This is the story of a psychologist who runs around a Xianxia world, psychologically messing with everyone he meets. It's utterly twisted.

Interesting story, but it seems a bit too heavy on the explanation and setup side, so I will wait for it to gain more chapters, lest I be left wanting for more.

This is the synopsis from Mangaupdates:

Li Yunxin is a human being, but he behaves like a demon. He was a psychologist in his previous life. Now, he has been reincarnated as a painter who knows how to cast spells, but he knows best how to manipulate the humans' minds. He's chased by Taoists, so he teams up with demons. Whether they are humans or demons, they will eventually become pawns of Li Yunxin. Even the two soul collectors would ask him, "Where are you from, cannibal demon?" Li Yunxin eats humans, as well as their hearts.
Brief introduction: Li Yunxin is both a human and a demon.

    Inner Demon Review

    Minor spoilers ahead

Inner Demon is one of those rare Chinese novels that walks the tightrope between mature philosophy, psychological darkness, and unexpected humor.....and somehow never slips. If you seek a story that refuses to show its full hand, that hides its answers behind veils of history, art, and madness… then fellow Daoists, this tome will be a delightful poison.

The reincarnated protagonist was once a psychiatrist.....one with high intelligence, antisocial tendencies, a performance personality, and emotional detachment. A man who could diagnose the world but not himself. A man capable of manipulation… and worse. His past is shrouded in ominous mystery, slowly revealed through hints rather than cheap exposition.

Upon reincarnating, he does not become a golden-fingered genius blessed by the heavens. No....he steals the body of a demon, using wits, strategy, and sheer psychological pressure. Every scheme he performs feels earned. Nothing is perfect, nothing is convenient; he is a clever man thrown into a storm, improvising and surviving through authentic intelligence rather than author fiat.

Unlike typical cultivators who amputate their emotions for power, this MC is a creature who must reclaim his emotions....piece by piece. In many ways, he becomes more monstrous than the monsters he battles, and it’s fascinating to watch.

The worldbuilding is rich with Chinese artistic and cultural references...paintings, styles, historical notes....making the story strangely educational. You enter for the demon-cultivation thriller and leave knowing more about China’s art history than intended.

As for the translation? Top tier. Endnotes explaining terms, references, even images of certain artifacts..... and occasionally, delightful surprises (the “League of Legends” footnote remains legendary).

In the grand ranking of all the 4+ novels I’ve consumed (yes, I too am shackled by this addiction), Inner Demon easily scores 4 and above. A gem among gems. A mature, lore-dense, psychologically complex tale with a single heroine, a monstrous MC, and a tone that lingers long after the chapter ends.

    A top-tier read. Highly recommended.

Brother, this humble Daoist is honored you’d even ask.
But alas… my journey through 4.0+ novels is like wandering an endless mountain range made of chapters.
I read, I update, I reread, I reshuffle.... an eternal cycle worthy of reincarnation itself.

Some novels ascend the ranking peaks, others get kicked back down when I find a shinier gem.
So my list is still evolving, still mutating, still being beaten into shape on the Workbench of Literary Refinement. But worry not.
I will create a proper favorites/ranking page like the one you linked ....neat, sharp, Daoist-approved, and blessed with the aroma of good taste.
The groundwork has already begun. The quill is sharpened. The scrolls are being sorted. The wine is, unfortunately, already gone.

        So…
be patient with this humble Daoist,
whose brain is 70% novels and 30% regret.

        The list will come.
Just give me time to refine it into something worthy of your bookmarks.

Sadly not. And I think it might not be any time soon. I would like to apologise for that as you see I'm still in the developing part and the foreign websites are like a highly addictive. I can assure you that by two months i could get back a clear cut list with jap/kr/cn/eng/+ novels.
