【A new work from the author of 'The Author's POV'!】

I hate horror.

From the skittering sounds of footsteps racing behind me, to the soft yet unnervingly cold whispers curling around my ears...

All of it. I hate it.

So much so that I start puking whenever I reach a certain threshold.

And yet, I am a Horror Game Developer.

A crappy one at that.

So, given my lack of ability, I decided to quit.

And yet...

[Congratulations, you've been selected for the Horror Game Developer System!]

Nope, I don't want it.

Let me quit.

※ Note : Your world might experience some changes. But don't worry! It's part of the game!

***

This is a story about a game developer who hates horror, but has no choice but to develop games scary enough to traumatize people.

You want to curse me for making you piss your pants?

If that's the case, who do I curse?

***

An SCP inspired story with its own twist! Collapse

Sometimes I feel like the author is trying way too hard to make the protagonist look “cool” in the eyes of others, and it just comes across as forced. This is something I already noticed a long time ago in Advent of the Three Calamities, and it seems to continue in this work as well.

The whole “misunderstanding makes the protagonist seem impressive” trope isn’t exactly new, but the problem is that the author isn’t skilled enough to weave it naturally into the story. In contrast, the author’s first work, The Author’s POV, handled this trope quite well. There, the protagonist is constantly underestimated by those around him, while only a few select characters know that he’s actually resourceful and capable—similar to the main character in The Novel’s Extra.

That subtle handling is something I don’t feel in the other two works. I think the biggest issue lies in the protagonist’s personality and the setup of the story. Here, the author tries to make characters who are supposed to be ordinary (at least from the perspective of those around them, since they’re pretending to be “normal”) look cold, aloof, and overwhelmingly cool in almost every interaction. It honestly feels cringe-inducing. Every time I read those scenes, I can’t help but wonder if the author is suffering from a case of chuunibyou.

Now, there’s nothing inherently wrong with comedic misunderstanding tropes like the famous “Sasuga Ainz-sama” moments—but the problem is that this author simply doesn’t execute them well. The misunderstandings feel inconsistent with both the world-building and the protagonist’s personality, as if he suddenly gained a “poker face” skill and an “auto farm aura” out of nowhere. Even using illness as a convenient excuse to justify these contrived scenarios feels weak. If only the protagonist appeared “special” in the eyes of a few important characters, like in The Author’s POV, it would have worked much better.

That said, this work isn’t as bad as the author’s previous one (which was both overly sentimental and painfully forced). It’s still decent enough to pass the time—if you can stomach the chuunibyou-like moments.

As for the horror aspect… well, it has tension, sure, but it’s not actually scary. I was a little disappointed by that, since I was hoping it could deliver the kind of chilling atmosphere found in My House of Horrors.

You serious? Advent is literally the authors' best work by miles. Tapov is like the weakest one by far

Other people having different opinions is not something that determines if someone’s points are valid. If this is how most of these f#cking reader’s brains work no wonder bad to mediocre writing gets so popular.

Naaah. It was some legitemately incredibly dumb stuff. Remembered seeing it when reading the comments at start and ppl clowning u for it. I’m pretty sure it’s in the first 10 chaps.

Edit : found them. It’s a bit later, and it’s… dumber than I remember.
In short, you’re the idiot that didn’t think a laptop with 13% could last an hour in a world where floating islands and VR tech exists 🤣🤣🤣. Let alone future stuff, even modern laptops can last an hour and more.
Fu#king, even the latest MacBook pro lasts 22 hours on 100%.
The next chapter is even worse. Cmon… I f#cking knew it that I remembered you. No shit I couldn’t forget lmaooo

No, it's like you can feel it from the earlier chapters coming but you only get it at chapter 170ish something like that...
And, the guy is literally going to die in a month and he's not preparing anything, he's literally dealing with the strongest anomaly so far and he's completely ignoring it, the other times? Yes he did succeed because you exploited his weakness and everything but really? This time you are challenging him to a 1v1, why are you not saving your system coins, trying to search for items to help you or anything really. The way the author is completely ignoring it makes me think that the way MC is going through everything is literally plot armour keeping him from dying and that's a huge turn off for me... I might as well go watch some retarded hero fighting a demon king with his holy sword or whatever since what's the difference? Both are relying on plot armour anyway

      You’re missing the point entirely.
He’s not ignoring the issue. he never has. He also has 3 months, not 1. At chapter 173, probably 2 months.

Your so-called “saving point” idea doesn’t make sense. He’s not hoarding points just to sit on them; he’s using points to earn more points. That’s literally how progression works in games.

He doesn’t have every option available right now. So instead, he’s focusing on what is within his control to keep moving forward. What do you expect him to do, just stockpile points and stay stuck in the same place?

He is searching for items. He’s already explained that he can’t find any, which is why he’s trying to push into the higher tiers. That’s where the chance to unlock those items actually exists.

And let’s not forget, the conductor isn’t the only problem he has to deal with.

He's also purposely taking quests so that he can better handle the situation.

You’re being short-sighted here. You want him to tunnel vision on a single obstacle, but he’s juggling ten at once. He’s making progress strategically, not neglecting the bigger picture.

Dude every story point has been ignored or put on the back burner for random shit when the dude’s f#cking life was literally on the line. The writer just doesn’t f#cking know how to continue the story without some form of dues ex machina.

Hello, this was an amazing read, I've reached chapter 173, and at that point the novel became a bit forced, it was amazing from start till chapter 170~, then, and let me clarify this is my personal opinion, I felt the novel became, slow, sluggish and a bit repetitive, a bit forced if I may say

So uh, no, i dont think so. I dont think theres romance at all. Period. Let's just say that the mood does not get suitable for romance in the later chapters. i dunno how to do spoiler tags so ill just leave it at that.
Edit: so theres the romance tag but there is zero bits of romance in the 272 chapters that are out so far

Never been scare to horror and it's my first time reading one.

so far really loving the story. the MC is smarter than me that's for sure.

imagining being in those situations I would've died in minutes 🥲

10/10 so far for me I might explore other horror genre to read but I think that won't happen as long as I wait for this Novel for new chapter.
