This novel is top tier. I've read up to chapter 100, and if you ignore the fact that the author loves describing the same people over and over , it's one of my favorites that's dropped recently

Written Beside the Enchanted Lotus Pavilion

Amidst swirling clouds and drifting petals, this daoist takes up the humble task of reviewing the tome Borrowed Sword by the venerable “Kindergarten Top Dog” (Chinese name of the author) Having traversed up to Chapter 171, one finds oneself pondering as a leaf tossed upon the currents of fate: Is this scroll worth inscribing upon my heart, or best left unread, letting the days flow effortlessly as water?

Essence and Flow

- Genre: Cultivation fantasy, laced with strands of illusion and game-spirits....neither wholly mundane nor untouched by the immortal path.
- The author’s manner is familiar, weaving systems and cultivation with threads of playful strategy, as the old masters might conceal heaven’s secrets in a gourd under their sleeves.
- The tale continues, like the river seeking the sea, yet not exhausting its depths. Chapter 171 brings us before “Master of Profound and Yellow, Supreme Realm”....the threshold where strength strives to pierce heaven itself.

Harmonies – Strengths

- The root of its allure lies in a classic hook: a soul, once a game companion upon the dusty road, is now bound within the tapestry as a Non-Player Character, neither guest nor host in the world’s grand illusion.
- Early chapters resemble a spring well, bubbling steady growth...sect rivalries, border crossings, and mounting stakes. Through every trial, thunder and clouds gather, foreshadowing greater storms to come.
- Sword arts are written with cleverness: Borrowed blades lend power, but even this power sways with risk. As in Dao, gain and loss, fortune and calamity, are ever entwined. The sword agency concept breathes liveliness into the cultivation, sharpening the suspense as blades may depart at a whim.
- The multitude of readers forms a forest of praises. Reputation flourishes, the author’s earlier works like fallen petals nurturing trust anew, bringing momentum as chapters accumulate endlessly upon the morning dew.

Discords – Weaknesses

- True character, however, is not yet refined in the furnace. Power, sects, and contests wax strong, but the feelings within...grief, longing, joy...remain almost translucent, thin as mist before dawn. One hopes for deeper reservoirs as the narrative deepens.
- There stirs the danger of unchecked ascent: if every realm reached lacks commensurate struggle, suspense melts away like frost beneath the midday sun, leaving only the husk of repetitive battles.
- The roots of worldbuilding...origins of swords, secrets of lands...are presently but shadows at the edge of vision. Should these mysteries remain veiled too long, readers may question their substance.
- Thus, the cycles...rise, clash, advance, new region...may risk dullness unless the author plants fresh seeds of morality, spirit, or change.

The Path You Tread

- To open Borrowed Sword is to join a journey not unlike stirring from meditation.....first, the world is small and inviting; with each breath, the horizons expand. Those who savor progression, rivalry, and the art of swordsmanship shall no doubt find their spiritual energy flourishing as they read.
- Emotional resonance arrives slowly, like the fragrance of tea steeped over hours. The reader may linger for the contests and power, more than for changes of heart or philosophy. The climb is long; rewards are many. Yet, only patience and faith may bring deeper fulfillment as the story matures.

Judgment from the Lotus Pavilion

On the scale of jade and mist, this tale earns a worthy 7.8 to 8.0 for those who cherish the cultivation road. It surpasses common scrolls by virtue of its author’s deft hand, potent setup, and the rhythmic rise of destiny. Should character and lore deepen like a moonlit pool, many hearts may yet be won to its cause. For now, let the curious cultivator proceed with serenity, content to savor each contest and unravel each mystery as the Dao unfolds.

I dont know how many more times the author wants to describe the heroines Body proportions...

Look kinda funny

A solid 3.9 out of 5. Not poison, not wine, just regular beer.

The author writes well, understands what the reader wants, and delivers little by little. Clearly not a beginner, and the foundation is fairly stable.

After the sect entrance arc, things get very interesting.

There is romance, no sign of a harem, and the relationships and interactions between characters are vivid and well thought out. NPC reactions feel lively and engaging.

The MC understands his weaknesses and tries to manipulate the FMC to cover himself, while at the same time attempting to enjoy part of the FMC’s “luck.”

Feelings between the characters develop slowly—by chapter 100 they haven’t even kissed yet, but they’ve gone through a ton of events together.

I don’t know about the whole world, but the locations where the plot takes place are decently fleshed out. Still, it feels like between point “my home” and “the library” there’s nothing, just moving from point A to point B, and in most cases instantly.

On the one hand, it's not bad, but on the other hand, there's not enough chapter, and I didn't even have to get a toothpick.
