Chapter 248: How Can They Be Poorer Than Us?

“Who are you?”

Evan surveyed the two figures before him, his face dark, a mixture of suspicion and uncertainty in his eyes.

The woman had an ethereal quality about her, clearly not human—more like a ghost. Her presence in this place was indeed strange.

However, what concerned him even more was the young man who had spoken. His aura was calm and collected, exuding a sense of vast, unfathomable depth, like the ocean, making it hard for Evan to see through him.

He had only ever felt something similar from a second-level Level 3 Wizard of a higher rank than himself.

Suddenly, a thought flashed through Evan's mind, and he blurted out, “You’re the leader of the Star Alliance!”

As soon as he spoke, the other Wizards of the Gloomy Throne were taken aback. When they looked at Su Nan again, their gazes were filled with deep fear and suspicion.

According to the intelligence Andrew had received, this Wizard named Su Nan had single-handedly founded the Star Alliance and expanded it to its current scale!

Such an achievement, comparable to a miracle, was something they, who had lived for thousands of years, had never heard of before.

“A prisoner has no right to ask questions,” Su Nan replied, ignoring Evan’s inquiry. “Tell me about your Gloomy Throne’s plans for this operation.”

Evan's expression darkened, and he said coldly, “You’re a Wizard from a Plane that has been sealed for a thousand years. You don’t understand that there are many Wizard factions in the Multiverse that are far stronger than your Star Alliance. Let me advise you, our Gloomy Throne is much stronger than you think. Don’t believe that defeating us equates to victory.”

“I do know a few things,” Su Nan said with a faint smile, speaking slowly and deliberately. “The Gloomy Throne ranks among the top five Wizard factions in the Multiverse, hostile to both the Deep Blue Alliance and the Wisdom Codex, engaged in constant conflict. The Plane Cluster you control is the Gloom Moon Plane Cluster, and you are currently attempting to conquer the Crescent Plane Cluster. But unfortunately, progress hasn’t been smooth. You recently lost a True Spirit Wizard, haven’t you?”

The detention room fell into a deathly silence. Evan and the others wore expressions as if they had seen a ghost.

"If it were just the information mentioned earlier, it could have been something that was coincidentally recorded in some ancient texts left behind by a wizard. However, the invasion of the Crescent Plane Cluster by Gloomy Throne occurred only three hundred years ago. At that time, the Starlight Continent was locked down, completely cut off from the outside world. How could Su Nan possibly be aware of these events?

Moreover, the fall of the True Spirit Wizard happened just last year. Gloomy Throne has kept it a secret, and outsiders would be completely unaware of it!

Unless someone informed him!

Evan, as if realizing something, suddenly turned his head and glared at Andrew. Everyone else had entered the confinement chamber with him; only Andrew had been imprisoned long before. If anyone had leaked information, it could only be Andrew.

Noticing Evan's gaze, Andrew was momentarily stunned, then quickly realized. He hurriedly said, 'I didn't say anything! No, they didn't even interrogate me!'

However, everyone’s eyes were filled with suspicion. Even Lize couldn’t help but wonder if Su Nan might have secretly interrogated Andrew without her knowledge.

After the initial suspicion, Evan quickly calmed down. The will of a wizard and their soul were incredibly powerful and resilient, almost immune to most hypnosis and charm techniques. Therefore, most interrogation methods were ineffective against a wizard.

More importantly, individuals like them, wizards, had all signed contracts with Gloomy Throne and could not engage in any actions that would harm it. The moment they leaked information, both their soul and physical bodies would be annihilated. Thus, the Star Alliance could not have extracted any information from Andrew through interrogation.

But if that were the case, how did Su Nan know so many of Gloomy Throne’s secrets?

Evan glanced at Su Nan, feeling as though this man was shrouded in a layer of fog, making him increasingly unfathomable. Taking a deep breath, Evan adjusted his mentality, shedding his previous arrogance, and said in a sincere tone, 'Since you understand how powerful Gloomy Throne is, you should realize that there’s no chance of survival if you choose to oppose us.'"

“Let me tell you, this advance team returning to the Starlight Continent isn't just us; the real main force is behind us. I admit that you, Star Alliance, have some strength, but you absolutely can't match the main force of the advance team!"

"Instead of pursuing a dead end, you should consider leading the Star Alliance to surrender to Gloomy Throne. With your abilities, I believe the great lords will definitely accept you and offer you ample courtesy!"

Su Nan shook his head. "I have no interest in being a lackey for Gloomy Throne like you."

Before Evan and the others could express their anger, Su Nan scoffed again. "Besides, it's just a Small Wizard Tower and a Second-Level Wizard; that's not enough to intimidate me."

As soon as he finished speaking, the expressions of Evan and the others changed drastically, their eyes filled with horror.

How does this guy even know about the Wizard Tower and Lord Liam?

Seeing the shift in expressions among the Gloomy Throne members, Su Nan's mind settled.

He never intended to interrogate these individuals, as he knew he couldn't extract any information from them. His reason for coming here was merely to gather information and verify whether Gloomy Throne's actions aligned with his memories.

The reactions from Evan and the others undoubtedly confirmed everything!

Having obtained the information he sought, Su Nan lost interest in further testing them and turned to leave.

"Wait, you..."

Evan called out, wanting to stop Su Nan, but he ignored him completely and walked away, leaving Evan helplessly watching as he exited the corridor.

"What exactly is going on?"

Evan sat there in a daze, confusion etched on his face.

The others shared the same feeling, their expressions blank and stunned, as if they had been transparent to their enemy from the start.

This sensation of having all their actions controlled by the other side was genuinely unbearable.

As Su Nan exited the Confinement Area, Lize wore a strange expression, occasionally glancing at him. Finally, she couldn’t help but ask, "How do you know so many secrets about Gloomy Throne?"

Su Nan glanced back and replied, "It’s from Prophecy."

Lize was half-convinced.

There were indeed individuals in the Wizard world skilled in Prophecy, using prophetic spells to foresee certain future events.

"But in her memory, she had never seen Su Nan use any kind of Prophecy Spell, and he wasn’t particularly skilled in the Prophecy system either. Furthermore, information obtained through Prophecy was often vague and mystical.

For Su Nan to know about the Wizard Tower and the presence of Level Two Wizards within the main force of the Gloomy Throne advance team was simply not something that could be gleaned through Prophecy.

Her mind swirling, Lize suppressed her doubts and chose not to press the issue further. Instead, she asked about the fates of the twelve Wizards.

“Have you searched their belongings?” Su Nan inquired, evading the question.

At the mention of this, Lize grimaced. “We’ve searched all of them, and aside from a hundred or so Magic Stones and some rare materials, there wasn’t anything of value to be found—not even a single bottle of Construct Potion. They’re poorer than our own Star Alliance Wizards.”

Su Nan wasn’t surprised. He smiled and said, “The Gloomy Throne system is peculiar. Even Level One Wizards are mostly exploited; their wealth is inferior to that of some second- or third-rate Wizard factions. It's normal that you didn't find any valuable spoils.”

After a moment of contemplation, Su Nan made a decision: “These individuals have contracts with the Gloomy Throne. We can’t extract valuable information from them, and they will never surrender. We might as well kill them all and extract their Souls. At the very least, we can use them to create Soul Crystals.”

Su Nan never showed mercy when dealing with enemies. The Souls of twelve Level One Wizards would be enough to forge several legendary Soul Crystals.

Lize nodded in agreement and then asked, “When will the main force of the Gloomy Throne advance team arrive?”

Su Nan considered her question. “Not for some time. The Wizard Tower requires significant preparation to descend onto the Starlight Continent. It should take at least three or four months.”

“Furthermore, the commotion from the Wizard Tower breaking through the Dimensional Barrier will be substantial. The Star Eye will surely detect it. Just have someone keep an eye out, and you'll know when it happens.”

Lize understood.

After discussing these important matters, the two began to chat more casually.

“When capturing the Gloomy Throne Wizards, Sheman and Coley happened to be near one of the targets. The two directly engaged and took them down.”

“What a coincidence! Or are they two specifically paying attention to this matter, planning to make a significant contribution?" “Who knows? But because of this situation, many Wizards within the Star Alliance are complaining to me, asking why they weren't sent to face the Gloomy Throne.” “The number of Wizards in the Star Alliance is still too small; each one is hard-earned. It's better to leave this kind of fighting to the Witch Hunter Legion. I don’t want the Wizards of the Star Alliance to suffer casualties at this time.” Su Nan indeed thought this way, but that was only one reason. Another reason was his reluctance to sacrifice valuable resources. If even one Wizard died, it would mean one less person to collect Elemental Crystal Dust for him. That would undoubtedly be a significant loss! In comparison, Wizard Level Puppets could be manufactured again even if they perished; it would simply cost a bit more in resources. He had originally established the Witch Hunter Legion with this consideration in mind. “Without my orders, no Wizard is allowed to engage in battle.” After instructing Lize to relay his orders, Su Nan departed, returning to the Elemental Pool at the top of the Wizard Tower to continue constructing the Talent Crystal Model. Although a new batch of enemies would arrive in a few months, he felt no worry at all. Whether it was the Small Wizard Tower or the Second Level Wizard, they would not be difficult to handle. The real concern lay after the plane blockade was completely lifted. Until the Star Alliance found enough protection, the potential attacks from the Gloomy Throne during that period were worrisome. As for the advance team, after the Starlight Wizard Tower was completed and Su Nan advanced to Second Level Wizard, their threat to him had already diminished sharply. “Sheman.” As he walked through the corridor of the Warehouse Area, Sheman suddenly heard someone calling his name from behind. Turning around, he saw it was Scepter. “Scepter,” Sheman greeted. Scepter approached, waving his hand. “You and I are both Wizards; our statuses are equal. There’s no need for the ‘Mentor’ suffix.” Sheman smiled slightly, choosing not to dwell on the topic. Instead, he asked, “Is there something you need from me?” “I heard that you fought against a Wizard of the Gloomy Throne?” Scepter asked, intrigued. “That’s right,” Sheman replied, not hiding the truth.

"How do you feel?" Scepter asked, a curious expression on his face. "What is Gloomy Throne's Wizard strength like?"

Sheman pondered for a moment before replying, "To be honest, they're weaker than I expected."

"Weaker?"

"Yes. They don’t know any Metamagic Techniques, lack a Wizard Tool, and don’t possess any powerful Inscribed Gems or anything like that. They only have one Innate Ability called 'White Bone' which is somewhat decent."

"Are Gloomy Throne's Wizard methods even fewer in number than those of our Star Alliance?" Scepter asked, surprised.

"That's indeed the case. I just spoke with Artier, who mentioned that they didn't find any valuable spoils from those twelve Wizards. Just some Magic Stones and rare materials worth a little money," Sheman said, a hint of emotion in his voice.

To be honest, ever since he learned about Gloomy Throne's existence, he had felt a deep-seated wariness towards them. After all, they were a prominent Large Wizard Faction with Multiverse power. Their cultivation environment and foundation were far superior to that of the Starlight Continent, which was still recovering from the Elemental Desert Era. Although he didn't voice his thoughts, he felt like a country militiaman facing an elite city soldier.

Who would have thought that after actually encountering Gloomy Throne's Wizards, he would find that it wasn't like that at all? Even though they were both Level One Liquid Warlocks, his opponent was not stronger than him. They had no additional tricks or trump cards, lacked a Wizard Tool, and were easily defeated by Coley using Black Thunder. The outcome truly exceeded his expectations and shattered the imposing and mysterious image of a Large Wizard Faction in his mind.

Sheman even felt that those twelve Gloomy Throne Wizards were less wealthy than the Secret Puppet of the Star Alliance. At least the Secret Puppet had Inscribed Gems, along with an Extreme Protection Ring and a Disaster Ring enhanced to the Dim Light Tier limit.

Hearing Sheman's words, Scepter was momentarily speechless. He, too, had felt apprehensive about Gloomy Throne earlier. After learning that Gloomy Throne's Wizards had invaded the Starlight Continent, he had been worried. But who would have thought that shortly after, he would receive news that all twelve invaders had been captured? It left him stunned for a long while before he regained his composure.

"It wasn't until they heard that Sheman had fought the enemy that they rushed over to inquire.

Scepter sighed, "It seems the outside Wizards aren't as well off as we imagined."

Sheman chuckled. "Artier mentioned that those from the Starfall Lord claim that while the Large Wizard Faction possesses a wealthier supply of resources, they also have more Wizards. When distributed, each Wizard doesn't actually receive that much. Therefore, the competition is extremely fierce."

"On the contrary, in our Star Alliance, we have fewer Wizards, and with the Teacher providing a substantial amount of resources, we don’t have to compete. As long as we complete our tasks and earn Contribution Points, we can exchange them for resources. There’s no competition among us; everyone just needs to focus on their own tasks."

"However, once the number of Wizards in the Star Alliance increases in the future, we won’t enjoy such favorable treatment anymore."

Scepter chuckled, "So, we're truly benefiting from the organization's initial founding."

"That's not incorrect," Sheman replied.

The two exchanged knowing glances, their smiles conveying their mutual understanding.

[T/N: Guys, I'm back again. I was having a problem with the glossary; the terms were generally being saved twice in the database (with two different translations). I had to resolve this issue, and some terms were deleted and retranslated. For example, Xie Man became Sheman, and starting from chapter 304, it got messed up again and translated his name to Shamam and Coley’s to Keley. (I hope you don't mind this; I'm sorry.)]
