Chapter 627: I Agree
"Old Master Wu, you two—one old, one young—cannot kill me at all. On the contrary, if I wanted to kill you, it would be as easy as turning my hand. The only reason you're still alive is that I haven't made a move against you; otherwise, both of you would have already undergone Soul Transformation. I think it's best you listen to your son. Agree to my terms, and not only will you survive, but your family won't die because of you either."
The Spirit Master listened to Wu Junior's frantic cries, as well as the conversation between Old Master Wu and Xiao Kang. Realizing that Old Master Wu's resolve hadn't wavered and he still intended to kill him, he couldn't help but advise him with a smile.
"Dad! Just agree to him! I'm begging you! Are you truly going to sacrifice our entire family for an outsider? !"
Seeing Old Master Wu ignore him, Wu Junior didn't give up. After the Spirit Master's words faded, he shouted at Old Master Wu once more, his tone more desperate, his expression even more panicked than before.
"Silence!"
This time, Old Master Wu didn't ignore Wu Junior's cries. His expression was grim as he harshly rebuked Wu Junior, his demeanor and tone imbued with the exasperation of "hating iron for not becoming steel."
"Old Master Wu, what your son said isn't actually wrong. Is it truly worth sacrificing your entire family's lives for an outsider? " the Spirit Master asked with a smile.
"Whether it's worth it or not, I know perfectly well. I don't need you to remind me," Old Master Wu replied in a deep voice.
"Heh heh, Old Master Wu, I don't like hearing that. When facing death, how many people aren't cowards? Feigning composure is just deceiving oneself. On the contrary, I quite admire Young Master Wu Junior's reaction, because that's genuine character."
As the Spirit Master spoke, he walked towards Wu Junior.
Watching the Spirit Master approach him step by step, Wu Junior trembled uncontrollably, his eyes wide with sheer terror.
As his words ceased, the Spirit Master had already reached Wu Junior. He squatted down, looking at Wu Junior with a wide smile, that centipede-like scar now appearing exceptionally sinister on his face.
The Spirit Master lightly waved a hand. A handgun, lying beside a bodyguard's corpse, was affected by his Spiritual Power and flew towards him, whereupon he snatched it into his grasp.
Glancing at the handgun in his hand, the Spirit Master's smile deepened a few shades, and then he fired a shot at Wu Junior's foot.
Bang!
The bullet struck Wu Junior's leg. Wu Junior screamed in agony, tears and snot streaming down his face.
The two young girls both burst into tears, one of them trembling uncontrollably from fright. Even the steady Wu Senior's expression changed, his brows furrowing into a grim frown.
Old Master Wu's expression also shifted. No matter how useless Wu Junior was, he was still his flesh and blood. Though he cursed him verbally, his heart ached for his son. The Spirit Master's shot, though it struck Wu Junior's leg, pierced Old Master Wu's heart.
"Heh heh, I actually meant to shoot him in the heart, but I accidentally hit his leg. My terrible marksmanship has made a joke of me, everyone. However, for the next shot, I'll press the muzzle against Young Master Wu Junior's chest; that should prevent me from missing again," the Spirit Master said with a smile.
His words drained all color from Wu Junior's face, and his wails grew louder.
"Dad! Help me, Dad! I don't want to die! Save me, Dad!"
The air was thick with the smell of blood, the atmosphere incredibly oppressive. Wu Junior's heart-wrenching cries affected everyone else present.
Among the two young girls, one finally couldn't bear it anymore and completely broke down under Wu Junior's screams.
"I don't want to die! Let me go! I don't want to die! Your grievances have nothing to do with me! I'm just a tea seller! Please, please let me go! As long as you let me go, I'll do anything you ask! Oh, right! I'm a really good dancer! Everyone who's seen me says so! I. . ."
The woman shouted hysterically. At this moment, she had only one thought: to survive, no matter the method, she absolutely had to survive.
However, the Spirit Master did not grant her wish. Before she could even finish speaking, a gunshot brought her words to an abrupt halt.
Bang!
The bullet struck the woman between the eyebrows. With an expression of utter horror frozen on her face, the woman instantly lost her life.
"A tea seller, coming here to meddle in things that don't concern her."
Though the Spirit Master claimed his marksmanship was terrible, he'd blown the woman's head off with a single shot, clearly demonstrating that his aim was not as poor as he claimed.
After dispatching the woman, the Spirit Master ignored Wu Junior, who was still screaming, and turned his gaze back to Old Master Wu.
"Old Master Wu, I'm just asking for your cooperation. Why must you be so stubborn? From what I understand, you're a very shrewd businessman. As a businessman, do you not even comprehend the most basic concept of weighing gains and losses? " The Spirit Master hadn't given up, speaking to Old Master Wu.
Old Master Wu remained silent. The Spirit Master wasn't in a hurry; he chuckled and cast his gaze towards Wu Junior.
"Very well. Since you lack the courage to make a choice, I'll be a good person and give you a little courage to decide."
The smile on the Spirit Master's face turned savage. The handgun in his hand once again pointed at Wu Junior. Seeing this, Wu Junior's struggles instantly grew more frantic, his screams turning hoarse; he had cried himself raw.
"Anyway, in your eyes, he's just a good-for-nothing who only knows how to eat, drink, and be merry. Such a disappointment, there's no use keeping him around. You, as his father, surely can't bring yourself to do it, so I'll be merciful and put an end to him for you."
A cold killing intent erupted in the Spirit Master's eyes. From his demeanor, it was clear he wasn't merely trying to scare Old Master Wu this time; he genuinely intended to finish off Wu Junior.
However, just as he was about to pull the trigger, Old Master Wu stopped him!
"Stop!"
The Spirit Master's hand paused, his gaze turning to Old Master Wu.
"Heh heh, what's this, Old Master Wu? Have you changed your mind? " the Spirit Master asked with a smile.
"I agree! " Old Master Wu said through gritted teeth, his expression deeply grim.
Upon hearing Old Master Wu's words, no one was happier than Wu Junior. His face was streaked with tears and snot, his expression instantly becoming frantic, yet this agitation wasn't from fear, but from joy!
However, the reactions of the others present were different from his. The expressions of the rest became very complex, as if they were relieved, yet also apprehensive about something else.
Only Xiao Kang, upon hearing Old Master Wu's words, looked at Old Master Wu beside him with an expression of disbelief.
"Grandpa Wu, are you really going to team up with him against Uncle Yang?"
Xiao Kang's voice conveyed disbelief, but even more, it held a glimmer of hope, hoping Old Master Wu would give him a negative answer.
However, to his immense disappointment, Old Master Wu simply nodded gently. It seemed he didn't know how to face Xiao Kang, as Old Master Wu didn't look at him while nodding.
At this moment, Xiao Kang felt deeply disappointed, and that disappointment was fully evident on his face.
"No, it can't be. I don't believe Grandpa Wu would conspire with an outsider to deal with Uncle Yang. You're lying to me, aren't you?"
Even though he had received Old Master Wu's affirmative answer, Xiao Kang still refused to accept such a result. Clutching onto his last shred of hope, he asked Old Master Wu for confirmation once more.
However, this time, before Old Master Wu could respond, the Spirit Master cut in ahead of him.
"Heh heh, Old Master Wu, look at this. Even a child doesn't believe your words. How can I possibly trust you? " the Spirit Master said with a laugh.
"Since you came to find me, yet you're unwilling to trust me, then what exactly did you come for? " Old Master Wu asked.
"It's not that I'm unwilling to trust you, but with just your empty words, it's hard to be convincing. If you want me to believe you, shouldn't you at least show some sincerity?"
"What must I do for you to consider it sincere? " Old Master Wu asked in a deep voice.
"Well. . . that does seem a bit troublesome," the Spirit Master mused, then his eyes lit up as he looked at Xiao Kang, who was standing beside Old Master Wu.
"How about this: you kill the child beside you and scatter his soul. Then I'll be able to trust you completely. What do you think of my suggestion?"
