Overall pretty decent, absolute garbage beginning and a good bit streched, but overall still good.
There might be somethings you can see as nationalism(just wanted to bring that up since somepeople realy hate it, even in minor forms), its mostly hidden(exept at the beginning i guess) But it isnt anywhere on the level of a deal breaker for me.
Still it is very much in its core a standard cultvation novel.

I’m caught up (1226) and I’m reading the mtl right now and I gotta say this is one of the best cultivation novels on this site in my opinion. I’ll give it at least 9/10. I’ll explain the pros and cons of this novel:
Pros:
- Good mc in my opinion. He is very petty and not the type to take a loss sitting down. While some people like lowkey mc’s this mc isn’t like that. He can hide trump cards but he usually always uses them. The mc is shameless, likes scheming, getting revenge, and spending time with his close ones. Only thing I’m sad about is that he doesn’t really do much in his free time other than increase his strength in some way
- Good cultivation system. It’s unique, not the usual qi refining, foundation building, golden core cultivation system. This is a completely different style and makes sense so far.
- ok world building. While I don’t have a map of the world he’s in since the mc doesn’t travel a lot, we at least have a basic idea.
- good characters. This is one of my favorite parts of the novel as the characters aren’t completely 2d. I really find some characters lovable, mysterious, and funny, including many higher ups. Someone may seem like an asshole, but they’re actually not, or someone may seem like a dumbass, but they’re actually not. Plus there are some actually intelligent characters. While there arent any extremely intelligent characters, there are many smart characters who like scheming
- good cheat for the mc. The mc’s cheat is introduced early on and while it is definitely very strong, it is still within the realm of possibility. It’s better than those random system novels as this cheat sticks to its purpose, and the mc can unlock more of it as he grows stronger. I have a little guess based on some clues on what the cheat comes from,
I have some more pros but I’ll just move onto the cons.
- sometimes when characters talk (mostly the mc) they yap for a long time and say too much. I don’t mind it myself but sometimes I find myself skimming it when this happens.
- the beginning arc is a little too long and because of that some people are saying this novel is too slow. I personally liked the first arc but if you can get to the academy arc it only gets better from then on, meaning it just keeps getting better.
- some people may not find this a con but the mc sometimes gets too murderous that it seems excessive. For example in a fight where he doesn’t need to kill he would still try to kill. It doesn’t always happen but everyone in the novel know the mc is a murderous person. He obviously doesn’t exterminate clans or large groups of weak people, only the people who can fight him. I don’t mind it much but maybe someone else would or maybe someone would like that
- there are also many moments I’m disappointed in the higher ups but thankfully the mc is similar to me so if he ever feels he’s wronged, he is definitely the type to do something about it
