After crossing over into the game world he had played before, Su Nan finds himself as a nobleman who has lost his title. At this time, the continent is still a barren wasteland of elements; powerful wizards abandoned this world a thousand years ago to explore the multiverse, becoming little more than elusive legends.

Only Su Nan knows that, a thousand years later, the elements will revive, the wizards will return, and the continent is about to enter a prosperous era of magic.

So, his task is quite simple: work hard to cultivate and become a wizard, surviving until the age of wizards arrives!

“Resource-poor?”

“There’s nothing for it; I’ll just have to synthesize everything myself.”

Su Nan opens the synthesis cube. This is the story of a traveler with a player panel and a synthesis cube, leveraging a slight advantage of foresight to make a name for himself in a foreign world. Collapse

Finished the novel in MTL at Chapter 332. I made a detailed review below of the whole novel at MTL chapter 325 since I originally thought was somewhere near the beginning of the late stage of the novel, but guess not.

I'll put my thoughts on specific things that happen in spoilers, but leave the last summary as is.

The final author note basically says that he apologises for ending it so suddenly, he didnt have any idea how to write about plane wars and so just rushed through them and finished the book. He also mentions he started writing another book about wizards but got bored and so scrapped it and will instead do a completely different topic.

This is MTL translation of part of the final authors note:
To be honest, the results are better than I expected when I started writing the book, but after finishing the whole book, I am not very satisfied with it.

It was okay in the first and middle parts, but it got worse and worse as it went on.

The reasons are, one, my writing skills are not good enough to write what is in my mind, and the other is that I have no experience and have never written a plot about plane war.

Honestly, overall it was a good novel, especially in the early and middle stages, as the author said. Imo even the later stages were good too, though definetly started to speed up quite a bit. It was only suddenly in the last 10/15 chapters where things suddenly sped up to an insane degree and ended in a very open ended way. But most novels tend to have rushed or unsatisfying endings, so its not a massive surprise. At the very least the ending wasnt terrible and didnt ruin the story before it like I've seen some other novels do.

Given it is only near the end where the rushing happens, i would still recommend you give this a try - either through MTL or as more chapters release here.

Am up to date on the MTL translation (325) and its honestly pretty good tbh. The translation quality is pretty similar to this one already on here, so there's no real issues going straight from reading all available chapters here to continuing via MTL like I did.

The setting is a fairly common one when it comes to Knights/Wizards/God's etc. But unlike some other ones where the MC goes down both Knight and Wizard paths, this one focuses solely on the Wizard path and uses potions and stuff to strengthen his body only when necessary, but the knight/body stuff becomes irrelevant to him once he becomes a proper Wizard.

In terms of the main story. He gets transmigrated into a game he played. He played during V2 where there were Wizards everywhere and the plane was open, but gets transmigrated into V1 when the plane is still locked down, and the environment is very difficult for Wizards etc. He doesn't have tons of specific future events to rely on, just some general useful knowledge and some rough ideas about key events that occur, but not what specific date they happen. There doesn't seem to be any other players or whatever either.

His main cheat is the Synthesis Cube, but he technically also has a System, but it is extremely limited and is basically just a Status screen that is very rarely used. The "System" just lists his stats, skills and magic spells. The main useful aspect from that is the ability for him to track his progress and guarantees progress for every time he practices, which definitely helps speed things up somewhat compared to others, but it's not to an insane degree - some skills, especially more complex ones, still take years for him, but just less time than others. As the story goes on, those aspects become less and less used, as the spells and stuff become less relevant compared to comprehending Laws and the like.

The main thing he uses throughout is the Synthesis Cube. It not only lets him combine multiple things together to synthesise a higher quality version, but it also enhances them and removes and side effects or negatives too. It is used a lot more in the early part, when the plane is still locked off from the others, since he doesn't have the ability to purchase any goods from elsewhere, but it is still used later on a lot too, just mostly in the background. It is particularly useful to help enhance things to be much stronger than they normally would, or to synthesise items he doesn't have the recipe for by crafting weaker versions, but mostly at an increased cost. As his organisation grows stronger and richer over time, he is able to afford the recipes or stuff to directly craft stronger things, which is mostly worth it in terms of cost and time, but it is still the main help for him to grow.

Some other big differences from other Wizard novels here is that the MC isn't some emotionless or evil person. He will not hesitate to kill enemies or whatever as necessary, but he doesn't do anything needlessly ruthless or emotionless just because. He doesn't see normal people or those weaker than him as useless or expendable, and even makes sure wherever possible in Wars or battles to minimise proper casualties as much as possible by sending out his golems/puppets/etc. as the main part.

That leads into another big difference. MC here actually creates and is the leader of his own Wizard organisation, rather than just joining another one. He is partners with another one, once the plane opens up, but the is mainly for protection from other bigger enemies and as a source to buy tons of supplies from. He, in fairness, is very hands off from things, especially once he gets a loyal and experienced subordinate/partner to run things, but he is constantly synthesising things in the background for them and his progress benefits them as a whole as well - whenever he upgrades his Wizard Tower or the like, for example, it allows others within his organisations to spend contribution points to stay in the cultivation rooms inside it which get a higher amount of energy as it is upgraded further etc. Due to his Synthesis Cube as well, he can provide TONS of items that help other Wizards advance further and faster. It is said that there are very few Wizard organisations who are as generous to their members as MCs is.

Overall its definitely good and would reccomend reading it, either through the updates here or via MTL. For MTL I just searched for this novel title on novelcool.

Ahh apologies. There were 2 novels I were reading on novelcool at the time and I accidently used the chapter number for the other one.

I've updated my comment with the correct number. Imo if you can deal with wonky mtl, then it's not a bad idea to just look up the chapters in the Chinese Source via the link section here on ranobes. Then just translate the entire page - personally I found Google Chrome gives the most readable translations doing that, which is a shame since that's not my main browser anymore, so it's not as useful for me.

Does he value his people? When you read phrases like "the losses of the air fleet were 80%, but it doesn't matter" or when he puts living knights against golems, although he himself has more golems than the enemy, it is somehow difficult to believe this statement.

He 100% values his people way more than others. It isn't until the organisation becomes MUCH stronger that he even allows the actual members to take part in any risky combat/wars.

The vast majority of damages sustained by his organisation are purely golems and artificial constructs etc.

But at a certain point it grows big enough that there isn't as much a need to be so protective of all his members - though that doesnt mean he stops providing them with the most beneficial environment. They can easily earn contribution points to exchange for TONS of life saving treasures that he creates and makes available.

Obviously as time goes on there are eventually deaths of some members, but they are never a huge number.

The story is solid (4/5), set in a typical world where wizards are superior to knights. However, the inconsistency in the translation severely detracts from it. The mix of Western and Chinese terms is particularly confusing.

after reading till latest chapter i can safely say that the story has similarities with the novel named "witch: accumulate xp through knight breathing" chapter 1-5 is interesting but after knowing the similarities the story become flat to me there is also the inconsistency of name in the translation

well it's still on 70 chap so maybe the story will change.
