Hunter Academy: Revenge of the Weakest by Darkness_Enjoyer

Hello, chapter 117 now so I think I will write something.

The whole story resolves around a young boy that got transmigrated to world from the game he was playing as a second rate villan. Using knowledge from game and influenced by experience of game character he took the body from said villan and he try to eradicate demons. It's not unique but at least it's consistent.

MC is not op from the start but he is still able to get out victorious from every situation. The only issue is with his character because it's typical emo kid that saw lot's of shit and aside from him being and orphan who lost his family author add new things to put on his shoulders like bullying, framing him into shady things etc. But I am not here to judge based on my personal taste :x His character is more villan like with him being cold, ruthless but also fair to others and pretty inteligent using game knowledge to his advantage but he still have to follow some rules to get more power like normal training (mana can be good example when he have to learn how to use it properly). His drive to get revenge is also pretty high but we also see how he slowly change and how he begin to be more open to people so only time will tell.

World background is overall good 3.5/5. It's not earth but rather earth-like planet with dungeons and presence of mana. We don't have much information about it but it's mentioned when needed and whole background is pretty consistent too.

Side characters are the best thing that you can find here because I think that they are written good. We can see difference in attitude and looks. Which is the achilles heel of lots of novels. There are some chances for possible romance options in future so it's good that author don't put that down our throat forcefuly from the very beggining.

From the things that can be annoying or just bad first is writing style. Aside from small mistakes in spelling or wrong character pronouns some of the chapters can be really boring especially when author try to give us some knowledge about world mechanics like 2 chapter about mana alone or explaining the fighting styles etc. Fights can also be little bit boring and prolonged. Author use things like "CATCHAW, PAT, PEW, TAP" or other kind of things to imitate sounds of battle all the time every few sentences. It's so much of them that you can make a whole chapter from them alone and I never saw so many of them in any novel.

Second thing is retrospections. I mean talking about one event from two different perspectives. It's good if used correctly but too much is not good. One time author wrote a chapter from MC perspective and another chapter about same thing from other person perspective which can be sum up in few sentences because it didn't bring much to the table... so yeah too much is too much. I wish it could be less of such things.

Overal novel is good 3 or even 3,5 if he work on some aspects. We also can't forget about canon things typical for this kind of novels so there can be some things that can be liked or disliked based on personal taste like MC being an introverted quiet kid with bad past or some typical obstacles thrown at him. I personaly had some struggle with reading some parts because it was plain boring like fights or knowledge about fight mechanics. It's not a novel with trashy MC and trashy side characters at least. You can try if you don't have anything else to read.
