Chapter 280: A Rare Opportunity, Let's Do It!

Above the mountain forest, a group of Wizards floated in the air, each separated by thousands of meters, gazing intently towards the cave's direction.

Those participating in the search for the Poisonous Undead Monarch's head were all members of the Large Wizard Faction. Others from the Wizard Faction were excluded and could only observe the operation's progress from afar.

Su Nan and Lize were no exception. As they looked into the distance, they exchanged hushed words.

“The God Corpse Fragments we obtained from this competition should be enough to trade for a substantial amount of resources with the Wisdom Codex, enough to allow us to construct several large Medium Wizard Towers,” Lize speculated about the benefits of this operation.

The battle with Black Suo Tower had made her increasingly aware of the deficiencies of the Star Alliance regarding Wizard Towers, and she was determined to address these shortcomings as soon as possible. This was a shared consensus with Su Nan.

Currently, the Star Alliance earned substantial profits annually from the price difference between Sub Magestones and Magic Stones, which was sufficient to support the expansion of military forces and the promotion of Magic Technology.

However, the construction of Wizard Towers had been slow.

One limitation was resources. Many of the materials required to build Wizards were relatively rare and not available for trade from the Wisdom Codex; they needed to be collected gradually or synthesized by Su Nan himself.

Another limitation was manpower. The current number of Wizards in the Star Alliance remained rather small.

Various aspects, such as Puppet Crafting, Potion Making, and Magic Item Creation, required the participation of Wizards, and the manpower available for building Wizard Towers was limited.

Of course, the Star Alliance could allow their own Wizards to gather resources and construct Wizard Towers. However, this would be too slow, potentially taking two or three centuries before any results were visible.

The Star Alliance was at a stage that demanded rapid development and expansion, and they did not have that much time to spare.

Therefore, the fastest approach was for the Star Alliance to coordinate all resources and concentrate its forces on constructing Wizard Towers.

In fact, of the eighteen Wizard Towers currently possessed by the Star Alliance, aside from the Starlight Wizard Tower, which was built by themselves, the other seventeen were seized from their enemies.

If the risks weren't too high, Su Nan would have actually preferred to engage in a few more battles with other Wizard Factions to claim additional Wizard Towers.

Belonging to the Star Alliance, the Wizard Tower is currently still under construction.

Just then, Su Nan suddenly noticed someone approaching. He turned his head to look and saw two people flying toward them. One of them looked familiar. It was Bryce, whom he had met before at the City of All Things Starry Sky Tower. Bryce was affiliated with the Thousand Headed Bird, which, like the Star Alliance, was part of the Wisdom Codex's subordinate organizations.

"Master Su Nan, it's been a long time," Bryce greeted him with a smile before introducing the person beside him. "This is Lord Gavin, the one in charge of our Thousand Headed Bird's operations this time."

"I've heard a lot about you, Fellow Daoist Su Nan," Gavin said, nodding with a smile toward Su Nan. His gaze carried a hint of scrutiny and curiosity. After all, there had been quite a few rumors about Su Nan's deeds lately. Particularly within the small circle of Wisdom Codex's subordinate organizations, Su Nan and the Star Alliance had become quite well-known.

Su Nan nodded with a smile in return. According to the information given to him by Cyril, the leader the Thousand Headed Bird sent this time was also a True Spirit Descendant named Gavin—clearly the person standing before him.

"The actions of Black Suo Tower are cruel and tyrannical. Many of our Thousand Headed Bird's Wizards have fallen to that group of Black Wizards. Fellow Daoist Su Nan, you dealt a significant blow to Black Suo Tower this time; it's truly gratifying!" Gavin laughed heartily.

Su Nan understood why they had approached him; they were here to thank him. It seemed the Thousand Headed Bird held a deep-seated hatred for Black Suo Tower.

"We were merely retaliating," Su Nan said with a faint smile.

"Regardless, to defeat the army led by Elliott is no small feat. You and the Star Alliance have genuinely surprised many people this time," Gavin replied.

After exchanging a few more compliments, Gavin's tone shifted. "However, Black Suo Tower is notorious for their vindictiveness. Having suffered such a significant loss, they will not let this go unpunished."

Su Nan's eyes flickered slightly as he asked, "Does Lord Gavin believe that Black Suo Tower will initiate a war?"

"We're backed by Wisdom Codex, so Black Suo Tower wouldn't dare initiate a war with us," Gavin remarked meaningfully. "However, it's inevitable that they will resort to some underhanded tactics. It's better to be safe than sorry. If a conflict arises between Star Alliance and Black Suo Tower, Thousand Headed Bird will gladly offer assistance."

Su Nan regarded Gavin thoughtfully. So, they were planning to join forces with Star Alliance to confront Black Suo Tower.

This was indeed good news for Star Alliance.

Outside of the Earth Crystal Plane, there remained a significant disparity between Star Alliance and top factions like Black Suo Tower. Forming an alliance with Thousand Headed Bird would alleviate some of the pressure of facing Black Suo Tower directly.

"Then I won't stand on ceremony."

Seeing Su Nan's agreement, Gavin's smile widened.

"As allies, we should support one another."

With their cooperation confirmed, the atmosphere between the two parties became increasingly friendly, and the conversation flowed more smoothly.

Just then, an intense surge of Energy Particle Fluctuation erupted in the distance!

In an instant, the four individuals present turned their heads towards the source.

"What a powerful divine energy!" Astonishment flashed across Gavin's eyes.

Bryce questioned, "Is it a Divine Being?"

Su Nan shook his head, his expression grave. "A Divine Being couldn’t possibly possess this level of divine energy."

Even he, upon sensing that divine energy, felt a tingle on his scalp and a chill run down his spine.

"That's right," Gavin concurred with Su Nan. "That is definitely not a Divine Being."

As a fellow Tier 3 Crystallization Wizard, he could better grasp the power and terror of that divine energy.

A Divine Being might reach that level, but it would certainly not manifest in the Earth Crystal Plane at this moment.

Something must have happened at the cave!

Following the eruption of that divine energy, over a hundred powerful surges of Energy Particle Fluctuation erupted from the direction of the cave.

Clearly, all of the Wizards involved in the operation had made their move.

However, what surprised Su Nan and the others was that in an instant, seven or eight surges of Energy Particle Fluctuation vanished!

Su Nan and Gavin exchanged a glance, their expressions growing utterly serious.

It was evident that, in that brief moment, at least seven or eight Wizards had been severely injured or had simply perished.

You have to understand that the weakest of the Wizards participating in the operation were all Second Level Wizards, and there were even seven or eight Level 3 Wizards who were True Spirit Descendants. Yet, they suffered such heavy casualties in an instant. One could easily imagine the magnitude of the trouble they had encountered!

Su Nan took a deep breath, knowing that his fears had ultimately been confirmed.

Without hesitation, he decisively said to Lize, “Order the army to retreat— the farther away from here, the better. Once you determine that the Plane blockade has been deactivated, immediately activate the Plane Channel and leave the Earth Crystal Plane!”

Lize was slightly taken aback but quickly composed herself and solemnly nodded.

“I understand!”

Reflecting on Su Nan's previous actions, she began to comprehend that he might have anticipated this scenario. Once again, Su Nan demonstrated his foresight, and she had no objections to his current orders.

Lize quickly turned around and returned to the temporary Star Alliance camp, preparing to execute the withdrawal order.

Gavin and Bryce exchanged confused glances.

From the looks of things, something unexpected had indeed occurred near the cave. However, at this moment, the forest was swarming with more than ten Wizard Factions.

With an army of millions, supported by several thousand Wizards, unless a being at the True Spirit Wizard level intervened, what kind of change could not be suppressed?

To retreat hastily like this seemed a bit excessive.

However, Su Nan paid no heed to the expressions of the two men; his gaze remained fixed on the direction of the cave.

He was now certain that a significant change had taken place during the final stage of the battle.

And since this change had triggered the eruption of the Wizard Civil War, it was likely to be incredibly dangerous.

The seven or eight Energy Particle Fluctuations that had vanished a moment ago undoubtedly corroborated this.

What he was curious about was, what had actually happened?

As a precaution, Su Nan decided to have the Star Alliance army retreat first while he remained behind.

If it was just him, it would be easier for him to escape.

In the brief moment that it took Su Nan to issue his orders, the situation in the distance changed once again.

Numerous figures shot into the sky, fleeing in panic in all directions.

Behind them, a dense, emerald-green mist billowed, transforming into shapes resembling beastly maws and sharp claws, quickly attacking the figures nearby!

"What is that?"

As they watched the trees around them wither the moment they came into contact with the green mist, turning to dust, Gavin and Bryce couldn't help but frown deeply.

"Roar!"

With an earth-shattering roar, a tall, menacing figure emerged from the mist, its form flashing as it appeared behind a wizard, swinging its claws down ferociously!

Thwack!

The moment the claws struck, a multicolored light of spell energy flashed around the wizard's body, indicating layers of protection.

But in the blink of an eye, all those defenses shattered, the claws sinking deep into the wizard's flesh.

The wizard managed only a short, pitiful cry before their entire body melted into a pool of goo!

"What kind of monster is that?"

Gavin's face paled in horror.

He recognized that wizard; they were a Level 3 Liquefaction Wizard of Savage Spirit, yet they had been killed by the monster without putting up any fight!

Where did this monster come from?

Realizing the seriousness of the situation, Gavin didn't dare linger. He quickly told Su Nan and led Bryce back to their temporary base.

The monster flashed through the sky, slaughtering over a dozen more wizards in the blink of an eye.

Those who possessed great power—enough to conquer a small plane, the second-tier Level 3 wizard warriors—were as fragile as ants in the monster's hands, easily crushed as if they were nothing more than vegetables or watermelons.

"That monster..."

Su Nan watched from afar, his expression shifting with uncertainty.

The creature exuded a powerful divine energy, yet it was completely different from an ordinary divine being. It also carried an extremely sinister aura!

It was like an Abomination of God!

Suddenly, Su Nan realized something as a vague memory surfaced in his mind.

Although the appearance was entirely different, the aura of the monster was very similar to that of the Abomination of God from his memory.

"No wonder Ronning, Bo Ben, and the others fled in panic. Even the weakest Abomination of God is not something a mere second-level Level 3 Wizard can handle!

“This Abomination of God must have been born from the Poisonous Undead Monarch's Head,” Su Nan thought, familiar with the nature of Abominations. After a moment's contemplation, he grasped the origin of this particular creature.

However, new questions arose. Besides the mother, the birth of an Abomination of God also requires a massive source of energy to facilitate its absorption and mutation. This source of energy is far beyond what a Leyline Node or Elemental Pool can provide—it even surpasses the Elemental Furnace of the Floating City.

In his memory, the energy sources that accompany the birth of an Abomination of God are typically limited to a few options: Astral Singularity, Eternal Crystal Core, Source of the Dead Abyss, and Law Source Vein! Since the first three sources of energy cannot manifest in the Earth Crystal Plane, the remaining option is clear—Law Source Vein!

At this moment, even Su Nan couldn't help but breathe a little faster. In simpler terms, a Law Source Vein is an aggregation point of Law Power. Once a Plane develops a Law Source Vein, it will gradually transform into a Main Plane over time, which will then differentiate into multiple Sub Planes, ultimately forming a Plane Cluster. Thus, the Law Source Vein is often regarded as the foundation of a Plane Cluster.

Su Nan never imagined that the Earth Crystal Plane would actually possess a Law Source Vein. At the same time, he understood why this incident became the catalyst for the Wizard Civil War. The value of an Earth Crystal Plane with the potential to evolve into a Plane Cluster is evident.

From the moment the Law Source Vein was discovered, the Earth Crystal Plane undoubtedly became a coveted prize for major Wizard factions seeking to acquire it. Seize the Earth Crystal Plane, and in due time, a Plane Cluster could be obtained. This temptation is irresistible to any Wizard faction!

It is likely that rival Wizard factions fought fiercely for control of the Earth Crystal Plane, eventually escalating into the Wizard Civil War. But if that were all there was to it, Su Nan would have simply sighed and remained unfazed."

After all, the Earth Crystal Plane was clearly not something the current Star Alliance could aspire to.

He only needed to observe from a distance and prepare for the impending Wizard Civil War, ready to extract benefits from it.

However, the Law Source Vein was different.

It served as the convergence point of Law Power, containing a substantial amount of original Law Power.

If one could get close, it would significantly enhance their understanding and control of Law.

Even for a True Spirit Wizard, it would have considerable benefits!

As for a Level 3 Wizard, simply being able to approach the Law Source Vein would greatly enhance their Spiritual Condensation.

Moreover, if one could seize the opportunity to extract a trace of Origin Law Power and store it, then absorb it after breaking through to Level 3 Crystallization, it would undoubtedly shorten the time required to comprehend Law Power.

As for whether doing so would harm the Source of Law, what did he care?

"The True Spirit Wizards from the outside will soon learn what is happening here. With the involvement of the Law Source Vein, the mere battle for supremacy is no longer the priority. They will undoubtedly intervene immediately."

"It will take some effort to remove the Plane blockade. My time is limited; if I'm going to act, it must be now!"

Su Nan looked into the distance. The Wizard Tower of the Deep Blue Alliance, the Star Spirit Clock Tower, and the Gloomy Throne, along with other Wizard Factions, were already moving towards the Abomination of God, beginning their siege.

Noticing that neither side had time to focus on other areas, Su Nan's gaze sharpened, and he quickly made a decision.

This opportunity was rare; he would seize it!
