Bro that's gonna be absolutely unreasonable since by the time he reaches the black rank at least certain yellow missions shouldn't pose any threats to him(I can't give you a definite answer because of the lack of information from the world building).
So now lets say what you said is true then his life will be tied to these 4 things: treasures, connections, forbidden techniques and luck. The best course of action would be to excel in areas such as alchemy, forging, calligraphy, go, formation mastery, military tactics and amass as much reputation as he can; making friends along the way, getting resources for several levels ahead of himself, learning various techniques till the verge of breakthrough and then go on mission spree; this is on the promise of the missions having a certain timeline and that the difficulty wouldn't change midway because of his rise in power( I think there is a time limit because it's supposed to be the "real world").

Still I would like to invite you to think logically and don't think of his system as something that can change everything; I mean suppose he chose an option to infiltrate a clan and steal a certain black grade technique(while being on yellow rank and the said clan was simply lucky to get their hands on it); reality is reality and I don't think in every situation such as this there would suddenly be a force to overpower him or a real chance of dying.
P.s: in short connections and formation mastery are the most important ones followed by treasures and luck.

Reverend Insanity (amazing plot, can be slow at times, and the details may be a bit boring, but even the smallest of things dont go unnoticed by the author; quite literally plot holeless)

Lord Of the Mysteries (it might take you a while to understand, but once you do, the read will be on par with classics such as harry potter)

The Author's POV (really interesting read. the story is detailed, and interactions between characters don't seem force. the act of seeing someone know the situation from the back of their hand, but also have problems that raise suspense makes this book a great read)+
