Chapter 300: The Eight Escaped Prisoners

The labor reform prisoners were escorted by a large group of guards to a stretch of barren land.

Zhong Gaoliang pulled out a construction diagram and studied it before declaring loudly, "Our Gao Family Village intends to open a new road from here, leading directly to Fengyuan Town. Your task is to excavate in this direction, all the way to Fengyuan Town."

The labor reform prisoners responded weakly and began their work.

Zao Ying's gaze swept over the labor reform prisoners. She studied them carefully, then glanced at the Gao Family Village guards before murmuring, "If these fellows suddenly rebel, your guards alone couldn't hold them back."

San Shier nodded. "Indeed, they couldn't."

Zao Ying pressed, "Then why aren't you afraid in the slightest?"

San Shier glanced up at the low clouds in the sky and smiled. "Absolutely foolproof."

Zao Ying stared.

A look of profound bewilderment crossed her face.

As the labor reform prisoners dug, Zao Ying noticed something amiss with eight of them. They were digging, yet secretly inching towards the edge of the work site.

She couldn't help but whisper, "San Shier, you might need to send someone to keep an eye on those eight."

San Shier glanced at the eight men's positions, then looked up. The low clouds in the sky had already drifted directly above them. He chuckled, "It's fine, it's fine. Lady Zao need not worry."

No sooner had they spoken than the work site erupted in chaos.

Lao Nanfeng suddenly sprang to his feet and shoved aside the guard closest to him.

That guard was no expert fighter; indeed, he was one of Gao Family Village's earliest labor reform prisoners turned guard, possessing only the combat strength of an ordinary villager. He was no match for a seasoned border general like Lao Nanfeng. The push sent him sprawling onto his backside.

With a whoosh, Lao Nanfeng bolted past him.

Seven of his men raced after him.

These eight men were all agile and swift. Their speed, by modern standards, would make them at least B-level national track and field athletes. In the blink of an eye, they had burst past the outer perimeter of the work site and vanished behind a small mound.

The other guards hadn't even had time to react...

Several seconds later, they finally heard the guard who had been pushed over shout, "Ouch! The labor reform prisoners are escaping!"

Zao Ying couldn't help but whisper, "San Shier, how about I take my men and pursue them at full gallop, bringing them back for you?"

San Shier shook his head with a smile. "Thank you for your kindness, Lady Zao. Please rest easy as our guest; we can handle it."

Then, raising his voice, he declared to the entire work site, "Don't panic, and no one move! Everyone stay in your positions. The Heavenly Lord will deal with those eight."

The guards paused, bewildered for a moment, then immediately noticed a low cloud in the sky drifting in the direction the eight men had fled.

Suddenly, everyone understood.

The guards broke into smiles and laughter. "The Heavenly Lord is here."

"Then it's nothing to worry about. Let them run."

"Let's see if they can run faster than a deity can fly."

"Hahahahaha!"

Lao Nanfeng and his group, in the blink of an eye, covered several dozen feet. They scrambled over hills and leaped across ditches, running straight north.

They weren't very familiar with the surrounding terrain, nor precisely where they were, but as long as they knew they were in Chengcheng County, they were certain Huanglong Mountain lay to the north. Once they reached Huanglong Mountain, they'd have nothing more to fear.

Li Daoxuan watched the eight small figures flee in disarray. He mused, "What method should I use to deal with them?"

Just swat them down and scare them home? Boring!

No, these eight guys deserved a much bigger shock.

Since you enjoy breaking out of prison, then I'll let you truly experience the "jailbreak" to its fullest.

He rummaged through the various miniature toys he'd bought home, and soon enough, he found just the thing: "Hamster's Great Adventure."

It was a large box, half a meter square, filled with all sorts of "vicious" traps: spinning plastic blades, scary plastic cockroaches, flipping pitfalls, water hazards, and more. To play, you'd place a hamster at the entrance and food at the exit, and the little hamster would then "cut through thorns and thistles," "overcome all obstacles," and race to the finish line to find its meal.

Li Daoxuan adjusted the box's perspective northward, found an empty patch of land large enough for "Hamster's Great Adventure," and placed the box down, leveling it. Then, following the instructions, he filled the water sections, placed the rolling balls where they belonged, arranged the plastic cockroaches, inserted the batteries, and flipped the switch....

Preparations complete!

Next, he shifted his view back to the eight escapees.

The eight men were still running at full speed, glancing back over their shoulders as they went.

The work site was already far behind them, and no one seemed to be giving chase.

Lao Nanfeng was overjoyed. "It seems we've escaped!"

The other seven were equally thrilled. "Wonderful! It's always good following Brother Nanfeng, hahahaha!"

Lao Nanfeng also felt a surge of pride. "A mere band of amateur guards thought they could trap me, Lao Nanfeng? Truly overestimating their abilities! Once I get into Huanglong Mountain, far away from this wretched place, I'll never come back."

One subordinate murmured, "Aren't we going to get revenge?"

Lao Nanfeng scoffed, "Revenge, my foot! Didn't you see the Heavenly Lord Dao Xuan? A hand that *huge*, that *huge*! How could we possibly fight that? We should be thanking Heaven and Earth that we escaped! And you want revenge?"

The subordinate mumbled, "I didn't dare think of revenge, I just asked."

Lao Nanfeng declared, "When I ran just now, I didn't even dare to harm the guard; I only pushed him away, so they wouldn't seek retaliation against us." Li Daoxuan, upon hearing this, actually chuckled. *This man actually understands restraint*, he thought. *But it's no use. No matter how much restraint he shows, he still has to go back to labor reform. And before that, he'll have to face punishment for breaking out! Let them fully experience the terror of the Heavenly Lord Dao Xuan!*

He donned the Infinite Gauntlet, and with a whoosh, slapped the ground in front of the eight men.

The eight men were still sprinting ahead when suddenly, a giant golden hand descended from the sky ahead of them, landing with a thud on the ground right before their eyes. It was just like the scene of battle outside Chengcheng County not long ago.

The eight men cried out in unison, "Ah!" and with a series of thuds, collapsed to the ground.

"It's over, we can't escape!"

"It's got its eyes on us."

Despair etched itself onto the eight men's faces, and inwardly, they all knew things had gone terribly wrong.

Breaking out of prison would definitely not end well for them. Luckily, they hadn't killed any guards during their escape, so perhaps they might receive "lenient treatment"?

Just as the eight men were thinking this, they saw the giant golden hand move behind them and, like a towering wall, begin to press in on them.

This utterly terrified the eight men. They scrambled to their feet and sprinted forward. "Run! It's pressing down on us!"

Li Daoxuan adjusted the direction of his hand, herding the eight men like ducks towards "Hamster's Great Adventure."
