Varian only wanted to end the war with the Abyssals and bring peace so that no one would lose their dad like he did.

So he vowed to be the strongest Awakener and reach the peak of Divine Paths:

Body Awakeners blasted mountains with a punch.
Telepaths controlled enemies from a different continent.
Morphers transformed into mythical beasts and plants.
Elementals controlled the Four Elements.
Space and Time Awakeners ruled the dimensions.

But those dreams crumbled the day his Mom died. A year passed and his dreams faded.

He thought life would stay the same until…

Divine Path System revealed his mother’s last wish — Save the mysterious girl that haunted his dreams.

Armed with a mysterious system and determination to fulfill his mother’s last wish, will Varian be able to save the girl and find out why his mother wanted to save her?

Join Varian on his journey as he writes his own destiny.

TLDR: A young man’s journey to fulfill his mother’s last wish to find the mysterious girl that haunts his dreams in a futuristic world with super powers.

Note:
1. The ending of this story, including the entire story, is decided. If you are worrying about whether the story has a proper ending, I can say with certainty the ending is beautiful.

2. If there is more response, I’ll be motivated to write more every day.

3. When you give a review, try to be constructive. Criticism is accepted and welcome, but no hate reviews. Collapse

Read until 148. The plot is straightforward, but the author is kinda wishy washy about it. Overall it's okay excepts for some parts that bother me like the fact that during the entirety of his training he doesn't get strong but everytimes he fights the common sense just goes out the window for him. Pretty sure he almost broke through 2 levels in a single fight.
Idk might just be complaining. Try it yourselves

isn't it explained that it is because he is assimilating the powers of others when he is fighting and that if he starts training that is when his artifact essentially becomes useless?

So, MC is that type that follows the flow.
Looks like he don't even makes his own decisions. His mother told him to save the girl, so he makes it his goal.
His system tells him some foggy things 'you'll know if you'll know' and MC takes it without hesitation like 'meh, okay'.
Even his 'broken' condition was caused by some random man speaking nonsence to MC, wich he belived without any second of doubt.
Great. You choose your life based on one lie from stranger.
How about think for yourself just for a little?
He is also kinda naive and have huge tendency to overreact.
You know, like in cheap drama, falling on knees and screaming "Nooo!!!1!" to the rainy sky.

Oh, and ofc so much mystery around. Questions, secrets, conspiracy, ugh.
And not that type of mystery wich intriguing, but the one that makes you say 'oh, this again'.

Who think it's good idea to dump out all of this from the start?

I just can't like this novel 'cause of subjective reasons. My tolerance for this kind of MC and plot is somewhere below zero point.
    Mb it's good.
But for someones like me, beware.

Exact my thoughts , it was interesting at the start , but mc is just too much of a "puppet" having it's strings pulled by someone else.
I also don't really like how the system XP works , like who decides or how is it decided that a low level 1 gives 5 XP and a peak leave1 gives 30 XP , those are some crazy balance issues and it just makes it all seem pre-made event and not something that just happened.
I don't even want to talk about the "talent" issues , as it is will all "talent" focused novels , you can not quantify talent ,ok? And then to go ahead and also say " here eat this fruit because it will improve your innate talent" .. what?

The talent part from your comment doesn't work like that. Talent can be many things. It can range from your psyche (like how you view certain things) to your soul (your soul may have certain special aspects that help or detriment your cultivation path) to lastly various physiques (an affinity to an element , amiability to an energy , a bloodline , etc). Although talent can be many things it doesn't mean you can't quantify or increase it. Most times the quantification doesn't in the form of a number but rather as how far you can go in a certain field. To increase your talent you only need to increase an aspect of it like your physique , acquite another affinity , increase your comprehension ability , etc.

Overreact? on what? 1. his father is dead. 2. his mother died in front of him.
      4. his goals and dreams are washed away by despair that he will never awaken, as he is already old enough to marry yet he hasn't awakened yet.
follows the flow? yes, he does, as he should. he has just awakened, he doesn't know jack shit about the real cruel world out there, so he listens to those who have endured the cruelty of the evolved world. I get it, you don't like these kinds of MCs, however, you should acknowledge the fact that, for the reasons listed above, a kid who doesn't "overreact", a.k.a breakdown is either a sociopath/psychopath or is unrealistic.

MC is high profile attracting foes without much difficulty and system makes it more easy.
MC gets beaten up every time facing enemies with higher level.
