Chapter 275: An Exaggerated Number of Troops
As a prominent Wizard Faction, the Savage Spirit had its own method of warfare.
These methods took the form of colossal, mountain-like spheres, their surfaces dotted with circular cavities.
The Mountain Barbarian Behemoth, a type of super-sized Alchemic Creature, was a biological weapon primarily composed of metal and living organisms.
At this moment, the two types of war machines were locked in an intense battle high in the sky.
The cavities of the Mountain Barbarian Behemoth launched hundreds of blood-colored projectiles that struck the Mobile Spire like cannonballs, creating massive craters and splattering highly corrosive liquids that clung to the tower walls, sizzling and emitting blue smoke.
In retaliation, the Mobile Spire unleashed ripple-like blue waves that surged forward like a tidal wave, causing any blood-colored projectiles that came into contact with them to explode instantly.
When these blue waves collided with the Mountain Barbarian Behemoth, its outer skin peeled away like melting butter, revealing the raw, red flesh beneath.
Both sides exchanged blows, caught in an intense struggle.
Interspersed throughout the chaos were beams of cannon fire from the Wizard Tower, crisscrossing and annihilating one another, while the multicolored spell radiance nearly obscured the sky.
The battle between the Deep Blue Alliance and the Savage Spirit undoubtedly foretold chaos ahead; the contest for the God Corpse Fragments would likely enter a more tumultuous and fierce stage.
Su Nan contemplated for a moment and said, “Tell the people below to be more careful during the next search.”
Lize nodded, “I will instruct them.”
After observing for a little longer, Su Nan lost interest and turned to head back to the Elemental Pool.
Even in this turbulent situation, he did not relax his cultivation. He continued to absorb the divine energy extracted from the God Corpse Fragments daily, slowly refining his spirit.
While the divine energy within the God Corpse Fragments was immense, its purity was far inferior to that of the divine energy found in the Elemental Crystal Core. Rashly absorbing it could contaminate his soul.
Even purifying a True Spirit Wizard requires a significant price to cleanse Divine energy.
When compared to the Elemental Crystal Core, which can be obtained more easily than a True Spirit Wizard, this method is undoubtedly more time-consuming and laborious.
As a result, most Wizards do not absorb Divine energy from Divine Corpses; typically, that energy is utilized for other purposes.
However, Su Nan is different. By using Cube Synthesis on the Divine energy, he can easily purify the Faith Pollution that taints it.
"A palm-sized piece of God Corpse Fragments from Three Points yields enough Divine energy for my cultivation for over ten years."
"If this were a complete Divine Corpse, it could sustain my cultivation for thousands of years."
Moreover, this was a Divine Corpse after Death, with most of its Divine energy depleted from battle.
It is evident just how astonishing the power of a living God truly is.
After a moment of quiet admiration, Su Nan collected his thoughts, sat cross-legged, and began his cultivation.
Another five days passed.
In a canyon more than one thousand six hundred kilometers away from the Star Alliance garrison, a battle had just concluded.
The ground was pitted and uneven, strewn with Puppet wreckage that extended deep into the valley. Occasionally, several crashed Magic Ships could be seen among the debris.
At the deepest part of the valley stood a dilapidated Star Fortress.
Surrounding the ruins of the fortress were over twenty corpses of Divine Beings lying on the ground.
The air was still thick with a greenish-blue poisonous gas.
Coley emerged from the Star Fortress and shook his head at Artier, who was waiting outside.
"The damage is too severe; it cannot be repaired."
Artier sighed, "I didn't expect to find so many Divine Beings hidden here. It's unfortunate that the Star Eye Network hasn't been deployed in this area yet. If we had detected them in advance, we could have brought more troops."
Coley replied calmly, "More Divine Beings indicate that the God Corpse Fragments in the valley are substantial."
"That's true." Artier's grim expression softened slightly.
Though they had lost a Star Fortress, acquiring larger God Corpse Fragments could help compensate for their losses.
"Let's go," Coley said, leading the way deeper into the valley.
Artier turned and instructed the others to transport the wreckage of the Star Fortress and the corpses of the Divine Beings back to the base before following after Coley.
Meanwhile, high above the mountains outside the valley, two Wizards who had used the Invisibility Technique were observing the situation below.
"That Star Alliance fellow is incredibly lucky to have found another piece of God Corpse Fragment so quickly, and judging by its appearance, it’s quite substantial."
"Indeed, after monitoring them for some time, it seems the Star Alliance has discovered a number of God Corpse Fragments. But isn't the number of their Puppets a bit excessive?"
"After all, they are the Wizard faction that repelled the Gloomy Throne invasion, so it’s only natural for them to possess some strength. However, in the end, they’re merely a third-rate Wizard faction. If we decide to act, annihilating them will be a piece of cake."
"Is Lord Elliott truly planning to intervene?"
"Isn't that inevitable?"
"To avenge Makaro?"
"That’s just one reason. More importantly, the undiscovered God Corpse Fragments are becoming increasingly scarce. We can't compete with the larger Wizard factions, so our only option is to target other Wizard factions and seize their God Corpse Fragments. Isn't the Star Alliance a prime target?"
"That's true."
"They’re emerging!"
The two stopped chatting, a faint blue light flashing in their eyes as they focused their gazes several thousand meters away, clearly seeing Coley and Artier stepping out from the depths of the valley.
Coley wore a God Binding Ring on his right hand.
Seeing this, one of the Wizards smiled coldly.
"It appears they obtained it. It’s time to make our move; notify the others."
The other Wizard nodded slightly and promptly crushed the bone token in his hand.
In an instant, a black dot appeared out of nowhere on the distant horizon.
The black dot rapidly expanded and approached in the blink of an eye, revealing itself to be a colossal metal flying ship.
The ship was over two hundred meters long and nearly one hundred meters high. Its entire body was made of metal, and the surface of the hull was covered with pitch-black iron chains, interwoven to form strange patterns resembling a magical array.
Coley and Artier immediately sensed the approaching enemy, their expressions changing drastically.
"It's the Black Suo Tower Dreadnought!" Coley's face was grim. "Just as Master Sunan said, these guys are indeed restless."
Artier's expression turned serious. He spoke in a deep voice, "The visitors have ill intentions; their target might not just be us. We must notify the base as soon as possible."
They had just endured a great battle, and even the Star Fortress had sustained damage. At this moment, their remaining forces clearly lacked the strength to withstand the aggressive enemies.
Coley and Artier made a decisive choice: they left the Flying Fleet and Golem Legion to hold back the enemies while they led the Magic Knight Order to quickly return to the base.
At the Starlight Wizard Tower control center, Su Nan, who had received the emergency message, interrupted his cultivation and made his way to the Council Hall.
Upon seeing him, Lize immediately reported, "Coley and Artier's exploration team was attacked by the Black Suo Tower."
Su Nan narrowed his eyes and inquired, "How are they?"
"They're both fine," Lize replied. "We made preparations in advance, ensuring the exploration team was not too far from the area covered by Star Eye and deployed mobile units ready to provide support. The reinforcements arrived in time, so neither of them was seriously injured, but the Flying Fleet and Golem Legion that accompanied them were all wiped out."
"It's good that they're safe," Su Nan said, waving his hand dismissively. The loss of the Flying Fleet and Golem Legion was not a significant concern; he would make the Black Suo Tower pay for their actions.
"Where are the Black Suo Tower's forces now?" he asked.
"They're heading this way."
Lize gestured, and countless beams of light suddenly appeared, weaving together in the void to form an image.
In the picture, dense Black Suo Dreadnoughts seemed to surround twelve Wizard Towers as they rapidly swept through the sky.
On the ground, armies composed of Golem Puppets and various creatures surged through the Wilderness like a torrent, covering the mountains and plains as far as the eye could see.
"Judging by the situation, the Black Suo Tower has come out in full force," Lize said solemnly. "They have already entered the range of Star Eye and are about five hundred kilometers from the base."
"Let’s meet them in battle," Su Nan replied, staring intently at the image. A dark glimmer flashed in his eyes.
"Since someone is eager to deliver God Corpse Fragments, we shouldn't refuse."
At the same time...
Over five hundred miles away from the Star Alliance garrison, deep within the Black Suo Tower army’s central command at the Council Hall, in the Large Wizard Tower, a group of Wizards sat around a long table, their eyes fixed on a panoramic projection in the void.
As the scouts relayed various bits of intelligence, the data and text on the panoramic image updated continuously.
"The Star Alliance is responding quickly; most of the exploration teams they sent out have already returned to their garrison."
"They seem to possess a magic item capable of real-time detection within a certain area, along with long-distance communication, which explains how they detected our movements so swiftly."
"Even so, their reaction speed shouldn’t be this fast. I suspect they were prepared for us from the beginning."
"No need to speculate. Our strength surpasses that of the Star Alliance. Even if we openly crush them, they stand no chance against us."
"That's right."
Elliott, seated at the head of the table, smiled as he let his subordinates—the Wizards—speak their minds, unfazed by their relaxed demeanor. After all, he felt a deep confidence in their victory in this war.
Although the Star Alliance has risen to prominence, it remains a newly emerging Wizard faction that hasn’t been around for long. Its overall strength barely qualifies as third-rate, a far cry from Black Suo Tower’s might.
Facing such a weak opponent, he didn’t see any possibility of defeat.
Setting everything else aside, the twelve Wizard Towers of Black Suo Tower—comprising eight Small Towers, three Medium Towers, and one Large Tower—far outnumbered those of the Star Alliance.
From their reconnaissance over the past few days, it seemed the Star Alliance had only one Large Wizard Tower, one Medium Wizard Tower, and four Small Wizard Towers.
In terms of numbers alone, the two sides exhibited a significant disparity.
Not to mention the difference in size.
Elliott was somewhat surprised that the Star Alliance had managed to create its own War Creation, but that was all.
The final result of this war would ultimately be one: the Star Alliance would be eliminated from this competition.
The only individual in the entire Star Alliance that Elliott deemed worthy of even a fleeting glance was this Controller, Su Nan.
“To decisively kill Makaro in just one minute is no small feat; I’m not even sure I could accomplish that myself. The key thing is, I heard Su Nan is merely a Tier 3 Vaporization Wizard.”
A cold glint flashed in Elliott's eyes.
A person with such potential to advance to True Spirit Wizard surpassed even his own as a True Spirit Descendant.
With the Black Suo Tower having formed a grudge against the Star Alliance, they could not afford to let Su Nan grow stronger. It was prudent to eliminate this threat at the earliest opportunity.
Now was their only chance to kill Su Nan; otherwise, once he left the Earth Crystal Plane, they would have too many considerations to act decisively.
As he pondered, the Black Suo Tower army closed in, less than fifty kilometers away from the Star Alliance.
Recognizing this, Elliott gathered his thoughts and stood up.
“Everyone, enough small talk.”
“Next, it’s time to deal with those Star Alliance fools. Anything else can wait for the victory celebration after the battle.”
“Elliott, sir, is right!”
“Once we’ve settled with the Star Alliance, we’ll need to choose our next target.”
Everyone echoed his sentiments with smiles.
Just then, a voice suddenly echoed in the void.
[Detected a large number of life forms approaching, located fifty-seven kilometers to the southeast, estimated contact in twelve minutes.]
The room fell silent, the laughter abruptly frozen.
After a brief moment of consideration, Elliott sneered, “Instead of holding the fort and remaining on guard, they dare to attack us directly. It seems our opponents have quite a bit of nerve.”
He swept his hand across the void, and the scene changed instantly. Thousands of Flying Magic Ships filled the entire sky, resembling a torrent of metal blotting out the sun, exuding an oppressive aura that tightened chests.
Further back, six Wizard Towers and forty to fifty gigantic metal fortresses loomed.
They were flanked by dozens of dragons and thousands of human knights riding sub-dragons.
The scene shifted, and the viewpoint turned to the ground.
Countless Golem Puppets marched in orderly formation across the wilderness, their ranks densely packed and stretching into the far distance. Even as the view was pulled upward, the end was far from sight.
On the flanks of the Golem Legion were orderly square formations of cavalry.
Clad in heavy armor from head to toe, they wielded long spears and carried heavy swords at their waists while riding Black Rock Leopards. The exposed skin on their bodies was adorned with strange silver patterns, giving them an extraordinary appearance.
Even from a distance, one could feel the imposing pressure emanating from them, a testament to the elite status of this army.
As this scene unfolded, the once lively hall fell into an eerie silence.
Many of the Black Suo Tower’s Wizards looked bewildered and doubtful.
They had long suspected that the Star Alliance army was larger than expected, but they had never taken it seriously.
After all, the army transport time was 24 hours, and all restrictions applied equally to all Wizard Factions. How much more could the Star Alliance possibly transport?
Yet now, they suddenly realized that the number of Star Alliance troops seemed to be excessively high!
The thousands of spaceships were already remarkable, but what was going on with the Golem Legion on the ground?
Surely, their numbers exceeded a million, right?
How did the Star Alliance manage to transport so many Golem Puppets in just 24 hours?
Elliott stood there, stunned.
He, who had always been full of confidence, now felt a profound sense of confusion and shock in that moment.
