Chapter 941: Gold Talisman Master
Xu Meijing's utter disregard for others not only infuriated Han Fushi, but also ignited intense rage in the hearts of the other three Black Talisman Masters.
"Xu Meijing, the reason our Talisman Order usually doesn't deal with your Underworld Office is because *we* don't want to deal with *you*. Do you really think our Talisman Order is afraid of your Underworld Office? Afraid of you, an Underworld Official?"
A Black Talisman Master spoke to Xu Meijing in a deep voice, intense killing intent erupting in his eyes. Xu Meijing's arrogance was too much for his already fiery temper to bear.
"Don't bother with such useless talk. If you want to fight, then fight. What's with all the nonsense? Do you want a one-on-one, or a team brawl? I, Xu Meijing, will accompany you to the very end. But there's one thing I must warn you: I'm responsible for the killing, not the burying."
Xu Meijing's words were equally arrogant. Not only could Han Fushi not stand hearing them, but even the most rational of the four Black Talisman Masters now had fury etched on his face.
“Fine. You've been in An City for so long, and I've never known your true measure. Today, I shall seek your guidance. And I'll return your words to you: I, too, am responsible for the killing, not the burying! ”
The Black Talisman Master with the most fiery temper spoke with a murderous expression. He then stepped forward, a powerful energy fluctuation radiating from his body. From his stance, it was clear he intended to challenge Xu Meijing to a one-on-one fight.
Xu Meijing showed no weakness. Her gaze fell upon him, a look of disdain on her face as she, too, stepped forward, unleashing a powerful energy fluctuation.
“Old Jiang, you deal with Yang Haoran! Old Liu, help Old Li take on Xu Meijing! I'll be responsible for deterring these petty individuals present, ensuring they don't disturb your battle. Finish the fight as quickly as possible. Don't hold back, and don't consider the consequences. If anything happens, I'll bear the responsibility alone. Just go ahead and slaughter these two reckless Yin dogs! ”
Han Fushi was now completely consumed by rage, which was why he wanted to eliminate Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing regardless of the consequences. If he didn't kill them today, he would likely lose all face and be unable to remain in An City.
He had already lost count of how many times he had given orders to the three Talisman Masters. Yet, it seemed fate was toying with him today. Just as his words fell, a patch of space in the area violently fluctuated once more. It looked as if someone else was about to tear through space and arrive.
“No matter who it is, kill these two Yin dogs first! ”
Han Fushi roared at the three Black Talisman Masters. With his anger clouding his mind, he no longer cared about the consequences, nor did he care who was arriving; he only wished to kill Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing.
“Stop! ”
The spatial rift had barely opened when an angry male voice echoed from within. The others present didn't react much to the sound, but Han Fushi's body involuntarily trembled upon hearing it, a look of panic appearing on his face.
As the voice faded, a figure emerged from the spatial rift. This person possessed the appearance of a youthful face beneath a crown of white hair, clearly indicating practiced longevity arts. From his attire and the Talisman Spirit Power emanating from him, he appeared to be a Talisman Master.
The man's gaze fell upon Han Fushi, and Han Fushi, at the same moment, fixed his eyes upon him.
Since Han Fushi had just issued a death order, none of the three Black Talisman Masters bothered with who the newcomer was, nor did they halt their actions. Instead, they followed Han Fushi's instructions, launching an attack on Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing, each unleashing several offensive Black Talismans.
Naturally, Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing would not simply surrender. They were well-prepared. The instant the three Talisman Masters unleashed their talismans, both of them made their moves almost simultaneously.
Yang Haoran controlled his Soul Armament, Remnant Moon, to intercept the incoming talismans, while Xu Meijing, without even opening her Heaven Soul, directly condensed several chains from her Yin Spirit Power and coiled them around the attacking talismans.
Xu Meijing didn't open her Heaven Soul not because she lacked time, but because she simply disdained opening it for a skirmish of this level.
The techniques of both sides intertwined, erupting in a series of explosions. The man who had emerged from the spatial rift saw this and his expression turned grim. He then waved his hand, unleashing a talisman.
This talisman was neither the lowest-grade Yellow Talisman, nor the Black Talisman used by the three Black Talisman Masters, but a gleaming Golden Talisman.
The Golden Talisman moved swiftly, appearing above Yang Haoran and the others in the blink of an eye. The Golden Talisman suddenly burst forth with a brilliant golden light, enveloping the techniques they had each unleashed.
The talismans unleashed by the three Black Talisman Masters, once enveloped by the golden light, instantly lost their power. As for Yang Haoran's Soul Armament, Remnant Moon, and the chains condensed from Xu Meijing's Yin Spirit Power, they shattered directly upon being covered by the golden light. Even though Yang Haoran's Soul Armament, Remnant Moon, was incredibly sturdy, it could not withstand the golden light's embrace.
Of course, this occurred because neither Yang Haoran nor Xu Meijing had used their full strength. If both had unleashed their complete power, it would be difficult to say whether this Golden Talisman could have instantly shattered their techniques.
“If anyone dares to act again, don't blame me for being impolite! ”
After neutralizing the attacks from both sides, the man spoke in a deep voice. These words were not only directed at the Talisman Masters present but also at Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing.
Xu Meijing had no desire to heed the man, thus she didn't take his threat seriously at all. After her chains shattered, she prepared to escalate her attack on these Talisman Masters. It was then that Yang Haoran flashed to her side.
Yang Haoran seemed to guess what Xu Meijing intended to do, so he gently touched her arm, gave her a look, and shook his head.
“How annoying,” Xu Meijing said with a hint of displeasure, but she still abandoned the idea of immediately striking.
Xu Meijing didn't want to show face to the white-haired man, for she possessed the strength and the capital to be arrogant. However, she would certainly give face to Yang Haoran.
The three Black Talisman Masters ceased their actions, turning their gazes towards the man. Upon realizing who he was, their expressions drastically changed. They immediately bowed to the man, their attitudes exceedingly respectful, not daring to defy his wishes.
“Greetings, Divine Envoy! ”
The three Talisman Masters respectfully saluted. From their reactions, it was clear that they all recognized this man.
“Greetings, Master! ”
Han Fushi also bowed respectfully to the man, addressing him as “Master. ”
“What exactly is going on here? Explain yourself clearly! ”
The man's face was grim. He first glanced at Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing, then shifted his gaze to Han Fushi, asking in a deep voice.
Han Fushi lowered his head, a flicker of panic in his eyes, before finally responding to the man.
“To answer Master, these two Underworld Officials came to our Talisman Order to cause trouble. Not only did they injure our Talisman Masters, but they also destroyed our Talisman Order's temple and even killed many of our believers. ”
Upon hearing this, the man's eyes immediately burst forth with tangible killing intent. He turned his gaze back to Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing.
“You two junior Underworld Officials, aren't you being a bit too presumptuous? Is this how Luo Yao teaches you to conduct yourselves? Give me a reasonable explanation, or else I will personally extract both of your souls, then bring your souls to Luo Yao and demand an explanation from him. ”
The man spoke to Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing, his voice cold and displaying undisguised killing intent. However, he wasn't foolish; he knew there was no wave without wind. If there weren't deep-seated grudges, the other party certainly wouldn't act like this.
Therefore, he forcibly suppressed the anger surging within him, demanding a reasonable explanation from Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing.
“Firstly, I did indeed injure your Talisman Order's Talisman Masters, but that was because they attacked me indiscriminately. I acted in self-defense, which is why I merely injured them. If I truly came to cause trouble, it wouldn't have been injuries; I would have killed them. ”
“Secondly, the temple wasn't destroyed by me, but by your obedient disciple here. While this matter is related to me, the connection is not significant, so I won't take the blame for destroying your Talisman Order's temple. ”
“Thirdly, as for killing your believers, that's because they relentlessly insisted on attacking me, so I had no choice but to teach them a lesson, to kill the chicken to warn the monkeys. ”
“Fourthly. . . ”
Yang Haoran stopped there as Han Fushi could no longer listen, directly interrupting him.
“You're spouting utter nonsense! How dare you lie in front of my Master! ”
Han Fushi's voice was filled with rage, and beneath that fury, there was a hint of barely concealed panic.
