After dying from overwork, Xu Xi transmigrates to another world invaded by a survival game.

To his shock, he gains a bizarre ability: every time he dies, he can rewind time.

Using this death-rewind power, Xu Xi repeatedly escapes danger and clears deadly dungeons—

And in the process, he accidentally becomes famous in the real world livestream audience, who mistake him for a mysterious top-tier strategist.

“How the hell did he know that would work?!”

“What’s Xu Xi planning this time? Can some big-brain explain? I’m lost, man!”

“D*mn—such unfathomable depth, meticulous thinking, and flawless execution! He’s a god!”

“He may look unremarkable, but he’s clearly pulling the strings from the shadows!”

If Xu Xi could hear their praise, he’d probably cry out in utter grievance:

“No! You’re overthinking it! I’m not a genius! Not a mastermind! Not a tactician! I just DIED for that knowledge!” Collapse

Poison tested a bit, and so far it's a decently good novel.
Very nice balance of funny stuff happening and dark and gruesome death game going on.

The novel mainly follows 2 perspectives at the same time: MC and the people watching his Livestream.

MC is just your everyday average guy. Aside from "return by death" he has no special quirks or OP stuff going on and his reactions are all relatable and realistic.
He gets scared when scary and supernatural shit happens. He gets frustrated, angry and depressed when he's feeling helpless. But it's not over the top and after venting for a bit and dying, he calms down and continues normally.
What I really like is that his IQ is also average.
He needs multiple lives to figure things out, actually takes time to come to conclusions and he will also be wrong, leading to his death.
So far everything seems logical as well, with nothing being too absurd.

The viewers are real funny. I love them.
They send snarky messages, supportive messages, make fun of him and backseat, tho MC can't see them.
They also don't have the "return by death" feature nor know about it.
They think he clears the dungeons on his first try, which is where the "MC is a genius" comes from.

So far, my highlight was: MC spent a bunch of lives trying to figure things out. Thought he did and confidently went to set up the ritual to clear the dungeon, only to be wrong and die.
To the viewers it looked like this guy just spawned it, grabbed all the necessary clues and items, set up a clearing ritual and die, leaving them utterly baffled.

It was funnier that when he actually cleared the dungeon on his "first try" lol

So far, nothing much about the world building or "return by death" was revealed, aside from this death game randomly spawning in one day, kidnapping people. If they die the area they are from gets polluted. And if they life the area gets less polluted. They need to clear a certain amount of death games to escape and also get one wish if they do. Which is deffo a scam cus MC died in literally 5 minutes.
MC also reincarnated onto this planet that has the death game, into a guy that died and reincarnated as a player of the game, as far as I've understood.

Overall, would recommend. There's no explicit gore and it's a very fun read and super easy to get into.
Not far enough for a proper rating but the viewers comments get a 10/10 👍

I'm at his 4th trial now and things have changed a bit.
the MC as become accustomed to "return by death".
In the beginning he was constantly worried about it being limited, but by now he's adapted a gamer mindset of "might as well try shit out and if it doesn't work I'll just reload and if it's really limited ig I'll just die fr"
There are also multiplayer dungeons now.
Very interesting to see, since most of the other players are way smarter than MC and he has to just yolo them, since he can't explain his "return by death" knowledge.

"Return by death" has also changed. He used to go back to the beginning of the dungeon's trial, but now there are "checkpoints".
I really like this, cus he can't choose to "save" but will instead randomly return to the node that enden up killing him. Meaning if the other players in the trial die before that, they are dead fr and can't be saved.
This creates a variety and makes the trials more interesting, since it's guaranteed that MC will survive.

So far all the trials are pretty unique and very different from each other. The clearing methods are also different.

The only change I kinda dislike are the viewers. They are way less funny now and mostly focus on overanalyzing the MC and vastly mischaracterizing him.
Kinda understandable tho,, since bro doesn't explain ANYTHING at all, so everyone just assumes he is incredibly smart and always knows exactly what's going on.

The comedy overall has become less common and mostly switched to "MC is kinda dumb".
Understandable, since these guys all survived multiple trials while MC died in 5 minutes and hard relies on his reloading.
It's still funny, but less my type of humor, compared to the first trial.
A good thing this has brought, is that when MC tries out random shit now, it might not always lead to his own death, but the death of a teammate instead. And the other characters WILL notice that.
Combined with the fact that he is seen as "insanely smart and knowledgeable" due to his "return by death", everyone will assume he intentionally killed that player.
This also creates nice variables, since characters that are supposed to survive the trial might now be accidentally killed off by the MC, so now you REALLY don't know who will survive and who won't.

Now, even tho MC is portrayed as "dumb" by the narrative compared to others, it's not over the top either. He just needs a reasonable time to figure things out. He also needs clues. The other players somehow manage to figure shit out with tiny details, that even I didn't notice. And I not only have a gods eyes view from the combined perspective of the players and viewers, but also a character that literally explains how MC "figured things out" logically, since no one's knows about his reloading.

But maybe I'm just the dumb one idk

Overall, this author is pretty good at finding a nice balance.
Nothing is too over the top.
if unreasonable things happen, there's usually a decent explanation given later as to how this could logically happen.
if the story starts to drag a bit, things will change to keep it interesting and if the MC can't fill a certain role slot, there will usually be someone else to fill it.

      Overall, still enjoying the experience.
Imo the novel got a bit weaker, but that's based on my humor.
Personally I think the "glazing the MC" cus everyone is misunderstanding is a bit too much and not that funny and I kinda miss the comedy of the first few chapters, but I also laugh at bread falling over, so take that with a grain of salt...

Still, would recommend, I hope some of the previous characters show up again or some of the viewers end up as his teammates cus that would be funny af

Amitabha... I am willing to undergo this poison test so that my brothers and sisters may continue to live in safety.

I tried a bit of this poison. If you’ve read this kind of novel before (I died and reloaded a save), this one won’t surprise you, but it also won’t upset you. Imagine drinking a glass of cold water on an incredibly hot summer day—it’s definitely refreshing, right? But an ice-cold Sprite would be even more refreshing. This novel isn’t as sweet and refreshing as an ice-cold Sprite, but like cold water it will quench your thirst, meet your need, and save you from the scorching heat. Still, if you have Sprite at hand, cold water wouldn’t be your first choice. I don’t think I can explain it more clearly.

If you haven’t read this kind of novel before, I want to give a bit of context. It’s actually a fun genre to read, but most novels like this are very similar to each other:

    - The main character’s only ability is resetting to a save point after dying

    - The main character is untalented

    - The main character is an ordinary person like you or me and reacts to events the way a normal person would

    - Through repeated death loops, the main character hardens, sheds their former cowardice, and turns into a much more experienced player

This novel is largely like others in its genre, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t enjoyable—it’s actually quite good.

In short, I recommend it: 7/10.

            Overall Rating 8⭐/10

Story The core hook is incredibly fun, it’s a brutal death game where the MC’s only cheat is a "return by death" mechanic. It starts out with him soloing trials by dying over and over until he figures out the puzzle. Since the livestream viewers don't know he's looping, they think he's just flawlessly speedrunning dungeons on his first try, which leads to some top-tier comedy. By the 4th trial, things shift into multiplayer dungeons with "checkpoints" rather than full resets. This is a massive upgrade for the tension because he can't just save-scum to keep everyone alive. If a teammate dies before a checkpoint, they're dead for real. Sometimes his blind trial-and-error even accidentally gets teammates killed, which just makes everyone else think he's a cold, calculating mastermind sacrificing people on purpose.
            My verdict is 8⭐/10

World building The setup is straightforward but effective. Death games randomly started kidnapping people one day, and the stakes are directly tied to the real world: dying pollutes your home region, while surviving cleanses it. Players are promised a "wish" if they clear enough trials to escape, though considering how easily you can get wiped out in the first five minutes, it definitely feels like a rigged scam. We don't have all the deep, overarching lore just yet, but the individual trials are highly unique and the puzzle mechanics stay fresh.
            My verdict is 7.5⭐/10

Character The MC is a breath of fresh air specifically because he's so painfully average. He doesn't have a secret 500 IQ or OP combat skills. He gets terrified, gets frustrated, makes wrong assumptions, and heavily relies on his extra lives to figure things out. The contrast between him and the veteran players—who actually notice tiny clues on the first try—is handled really well. But the best part of the cast is easily the livestream viewers. They backseat, troll, and completely mischaracterize the MC. They constantly "glaze" him as an untouchable genius, and while that joke gets a little repetitive later on, the sheer misunderstanding of this normal guy just trying not to die is great.
            My verdict is 8⭐/10

Writing The author totally nails the balance between a dark, gruesome death game and genuine comedy. The pacing is tight; whenever a specific joke or trial format starts to drag, the author is smart enough to switch up the dynamics to keep it interesting. Even when the narrative shifts to making the MC look a bit "dumb" compared to his teammates, it doesn't feel forced—it’s just a realistic take on an average guy surviving on trial and error. Best of all, the logic holds up. If something seems like a plot hole or totally unreasonable at first, the author usually drops a solid explanation for it later on.
            My verdict is 8.5⭐/10
