Chapter 222: It's Better to Describe it as an Assistant
"How did you know about the Starfall Society?"
Lize's gaze grew curious as she stared at Su Nan.
"I saw it in the classics," Su Nan replied casually, brushing off the question.
The Starfall Society was hardly known among the Wizard Faction; it barely qualified as a third-rate power. Its only notable reputation came from its exquisite craftsmanship in refining Alchemic Creations.
Considering this, Falling Star City was most likely established by the Starfall Society.
However, Su Nan recalled that the Starfall Society had perished due to internal strife. Could the downfall truly be linked to Falling Star City?
Seeing that Su Nan wasn't inclined to elaborate, Lize refrained from pressing further. She sighed softly and admitted, "Yes, I was indeed a member of the Starfall Society, and our organization was responsible for the creation of Falling Star City."
After a brief hesitation, she chose to reveal the truth.
"After Falling Star City was constructed, a disagreement arose within the Starfall Society regarding its handling. External forces took advantage of the situation and intervened in our internal affairs, leading to a fierce battle. In the end, the entire Society suffered devastating losses, and I was the sole survivor."
"I refused to die so easily, so I integrated my soul into the Codex I was carrying. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to survive in the form of a ghost."
Su Nan inquired, "What about the key in the Russell family's possession?"
"When I first became a ghost, I lacked the strength and fell into a deep sleep. By the time I awoke, the wizard had already left the Starlight Continent. Unwilling to continue my existence as a ghost, I sought a way to send the method for entering Falling Star City and the Sun Melt Orb to the Russell family, hoping that a genius would arise from their ranks, advance to wizard, and discover a means to revive me. Unfortunately, for over two hundred years, I have yet to find a suitable candidate."
"You didn’t reveal your existence to them?"
Lize fell silent for a moment before replying, "Even within the same family, I cannot guarantee that everyone is free of ulterior motives."
Su Nan understood.
"Even the most loving and harmonious families can inevitably produce unworthy descendants.
If a family member with ulterior motives were to emerge in a certain generation, coveting the Lize Soul, her situation would undoubtedly become extremely dangerous.
A formal Wizard Soul—there are probably very few treasures on the Starlight Continent that are more valuable than this.
Unless a suitable candidate appears, she will continue to wait patiently.
"Then why was the Russell Family later unable to enter Falling Star City?" Su Nan asked further.
Lize glanced at the crystal-clear sphere, sighed, and replied, "The environment on the Starlight Continent has a significant impact on Falling Star City's Star Core. Over the years, the absorption of energy from the Star Core has been consistently insufficient. To maintain its operations, Falling Star City closed its entrance more than seven hundred years ago. Over time, it gradually shut down most of the facilities within the city. Now, only this tower remains in operation."
Hearing this, Su Nan couldn't help but feel a wave of confusion.
If Falling Star City had closed its entrance, then how had he managed to get in?
Could it be...
Seeming to sense Su Nan's confusion, Lize said, "That's right, I actively guided you in."
"Although I cannot fully control Falling Star City, I do retain some permissions, such as allowing it to respond to the Sun Melt Orb's connection."
"I didn't have much hope, but you are more capable than I expected, and you found this place quickly."
As she spoke, Lize's gaze drifted to Amy, perched on Su Nan's shoulder.
She suspected that Su Nan's ability to locate Falling Star City might be related to this little creature; after all, why else would he bring a cat with him?
This little thing doesn't seem to possess any fighting power.
Noticing Lize's gaze, Amy shrank even further behind Su Nan's neck.
"Did you also contact Siren in this way?" Lize asked.
"That's right," Su Nan replied.
"What is your goal?"
"I want to reshape my body!" Lize emphasized, then added, "A body that will allow me to continue on the path of Wizard!"
Su Nan frowned.
If it were merely an ordinary body reshaping, even in her ghostly state, it shouldn't be difficult to achieve.
As long as there was a body at the Legendary Knight level, it could sustain a soul at the Wizard level."
Siren and Deep Sea Naga had fought for so many years; it shouldn't be too hard to find a complete corpse of someone who had died in battle.
However, if he were to be resurrected in that manner, the rejection between the soul and the body would inevitably lead to a significant decline in Lize's power. Forget about reaching the Wizard level; even maintaining the level of a Third-Rank Wizard Apprentice would be considered a good outcome.
Furthermore, there would be no hope for further advancement in the future.
In addition, his lifespan would be greatly shortened. After dying of old age, he wouldn't be able to transform into a ghost again using the same method.
With so many drawbacks, it was understandable that Lize was reluctant to pursue this method.
Yet, rebuilding a body that perfectly matched the soul, especially one at the Wizard level, was no easier than advancing to become a Wizard himself.
“I haven’t dabbled in this area; I can’t help you,” Su Nan said, shaking his head.
“I have the method for Body Reshaping, but I lack sufficient materials.”
Su Nan's expression shifted slightly. "Like the Heart of the Sea?"
The Heart of the Sea was the essence condensed from the power of the ocean. The ocean possessed the ability to reshape bodies — for instance, the Sirens were semi-undead creatures revived by the sea; therefore, the Heart of the Sea could also be used as material for Body Reshaping.
Lize nodded and added, “The Heart of the Sea is just one of them. I also need Blue Lotus Fire, Sun Phoenix Grass, World Tree Branch, Black Thistle Marrow, and Silver Silk Spring Water.”
The more Su Nan listened, the more speechless he became. Each of these materials was more precious than the last. The Heart of the Sea was already considered extremely valuable, yet in that list, it was at the bottom.
“The materials you’re talking about might have been possible to collect a thousand years ago, but in the current Starlight Continent, it’s simply impossible.”
“I know,” Lize said, pursing his lips. “I can wait. As long as the Dimensional Barrier fully recovers, the Starlight Continent will be able to connect to other planes, making it possible to collect these materials.”
“You're quite patient.”
“Anyway, I’m a ghost. As long as the Codex still exists, I won’t die.”
At this point, Lize suddenly realized something was off and looked at Su Nan with a surprised expression.
"Why don’t you seem surprised at all about the Dimensional Barrier? Could it be that you already knew about the plane blockade?"
“I saw records about this in the classics of the Tower of Stars.”
“Tower of Stars? I remember that was the legacy left behind by Gloomy Throne.”
Lize's expression shifted slightly as she hesitated to speak.
The Gloomy Throne was notorious; they would never graciously leave behind a legacy of knowledge and resources without a hidden agenda. They would surely have a backup plan to ensure that whoever received their legacy would remain under their control.
Since Su Nan had entered the Tower of Stars and emerged unscathed, didn’t that mean he had already…
Just as Lize was consumed by suspicion, Su Nan spoke up.
“Tower of Stars has been destroyed by me.”
Lize was momentarily stunned, her expression shifting to one of disbelief.
Destroyed? How could that possibly be true?
Yet, Su Nan had no reason to deceive her about this.
Her life was now essentially in Su Nan's hands, at his mercy. There was absolutely no need for him to lie.
“Aren't you worried about Gloomy Throne's retaliation?” she asked.
“Does being worried mean we should willingly accept their enslavement?” Su Nan shrugged. “Besides, the Multiverse isn't dominated by just one faction like Gloomy Throne. In fact, Gloomy Throne has countless enemies. There are many ways to evade their revenge.”
Lize fell silent.
The more she conversed with Su Nan, the more unfathomable he became.
He clearly hadn’t experienced the era of a thousand years ago, yet he seemed to know everything so thoroughly. This truly bewildered her.
“You’ve said so much, but you haven’t mentioned the most important thing.”
Su Nan's words jolted Lize from her thoughts.
He looked at her with a playful glint in his eyes.
“Collecting so many precious materials isn’t easy. If you want my help, what kind of reward are you prepared to offer?”
Lize appeared to have a plan, as she immediately replied, “I have a 'Soul Pearl' from the Starfall Society, a type of Superior Talent Crystal Model. If you agree to help me, I can give you this Talent Crystal Model.”
Su Nan shook his head. "Not enough."
“Superior Talent Crystal Models are not rare to me. It’s not sufficient compensation for my future efforts.”
Lize's brow furrowed slightly, apprehensive that Su Nan was about to make an exorbitant demand. She was just about to speak when she saw him extend a finger. Countless lines of light appeared in the void, weaving together to form a profound and intricate crystalline model.
It was the Talent Crystal Model of 'Liquid Metal'!
Though it wasn't the Super Talent Crystal Model that Su Nan had ultimately synthesized, it was a 'semi-finished product' that was a step above the Upper Level but had not yet reached the Super level.
During his synthesis efforts, Su Nan had meticulously recorded every semi-finished product, believing they might prove useful in the future.
What appeared before her was simply an illusionary projection condensed by his Spiritual Power.
Yet, even as only a semi-finished product not at the Super level, Lize was utterly dumbfounded.
Despite losing her physical body, her sharp vision as a Wizard remained intact. She could clearly perceive the exquisite and profound nature of this Talent Crystal Model.
Among all the Superior Talent Crystal Models, this one undoubtedly belonged to the top tier!
But it was Su Nan's next words that plunged her into even greater shock.
"This is a Talent Crystal Model that I created."
Su Nan shamelessly claimed credit for the achievement of the Magic Cube.
"Believe it or not, crafting Superior Talent Crystal Models is not difficult for me, so the ‘Falling Star’ you mentioned isn't as valuable here as you might think."
Lize fell silent.
She wanted to challenge Su Nan's claim, but logic told her that in this Starlight Continent realm, he could not have been exposed to such a top-tier Talent Crystal Model.
It was highly likely that, as he stated, he had indeed created it himself.
If that were true, the ‘Falling Star’ was indeed not particularly valuable to him.
At the very least, if he desired one, he could create another Superior Talent Crystal Model on his own.
While she was shocked, Lize became aware of another critical point.
The Talent Crystal Model was a vital secret for any Wizard.
The fact that Su Nan had the audacity to reveal to her that he had created a top-tier Superior Talent Crystal Model indicated a significant stance.
She now faced a choice: either offer sufficient compensation and become his partner or disappear with this secret.
In short, he had cornered her!
After a long silence, Lize finally spoke again, her voice hoarse, "I can share all the knowledge I possess."
"Such as?"
"The blueprints for Falling Star City, the blueprints for the Tentacle Puppet, some methods for creating fourth-order potions and wizard tools, as well as information about other wizard factions."
The resources and magic items on her person had been completely eroded after more than a thousand years.
Apart from her soul, the only compensation she could offer now was knowledge and information.
Su Nan's eyes flickered at this revelation.
After unifying the Starlight Continent, he had fervently sought out various Wizard Codices.
It could be said that he had already gathered comprehensive knowledge about the Wizard Apprentice stage, rivaling the collections of the Wizard Era.
However, knowledge at the Wizard level was severely lacking, with only a little acquired from the Tower of Stars.
His understanding of spells was somewhat better, extending up to the fifth ring.
Yet, there was very little information regarding Wizard Level Puppets, fourth-order potions, and wizard tools.
Lize, after all, was from the illustrious Wizard Era a thousand years ago and a member of the Wizard Organization Starfall Society, so she must possess a wealth of knowledge that could greatly improve this situation.
Of course, that alone was not enough.
With thoughts racing in his mind, Su Nan maintained an outward facade of calm and replied coolly, "Besides that, you will need to serve me for a thousand years. Even after successfully reshaping your body, you will continue to serve."
"You want me to become your subordinate?" Lize's eyebrows furrowed in dissatisfaction.
Su Nan smiled faintly, "It would be better to describe it as an assistant."
"Don't worry, I won't force you to do anything that would harm your dignity or principles. You just need to help me manage the Star Alliance when I'm busy and occasionally assist me with experiments. Besides, you have nothing to do while waiting for the Dimensional Barrier to recover. You might as well find something to occupy your time; it won't be too lonely, right?"
Lize fell silent again, her expression shifting as she grappled with her thoughts.
In the end, the allure of reshaping her body prevailed. She sighed deeply, cast a complex glance at Su Nan, and nodded.
"Alright, I agree."
"A wise choice," Su Nan said, a smile curling on his lips.
The two hammered out various details, including Lize's responsibilities as an assistant and the stipulation that she must refrain from engaging in any actions detrimental to the interests of Star Alliance and Su Nan.
Most importantly, secrecy had to be strictly maintained.
Even after her millennium of service was complete, she could not reveal any of the secrets of Star Alliance and Su Nan.
Once they were certain nothing had been overlooked, the two signed the Vow Contract.
When the light of the oath flashed and then disappeared, Lize let out a sigh of relief.
Though the future remained uncertain, at least there was now a glimmer of hope for Reshaping the Body.
She also wouldn’t have to worry about Falling Star City completely depleting its energy, which would result in her being forever sealed away in another Dimensional Space.
