention to the general. The soldier was just an ordinary Immortal. Yu Ling could handle him. But the general’s aura was far more powerful than that of the projection.
So the projection was just an Immortal. And they spoke of him with such respect… Jiazi must be much stronger.
But Chen Yin wasn’t afraid. He had comprehended two Daos, reached Grand Clarity, and now he had the complete Eternal Light Sword. He didn’t know how strong he was.
He wanted to test his limits.
“Since you’re here,”
“Let’s start with you.” His eyes locked onto the general.
The bronze-armored soldier was frustrated. This was supposed to be an easy mission. Usually, these “harvesting” tasks were handled by lowly slave soldiers, not by someone of his rank.
But not only had he been assigned this mission,
He had also been humiliated by a Lower Realm ant, his throat pierced by a single sword strike.
Although his immortal body would regenerate, the wound, though not fatal, was a deep blow to his pride.
He couldn’t tell anyone about it.
The other soldiers would mock him relentlessly if they knew he had been injured by a Lower Realm ant.
And what was even more frustrating was that he hadn’t even seen the attack coming.
He had only realized his opponent was a Sword Cultivator after hearing the general mention the “Sword Dao.”
A Sword Dao Cultivator. A terrifying opponent, even in the Upper Realm.
Such cultivators were known for their swift and deadly attacks. He was no match for someone like that.
So, unable to vent his anger on Chen Yin, he turned his attention to Yu Ling.
She didn’t seem as dangerous.
He doubted she was also a Sword Dao Cultivator.
“Grr…”
He let out a guttural roar, his throat still healing, and charged towards her, his halberd raised.
Yu Ling met his attack head-on.
The moment their weapons clashed, the soldier grinned.
…As expected. She’s weak.
She hadn’t even reached the Immortal Realm, just a Grand Clarity Realm cultivator who had comprehended the Dao. She didn’t possess true immortal energy.
And in the Void, lower-level spiritual energy was useless.
She was a toy to him.
He easily knocked her back, a smug grin on his face.
“Die!” he roared, his voice distorted by his injured throat.
He would avenge his humiliation by killing her, making that Lower Realm ant watch as his companion died.
He attacked again,
But Yu Ling didn’t retreat. She charged forward, her sword aimed at his chest, a desperate, suicidal attack.
The soldier, being an Immortal, didn’t even bother dodging.
Her sword pierced his chest, but he felt nothing, while his halberd tore through her shoulder, leaving a bloody wound.
He laughed.
This woman was a fool, trading blows with an Immortal.
She didn’t understand the difference in their regenerative abilities.
At this rate, she would kill herself before he even had to lift a finger.
“Foolish… ant!”
He grinned and attacked relentlessly, his halberd, infused with immortal energy, a blur of motion, each strike carrying enough power to shatter mountains.
Yu Ling struggled to defend herself, her body battered and bruised, but she didn’t make a sound, her eyes shining with a fierce determination.
The soldier gradually realized something was wrong.
…Doesn’t she feel pain?
He had landed several devastating blows, but she hadn’t even flinched, her attacks becoming more and more desperate, each strike a suicidal trade.
He felt a strange unease.
His arm felt heavy, the halberd suddenly weighing him down.
And his chest was riddled with wounds, each one a testament to her relentless attacks.
He didn’t understand what she was doing.
Yu Ling’s body was covered in blood, her dress and hair soaked, but her eyes, fixed on him, burned with an almost inhuman intensity.
He felt like prey caught in a predator’s gaze.
Then he realized what was wrong.
She should be dead.
A mortal body couldn’t withstand so many attacks from an Immortal.
But she was still standing, her movements unwavering, her attacks relentless.
He was starting to feel afraid.
Afraid of a Lower Realm ant.
He had never felt this before. It was as if he wasn’t fighting a person,
But a rabid dog,
Determined to bite him even in death.
He panicked and unleashed his full power, his halberd crackling with immortal energy, a devastating blow aimed at her heart.
He was certain this would kill her.
But once again, he was wrong.
His halberd pierced through her chest, but at the same time, her sword plunged deep into his heart.
He stared at her, her eyes blazing with fury, her voice sending chills down his spine.
“You’re the first,”
“Upper Realm bastard to be offered to the graves of the Yu Alliance!”
His face paled.
His immortal energy began to fade.
His flesh, starting from the wound in his chest, began to decay, turning black and lifeless.
“Wh-what is this?!”
He struggled, but Yu Ling held his halberd firmly in place, her hands mangled and bloody, but her gaze unwavering.
“Impossible!”
“You… you’ve comprehended the Dao of Life and Death!” he screamed, finally understanding why he couldn’t kill her.
As long as she didn’t want to die, she wouldn’t die.
Only the Dao Venerable himself could overcome the Dao of Life and Death.
He could only watch in horror as his life force drained away, his body rotting and decaying.
He was truly afraid now.
“No… no!”
“I can’t die! I can’t be killed by a Lower Realm ant!”
“Master Ding Chen! Save me!”
He struggled desperately, but Yu Ling held him fast, her grip like iron.
He felt like an insect caught in a spiderweb.
Her bloodstained smile was terrifying.
“So even you Upper Realm beings are afraid of death,” she said, her voice hoarse.
If you’re afraid of death,
Did you hear their cries?
Did you hear Luo Xiaoxiao and Hu Li?
Did you hear the pleas of the Yu Alliance children?
…You couldn’t hear them.
“But I hear them every night.”
“Clear as day.” She gritted her teeth.
The soldier’s screams and pleas gradually weakened, then faded into silence.
When Yu Ling withdrew her sword, his body was a withered husk.
She looked at his lifeless form,
A sense of relief washing over her.
She suddenly felt exhausted, her body heavy with fatigue.
She turned to look for Chen Yin, worried about him.
…The general was much stronger than the soldier.
She heard a loud crash from the distance.
Then, a figure came flying towards them, landing heavily on the ground.
It was the general, Ding Chen, his armor broken, his body covered in wounds.
“Impossible!”
“Two Daos! A Dao-infused sword!”
“Who are you?!” he roared in disbelief.
He didn’t get an answer.
The Eternal Light Sword flashed, a brilliant meteor in the chaotic Void.
Ding Chen’s eyes widened in terror as the sword light engulfed him.
A warm hand suddenly rested on Yu Ling’s head.
“…Well done,” Chen Yin’s voice was soft and gentle as he stroked her hair.
Yu Ling lowered her head silently,
Then she threw herself into his arms, burying her face in his chest.
“Don’t talk,” she whispered, her voice muffled against his clothes, “just… hold me.”
Her body was covered in blood and grime, but she clung to him, her arms wrapped tightly around him.
Chen Yin knew she was happy.
At least, she finally had the courage to face their graves.
He held her close, his gaze flickering towards the Eternal Light Sword.
Its aura had dimmed, its once pristine blade now marred by faint cracks.
He remembered the Immortal Venerable’s words.
The Eternal Light Sword couldn’t fully contain his power.
Using its full potential would damage it.
He had used the Second Sword, infused with the power of both his Daos, for the first time.
And the sword had trembled in his hand.
Perhaps that was why, in his own time, it had been a lifeless, dormant blade.
…You’ve worked hard, he thought, sheathing the sword gently.
