    I really don't like the time-river-theory. I hate time travel bs anyways but it makes no sense to me.

    So the Nightmares started before there were people that Awoke but still somehow the existence of the Awoken cause the Gates to spawn or whatever.

    It would be much easier to accept that the Dreaming is a weapon created by the Ancients that just conquers other worlds. They are long gone but the weapon is still active hence the Nightmares continuing. Once the Nightmare takes over a world it is integrated into the Dreaming.

        Another option would be Weaver just likes to f#ck with people and brings him joy so he just does it.
        Also, every idea is kinda common. The whole time travel affecting the past/Future is a pretty common trope.
