Chapter 400

“It is said that this Giant Eye City was built by a senior who explored the Abyss. He killed a monster that emerged from the bottom of the Abyss, took its eyeball, embedded it in the cliff, and hollowed it out to build the city.”

“The giant eye can see into the extreme depths below, effectively monitoring the Abyss of Cangwu for any disturbances.”

The three slowly descended from the side of the Giant Eye City, their hearts filled with unspeakable shock.

“Just an eyeball, and it’s this big.”

“It’s unimaginable how big the monster that emerged from the depths of the Abyss of Cangwu was.”

The moment their bodies crossed the 80,000-zhang boundary, Xiao Heng felt his strength diminish by a few points.

“Even at the late stage of Qi Refinement, one cannot stand here.”

“Only with Foundation Establishment cultivation can one barely continue descending.”

The pressure from the Abyss was beginning to show.

“The third layer is not as vast as the Forest of Spirit Language, it’s just between 80,000-zhang deep to 100,000-zhang deep.”

“But the danger level is several times higher.”

As they continued to descend, from afar, Xiao Heng and the others heard rumbling sounds faintly coming from below.

Xiao Heng looked into the distance, in the vast white mist, there seemed to be two huge figures standing in mid-air, wielding sharp blades, battling each other.

“The third layer, the Puppet Gorge.”

“There are two giant stone puppets from ancient times fighting in this area.”

“The two puppets are in a strange state between reality and illusion. If you fly close to check them out, they appear like illusory figures, untouchable.”

“But their influence on the surrounding area is real.”

“The puppets are nearly 20,000 zhang tall, and their strength is said to be close to Dao Integration.”

“Even from a distance, you could be injured by the aftermath of their battle.”

Boom! Boom!

In the hazy white mist, the two stone puppet figures appeared and disappeared.

The three were stunned by this fantastic sight.

After a long time, Xiao Heng spoke, “Alright, let’s continue down.”

“It’s best to be cautious.”

During the descent, they had to constantly pay attention to the movements of the two giant stone puppets, avoiding possible energy impacts.

The strength of the strange creatures appearing in the thick fog was also becoming increasingly formidable.

Therefore, their progress was even slower.

It took them two whole days to reach the lower boundary of the Puppet Gorge.

“Ahead is the fourth layer.”

“The good news is, the Medicine King True Cauldron seems to be not far below.”

Xiao Heng once again manipulated the Small Medicine King Cauldron, sensing for a moment, then let out a sigh of relief.

“That being said, we can’t let our guard down.”

Zhang Haobo frowned slightly and transmitted his voice, “Alright, hurry up. I’m getting impatient to see that treasure.”

Su Xiaomei pursed her lips and entered the fourth layer first.

There was no foothold provided for cultivators between the third and fourth layers.

Only a bright red line carved into the cliff wall marked the boundary.

“The fourth layer, the Lost City.”

“Between 100,000-zhang to 130,000-zhang underground.”

After sensing his own condition, Xiao Heng frowned slightly.

Losing the equivalent of a Foundation Establishment early stage cultivator’s cultivation out of thin air was already having a noticeable impact on him.

He changed his flight direction, no longer going straight down.

Instead, he flew diagonally towards the center of the Lost City.

Countless building ruins floated in the air, scattered and dilapidated.

It was as if a cataclysmic disaster had struck, leaving behind fragments of ruined relics everywhere.

No remains, no leftover items.

Only the corpses of buildings lay quietly in this space, telling tales of their past encounters.

The surrounding area was eerily quiet.

The repetitive sight of ruins brought a sense of oppression.

Xiao Heng and the others had to cheer themselves up.

Because in the Lost City, not only were there unknown creatures made entirely of stone that could jump out and attack at any time, but there were also cultivators with ulterior motives hidden in the shadows, waiting to ambush them.

The existence of the Town-Immortality Force, along with the chaotic ruins, created the perfect hiding places for them.

If they endured until the stone beasts attacked and both sides were injured, then launched their own attack, their chances of success would increase significantly.

And below the Abyss, the phenomenon of a cultivator’s demise was difficult to manifest.

After achieving their goal, they could flee and disappear without a trace.

The number of cultivators who mysteriously disappeared in this Lost City was not small.

As Xiao Heng and the others delved deeper into the ruins, heading towards the location of the Medicine King True Cauldron, they encountered two waves of cultivator attacks, as expected.

But they were just petty thieves.

Su Xiaomei and Zhang Haobo had faced the siege of thousands of faceless blood-faced cultivators in the ruins of the Chaoyuan Sect, and they had managed to escape unscathed.

How could they possibly take these people seriously?

They easily killed these people without much effort.

After eliminating two groups and showcasing their strength, things finally calmed down.

“There seems to be a tail following us.” Zhang Haobo reminded them.

“I’ll go slaughter them.” Su Xiaomei’s eyebrows rose, a red light flashed in her eyes, and she was about to turn around and attack.

“Don’t! We’re here to find the Medicine King True Cauldron, not to kill people.” Xiao Heng quickly stopped her.

“Drawing attention is not good.”

“Just shake them off.”

With that, the three suddenly increased their speed.

They weaved left and right through the ruins.

It took them half a day to finally shake off all the pursuers.

“Go!”

Zhang Haobo pinched a hand seal, masking their auras.

Then, they headed straight for the Medicine King True Cauldron.

After flying for another half a day, they finally reached the sensed location.

“Huh?!”

Xiao Heng looked around in confusion, unable to see any sign of the Medicine King True Cauldron.

“This should be the right place.”

“Let’s split up and search.”

Su Xiaomei and Zhang Haobo nodded, then dispersed.

Not long after.

“Nothing?”

Xiao Heng furrowed his brows deeply.

“It shouldn’t be.”

Xiao Heng searched again, still to no avail.

Su Xiaomei took the Small Medicine King Cauldron out of her storage ring, held it in her hand, and sensed again.

But there was no change.

“What do we do?”

After several attempts without success, the three gathered back together to discuss.

“Something’s strange.”

“I feel like the Medicine King True Cauldron is here, but it’s nowhere to be seen.”

Xiao Heng looked around, his face full of confusion.

“Maybe it’s hidden.”

Zhang Haobo narrowed his eyes and said suddenly.

With that, he activated his spiritual energy and sent a spiritual blade towards the location where he sensed the Medicine King True Cauldron.

As if hitting something, the air distorted for a moment.

The spiritual blade disappeared without a sound.

Then, the fluctuating scene returned to normal.

“Wow! That’s really the case!”

Su Xiaomei clapped her hands excitedly.

She flew towards that abnormal point.

However, it was as if it was an illusion. She passed through it unimpeded.

Not believing it, Su Xiaomei tried several times, but the result was the same.

“It’s infuriating! What’s going on?!”

Xiao Heng was calmer, carefully touching the nonexistent barrier with his hand.

“The Small Medicine King Cauldron is the key to entering the Medicine King True Cauldron.”

Xiao Heng thought thoughtfully.

“This Small Medicine King Cauldron, it can hold people, right?”

He suddenly asked.

“The City of the Great Eye,” Xiao Heng murmured. “They say it was built by a cultivator of old who slew a monster that crawled up from the depths of the abyss. He gouged out its eye, embedded it in the cliff wall, and hollowed out the rock to build a city around it.”

“The eye itself can peer deep into the lower reaches of the abyss,” Zhang Haobo added. “It serves as a watchtower, guarding against any disturbance below.”

The three descended beside the immense city, their hearts filled with awe.

“To think that a single eye could be so vast,” Su Xiaomei whispered. “I can’t even imagine how colossal the beast must have been when it still lived.”

The moment they crossed the boundary of eighty thousand fathoms, Xiao Heng felt another wave of suppression press down upon him. “Even a late-stage Qi Refiner couldn’t survive here,” he said grimly. “Only those of Foundation Establishment strength or higher can continue downward.”

The pressure of the abyss had begun to show its true weight.

“The third layer isn’t as broad as the Forest of Whispering Spirits,” Zhang Haobo said, glancing at his jade slip. “It lies between eighty thousand and a hundred thousand fathoms — but its danger is several times greater.”

As they continued to descend, a distant rumble reached their ears, echoing faintly through the depths. Through the shifting white mists below, Xiao Heng could vaguely make out two enormous figures suspended in the air, their blades clashing with thunderous force.

“The third layer — the Puppet Gorge,” he said softly. “Two colossal stone puppets from the ancient era battle endlessly in this region. They exist in a strange state between reality and illusion. You can approach them, but never touch them. Yet their power is very real.”

“Their bodies stand nearly twenty thousand fathoms tall,” Zhang Haobo muttered, eyes wide. “And it’s said their strength once neared the Dao Integration realm. Even from afar, a single shockwave could destroy us.”

    Boom. Boom.

Through the haze, the shadows of the two stone giants loomed and faded, their movements slow yet devastating.

For a long while, the trio could do nothing but watch in silent awe.

At last Xiao Heng spoke. “Enough. Let’s move on. We must be cautious.”

As they continued downward, they had to watch the movements of the colossal puppets closely, evading the bursts of energy that rippled through the gorge. The strange creatures that lurked in the fog grew stronger, forcing them to slow their pace even further.

It took two full days before they reached the lower edge of the Puppet Gorge.

“Beyond this lies the fourth layer,” Xiao Heng said. “And the good news — the Cauldron of the Medicine King should be close by.”

He guided the small Cauldron of the Medicine King in his hand, sensing its faint resonance, then exhaled with relief.

“Even so,” Zhang Haobo said, frowning, “we must not lower our guard.”

“Alright, alright,” Su Xiaomei replied impatiently. “Let’s just go. I can’t wait to see that treasure.”

Between the third and fourth layers, there was no resting city — only a crimson line carved into the cliff, marking the boundary.

“The fourth layer — the Lost City of Illusion,” Xiao Heng said. “It spans from one hundred thousand to a hundred and thirty thousand fathoms.”

He checked his own condition and frowned slightly. The suppression had now stripped away power equal to an early Foundation Establishment cultivator’s. The effect could no longer be ignored.

They no longer descended straight downward but angled toward the heart of the Lost City.

All around them floated fragments of ruined buildings — broken towers, shattered walls, collapsed temples — drifting like corpses of a dead world. It was as if some cataclysmic force had annihilated all life, leaving only the wreckage of civilization suspended in silence.

There were no corpses, no relics, not even dust — only the remnants of structures, whispering wordless tales of their ruin.

    The quiet was suffocating.

The endless sameness of the ruins pressed heavily upon their minds. The three forced themselves to stay alert, for in this desolation, not only might stone-bodied monsters emerge from nowhere to attack, but treacherous cultivators could also be lying in wait.

The suppression of immortal power, coupled with the chaotic terrain, made the Lost City a perfect place for ambush.

If one struck while others battled the stone beasts, success would come easily — and in this abyss, even a cultivator’s death left no trace.

Many who had entered the Lost City had simply vanished without a sound.

As Xiao Heng and his companions advanced toward the place where the Cauldron of the Medicine King was said to lie, they were ambushed twice by hidden cultivators.

But those attackers were nothing more than petty thieves.

Su Xiaomei and Zhang Haobo had once survived the siege of ten thousand faceless blood-masked cultivators within the ruins of the Chaoyuan Sect. How could such rabble pose a threat to them now?

With little effort, the three struck their enemies down.

After revealing their strength and annihilating two bands of foes, the surroundings grew quiet again.

“There’s a tail following us,” Zhang Haobo warned.

“I’ll go cut them down,” Su Xiaomei said coldly, eyes flashing red as she turned.

“Don’t,” Xiao Heng stopped her at once. “We’re here for the Cauldron, not for killing. Drawing attention will do us no good. Just lose them.”

The three quickened their pace, weaving through the ruins in a twisting path.

After half a day, they finally shook their pursuers.

    “Go.”

Zhang Haobo formed a hand seal, concealing their presence, and they flew straight toward the sensed location of the Cauldron.

    After several hours, they arrived.

“Hmm?” Xiao Heng looked around in confusion. There was nothing there — only empty air.

“It should be right here,” he said. “Let’s split up and search.”

Su Xiaomei and Zhang Haobo nodded and began to comb through the area.

But after a long while, they reconvened, all frowning.

    “Nothing,” Su Xiaomei said.

“It shouldn’t be like this,” Xiao Heng muttered, refusing to give up. He searched again, but still found nothing.

Su Xiaomei took out the small Cauldron of the Medicine King from her storage ring, holding it in her hands as she tried to sense again — yet the result did not change.

“What now?” she asked, irritation in her tone.

They gathered once more, each puzzled.

“It’s strange,” Xiao Heng said. “The resonance is clear — the Cauldron should be right here, yet it’s nowhere to be seen.”

“Maybe it’s hidden,” Zhang Haobo said, eyes narrowing.

He raised his hand and sent a blade of spiritual light toward the spot indicated by the resonance.

The air rippled faintly, as though struck by something unseen. The spiritual blade vanished silently into the distortion, and the space returned to stillness.

“Ha! So it *is* hidden!” Su Xiaomei clapped her hands, excitement brightening her face. She flew toward the strange point — and passed straight through it as though nothing were there.

Frowning, she tried again and again, each time with the same result. “What is this?!” she cried. “It’s driving me mad!”

Xiao Heng remained calm. He extended his hand and slowly felt along the invisible barrier.

“The small Cauldron of the Medicine King is the key to the true Cauldron,” he murmured. A thought flashed in his eyes.

“This little cauldron — it can hold living beings, can’t it?” he asked suddenly.

Su Xiaomei blinked, startled. “What are you thinking?”

Xiao Heng’s gaze lingered on the distortion ahead, the faint glimmer of realization dawning within his eyes.
