      Ive read a dozen pokemon fanfic and honestly Im starting to like poke fanfic made by chinese authors. Although theres too much nationalism in this novel, there are others too where it's setting is in a pokemon world. But what makes them good is that they wont destroy your childhood that much. Survival of the fittest happens and thats nature but I hate most fanfic novels made by mostly not asians i think. They focus too much on the dark side. Its kinda forced where mc gets pitted like he's either the miserable mc or the psychopath mc. Honestly theres too much of them in either fanfic net or webnovel site. I need some light hearted ones but still on the path of a trainer like pokemon modifier. Any recommendation?

        "Borne of Caution", so far the best pokémon fanfic I've read, is written by a non-Asian, but it's light without the dark side, and has a very good development, I must say it surpasses even the original series

          I like borne of caution too but atm it's too mushy. Mc treats his ninetales like his sweetheart or lover or something near that. The conversation gives me goosebumps, just goes to show MC has really severe mental illness from suffering that trauma. I dont think its light without darkness though. Honestly its not really light hearted because author shows the seriousness of the setting, there are no comedy involve. Its the calm before the storm honestly. I even think the gore or bloody fights will appear soon though because Maxie from the latest chapter gives the killer vibes. I like trainer-pokemon interactions but MC is just too much.

              I recommend you 'When is a spoon a sword'. Hope you enjoy it because I did. It's light hearted, and his starter is the twist. It focuses a lot on training too.

                  Its difficult to find fanfics like that. When you try to find other fanfics, you get to find out that chinese authors (although makes their MCs a narcissist) they tend to make slice of life or slow life or wish fulfillment novel. While other fanfics written mostly by english natives or from west, the stories lean more in dark setting, or seriousness or realistic.

                  If I may, I'd also recommend Pokemon Trainer Vicky. Light hearted but pretty fun way to just enjoy what makes pokemon great and appealing, was on hiatus for a year, but seems to be getting updates again. The Natural was also good while it lasted (~1500 pages) but its officially dropped by the author sadly. And The Type Specialist. Probably my least favorite of what I consider "good" pokemon fics as its a little on the dull/mundane side, but the team is fairly unique and its competently written.
