Chapter 248: Wait for Them to Come Out
"Captain Zhao, we’re taking the Bone Porcelain Woman for your own good. Not only does she have immense research value, but her danger is obvious. If she loses control, won’t the entire C Province Exorcist Division be wiped out? That would break our hearts, too!"
Zhao Ying and Xiang Xiaoyuan glared at the kindly smiling old man before them—his words were utterly shameless.
To contain the Bone Porcelain Woman, the C Province Exorcist Division had fought a fierce battle.
KSC-01 and KSC-02 had especially distinguished themselves, battling her for three hundred rounds.
If not for them exhausting her strength, the containment team wouldn’t have even had the chance to use the containment artifact.
They wouldn’t have even been able to get close to her—let alone seal her away.
And yet, during the battle, these people were nowhere to be found.
Now that the fight was over, they conveniently showed up to reap the rewards.
During the massacre at headquarters, he had conveniently been absent. And once it began, he had only stayed on the sidelines, urging the provincial divisions to come to their aid.
According to the Exorcist Division’s long-standing rules, the containment artifact should go to the branch that made the greatest contribution—not be claimed by headquarters just because the incident happened there.
"Sis Ying, we should’ve listened to the Governor! We never should’ve gotten involved in this mess!" Xiang Xiaoyuan pouted, her chest heaving in anger.
"Senior Wang, since we were able to contain the Bone Porcelain Woman, we can naturally ensure she won’t lose control. And even if she does, our C Province Exorcist Division has KSC-0 to suppress her. KSC-01 and KSC-02 now take direct orders from KSC-0."
Zhao Ying deliberately avoided revealing that KSC-0 was actually Chen Huaian himself—that was just too ridiculous to explain.
So she simply used KSC-0 as a scare tactic against Wang Rui.
"KSC-0? The Tyrant?"
Wang Rui, privy to certain classified files, chuckled and shook his head.
"The Bone Porcelain Woman is classified as King-level. Your Division’s No. 0 containment object is Marshal-level. Using a Marshal to suppress a King—don’t you think that’s a joke?"
"In contrast, our Wang family does have the ability to suppress a King-level entity."
"Oh? Is that so?"
A voice rang out.
Chen Huaian pushed open the conference room doors and walked in, his gaze cold as he locked onto Wang Rui.
"Mr. Wang, can you take responsibility for what you just said?"
"And who might you be?" Wang Rui frowned.
He hated being interrupted—especially by young men who were infuriatingly handsome.
"I am Chen Huaian, Governor of the C Province Exorcist Division."
Chen Huaian casually shrugged off his coat and tossed it to Lin Lingling behind him.
He glanced at Zhao Ying and Xiang Xiaoyuan, giving them a subtle signal.
"Since Mr. Wang claims he has a way to suppress this containment object, why don’t you let her out?"
As he entered, he had already spotted Strawberry Bear and Shrimp King.
These two were supposedly beaten up, but in reality, they hadn’t suffered any injuries.
They were merely being suppressed by a mysterious force.
That force came from the black-robed figure standing behind Wang Rui.
The robed man was shrouded completely in darkness, his hands gripping an ancient formation disk that radiated a solemn, oppressive aura.
It was this aura that kept Strawberry Bear and Shrimp King immobilized.
Wang Rui’s expression flickered slightly. He tapped his fingers against the conference table.
"Governor Chen, now that the entity is contained, there’s no need to release it. If someone gets hurt, that would be a grave misstep."
Seeing Zhao Ying and Xiang Xiaoyuan hesitate, Chen Huaian walked directly up to the Blood Porcelain Vase, swiped a finger across its surface—covertly dripping in Da Ha’s demon blood—and then tossed it toward Wang Rui.
"Mr. Wang, you must be joking. Since our C Province Exorcist Division is incapable of handling such a menace, we won’t argue with you over it."
With that, he turned and waved to his team.
"All personnel—withdraw!"
He slung Strawberry Bear over one shoulder, hoisted Shrimp King with the other, and strode out.
Though Zhao Ying and Xiang Xiaoyuan were unwilling, the Governor had spoken.
They could only follow.
Once they stepped outside, however, they realized—Chen Huaian hadn’t left at all.
He was casually chatting with KSC-01 and KSC-02, laughing and joking.
"Governor sure has a great bond with those containment objects," Xiang Xiaoyuan murmured in admiration.
"Who else but the Governor could manage that?" Zhao Ying sighed, letting go of her frustration.
Sure, they lost a critical containment object.
But at least no one got hurt.
That was a win for everyone in the C Province Exorcist Division.
As they approached, they finally caught what Chen Huaian was saying.
"You two useless lumps of trash! Couldn’t even handle something this simple?! Starting today—you’re sleeping standing up!"
Xiang Xiaoyuan: "…"
Zhao Ying: "…"
"Governor, aren’t we heading back?"
They glanced around—there wasn’t a spare helicopter in sight.
Even the one that had brought Chen Huaian here had already left.
"Back? For what? Do you know how expensive fuel is?"
Chen Huaian shoved his hands in his pockets.
With a snap of his fingers, Lin Lingling, ever the bootlicker, hurried over and draped his black trench coat over his shoulders.
"Governor, want a smoke?" She pulled out a cigarette.
"Where the hell did you get that?" Chen Huaian frowned.
"Minors aren’t allowed to smoke!"
"I, uh… swiped it from the conference table earlier." Lin Lingling stuck out her tongue.
"Governor, so… what are we waiting for? A ride?" Xiang Xiaoyuan asked, still confused.
"Wait for what ride?"
Chen Huaian snatched the cigarette from Lin Lingling’s hand and tossed it to the ground, grinning ominously.
"We’re waiting for them to come out and beg us."
"…Come out and beg us???"
"Yep. Just wait."
Chen Huaian cast his gaze toward the Exorcist Division headquarters, a wicked smirk curling at his lips.
Only he knew…
The Bone Porcelain Woman had willingly allowed herself to be contained.
Otherwise, no matter how hard Strawberry Bear and Shrimp King fought, they wouldn’t have lasted three whole days against her.
This whole scenario?
Just a scripted play—one that only he knew the ending to.
—
Wang Rui’s face was pale as he stared at the Blood Porcelain Vase, now glowing with a sinister red light.
The malevolent entity within was stirring.
He turned anxiously to the black-robed man.
"Mr. Tokugawa… can you really handle this thing?"
The robed figure, Tokugawa Kazuya, scoffed.
"Wang Rui-san, are you doubting the Tokugawa Clan’s Onmyōdō? This is but a mere vengeful spirit—I, Tokugawa Kazuya, can suppress it with ease!
"Did you not see how I immobilized C Province’s two containment objects?!"
As he spoke, blood mist began seeping from the vase.
The seductive silhouette of the Bone Porcelain Woman emerged from the swirling red fog.
A bone-chilling wind swept through the conference hall.
Wang Rui gulped.
Still, with Tokugawa’s guarantee…
It should be fine, right?
Tokugawa lifted his right arm, twelve vermillion talismans bursting forth.
Blue-white lightning crackled across the talisman circle, casting eerie shadows across the Bone Porcelain Woman’s pale face.
Candle flames in all four corners turned ghostly green.
"Such power!" Wang Rui gasped.
The more special effects, the stronger the technique, right?
Tokugawa roared, channeling all his strength.
All twelve talismans fused into one—
And then—
The Bone Porcelain Woman simply…
Flicked her wrist.
CRACK!
Silence.
Tokugawa Kazuya slowly looked down at his hand.
The formation disk in his palm…
Shattered.
…
