In the last moments before his death, he watches as everyone he trusts turns on him for the sake of treasure, and his disillusioned spirit vows revenge.

So MC lives for 108,000 years before deciding to reincarnate in order to become stronger. In those 108,000 years, he lived the life he wanted. He took in a bunch of disciples, all of whom he liked and who seemed to like him. None of them treated him badly in any way.

Then he died, and for some reason, he didn't leave any of his cool loot to his disciples. He had basically all the good shit in the entire world, so, as literally anyone would expect except apparently braindead MC, his disciples fought over that wealth.

MC sees that as the most extreme betrayal somehow. He vows to come back stronger than ever and kill all of his unfilial disciples, who, again, treated him with nothing but respect while he was alive.

    What a dick.

The rest of the story is just as dumb, plus it's filled with tons of all of the worst tropes.

Basically everyone he meets is an arrogant young master, including the old people. Everyone treats their own lives like grass and offend whoever they can for no reason. Everybody hates MC, also for no reason. People have misunderstandings about MC, which he will never correct, even if all he has to do is say a few words like "my realm's actually [x], not [y]," all for a seemingly infinite number of terrible faceslapping/shocking the crowd scenes. Evil people can commit any number of atrocities with no consequences, but good people immediately suffer if they do good. The list of shitty tropes keeps going.

But I'm on chapter 328, and I'm still not dropping this trash. Don't get me wrong, it really is the worst sort of garbage. It's just part of that 1% of novels that actually have a good translation, so I keep reading just for that. If this was MTL dogshit published by Webnovel, I'd have dropped it by chapter 10.

I'm on chapter 1036 now. Some updates.

The author has some weird obsession with kneeling. Just about every conflict has MC forcing people to kneel or people trying to force MC to kneel. I think there's more kneeling nonsense in this than in any 20 other novels combined. Probably 50+ people have had their kneecaps exploded or their bones turned to powder to force them to kneel so far.

MC's friends and family get kidnapped/trapped constantly. I think it's happened 10+ times so far. As you would expect, they're almost always saved at the last second before they'd die or get raped.

The "shock the crowd" scenes have gotten even more common and ridiculous. Some chapters are at least 70% crowd reactions to whatever MC is doing. Even if he's just petting a cat (this is actually from the story), you'll still have three different people's perspectives on how shocked and confused they are about why the cat is letting MC pet it.

Still reading, but holy f#ck is this a fat pile of trash.

Finally dropped this shit at 1180.

So, all the neat descriptions of characters and events in the early chapters? Ignore it. The author throws out new plots that completely contradict them later. Three examples, with HUGE spoilers, DO NOT read them if you plan to read this shit novel:

This novel is also an extreme example of the shitty Chinese trope "those who aren't of our race must think different from us." Almost every single person from other worlds is outrageously, over-the-top maliciously evil. When I finally dropped this, the last thing I read was some random guy extracting the souls of people from MC's world in order to catch fish with them. This is not an outlier, as all of them take great delight in torturing and killing everyone from MC's world as much as possible.

MC is a callous and stupid piece of shit. He'll be attacked by two people sending massive swarms of flying murder ants after him, who have already murdered countless people from his world, and say "Answer my question, and I can let you live." He does this all the time, letting super-Hitlers with massive grudges against him go free because he apparently doesn't give a f#ck about whoever they'll rape/kill/torture in the future.

I'll note at this point that MC's friends and family have been attacked 12+ times so far in order to get at him (don't worry, none ever die because that would make MC sad). Could these super-Hitlers possibly go after them? Obviously, but MC, history's greatest genius, has a brain made of rotten bricks.

The author has a handful of tropes they just keep repeating.

        1) MC's friends and family get captured in order to piss off MC and make him surrender/become a slave/commit suicide, so he has to run off and save everyone.

        2) People assume MC is far weaker than he is, then try to bully/protect/kill him, only to be killed/chased away/have their faces slapped. Sometimes excuses are given for why people think MC is weak even when they should know better. Usually they aren't. Note that people will NEVER send very strong opponents to kill MC. It'll always be opponents he can defeat. Don't worry, they'll send the stronger ones after MC levels up so he harvest them as well.

        3) MC conveniently stumbles upon something happening just as he reaches a location. This mother f#cker can leave a place for 36,000 years, but still manage to return at the very last second before [bad thing x] happens so he can save his old friend/lover/disciple. I swear, every time MC travels somewhere, something crazy is going down at some point in his trip so he can jump in and save people the moment before they die. Truly a ridiculous amount of last second saves in this one.

        4) The kneeling and other "shaming" bullshit is insane. A few chapters before I quit, MC literally made some guy roll away. There were also more exploded kneecaps. This author HAS to have a kneeling or humiliation fetish.

I could poop out more about this shit novel, but nobody's reading this far anyway and I've already wasted too much time on this novel as it is.

Basic plot: 4.5 - I f#cking love reincarnation nonsense, which is why I ended up choking myself rotten on this festering pile of shit for so long.

Characters - 4.5 - Fu#k, now that I'm rating this shit, so much of the novel was SO GOOD. I love the characters, even if most aren't fleshed out or get set aside and forgotten pretty quick.

Storytelling: 1.5 - I covered the stuff I didn't like or found problematic earlier. Most of the basic elements are fine. The biggest problem is that it all keeps repeating. By chapter 100, you've seen everything the author is capable of writing. It's only repeats from then on. It also loses points for later events contradicting earlier events.

Translation: 5 - Excellent translation. I wish we had more like this.

Overall, it's a great novel except for a few bits that are like nails driven through my eyeballs. Maybe you like eyeball nails?

Final verdict: Give it a shot. Maybe you won't mind the stuff I hate.

Tbh, I dunno if you’re a masochist… All of these terrible tropes are pretty much for par in Chinese novels. What I don’t understand is how you managed to get through 1000 chapters of this… Based on your first comment, if it were me, I’d have noped out in the first 10 / 20 chapters.

I didn't share some of your concerns about the novel, the kneeling and faceslaps are very common in the genre. What I found unusual about the MC is how "chill" he is. He is not very hot tempered at all, a person of few words and quiet dignity. Someone who'd prefer to just sit in his rocking chair and stare at the sky rather than do most anything else. He just doesn't feel the need to provide information about himself, correct others, and that sort of thing. Remember, he was once one of the most powerful beings in existence and very old.

What I didn't like about the novel is something common to the genre - abandonment of his harem for hundreds/thousands of years just to find them waiting patiently for his return. Come on... this old man was a Marine and 95% of wives/girlfriends can't go a few months into a deployment without cheating, or even boot camp. Every cultivation novel does it - I Shall Seal the Heavens, martial world, Swallowed Star, you name it. (exception pocket hunting dimension where MC forms a team with his harem, but that's LitRPG/xuanhuan ) I think it is unrealistic writing to say the least.

i don't get the level of confidence man, it's in the synopsis itself that it was his intention. And apparently no one realize that it was a scheme!! like are people really that naive and then calling the mc braindead and defending the disciples like wtf! eyetwit

#panic# thanks you, sorry to be naggy like that, only two chapters remained that are still repeated. So it's like that 1208>1209>1208>1209>1210. Apart that it's all fixed. Thanks again.

This is one of the better cultivation novels out there I will judge this novel by five criteria story development writing quality character design and world buidling
    Story Development
The story of this novel is quite good unlike other novels there are no arrogant young masters at every corner The main story in the earlier parts of the novel is quite basic but starting from like chapter 1000 a bit of mystery about the main character starts coming into play 3.5 stars
    Writing Quality
Since this is a translated novel and not a original so I will judge it by translation quality. The translation quality is very good.Furthermore the translator leaves notes explaining the very frequent Chinese poetry references 4.5 stars
    Character Design
This is probably the best part of this novel. The main character actually feels like a old monster who has lived for thousands of years Just like many characters in the novel have frequently mentioned,he has the bearing of a fallen immortal Unlike others mcs who are hot-headed lustful and just plain arrogant ,Su Yi is the exact opposite of that.
Other than the main character the characters are also pretty good although some arrogant young masters do appear they are not annoying and are handled perfectly by the mc some even have a change of heart and decide to follow the mc 4.5 stars
    World Building
This is also quite basic although it's not bad it's not good either 3.5 stars

All in all I give this novel a solid a solid 4 stars
