Will almost everyone in the city die when Falcon Scott falls, Or were they able to get them out of there and evacuate before the destruction? If everyone dies, what will Sunny's reaction be?Is this what will give him conviction, or is it something more important than conviction? constraint FamilyGuy061

I can’t help but remember what Cassie said about Sunny. He is the kindest person she ever met. He doesn’t see himself as a hero yet his actions go beyond cold logic and reasoning.

His conviction… I wonder if it is related to defying fate. Even going against his own nature of self preservation.

Sunny can be augmented by 1-7 shadows. Neph's augmentation is just her flames. Sunny can turn every Echo to Shadow that can grow alongside him to Divine. Neph's Echoes can't. Sunny's flaw is one of the simplest and easiest to circumvent. Neph's flaw will make others choose death instead. Try spending a day without lying and spending a day while setting yourself on fire. Even Caster had a worse flaw than Sunny's. At least Sunny has a living family for him to care about. Neph has none. After Forgotten Shore, Sunny's life became easy. Bank credits. Memories. New house. Good food. Friends. After Forgotten Shore, Neph's life just moved from one hell to another hell, for years. Sure Red Colloseum and Shadow's castle was something, but what's that compared to Neph burning day and night, her getting torn apart by the kraken creature under the Dark Sea and her own more than fair share of hell? Oh and when Sunny was thinking about if he should abandon the refugees he was escorting, some of you agreed and most of you were neutral. But when Sunny admitted he would abandon a blind girl, none of you guys, not even one thought it's a bad thing. Him becoming a slave literally saved him from being a slave of Mordret. Still leaves a bad taste in your mouth? Swallow it suckers! Neph decides to lead the residents of Dark City against the Crimson Spire cuz that was the obvious thing to do and that's a bad thing. While Sunny mistakenly killing innocent Harper was a lamentable thing at best. Sunny can also f#cking weave while Neph doesn't has any skill of Sorcery. Oh what? It's because Sunny put his life on the line in the Colloseum, had to be beheaded, and he's actually a genius with pure skill that he can weave? Then hasn't Neph been surviving so far by putting her life on the line, with her pure combat skills and literally burning every second of her ability usage duration which is worse than dying? There's so many reasons, myriad of reasons that contributes to Neph's superiority over Sunny. Yet in all these years, all these fkin years, for the first time Neph doesn't has to fight, even if she's surrounded by enemies. And it's been less than 2 months and everybody's weaving narratives against her progress. I have heard of Mass Hysteria but when did mass idiocy become so contagious?
So, if anybody thinks otherwise, instead of delivering insulting comments like most of you are used to since it's easy, try and refute me with enough reason to back your claims. Otherwise, just downvote me and move on you cretins.

Is the paragraph longer than the chapter? Or is it longer than the combined length of all the comments of a chapter that you read?
Anyways, it's about Neph's easy life and how unfair it is compared to Sunny.

No? And that obviously does not matter im here to read the chapter not some long ass comment with no proper context

Anyhow i read your comment and most of it is just presupposition, you are appealing to emotion. In the first place comparing two tragic lives is weird in itself, but ill still bring up some argument in sunny's case cause you are misinterpreting some of it. Aside from their powers because they don't have relevance in this subject.

Sunny's flaw on his own is not that bad, you are right but what makes it worse is his true name, if someone asks his true name hes basically done and will get a fate way worse than death. In forgotten shore he got lucky since it was Harper who asked but for example if it was some influential or powerful person like a saint or a government officer, his life would be over with no salvation.

Sunny's family situation is complex, both sunny and nephis have had horrible family situation, nephis's might or might not be worse but sunny is technically alone too, his sister does not remember him they lived way different lives, he cares about her but gets nothing in return in that same bond. Nephis's early childhood days were good, but sunny never had a good day due to his circumstances, he had to struggle since birth.

Sunny's life worst moments literally came in 2nd nightmare aside from nephis saying his true name and him watching rain in her home as a young teen so i don't know what you are talking about with his life being better after forgotten shore, if little stability is what you call good then sure but nephis has that currently too. We don't know the full details of what nephis went through so we cant say for now.

Refuge stuff, i never wanted him to abandon so i wont speak on that, don't see the relevance

Sunny wanting to abandon cassie was wrong indeed but he was shaped by his rough and cruel environment, he has developed since then and proved with his actions when he dove back in the sea at the risk of his life just to save cassie

Nephis is superior to him due to her circumstances, she got better education and she got more fragments despite killing way less nightmare creatures than sunny which she admitted herself

Anyway this whole stuff is mixed between lots of point, we cant really compare 2 tragic lives but cheers

Plus Nephis wasn't that thrown off about wandering alone as most people would. She even felt somewhat happy, but was slowly losing her contact with humanity. At the same time Sunny was hopelessly murdered countless times in the second nightmare and had to experience the emotional suffering of loss (like a nightmare of that old man in the sacred grove). Also a lot of trials Nephis went through are not even described (that one time when she got a lot of soul essence instantaneously? the feat was never explained, for now) and happened off-screen.

Their suffering is absolutely incomparable, because every one of them has it down horrendous. You could only somewhat compare the suffering of a well-off person and a sick hobo dying on the streets. The case with Nephis and Sunny is far closer. Evaluating both their lives is a fool's errand.

Lol. I am pretty sure that if Nephis is the MC of this novel, you guys will have a different take. You've to consider the fact that most of the chapters are from Sunny's pov, hence we get to relate more and sympathize with him more than any other characters. If it was the other way around (that is, in the case of Nephis being the mc) we would feel the same thing towards her.

Well... Yes? I even mentioned that most of Neph's feats and ordeals happened off-screen, which left us blind to the information necessary to judge her. I didn't mean that she doesn't deserve any credit, I meant that it's impossible for us to evaluate her path.

      Completely agree.
But just wanted to say as a first time reader, Nephis can also augment herself several times over using flames because that is what it seemed like when the two of them were testing their abilities together.

The reason many usually look over Nephis's struggle is because unlike Sunny she doesn't complain. I am not saying Sunny is wrong to complain, he is growing every chapter and that complaining is part of it.

On the other hand Nephis has already decided her way of life so she doesn't complain and just goes with it. Nephis character development is focused on relationship development rather than mindset development.
