Chapter 569: End of the battle, Tian Yuan

While the grand battle unfolded, a certain individual observed the sequence of events with a mixed look of indifference and profound confusion.

"What the hell is that power he is wielding?" The person speaking was none other than Tian Yuan.

He had arrived a few moments ago, or rather, he had been secretly observing the situation for quite a while. The ancestor who had broken through the Immortal Seed Realm with Grey’s help was, in reality, his clone.

He initially thought Grey had recognized him when he first called out, but much to his surprise, Grey merely wanted to test out a new technique, one that worked absolute wonders.

Tian Yuan even wondered whether Grey personally knew a Buddhist monk from a higher world to have comprehended this specific power so flawlessly. Inner demons were notoriously difficult to clear, after all.

But after that interaction, it was clear Grey did not sense his true identity, and they went straight to battle.

Tian Yuan tried to act as naturally as possible. But much to his surprise, the grand battle ended before it even truly started. And it all happened because of this tyrannical new power radiating from Grey.

"It cannot be... right?" Tian Yuan’s eyes widened in realization.

He did not immediately rush in to seize the Holy Corpse. By now, he knew the Nirvana state would be transferred over to the others as pure enlightenment. He was much more interested in seeing how Grey’s unique power would react to the Nirvana state itself.

He fully immersed his consciousness into the clone, silently waiting to see what Grey would do next.

"Well then, as promised, the Holy Corpse will be mine to take," Grey said as he turned to the gathered ancestors. "And in return, I will transmit the enlightenment of the Nirvana state to all of you at once."

Everyone nodded in agreement. No one minded this arrangement. This was the most satisfactory result for all parties involved.

Although they too secretly desired to get their hands on the "instant tenth rank" power, they were uncertain whether it would actually be a blessing or a curse. Immense, unearned power always came with a hefty price, after all.

Grey, someone possessing great wisdom and a flawless way of navigating complex situations, was the most suitable person to obtain the corpse. Hence, they supported his claim fully.

"Alright. Stay close to the corpse," Grey instructed. "I will link my consciousness with all of your seas of consciousness."

No one objected. They fully opened their minds and allowed Grey’s frequential energy to connect with them.

Once the neural network was established, Grey flew directly toward the colossal golden body.

The chanting radiating from the corpse grew louder and more complex with each passing moment. Once he was within range of the massive entity, he immediately unleashed his powers upon it.

Axiom energy poured out of him as he attempted to blanket the huge talisman resting over the Enlightened Body.

However, a heavy, suffocating suppression immediately pushed back.

The Holy Corpse was retaliating. This was the exact reason why the abyssal beings had not managed to seize control of the corpse yet.

It naturally possessed an extreme autonomous resistance. A significant amount of time had passed since this body appeared, and the abyssal beings had been trying their absolute best to refine the talisman, only for the corpse to heavily resist their corruptive energy.

’Or is it because Ji Gong intentionally designed it so the abyss could never get their hands on his corpse?’

From his conversations with the World Tree, Grey knew this monk absolutely despised the abyss. His hatred was so extreme that he even created a technique called the Devil Suppressing Mantra to heavily suppress abyssal entities. But the extent of power it could achieve was naturally limited. It worked well on beings of the same level, but Abyssal energy was a superior, combined force with a highly corrosive attribute. It could easily overwhelm most techniques if the opposing party unleashed it at full power.

Yet, this specific Buddhist technique was one of the very few that could hold its ground against the abyss.

In fact, if not for Grey continuously reviving the ancestors with [Ingel], they would have had an incredibly hard time winning the war against them.

The abyssal generals had depleted their boundless energy reserves to match their equally powerful eighth-ranking enemies and kill them, only for Grey to resurrect the fallen ancestors. The Myriad-Race Alliance essentially won a battle of attrition by completely emptying out the abyss’s energy reserves.

Since this battlefield was located far from any abyss-corrupted planet, the abyssal beings could not draw in ambient power to replenish themselves. Some tried using high-tier healing items, but even those were not endless. With Grey’s flawless revival mechanic, the alliance was always going to emerge victorious.

However, Grey swiftly shook those lingering thoughts away.

For now, it was time to focus entirely on the talisman.

Refining this ancient seal was turning out to be much harder than he initially anticipated. The suppression was incredibly heavy, and even with his Nexus Axiom energy, there was still a massive, unyielding resistance.

Grey’s expression turned sour.

The World Tree did mention there would be a massive amount of resistance, but he did not expect it to be this stubborn.

He drastically increased his energy output using his Nexus Overclock, but even with that amplified force, he still could not break through the talisman’s barrier.

Just then, Tian Yuan, acting through his clone, floated near Grey.

"Do not try to forcefully resist the talisman’s energy," he instructed calmly. "The more you try to beat the energy into submission, the more you make its resistance grow."

"Fellow Daoist. You need to make your energy flow in the exact same pattern as the talisman’s power."

Grey glanced at the older man in surprise.

His Chaos Lotus had unexpectedly triggered from this realization, confirming to Grey that what this man said was the absolute truth.

"Thank you, Elder," Grey spoke respectfully.
