Chapter 991 No Skipping Class!
Gao Jie landed a punch, but he himself grunted, clutching his fist as he stumbled back several steps.
The onlookers gasped, a collective "Whoa!" escaping their lips.
Gao Jie looked down at his fist; it was bright red! A large patch of skin across his knuckles was inflamed.
"What the devil?" he muttered.
"I punched him in the gut, the softest part of the human body, so how did I hit bone there? And not just any bone, but one incredibly, unreasonably hard?"
Little did he know, the mass-produced avatar of the Heavenly Lord had a chest and abdomen that were actually two iron storage boxes, each containing a tiny reconnaissance Heavenly Lord unit.
Gao Jie's punch had struck an iron box, protected by a layer of silicone skin. No wonder his fist was red! If not for that silicone cushioning, his injury would have been far worse.
Gao Jie, thinking his opponent had mastered a Golden Bell Shield technique so thoroughly that even his soft abdomen was as hard as steel, felt a flicker of panic. He rubbed his injured right hand with his left, an awkward expression on his face. "What formidable Iron Shirt kung fu," he mumbled.
Li Daoxuan replied, "Just average, third in the world."
Cao Bianjiao groaned, "Uncle, focus! Is who the top two are the point here? He clearly said 'third' for the rhyme!"
Cao Wenzhao blinked. "Ah, I see. You have a point."
Gao Jie, still rubbing his fist, declared, "Before, I aimed for the abdomen, fearing I might accidentally take a life. But since your Iron Shirt kung fu is so impressive, I'll have to target your vital points now."
Li Daoxuan nodded. "Alright, hit them hard, right on the vital points."
The onlookers roared with laughter. "Hahahaha! How presumptuous! Do you think you can defeat the Heavenly Lord?"
Gao Jie gritted his teeth, then unleashed another punch, a swift blow aimed at Li Daoxuan's chest.
"Thwack!"
It hurt!
He recoiled his fist, once again stumbling back three steps.
This time, the pain in his fist was almost numb.
Gao Jie was starting to feel unnerved.
"What kind of monster is this?" he thought. "Two punches, and he's completely unharmed, while my fists are throbbing with agony. This... am I supposed to aim for his temple next?"
His gaze shifted upwards, landing on Li Daoxuan's temple.
But just then, he felt a gentle tug on his arm from behind. He turned his head to see Xing Honglang.
Xing Honglang didn't speak, merely shook her head.
Gao Jie knew that this wife, whom he'd taken from the Dashing General, was a very intelligent woman, shrewd and more perceptive than he was.
Seeing his wife's subtle hint, Gao Jie instantly understood. If he continued to stubbornly insist, he might actually be in for a harsh lesson.
His gaze moved away from Li Daoxuan's temple. He clasped his hands in a respectful salute. "Two punches are enough. This Gao is no match for you. I concede."
The crowd murmured in disappointment. "Huh? Oh, come on!"
The spectacle was over too soon, leaving them wanting more.
Li Daoxuan, meanwhile, mused: *A wise wife truly is a man's greatest helper.* Historically, after Gao Jie's death, this woman had taken her son to seek refuge with Shi Kefa, a remarkably shrewd move.
Li Daoxuan announced, "Since General Gao has conceded, please proceed to the lecture."
Gao Jie clasped his hands once more, then turned and walked away, too embarrassed to remain.
As he walked, however, a thought slyly crept into his mind: *I can always skip class, right?*
No sooner had the thought formed than he heard Li Daoxuan's voice call out from a distance, "General Gao, no skipping class, okay?"
Gao Jie froze.
Li Daoxuan added, "If I catch you skipping, you'll be confined for a week."
The words were truly infuriating. Gao Jie's rebellious spirit flared up again, and he whirled around in anger. "Old... I am an official appointed by the imperial court! Do you think you can just confine me on a whim? By what right?"
"By this!" Li Daoxuan declared. The moment his words faded, a colossal black teacup suddenly appeared in the sky, descending with a resounding *THUD*, engulfing Gao Jie within it.
Gao Jie was truly startled. In an instant, he was plunged into utter darkness; not a sliver of light penetrated the teacup, rendering him completely blind.
He stretched out a hand and felt a smooth, ceramic-like wall. He tapped it—it was incredibly thick... utterly impossible to break through.
Terrified, he screamed and hollered from within.
Xing Honglang and Gao Jie's guards were equally stunned. One moment they were walking along, the next a colossal teacup plummeted from the sky, trapping Gao Jie with a bang. The powerful gust of wind generated by its descent nearly swept those walking nearby off their feet.
When they finally registered the scene before them, they were utterly bewildered, circling the teacup helplessly.
Xing Honglang turned to Li Daoxuan and instantly dropped to her knees. "Heavenly Lord, I beg your mercy! Please spare my foolish husband's life."
"Don't worry, I have no intention of killing him," Li Daoxuan assured her. "If I truly wanted him dead, he'd be gone long ago. Why would I play around like this?"
No sooner had he spoken than the teacup soared skyward again, vanishing into the clouds with a whoosh, leaving no trace behind.
The crowd remained speechless.
Once Gao Jie was free, he was utterly disoriented.
Only then did he truly believe Li Daoxuan was a divine being. He, too, dropped to his knees with a thud. "This humble general... this humble general... will certainly attend class diligently."
Li Daoxuan waved a hand. "Go now, attend your classes well, and be a good man. Otherwise, your life will surely be forfeit."
Gao Jie scrambled to his feet and fled as if his life depended on it.
Only then did Li Daoxuan turn his attention to the Cao uncle and nephew.
It was clear he intended to urge these two to attend class as well.
Cao Wenzhao's expression was utterly bewildered, clearly shaken by the previous spectacle.
He remained dumbfounded for several seconds before suddenly asking, "Such a massive teacup... how many catties of tea leaves would one need to brew a cup of appropriate strength?"
Cao Bianjiao broke out in a cold sweat. "Uncle, is *that* what you're concerned about? A deity stands before us, a divine being! Why are you wondering how many catties of tea leaves that giant teacup would require?"
Cao Wenzhao blinked again. "Ah, you're right."
He turned to look at Li Daoxuan, who was also watching him.
Cao Wenzhao looked left, then right, then pointed to his own nose. "Heavenly Lord, are you looking at me like that because you want me to attend class too?"
"Indeed," Li Daoxuan confirmed. "You both must attend class."
Cao Wenzhao's expression brightened with pride. "This Cao is no mere pacified bandit! I have received an excellent education and am known for my loyalty and valor."
"I have no disagreement with that," Li Daoxuan replied, "however, the education you received previously is not the same as the lessons I intend for you. Therefore, you must still attend."
The Cao uncle and nephew exchanged a glance, both seeing the unspoken words "I don't want to go" in the other's eyes.
However, the recent scene of the teacup descending from the heavens and encapsulating Gao Jie had been utterly too shocking. Neither of them harbored any thoughts of directly defying Li Daoxuan now.
Li Daoxuan said, "I know you're also contemplating skipping class. But let me be blunt: if you skip, you'll still be confined. However... given your loyalty and valor, I won't use a teacup for you. I'll choose something brighter..."
As he spoke, a transparent glass cup descended from the sky, landing with a *THUD* directly in front of the Cao uncle and nephew. It didn't trap them inside, but merely served as a demonstration.
