Chapter 184: The Synonym for Invincibility
Starlight Calendar, Year 1269, Blazing Fire Month (July).
War broke out once more. Just two days after declaring hostilities, the Star Alliance launched a fierce offensive against the Azure Gold Empire.
Despite having enjoyed over two years of respite, the Azure Gold Empire, having lost a significant portion of its territory, had scarcely regained strength. Under the renewed assaults from the Star Alliance, they suffered defeats right from the outset.
Azure Gold Empire, Holy Flame City.
Blazing Fire Month was traditionally the time for the Azure Gold Empire's annual Flame Festival.
However, Holy Flame City, the imperial capital, was devoid of any festive atmosphere. Instead, it lay in utter desolation.
Inside the Imperial Palace, in the study.
The Azure Gold Emperor, having just concluded the court assembly, returned to his study. Upon opening the door, he saw Scepter standing by the window, gazing at the sky.
"You've finally deigned to see me," the Azure Gold Emperor remarked, his expression grim.
"I've told you before; I will not interfere in the Empire's war with the Starry Sky Empire."
"Are you going to watch the Empire fall, watching the Imperial family's bloodline extinguish?" the Azure Gold Emperor retorted through gritted teeth.
Continual reports of defeats from the front lines had poured in, and the Empire was on the brink of collapse. He could no longer concern himself with Scepter's transcendent status within the Empire; he adopted a more aggressive stance.
Yet, all he received in return was Scepter's calm, unwavering gaze.
"The Imperial family's kindness toward me has long been repaid. The Empire and I are now merely in a cooperative relationship. I am not responsible for the Empire's demise. I thought you understood this clearly."
The Azure Gold Emperor's expression faltered. He ground his teeth, saying, "What reward do you want? Just name it. As long as you can protect the Empire, I will accept any condition!"
Scepter shook his head in silence.
Seeing this, the Azure Gold Emperor's face grew even more ashen. He spoke in a low voice, "Since you do not intend to take action, then help me with something!"
"What is it?" Scepter asked.
"Help me contact other allies! I am willing to pay any price as long as they are willing to join forces to help the Empire eliminate Su Nan!"
The Azure Gold Emperor resolved in his heart that as long as Su Nan could be killed, he would deplete the national treasury if necessary.
"Su Nan's death would undoubtedly plunge the Starry Sky Empire into chaos, rendering them unable to sustain the war.
With the Fall of the Starry Sky Empire, the foundation of the Star Alliance would inevitably crumble.
This could buy the Empire precious time to recover, perhaps even offering them a chance to rise again in the future!
The Azure Gold Emperor’s mind raced, but he was met with the pitying gaze of Scepter.
"It's futile. Even if you gathered every wizard apprentice on the continent, you wouldn't be able to touch Su Nan," Scepter said.
The Azure Gold Emperor froze, instinctively asking, "Why?"
Scepter sighed, a complex expression crossing their face, and spoke softly, "Su Nan has already advanced to Wizard."
The Azure Gold Emperor was struck dumb for a moment as he grasped the implications of Scepter's words. He was utterly stunned, his eyes wide.
"A Sage... Wizard?"
"How is that possible?! How could anyone possibly advance to Wizard in this land?"
As the overlord of the Southeast Region, the Azure Gold Emperor was privy to more secrets regarding the Wizard level than most, and he understood the gravity of the situation. It was nearly impossible for anyone to reach Wizard status in this land!
In response to the Azure Gold Emperor's incredulous question, Scepter simply uttered four words.
"Star Tower granted it."
Those four words drained the strength from the Azure Gold Emperor entirely.
He collapsed into his chair, his face pale, despair swirling in his eyes.
The Azure Gold Emperor understood all too well what it meant to be a Wizard.
As Scepter had indicated, even if all the wizard apprentices on the continent combined their power, they would still be no match for Su Nan.
In this continent, a Wizard was synonymous with invincibility.
The realization that he had been plotting against a Wizard just moments ago struck the Azure Gold Emperor as absurd.
"Surrender," Scepter urged gently. "Doing so may preserve a fragment of the royal bloodline."
The Azure Gold Emperor remained silent for a long time before his voice emerged hoarsely, "Will the Starry Sky Empire allow the royal bloodline to continue?"
"Why wouldn’t they? What does the Starry Sky Empire have to fear now?" Scepter retorted.
The Azure Gold Emperor opened his mouth, but no words came to refute that notion.
Indeed."
With the Wizard backing him, the Starry Sky Empire had nothing to worry about anymore.
As long as Su Nan remained, no one could challenge the Arnest Family’s position.
Even if the Azure Gold Royal Family and the Bloodline fell behind, it wouldn't affect the Starry Sky Empire.
“Alright, the empire surrenders.”
As these words left his mouth, the Azure Gold Emperor seemed to age considerably.
Shedding the aura of a Southeast Region overlord, he now appeared as a frail old man.
Scepter shook his head slightly, gazing out the window with a contemplative expression.
The Starlight Continent was on the brink of a drastic change; should he make some alterations as well?
---
Dragon Bone Tower, fifth level.
Xie Man emerged from the Workshop, preparing to head to the warehouse.
He glanced at the ten sets of Second Level Magic Rune Constructs resting in the Space Ring, a smile creeping onto his face.
Once converted into Contribution Points, these Magic Pattern Constructs would be enough to exchange for a bottle of Super Power Potion.
"The sixth Star Ring is just a bit away from completion. With this Super Power Potion, it should be sufficient."
Feeling pleased, Xie Man entered the central hall and teleported to the Warehouse Area.
However, as soon as he looked up, he noticed A'Tier and Cole discussing something not far away.
More than ten years had passed, and A'Tier and Cole were now over thirty years old.
Yet, judging by their appearances, they looked to be only in their early twenties at most.
The long-term immersion in and improvement from Energy Particles had greatly slowed the aging process for Wizard Apprentices, keeping their bodies in peak condition and only accelerating aging as they approached the end of their lifespans.
Unless there was a change in appearance due to Bloodline fusion or physical transformation, very few Wizard Apprentices exhibited signs of aging.
Xie Man himself was no exception.
“A'Tier, Cole.”
Upon hearing his voice, A'Tier turned his head and saw it was Xie Man, a bright smile illuminating his face.
Cole gave him a slight nod, maintaining his usual aloofness.
Xie Man didn’t mind and casually asked, "What are you two doing here?"
Speaking, he glanced around again, surprise etched on his face. “Why are there so many people here today?”
A'Tier widened his eyes, staring at Xie Man in disbelief. “You don’t know?”
“Know what?” Xie Man paused. “I’ve been in the Workshop recently and just came out. Did something happen?”
A'Tier let out a sigh of relief and smiled. “The teacher is back.”
Xie Man was stunned, followed by a wave of joy. The teacher had been gone for over two years. Although he had left a message beforehand to prepare them, the long absence had left everyone in the Base, including Xie Man, with an unsettling sense of listlessness, as if they had lost their backbone.
Before Xie Man could fully process his joy, A'Tier spoke up mysteriously. “There’s a rumor going around outside. Do you know what it is?”
Xie Man rolled his eyes. “Stop being so mysterious.”
A'Tier, unfazed, smiled. “It’s being said everywhere that the teacher obtained the inheritance of the Star Tower and has been promoted to Wizard!”
“What? Really?” Xie Man exclaimed, shocked.
“It should be true,” Cole chimed in. “At the time, many witnessed the teacher single-handedly defeat fourteen Level Three Wizard Apprentices from the Northwest Territory Council of Truth in just two or three breaths!”
“Only a Wizard could achieve that!”
Even Cole, usually so indifferent, couldn’t hide a trace of excitement and longing in his expression.
Xie Man stood there dumbfounded, his expression somewhat dazed. Although he had speculated that the teacher might advance to Wizard, witnessing it actually happen left him in a state of indescribable shock. After all, this was Wizard—the realm that all other Wizard Apprentices dreamed of!
"Shocking, right?" A'Tier sighed. "I was also astonished when I first heard this news. I didn’t expect the teacher to take that step so quickly."
"The teacher's talent is beyond our imagination!" Cole added.
Returning to his senses, Xie Man cast a strange glance at Cole. He had sensed it before: though Cole appeared cold and reticent, he greatly admired the teacher, to the point of being an unabashed fan.
"It’s just that the teacher is a Wizard and not a God; otherwise, Cole would definitely qualify as a fanatic."
“Wait a minute.” Xie Man then reacted, “What does this have to do with your gathering in the Warehouse Area?”
A'Tier explained, “The Task Hall has released numerous new missions and increased the purchase prices for materials like the Magic Pattern Construct, Enchanted Weapons, Stone Golems, and Twin Blade Spiders. Everyone is here to accept the new missions.”
Xie Man's gaze narrowed slightly as he grasped the deeper meaning behind these changes.
“Is the Star Alliance going to start expanding again?”
“Most likely.” Cole's eyes flashed with a sharp light. “The Starlight Continent is on the verge of a dramatic change.”
Xie Man nodded thoughtfully.
Indeed, with a Wizard in charge, the Star Alliance already had the qualifications to unify the Underworld and even the entire Starlight Continent.
Given the teacher's usual style, he would undoubtedly seize this opportunity.
The changes in equipment and the Contribution Points related to Golems were clearly preparations for an impending war.
“Actually, besides the missions, I also heard a rumor,” A'Tier said in a low voice.
“I heard that the teacher is planning to establish a Wizard Academy.”
Wizard Academy?
Xie Man's eyes widened in surprise.
Cole was similarly stunned; he was hearing this for the first time.
"Where did this news come from?" Cole quickly asked.
"Sir Amy said it."
Xie Man and Cole exchanged glances.
If it was said by Sir Amy, it was likely to be true.
"But if a Wizard Academy is to be established, how will the issue of instructors be resolved?" Xie Man asked, puzzled.
Even if the teacher was willing to teach personally, an academy couldn’t be established with just one instructor.
"I'm not sure about that," A'Tier replied, spreading his hands.
Xie Man felt both confused and hopeful.
If the Academy could truly be established, it would undoubtedly be a positive development for them as Apprentices.
Having instructors to impart knowledge would greatly enhance their learning efficiency.
In the future, when faced with challenges, they wouldn’t have to struggle alone.
On the sixth floor of Dragon Bone Tower, in the Experiment Area,
Inside the spacious and bright laboratory, Su Nan stood at the workbench, placing bottles of Lesser Active Potion into the Magic Cube.
Having opened up a Large Magical Plant Garden in Dragon Forest Zone 2, the supply of Silver Moon Flowers had greatly increased, allowing him to stop worrying about it.
Especially during the more than two years spent at Star Tower, the warehouse had accumulated a massive amount of Silver Moon Flowers, sufficient to last a very long time.
As more and more potions were added, the information on the Magic Cube synthesis interface constantly changed, finally shining brightly as the words "Fourth Rank" appeared.
【Crystal Soul Potion (Fourth Rank/Superior Grade): After consumption, it greatly increases the speed of Spiritual Power condensation and enhances the absorption efficiency of Energy Particles, lasting for 182 days and 22 hours. It has no stacking effect. The consumer must reach at least the first level of the Vaporization stage, and their Spiritual Power must meet certain requirements (Lower Level 25.32% / Intermediate 17.88% / Upper Level 8.24% / Super 1.02%).】
Su Nan nodded silently.
Judging by the effect description, the Crystal Soul Potion was simply an upgraded version of the Active Potion—it improved upon the effects of the Active Potion without any significant changes.
The levels mentioned at the end clearly referred to the level of the Talent Crystal.
The level of the Talent Crystal significantly impacted the subsequent development of a Wizard, which also reflected in the usage restrictions of potions.
While it was more difficult for a Wizard with a higher Talent Crystal level to condense Spiritual Power than for one with a lower level, the former faced fewer restrictions when using potions.
Moreover, given the same progress in Spiritual Power condensation, the former's combat power would also surpass that of the latter.
Overall, the benefits outweighed the drawbacks.
"Calculating this way, my current condensation progress of 1.34% is roughly equivalent to about 30% of a Lower Level Crystal Wizard."
A satisfied expression appeared on Su Nan's face.
This was why he was so determined to pursue a high-level Talent Crystal. Although the initial challenge was steep, the benefits in the later stages were numerous.
Su Nan then attempted to synthesize a fifth-rank potion, but the usage restriction instantly soared to a level one Crystallization Stage (Super 24.45%).
"It seems that I can only make use of the Crystal Soul Potion for a long time."
Su Nan wasn't overly disappointed. The combination of the Crystal Soul Potion, Elemental Pool, and Divine Energy was sufficient for him to cultivate like a normal Wizard, unaffected by the environment of the Starlight Continent.
This was already quite satisfactory; he couldn't ask for more.
He could take his time to explore other methods to improve his cultivation efficiency later.
Snapping back to his senses, Su Nan immediately drank the potion and returned to the Elemental Pool on the top floor to begin his cultivation.
Twelve days passed, and the condensation progress of his Spiritual Power increased by 0.01%.
“At this rate, it will take about three hundred years to break through to the first level of the Liquefaction Stage,” Su Nan muttered to himself.
He wondered if seven hundred years would be sufficient for him to break through to the first level of the Crystallization Stage.
If he could discover more ways to enhance his cultivation efficiency, it shouldn't pose a problem.
Shaking his head, Su Nan stood up and left the top floor, teleporting to the Workshop Area on the fifth floor.
With the Potion issue resolved, it was now time to address the matter of the Wizard Artifact.
After contemplating for the past few days, Su Nan had already formed a preliminary plan.
